Nelson Pacheco,
retired from Perdue
Nelson Pacheco, 67, of Milton, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 67.
He was born May 23, 1938, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of the late Alfredo Pacheco and Gloria Rodriguez.
Mr. Pacheco was employed with Perdue for more than 23 years before retiring in 2003.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Monsi Pacheco.
He is survived by his former wife, Delores Pacheco; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Maria and Darnell Trotter of Delmar, Md., Anita and Gordon Holley of New Castle, Barbara Pacheco of Seaford, Nicole and David Pacheco of Seaford, Priscilla and Demond Pacheco of Bridgeville, Lucesita and Rodney Parker of Laurel and Renata Pacheco of New Castle; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Nelson Jr., and Shelly Pacheco of Lincoln, and Carlos Pacheco and Ricardo Pacheco, both of Laurel; two brothers, Jose “Freddy” Rodriguez of Lincoln and Porfi Pacheco of Puerto Rico; three sisters, Aida Pacheco of Georgetown and Irma Pacheco and Gladys Pacheco, both of Puerto Rico; 22 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held in the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Slaughter Neck.

Bruce K. Puterbaugh,
Accelent retiree
Bruce Kent Puterbaugh, 64, of Lewes, passed away at his residence Monday, May 1, 2006.
He was born July 10, 1941 in Dayton, Oh., son of the late Aaron Dale Puterbaugh and Janet Peele Puterbaugh Ballentine.
Bruce was a former resident of Pottstown, Pa., retiring from the Accelent Corp. in Collegeville, Pa. He also played on the Pottstown Firebird Football Team. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Brower Puterbaugh; a daughter, Laurie Kendricks of Tequesta, Fla.; a son John K. Puterbaugh of Pottstown; two grandchildren, Tony and Ashley Guerrero, both of Tequesta, Fla.; a sister, Debbie Wiemers of Dayton; and a brother, Daniel Ballentine of Dayton.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. The family suggests contributions be made to: Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 430, Nassau, DE 19969.
Marguerite D. Stevens,
CIA retiree
Marguerite Dick Stevens, 99, died of pneumonia at Beebe Medical Center, Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
She was born on December 25, 1907, in Staunton, Va., daughter of the late, and then, Lt. William W. Dick and his wife Marguerite Buist Dick.
She was raised at various military posts around the world. On July 20, 1927, at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, she married Lt. Francis Robert Stevens. She continued to live in widespread locations from Paris, France to the Hawaiian Islands, and various military posts around the United States.
When her husband was killed in combat early in World War II, she settled in Washington, D.C., where she initially took a position heading a special task force for the U.S. House of Representatives. After the war was over, she joined the newly forming Central Intelligence Agency, where she worked for the next 30 years.
She lived in the Westchester Apartments in Washington until 2000, when she moved to Rehoboth Beach. She resided at the Brandywine Assisted Living Facility until this past February when she broke a leg and a hip and had to move into a convalescent center.
She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Bordwell; and her son, Francis Robert Stevens Jr.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 9 a.m., in the Ft. Myer Chapel, Arlington National cemetery . Following the service, she will be interred at the cemetery.
Tessie DiFede,
avid Yankees fan
Tessie DiFede, 93, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Harbor Health Care, Lewes.
Tessie was born August 3, 1912, in New York City, to Anthony and Illuminata Miele Scordia. She was one of six children.
Tessie enjoyed watching her soap operas and she was an avid Yankee’s fan.
Mrs. DiFede was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. DiFede is survived by her two sons, Mario J. and wife Helen of Lewes; Anthony F. and wife Katherine of Lansdale, Pa.: one daughter, Loretta M. Smith of Milton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment was private.
A memorial service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 13.
Agnes M. Fisher,
Pennsylvania native
Agnes M. Scheivert Fisher, 72, of Millsboro, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at home.
Born in Rockdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Murphy Sheivert.
A resident of Millsboro, for the past four years, she previously lived in Stanton, and lived in Aston, Pa. most of her life. Mrs. Fisher worked in the kitchen at Penn State University, Delaware County Campus, for two years, retiring in 1991. A 1953 graduate of Notre Dame High School, she was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, and loved the beach, flowers, her children and grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lenni, Pa.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James E. Fisher; a son, James E. Fisher, Jr. of Aston; daughters, Diane Adams of Orange Park, Fla., Sharon Dawson, Theresa Walls and Cathy Smith, all of Wilmington, and Marie Digerness of Pennsville, N.J.; sisters, Betty Snelling of Marion, Ks., Kitty Applegate of Egg Harbor, N.J. and Marie Taylor of Greenburg, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 5, in Union cemetery , E. Adams St., Georgetown.
Christine ‘Teen’ Seivers,

