CHARLES L. SHEA age 52 of 2 Deer Run, Oakdale, died Friday morning at Bayview Healthcare in Waterford.
He was born in New Haven, April 23, 1950.
A senior designer at Electric Boat he was a graduate of Norwich Regional Technical School in the class of 1968 and also the Electric Boat Apprentice School.
Ann avid golfer he was a member of the Electric Boat Athletic Club.
He also enjoyed wood working and was a former member of the Groton Lodge of Elks. While growing up in Groton he played Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his mother, Florence Dart Searle of Groton, 2 daughters, Kimberley Shea of Kittery, ME and Tiffany Shea of Pawcatuck, a brother, Danny T. Shea of Waterford and a sister, Linda S. Butler of Waterford , 2 grand daughters 3 nieces and 1 nephew. He was predeceased by his step father, Arthur L. Searle.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from noon unitl the time of the service. Donations in his memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 190 Gov. Winthrop Blvd., New London, CT 060320

Louise Fusconi Levesque
Born in Anagni, Italy on Jan. 21, 1913
Departed on Dec. 14, 2004 and resided in Mystic, CT.

Louise Agnes Fusconi Levesque of 129 Deerfield Ridge Dr. in Mystic, formerly of Thames St. in Groton, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, 2004 surrounded in love by her family.
The daughter of Vincenzo and Dusolina Leandri Fusconi, she was born on Jan. 21, 1913 in Anagni, Italy and came to the U. S. as an infant.
She attended Groton Heights School and WMI, transferring to Fitch High School where she was a member of the first graduating class in 1931. While at Fitch, she sang 1st soprano with the choral group.
Louise was an accomplished pianist and, as a young woman, played for the New London Symphony Orchestra and the Fusconi’s Orchestra. She had also taught piano for many years in the area.
Mrs. Levesque was a member of the Sacred Heart church in Groton, as well as the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella
She was married to the late Charles Levesque on July 20, 1940 at the old Sacred Heart Church on Eastern Point Road in Groton. Charles passed away on Feb. 11, 1984.
Louise had worked at the Thames St. branch of Fusconi Cleaners for many years.
She leaves two daughters Anita Parker and her husband Luke, with whom she lived, Jeannine Evans and her husband David of Fernandina Be., FL., four grandchildren Dr. Mark Parker and his wife Laura of Cape Elizabeth, ME., Brian Shull and his wife Michele of East Greenwich, RI., Dawn Grant of Fernandina, Beach, FL., Stephanie Mooney and her husband William also of Fernandina Beach, seven great-grandchildern Aaron, Brett, Wesley & Clara Parker, Laci Shull, Chandler and Charles Grant, She also has three step-grandchildren Mark Evans & Family of Mystic, CT., David Evans & Family of San Jose, CA., and Christopher Evans of Oregon.
Louise was also predeceased by her brother Delio Fusconi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thurs. Dec. 16, at the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Dr., Groton.
Burial will follow in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11:45 am Thurs. at the Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. prior to the Mass.
Donations may go to the Charity of the Donors Choice.

Michael Alvin Rakosky

Michael Rakosky

NEW LONDON, CT - Michael Alvin Rakosky, 66, of 894 Ocean Avenue, New London died on Monday, December 6th, while on vacation in Costa Rica.
He was born March 13, 1938 the son of Ralph and Bernice Rakosky.
Michael was married in 1960 to Betty Jane Bianco of Long Island, NY, was later married to Yvonne Rakosky his beloved wife of 26 years, and was latter married to Geraldine Ameral .
He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in 1960 and served as an officer in the Naval Reserves in the 60’s. He was active in both State and local politics
In 1964, Mike received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, and became a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. He began his law career working with his father, Atty. Ralph Rakosky. He continued in private practice in New London where he was a senior partner at Rakosky, Cable, and Haviland, PC.
During the 70’s and 80’s, while practicing law full time, Mike realized one of his life long dreams and moved to Cider Hill Farm in East Lyme. There, he and his family raised a variety of livestock. He was interested in all aspects of animal husbandry and agriculture. Mike and his family planted immense gardens and tended to exceptional landscaping at his homes.
Michael was an avid sportsman, spent years involved in youth sports activities and was a member of Union Lodge #31, AF & AM. He enjoyed his lifetime of extensive travel and lived a rich and full life. He was also a collector of antiques and was fascinated by both their beauty and the great tales of history and culture they hold
He was a partner at Cardinal Honda, and had an entrepreneurial spirit that kept him vibrant.
In addition to his wife, Michael leaves 6 children; Kim Rakosky and her husband Weldon of Philadelphia, Dan Rakosky and his wife Kathy of West Kingston, RI, Joshua Rakosky of Waterford, Sarah Davis and her husband Chip of New London, Miriam Sadinsky and her husband Hugh of Northampton, MA and Saul Sadinsky of Waterford. 5 grandchildren; Amie Rakosky, Simon and Sophie Sadinsky, and Alexandra and Yvonne Sadinsky, 2 sisters; Judith Baskin of Longmeadow, MA and Ruth Rakosky of Novato, CA and 1 brother; Ronald Rakosky of New Orleans, LA
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, December 13, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. CT. There are no calling hours. Frances Prague Rutberg

