Emily T. Kingsley,

a New Canaan resident, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 76.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Jan. 12, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Quinziano and Italia Tanga.

After graduating from Brooklyn College in 1946, Mrs. Kingsley worked as a public school teacher. She was later employed by McGraw-Hill Publishers in Manhattan, N.Y.

Mrs. Kingsley moved to New Canaan in 1968, where she resided until 1999. She taught for many years at Saxe Junior High School and New Canaan High School.

She was active in the Town Players, and was a former president of the New Canaan Chapter of the American Association of University Women. She also served as secretary to the Board of Trustees of the New Canaan Society for the Arts and later became its gallery director. Mrs. Kingsley was a member of St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan.

She is survived by two sons, Neil Kingsley of Sterling, Va., and Craig Kingsley of Darien; a daughter, Roberta Kaplan of Randolph, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 6, 2000 at F. Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at St. Aloysius Church.

Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, c/o Foundation Office, Maple Street, Norwalk, CT 06856.

Dr. Marie J. Fakkel,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 79.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born May 17, 1921, in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Nellie Van Gemert Fakkel.

She received her bachelor's degree from Boston University and her doctorate of medicine from Tufts University in 1950. She operated her own medical practice in Stamford from 1950 until her retirement in 1993.

She was a member of Turn of River Presbyterian Church in Stamford.

She was involved in numerous professional and philanthropic organizations.

She is survived by her sister, Beverly A. Blackler, and brother, Richard L. Fakkel, both of Sharon, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 at Turn of River Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Knollwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton, Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to Turn of River Presbyterian Church, 49 Turn of River Road, Stamford, CT 06831.

Mildred Dorr Pokorny,

a former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 in Bradenton, Fla. She was 96.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born March 9, 1904, in Aurora, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Ida Dorr.

Mrs. Pokorny was an active member of Springdale Fire Co.'s Women's Auxiliary and a communicant of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in the Springdale section of Stamford. She was a Springdale resident for more than 60 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Elliott of Bradenton, Dody Green of Stamford and Shirley Retallick of New Fairfield; a son, Stephen M. Pokorny Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pokorny was predeceased by her husband, Stephen M. Pokorny; a daughter, Lois Speck Burton; and a grandson.

A memorial service was held yesterday at Congregational Church in New Fairfield.

Burial is private.

Olof Dayton Lindstedt,

a Greenwich resident, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at home. He was 73.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born May 8, 1927, in Seoul, South Korea, he was a son of the late August and Margaret Lindstedt.

He was a graduate of the Shanghai American School. Mr. Lindstedt received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree from the University of Chicago.

He worked in the banking industry.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 and later was recruited into the Office of Strategic Services because of his fluency in Russian. After being discharged, he returned to work at First National Bank of Chicago.

In 1960, Mr. Lindstedt married his wife, Elizabeth. In 1962, they were transferred to Japan, where he established the bank's Tokyo office. In 1970, Mr. Lindstedt joined Chemical Bank and opened several offices throughout the Far East.

He moved to Greenwich in 1977. He held several senior positions at Chemical Bank, including heading the International Private Banking department and the bank's branches at the United Nations. He retired in 1987.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kristina E. Lindstedt of Greenwich; a son, Olof D. Lindstedt Jr. of Greenwich; and three brothers.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 at Round Hill Community Church in Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way of Greenwich Endowment Fund, One Lafayette Court, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Paul S. Wolf Sr.,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 at Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. He was 62.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Jan. 17, 1938, in Clearfield, Pa., he was a son of the late Harvey C. Wolf Sr. and Mabel Stemm Wolf.

Mr. Wolf was employed by the Hobbs Equipment Co. of Norwalk for 35 years. He was a member of St. John's Church in Darien and UFCW Local 37. He was an avid bowler.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lorenti Wolf of Stamford; two sons, Paul S. Wolf Jr. of Westerly, R.I., and Wayne David Wolf of Norwalk; a brother, Harvey C. Wolf Jr. of Morrisdale, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Wolf was predeceased by his sister, Stella Zook.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, and proceed to St. John's Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897; or the Lupus Foundation of Connecticut, 45 South Main St., East Hartford, CT 06110.

Peter Dance,

a Darien resident, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 56.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Dec. 7, 1943, in Louisville, Ky., he was a son of David and Jane Clune Dance of New Canaan.

Mr. Dance graduated from University of Notre Dame and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

He was vice president of ISSC at IBM before retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed golf and traveling.

Mr. Dance was a member of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien and the West Bay Club in Estero, Fla.

He was a supporter of the Fairfield County Notre Dame Alumni Association and the University of Notre Dame Sorin Society. He was a volunteer for the Darien Public Library, the United Way and youth sports in Darien.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dance is survived by his wife, Jamie Dance of Darien; a sister, Susan Deetsch of Louisville; two brothers, Robert Dance of New York City and Richard Dance of West Chester, Pa.; a daughter, Stephanie Tancredi of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, David Dance of Newtown and Andrew Dance of New York City; and four grandchildren.

Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 6, 2000 at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A rosary will be said at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at St. Thomas More Church in Darien.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Alumni Association - Peter Dance Scholarship, University of Notre Dame, Eck Center, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
