Barbara Steward (Bobby), of New Haven died at Fowlers Nursing Home in Guilford at age 82, after spending 4 months of precious time with friends and family. Bobby was born in Constantinople, Turkey (now Istanbul) and lived with her missionary parents in Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon. She moved with her parents and sister to the States at age 13 and lived in Kansas and New York City before settling in Connecticut in 1957. Bobby was a Professor of Occupational Therapy at Quinnipiac University, nurturing and launching the careers of hundreds of occupational therapists. After retirement, she continued her lifetime passion for learning, taking classes at the Institute for Learning in Retirement which included Scottish dance and Japanese floral arrangement. She was a key member of the community where she lived on Nash St. in New Haven, and active in the Unitarian Society. Her second career was that of a story teller. In the character of Mother Goose and with her tireless companion Goosey Gander, she became a well known story teller, traveling throughout CT delighting children and their parents. In recognition of her efforts she received The Barbara Reed Award for distinguished and outstanding service to the storytelling community. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Smyers, daughter Pamela Harding, son-in-law David Harding, two sons Richard & Scott Steward and four beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted companion, Manny Liebenson and their dog Molly. Bobby brought tremendous joy to the lives she touched, and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Celebration of her Life will be on Wednesday, January 2 at 10 AM at the Unitarian Society, 700 Old Hartford Turnpike, Hamden, CT. Elvira "Vera" Cenimo Nuzzelillo of 159 Parker Farms Rd, Wallingford died at home December 9, 2007. She is the wife of the late Andrew Nuzzelillo. Vera was born in New Haven November 5, 1923 daughter of the late Antonio and Palma Bove Cenimo. She worked for the New Haven Clock Co. and later for the Atwater Senior Center and Bella Vista Senior Center and most recently for the Community Action Agency. She loved playing bingo, taking bus trips, and dancing. She was the "belle of the ball." She is the mother of Andrea DePino, Alfred and Richard Nuzzelillo. Sister of the late Rose DePalma, Millie DeSimone, Nicholas, Anthony, and Raymond Cenimo. Step sister of the late Terry Minchinko, Ann Perillo, and Rose Ciolino. Louis M. Federico, age 82, of Derby entered into eternal rest on Monday, Dec. 10. 2007 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was the devoted husband for 61 years of Claire Falcone Federico. Mr. Federico was born in Derby on May 10, 1925 son of the late Aniello and Mary Benanto Federico and was a life long Derby resident. Louis was an employee of the former B.F. Goodrich Company and then Sikorsky Aircraft where he worked in the shipping department until his retirement. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during WW II. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandson Ryan Federico, caring niece and nephew Helen and Daniel Marini and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Neil Federico, brothers Michael, Joseph and Charles Federico and sisters Rose DAgosa and Ruby Sardo. His funeral will leave the Edward F. FITCH, JOHN HAROLD
John Harold Fitch, of Titusville, FL and West Haven, Ct, died on Sunday, December 8, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. He was 78, John was born in Ashland, KY on December 2, 1929 and lived in Ashland and Philadelphia, PA before joining the U.S. Air Force at age 18. After his enlistment in the Air Force, John joined the Army, where he stayed for 30 years in both active duty and reserve status; becoming a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his time in the Army he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He would eventually obtain Jump Master status with the 82nd, and also received his Korean jump wings. At the age of 48 he was qualified as a US Army Special Forces Green Beret. John was also a career law enforcement officer, beginning with the Norfolk, VA Police Department where he held the distinction of being that citys first motorcycle patrol officer. Later in his career John would come to work for the Titusville Police Department where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and also had the distinction at the time of being the only motorcycle officer for that department. After retiring from his service related careers, John worked at Kennedy Space Center for Morton Thiokoi, where he was tasked with preparing the solid rocket boosters for the space shuttle. John was also very active in the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and was past Exalted Ruler of the West Haven, Cocoa, and Titusville lodges. He was also a member of the Masons and the Scottish Rite. John is survived by a sister, Carol Stephan of Titusville and two sons, Lawrence Fitch of Melbourne and Charles Quesenberry of Rising Sun, MD. A service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 15th at North Brevard Funeral Home, Titusville, followed by a Military Honor Guard Ceremony at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, also in Titusville. Henry "Hank" R. Lewonczyk, age 64, of Ansonia, beloved husband of 27 years of Judy (Marshall) Lewonczyk, died on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Yale New Haven Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 12, 1943 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Henry P. and Mary Ann Stone Lewonczyk. He was a retired welder for Allied Signal in Stratford. He enjoyed his many hobbies which included gun smithing, fishing, boating and a great love of Native American artifacts which he collected. Hank loved cars and motorcycles, especially his Mustangs. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Robert Lewonczyk and his wife, Susan and Christian Lewonczyk, both of Stratford; one daughter, Cindy Prosenak and her husband, Andrew of Stratford; one sister, Mary Ann Borquez of South Carolina; his mother-in-law, Louise Marshall of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several aunts, uncles, cousins & nieces & nephews. Muriel Frances Conners, 66, of Westbrook, passed away on December 8, 2007 after her courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Born on May 26, 1941 in New Haven, CT, Muriel is the daughter of Walter Francis and Genevieve (Buckley) Lewis. Francis W. Spencer, husband of Dora Belbusti Spencer of East Haven, died December 10, 2007, at the Connecticut Hospice. He was born in West Haven, on Nov. 6, 1920, son of the late William and Anna Farrell Spencer. He had been an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 90. Thomas Francis Linehan Sr.
Thomas Francis Linehan Sr., 84, of Cromwell, beloved husband of Dorothy (McIntyre) Linehan for 62 years, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Lemieux) Linehan.
Tom lived in Cromwell for 58 years, where he was a member of St. John Church, Knights of Columbus Desoto Council No. 6 and the Cromwell Senior Bowling League. He worked at Standard Knapp for 44 years, retiring in 1987, and was a World War II U.S. Navy combat veteran, serving in the South Pacific.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Thomas “Tim” Linehan Jr. and his wife, Doreen, of Chalfont, Pa., James A. Linehan and his wife, Kathleen, of Tampa, Fla., and Kevin J. Linehan and his wife, Deborah, of Cromwell; two daughters, Karen L. Bragg of Middletown and Carol Linehan of Cromwell; a sister, Carol Moriarty of Rocky Hill; nine grandchildren, Micole E. Linehan, Seth A. Linehan, Stefan Linehan and his wife, Yuko, Nick Linehan and his wife, Samantha, Brian Linehan and his wife, Liz, Melissa Linehan, Justin Linehan, Naomi Bragg and Simone Bragg; three great-grandsons, Kaisei, Ryusei and Thomas Linehan; and several nieces and nephews.
