Nicholas Kochansky,

a resident of Pickens, S.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center in Greenville, S.C. He was 81.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born Oct. 26, 1918, in Stamford, he was a son of the late John and Justina Schurko Kochansky.

Mr. Kochanksy was a retired vice president of Scholastic Inc. He was a choir and vestry member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Stamford.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Kochansky is survived by his wife, Evelyn Rensing Kochansky; a daughter, Ellen Kochansky of Pickens, S.C.; his son, Jan Kochansky of Adelphi, Md.; a brother, Peter Kochansky of Pelzer, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Building Fund, 214 Northampton Road, Seneca, SC 29631.

Dillard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens, S.C., is handling arrangements.

Oscar Hawkins Jr.,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, July 30, 2000 at Courtland Gardens. He was 75.

He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.

Born May 21, 1925, in Louisburg, N.C., he was a son of the late Oscar Hawkins Sr. and Cassie Evans Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Bethel AME Church in Stamford.

He is survived by a daughter, Debra Watson of New Haven; three brothers, Sandy Hawkins and William Hawkins, both of Stamford, and Albert Hawkins of Oxford, N.C.; two sisters, Zeola Jones of Henderson, N.C., and Pauline Clifton of Louisburg, N.C.; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Ave., Stamford.

A funeral service will follow at noon in the church. The Rev. Winton Hill will officiate.

Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.

Downer Funeral Home, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Albert O. Bouchard,

a Darien resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 59.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born April 27, 1941, in Kingston, N.Y., he was a son of the late Jeremy and Anna Johnston Bouchard.

Mr. Bouchard graduated from Kingston High School and attended various technical schools. He worked for more than 30 years at Southern New England Telephone Co.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Johnson Bouchard of Darien; two sisters, Claudia Bouchard of Greenwich and Marianne Juhl of Dalzel, S.C.; a niece and a nephew.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, and head to Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.

Gilda M. Gudiel

Gilda Maritza Gudiel, a Stamford resident, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford. She was 27.

Anthony LeGrand,

a New York resident, died Tuesday, July 1, 2000 in St. Clare's Hospital Manhattan. He was 47.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born Feb. 17, 1953, in Stamford, he was the son of John LeGrand of Stamford and the late Ruth Watkins LeGrand.

A graduate of Harvard University and Fordham Law School, Mr. LeGrand was a prominent attorney in New York for the Screen Actors Guild. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Stamford.

Besides his father, he is survived by five aunts, two uncles, a nephew and numerous cousins.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, in the church. The Rev. Robert W. Perry will officiate.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.

The Downer Funeral Home in Stamford is handling arrangements.

Christopher Julian Burkett,

a Stamford resident, died Monday, July 31, 2000 at Westchester Medical Center in Westchester County, N.Y. He was 15.

He died in a car accident, according to his family.

Born May 17, 1985, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of Jacqueline Saunders Burkett of Stamford and Eric Burkett of North Carolina.

Christopher was a student at Westhill High School in Stamford. He participated in YMCA Teen Nights and the Avenues program at the Stamford Government Center.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Eric Burkett Jr. of Stamford; two sisters, Jewell Renee Burkett and Melody Nicole Burkett, both of Stamford; his maternal grandmother, Espie Saunders of Stamford; paternal grandparents, Randy and Elizabeth Burkett of Durham, N.C.; two uncles, Richard Saunders of Norwalk and Thomas Burkett Jr., of North Carolina; two aunts, Hope Elliot of Stamford and Kema Burkett of North Carolina; and several cousins and friends. Several of his relatives helped raise Christopher.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Lester Jack Saunders.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000 at Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Ave., Stamford, and 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 7, in the church. A funeral service will follow at noon in the church, with the Rev. Winton Hill officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Stamford.

Domenica "Minnie" F. Marino,

a lifelong resident of Greenwich, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 80.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born June 4, 1920, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of Frances Minnitti Marino of Greenwich and the late Dominick Marino.

She was a seamstress with various women's clothing factories in the Port Chester, N.Y., area. She had retired in 1985.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three brothers, Stephen Marino of Greenwich, Frank Marino of Dennis, Mass., Dominick "Doc" Marino Jr. of Stamford; two sisters, Marie Congelosi of Stamford, and Jane Tullo of Cambria, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and great-grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., today, Aug. 3, 2000 at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church in Byram.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich.

Elizabeth Fruin of Milford

died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 in Milford Hospital. She was 77.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born April 18, 1923, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Judge Robert H. Fruin and Elizabeth Kenealy Fruin.

A Milford resident for 45 years, she was retired from the former Connecticut National Bank, where she was employed for many years. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford.

She is survived by her longtime friend, Josephine Colagrassi of Milford; four cousins, Mary Tamosaitis of Naugatuck, Patricia Noble of Chesire, Matthew H. Kenealy of Stamford and Dr. John C. Kenealy of Tyner, N.C.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4 at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Ave., Milford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4 at St. Ann's Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave., Milford.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Milford.
