Frank S. Covello,

a Greenwich resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at home. He was 83.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born Oct. 3, 1916, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of the late Stephen G. and Carmela Curcio Covello.

Mr. Covello was a member of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians. He was a guitarist with many bands in the Bronx.

He was a certified electrician and co-owner of S.G. Covello & Sons, an electrical contractor in the Bronx.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicky Covello of Greenwich; a brother, George Covello of Central Nyack, N.Y.; and a grandson.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Natielo Covello.

Service are private.

Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich, is handling arrangements.

Gertrude Hines,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at Courtland Gardens Health Center in Stamford. She was 94.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Feb. 21, 1906, in Germaine, Costa Rica, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Emeline Drummond Hines.

Ms. Hines is survived by three sisters, Linnette Clark and Ethel Hines, both of Stamford, and Lillian Jackson of Bridgeport; and a brother, Arnold Hines of Costa Rica.

There are no calling hours.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at North Stamford Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2136 High Ridge Road, Stamford.

Burial is private.

Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Inez Penn,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 78.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born April 11, 1922, in Brantley, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Lovine Johnson.

Mrs. Penn attended Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stamford.

She is survived by six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jim Lee Penn; and a son, Malcolm Carpenter Sr.

Services are private.

Downer Funeral Home Inc., 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Narvis C. Perry,

a Stratford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was 78.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Camden, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Davis Lee.

Mrs. Perry attended Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Norwalk.

She is survived by her husband, George H. Perry of Stratford; three brothers, Alander Lee of Bridgeport, and Richard Lee and David Lee, both of New Haven; and a sister, Marie Miller of Arlington, Texas.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.

A funeral service will follow. The Rev. George B. Montz will officiate.

Burial will follow in Maple Grove Memorial Park in Easton.

Virginia Marie DiCarlo,

a Stamford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 84.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born June 15, 1916, in Newburgh, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Celestine and Louise S. Crudele.

Mrs. DiCarlo was a homemaker and former owner of The Shed gift store in Stamford. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Sacred Heart Church of Newburgh.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph J. DiCarlo of Stamford; a son, Charles S. DiCarlo of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Maryanne D. Dolan of Stamford; a sister, Jennie Favata of Newburgh; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 18, 2000 at Coloni Funeral Home in New Windsor, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

A local service will be held at a time to be announced.

Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

James Bruno,

a Greenwich resident, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 81.

He died of complications from diabetes, according to his family.

Born April 18, 1919, in Greenwich, he was a son of the late Peter and Grace Bonvenuto Bruno.

Mr. Bruno graduated from St. Basil's Prep School in Stamford and attended Roanoke College in Virginia.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Greenwich.

He is survived by a brother, Harold Bruno of Greenwich; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Bruno; and two sisters, Rose Perna and Carmella Bruno.

Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m., today, Aug. 18, 2000 at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church in Greenwich.

Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Ralph D. Russo,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 75.

He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.

Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Albert and Josephine Gervasio Russo.

In 1966, he founded Ralph D. Russo Plumbing and Heating, which he owned until his retirement in 1990.

Mr. Russo attended St. Bridget Church and was a member of the Stillwater Indians of Stamford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Coniglio Russo of Stamford; two sons, Albert Russo of Stamford and Frank Russo of Norwalk; two sisters, Theresa Lacerenza of Stamford and Marie Lombardo of Trumbull; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, for St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Bridget Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford, CT 06906.
