Tommaso Altamura,

of Dasa, Italy, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at his home. He was 68.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Oct. 26, 1932, in Ariola, Italy, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Stella Altamura.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Altamura of Dasa; three sons, Raffaele Altamura, Giuseppe Altamura and Michele Altamura, all of Italy; a daughter, Stella Altamura of Italy; a sister, Caterina Valenzisi of Stamford; five brothers, Ilario Altamura of Stamford, Giuseppe Altamura, Michele Altamura and Rocco Altamura, all of Ariola, Italy, and Dominick Altamura of Montreal; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Vincenzo Altamura.

A memorial service will be held at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Calling hours will follow the memorial service at the home of Caterina Valenzisi, 56 Woodbury Ave., Stamford.

Mr. Altamura was buried in Italy.

Bernard P. Milligan,

a Trumbull resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 37.

He died in a construction accident in Norwalk, according to his family.

Born Sept. 27, 1963, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Bernard P. Milligan Sr. and Sandra Frobe Milligan Sr. of Florida.

Mr. Milligan was owner and president of Quality Mechanical Plumbing Contractors of Stamford. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 1982. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnette Necerato Milligan of Trumbull; a daughter, Jenna Milligan of Trumbull; two sons, Andrew Milligan and Kenneth Milligan, both of Trumbull; a sister, Sara Milligan of Florida; two brothers, John Milligan and Joseph Milligan, both of Florida; and his paternal grandmother, Sarah Milligan of Florida.

Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, and travel to the Bethany Assembly of God, 2 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, for a funeral service at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road in Stamford.

Isidore Kernychny,

a Stamford resident, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 85.

He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.

Born June 15, 1915, in Ansonia, he was a son of the late Michael and Ewdokia Boyko Kernychny.

He was an electrical engineer at Barnes Engineering Co. until retiring. He was a member of St. Vladimir's Church and the Men's Club.

He is survived by two cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Wasil Kernychny.

Calling hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Ansonia.

Jan C. Moltzau of Kernersville,

N.C., a former Fairfield resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was 69.

He died of lung cancer, according to his family.

Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Brussels, Belgium, he was a son of the late Arnie and Florence Whitehurst Moltzau.

Mr. Moltzau graduated from Lawrenceville Preparatory School in New Jersey and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

He served in the U.S. Air Force Secret Intelligence Department during the Korean War. He also worked as coordinator of special projects for the Texaco Marine Department, where he worked for more than 36 years until retiring in 1993.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Laria of Stamford and Leslie Kerr of Kernersville; a son, Ian Scott Moltzau of Fairfield; a sister, Peggy Scott-Hansen of New York; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Gaston Moltzau; and a brother, Alfred Humphrey.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today, Dec. 16, 2000 at St. Thomas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Yale-New Haven Hospital Oncology Fund for Lung Cancer Research, In Memory of Jan Moltzau, 20 York St., GB545, New Haven, CT 06504.

Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport, is handling arrangements.

Joseph "Pop" Loughran,

a longtime Greenwich resident, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home in Greenwich. He was 97.

He died of natural causes, according to his family said. Born Feb. 28, 1903, in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, he was the son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Nugent Loughran.

Mr. Loughran immigrated to Greenwich in 1926, and worked for 25 years at Electrolux Corp.. He later worked at Fleet Bank in Cos Cob.

He is survived by a son, James J. Loughran of Greenwich; a daughter, Alice Hyland of Greenwich; a sister, Maryann McGurk of County Tyrone; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a nephew and several nieces. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Loughran; a son, U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Joseph Loughran; two brothers, Patrick Loughran and Michael Loughran; and a sister, Alice Loughran.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at St. Mary Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on North Street in Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patient Recreational Fund, Nathaniel Witherell, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Ruth H. Hewlett,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 94.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Jan. 9, 1906, in Mahanoy City, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Peter T. and Isabella Benedicta Pfleghar Flanagan.

Mrs. Hewlett was a legal secretary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen M. Hewlett; two brothers, Thomas Flanagan and John Flanagan; and two sisters, Marion Savage and Rose Flanagan.

There are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 at St. John's Church, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.

Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, handled arrangements.

Sally P. Brach,

a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Mediplex of Stamford. She was 78.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born June 1, 1922. in Middletown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Adamczyk.

Mrs. Brach was a graduate of Stamford High School. She worked in the accounting department at Pitney Bowes in Stamford. She also was a clerical worker at the former St. Joseph Medical Center Marion Pavilion and at the former Miller Lillipution, both in Stamford.

She is survived by a grandson, Bobby Brach of Newbury, Ohio; three nieces, Missy Cole of Stamford, Elizabeth Marcel of Lexington, Mass., and Bernadette Kominek of Darien; two nephews, Ted Cole of Syracuse, N.Y., and Stanley Brach of Allendale, N.J.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Brach; a son, Glen Brach; and a sister, Jean Cole.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 4 Pulaski St., Stamford.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Inc., 1029 Main St., Stamford, CT 06902.

The Bosak-Talboys Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, is handling arrangements.