Christine “Teen” Seivers, 86, of Millsboro died peacefully Monday, May 1, 2006, in Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro.
Mrs. Seivers was born in Berea, Ky., but spent most of her young to late adulthood in Ohio.
She followed her children to Delaware in 1972 and happily resided in Sussex County. Throughout the years, she owned and operated her own drapery and custom upholstery business and worked for several custom design studios in the area, including J. Conn Scott, Wards Upholstery and Mark Showell Interiors.
Mrs. Seivers loved to sew, sell Avon and visit with friends and family. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Seivers, in 1992; three sisters, Mary Roberts, Alice Rom and Naomi Warman; a brother, William Pennington; and two grandchildren, Billy Hubbard and Ted Hubbard.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Bill and Kathy of Milford, Church and Judy Hubbard of Huber Heights, Oh. and Denny and Pat Hubbard of Georgetown; a daughter, Brenda Boone and her fiance, Martin Rudder of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford. Burial was in Union cemetery
Georgetown.
Laurence J. Cugini,

Laurence J. Cugini, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away quietly at his residence on Sunday evening, April 30, 2006. Mr. Cugini, born in Brooklyn, NY, was the only son of the late Joseph and Enes Cugini.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was honorably discharged. After the war he formed a successful manufacturing business in New Jersey. He retired to Rehoboth Beach and spent his final years with his wife Lucy and family.
He was predeceased by a sister Vivian. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 28 years, Lucy; his children, Patricia, Cathy, Frank, Elizabeth, and Florence; and eight grandchildren.
Prayer Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2006 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, with Deacon John Smith, St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist cemetery , 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.

Phyllis E. Spera,

Phyllis Elaine Spera, 66, of Milton, died Monday, May 1, 2006, in the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, following a long illness. She was born Jan. 14, 1940, daughter of the late Howard and Ethel (Post) Nicholson.
Mrs. Spera was a retired teacher from Woodbridge High School, Bridgeville. She also taught school in Salem and Charleston, W.Va., for 14 years.
She is survived by her husband, John S. Spera of Milton; two sons, Charles E. Wilson of Mobile, Ala., and David H. Wilson of Charleston, W.Va.; a daughter, Catherine E. Wilson of Milton; two brothers, Terry Nicholson of Wooster, Ohio, and Phillip Nicholson of Silver Spring, Md.; and two grandsons, Lucas and Jacob.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday in Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem, W.Va., where friends may call four hours earlier. Thursday. The Rev. Robert Florian will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Methodist Church cemetery , Jarvisville, W.Va.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Woodbridge Education Association Scholarship Fund.
Linda G. Hammond,