Frances Prague Rutberg, 84, of Beechwood Dr. in Waterford, formerly of Parkway South in New London, Ct. died Wed., Dec. 8, 2004 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London.
She was born on Mar. 10, 1920 in Willimantic, Ct. the daughter of Benjamin and Dora M. Prague.
Frances was married in 1946 to Morris “Mache” Rutberg in Hartford and had graduated with a degree in education from the former Willimantic Normal School, now Eastern Connecticut State University.
For many years she had been employed by the New London Board of Education as an elementary school teacher, first as a substitute while her son’s were growing up, and then full time until her retirement.
She was a member of the Congregation Beth- El in New London, a member and past president of Hadassah and the Ladies of Beth El Sisterhood.
Besides her husband, Frances is survived by her sons Alan Rutberg of Baltimore, MD, Eric Rutberg of San Francisco, CA., a sister Ann Nisson of Milford, CT., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Frances had also been predeceased by a sister Arline Krug and two brothers Franklin and Norman Prague.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm this (FRI) afternoon at the Congregation Beth- El, Ocean Ave., New London.
Burial will follow in Beth- El Cemetery in Groton.
Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London is in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia Lyon Norris

Sylvia L. Norris, 88, of 1145 Poquonnock Rd. in Groton died Tues., Dec. 7, 2004 at the Groton Regency.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1916 in North Windham, Ct., the daughter of Clarence E. and Della Lyon Norris.
She had been employed by the New London School Board as an elementary school teacher at the Edgerton School, retiring in 1984, after more than 50 years.
Sylvia was a member of the Lucretia Shaw Chapter, D.A.R.
She is survived by a sister in law Yvonne Norris, two nieces and a nephew Judith Hart, Nancy Comita and Dwight Norris, all of Virginia.
She had also been predeceased by her brother Dwight E. Norris.
Graveside service will be held at noon, Tues., Dec. 14 at the North Windham

Ruth Norton

NEW LONDON - Ruth Shawcross Norton, 93 of 189 Glenwood Avenue, New London, died Tuesday, August 27 at home.

She was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey on November 19, 1908 the daughter of William and Edna Jackson Shawcross.

Mrs. Norton was a member of the Missionary Society of the Southampton Congregational Church, and had been a very active member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Easthampton, MA where she was a former Directress of the Altar Guild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Norton in 1961, and a brother William Shawcross, Jr..

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Norton Munro with whom she made her home.

A memorial service will be at 2PM, Saturday Aug. 31st at Bishop Seabury Church, 256 North Road, Groton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Bishop Seabury Church Altar Guild. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at 1PM. Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London on historic Whale Oil Row is in charge of arrangements.

Robert D. MacGillis
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey on Jun. 30, 1936
Died on Aug. 26, 2002 and resided in Groton, CT.

Robert D. MacGillis, 66, of Groton died suddenly at home on Monday afternoon after a long struggle with Bi-polar disorder.
He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on June 30, 1036, the son of Angus and Catherine MacGillis, loving husband of Marie E. Sharkey for 42 years.
Mr. MacGillis was a devoted father to four daughters, Linda Rubin of Westmoreland, N.H., Mary MacGillis of Groton, Ct., Dawn Vowels of Simpsonville, Ky. And Doreen MacGillis of York, Me., two sons Robert M. MacGillis of Portland, Ct. and Eugene MacGillis of Ellington, Ct., two sisters Judy Coad of Florida, Sister Miriam MacGillis of New Jersey, and a brother A. Roy MacGillis of Florida, and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren.
Upon completion of high school and a two year tour of duty with the U. S. Army, Mr. MacGillis attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. After completing his studies, he began a career as an industrial illustrator for Electric Boat in Groton where he worked for 15 years while also watercolor painting on a part-time basis. In 1976, he began painting as a full-time artist. His work has been shown in many major national exhibits, and has been acquired by hundreds of private collectors, corporations, and museums. He was the recipient of over 80 national and regional art awards, and was listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who in the East and People of Achievement in North America.
He was also a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Groton, a 40 member and Past Grand Knight of the Father Murphy Council of the Knights of Columbus, member emeritus of the Salmagundi Club, and a board member to the S. E. Conn. Mental Health Council.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 Sat. Aug. 31, at the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Dr., Groton, Ct. Burial will be private.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives from 4 to 8 p.m. Fri. Aug. 30 at his residence.
