Emmanuel G. "Chic" Chalikis Sr.,

a lifelong Stamford resident, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 76.

He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.

Born April 30, 1924, in Stamford, he was a son of the late George and Theodosia Theofanakis Chalikis.

Mr. Chalikis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. As a member of the 4th Beach Battalion, he was injured in the 1944 invasion of Salerno, Italy. U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays presented Mr. Chalikis with the Purple Heart on Sept. 3, 1995, during a ceremony held for the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Mr. Chalikis was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Church of the Archangels.

He was a master mechanic and taught auto mechanics at J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Perniciaro Chalikis of Stamford; two daughters, Lou Ann Venezio and Julia Czamanski, both of Stamford; a son, Emmanuel G. Chalikis Jr. of Norwalk; two sisters, Helen Legato and Anna Ventsias, both of Stamford; two brothers, Constantine Chalikis and Alexander Chalikis, both of Stamford; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Eva Green.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 11, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, Sept. 11 at the funeral home.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, and proceed to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford St., Stamford, for a service at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Darien.

William T. O'Boy Sr.

William Thomas O'Boy Sr., a lifelong resident of Norwalk, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 69.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born July 23, 1931, in Norwalk, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rose Foster O'Boy.

Mr. O'Boy was a graduate of Norwalk High School and a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was a carpenter, a longtime builder and owner of O'Boy Construction.

He is survived by his wife, Carmela Boccanfuso O'Boy of Norwalk; two sons, William T. O'Boy Jr. and Joseph O'Boy, both of Norwalk; two daughters, Jo-Anne O'Boy and Roselyn O'Boy Tesauro, both of Norwalk; a brother, Arthur O'Boy of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; and a niece.

Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk.

Interment will take place at St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Kathryn M. Ponichtera

Kathryn "Kitty" Mary Ponichtera, a resident of Stamford and Darien, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at St. Camillus Health Center in Stamford. She was 73.

She died of heart failure, according to her family.

Born March 3, 1927, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane Browne.

She was a former employee of Baskin-Robbins and member of the Shore Haven Golf Club.

Mrs. Ponichtera is survived by her husband, Walter H. Ponichtera; two sons, Walter H. Ponichtera Jr. of Ridgefield and Kenneth W. Ponichtera of West Haven; two brothers, George Browne of Long Island, N.Y., and David Browne of California; three sisters, Lucille Tyminski of New Jersey and Rosemary Duguemin and Joan Giannitti, both of Stamford; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 11, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 at St. Clement Church, 535 Fairfield Ave., Stamford.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.

Nettie M. Sansone

Nettie M. Sansone, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 82.

She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family.

Born Feb. 3, 1918, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Christina Martinelli Galasso.

Mrs. Sansone was a homemaker.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Romanowski of Stamford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Sansone; and two stepsisters, Millie Bernard and Theresa Scalfari.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, Schuyler Avenue, Stamford.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.

Lacerenza Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Walter G. Wuchiski

Walter George Wuchiski, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 78.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born Oct. 7, 1921, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Anthony and Kathleen Wujcicki.

Mr. Wuchiski owned Wuchiski Landscape Inc. for 53 years. He was a U.S. Marine sergeant during World War II and served in the Asiatic theater, earning a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a parishioner of St. Leo Family Parish in Stamford and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9617 of Springdale and the Glenbrook Athletic Club. He was honored by the Stamford Old Timers Association at its 43rd reunion.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Russo Wuchiski of Stamford; a son, Walter A. Wuchiski of Fairfield; a daughter, Kathleen Sacco of Atlanta; three brothers, Joseph Wujcicki, Gene Wuchiski and John Wuchiski, all of Stamford; a sister, Stella Farina of Stamford; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 at Gerald R. Bosak Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford. At 7 p.m., VFW Post 9617 will hold a service to honor Mr. Wuchiski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at St. Leo Family Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the David Russo Cancer Foundation, 3 Ridgewood Ave., Stamford, CT 06907.

Edward J. Novak,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at home. He was 48.

He died of a heart attack, according to his family.

Born Feb. 3, 1952, in Derby, he was a son of John and Irma Impelliteri Novak.

Mr. Novak graduated from Ansonia High School and the Assumption School. He was a machine operator at Farrel Co. in Ansonia for 16 years.

He is survived by a son, Mark A. Novak of Colorado; two daughters, Dawn M. Heidi of Stratford and Christina L. Novak of Naugatuck; a brother, John A. Novak Jr. of West Haven; two sisters, Joan Student of Maine and Mary Ann Barone of Ansonia; and four grandchildren.

Emma Eymer Sullivan,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at Smith House Health Care Center. She was 95.

She died after a long illness, according to her family.

Mrs. Sullivan was born Aug. 13, 1905, in Staten Island, N.Y.

She worked for the Stamford Red Cross and was a volunteer guide at Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford. She was a member of the Roxbury Community Association and a charter member of the Roxbury Swim and Tennis Club. She also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rye Brook, N.Y., and a past president of the Metropolitan Synod, ELCA, of Lutheran Church Women.

She is survived by her husband, Merton B. Sullivan of Stamford.

She was predeceased by a sister, Margarethe Bedford; and a brother, William Eymer.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at St. Paul's Church in Rye Brook.

Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Memorial Fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 761 King St., Rye Brook, N.Y. 10573.