Linda Gray Hammond, 65, of Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, died on Sunday, April 30, 2006.
Linda was born in Wilmington to the late Paul C. Gray and Lillian Christy Gray Lennox, graduated from P.S. duPont High School, and attended Goldey Beacom College.
She dedicated her life to raising and nurturing her family, and found the time to volunteer for the Mt. Pleasant Squires, the Mt. Pleasant High School Marching Band, and Wilmington Friends School. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Linda worked for Retirement Living, Inc. and later worked part-time for the Brandywine School District and the Delaware Resort Transit.
She is survived by her husband, G. William Hammond; a son, Daniel P. Dolinger and his wife, Gayle, of Newark; three daughters, Christy L. Dolinger Hammond and her fiancé, Daniel P. Farley, Hope V. Hammond, and Alexandra M. Hammond, all of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Daniel Frazier, Crystal Dolinger, Matthew Frazier, D. Patrick Dolinger, and Victoria E. Farley; a sister, Joan Aiken, of Ocean City, Md.; and a brother, Robert Lennox of Arlington, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 5, at McCrery Memorial Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville, officiated by Rev. John Dean. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
Percy Devo Pearson,

Percy Devo Pearson, 98, of Baltimore, Md., died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Lewes Convalescent Center.
Mr. Pearson was born July 12, 1907, in Woodruff, S.C., son of the late John and Noni (Foster) Pearson.
After attending public schools, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard-Merchant Marine, where he served for more than 50 years as messman, cook and utility man on the Woodrow Wilson, Joyce Kilmer, Flomar, Thomas B. King, Edward B. Haines and the Lunsford Richardson. He served during World War I and II. He was honorably discharged May 12, 1959, as a merchant seaman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven younger brothers, Stephen, Doss, Luke, Jay D., John B., Prerose and Aaron J.; a sister, Ores; an aunt, Blanche (Foster) Prince; a niece, Mary Ann Bostic; and five cousins, Wilhelmina Foster, Vitelle (Boozer) Harrison, Lawrence “Al” Allen, James Drayton and Argatha Williams.
He is survived by two nieces, Delores Mosley-Easley of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jennie Chapman of Millsboro.; a nephew, Doss Pearson Jr., of Philadelphia; nine cousins, Walter B. Reader of Woodruff, S.C., Dr. Selma Harrison of Columbus, Ohio, Doris McPherson, Ernest Foster Jr., Carolyn Scott, Dr. Marilyn Corder, Marcia Foster, all of Maryland, Lettie Polite of Asheville, N.C., Garland Harrison Jr., of Camden, Ark., and a devoted cousin, Lucy Allen of Millsboro.; a special friend, Evelyn Longus; three great-nephews, Spencer Evans of Atlanta, Ga., Tech Sgt., Maurice Evans of Stuttgart, Germany, and Jason Hall of Pennsauken, N.J.; two great-great-nephews; a great-great-niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held in St. George’s Episcopal Chapel, Angola, with burial in the St. George’s Episcopal Chapel cemetery.

Kenneth W. Jackson,
retired from Goodyear
Kenneth W. Jackson, 89, of Barrington, N.J., died Thursday, April 27, 2006.
Mr. Jackson was born in Philadelphia, and was a 1935 graduate of Roxboro High School. In 1937, he married his wife, Marjorie, at Lewes Presbyterian Church. In 1938, he began working for U.S. Rubber Co. until 1946, when he began his career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he retired in 1976 as a supervisor at the Public Service Depot in Camden, N.J.
A 60-year resident of Barrington, Mr. Jackson served as the president of the Barrington School Board from 1983 to 1987. He was an active member of the Barrington First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie Derrickson Jackson.
He is survived by his children, Kenneth W. Jackson Jr. at home and Neil Brereton Jackson Sr. and his wife Darlene of Forest, Va.; his grandchildren, Neil B. Jackson Jr. of Natick, Mass., Devon Scott Jackson and his wife Angela of Lynchburg, Va. and Laura Erin Jackson of Lynchburg, Va.; his great-grandson, Gavin Jackson Coles of Lynchburg; and two nieces, Jeannette West of Ocean View and Helen Lampe of Pottstown, Pa.
Services were held at Popiolek Funeral Home, Barrington, with burial in Bethel Methodist cemetery , Lewes.

Julia Ann Turner, 47, of Frederica, died Wednesday, April 26, at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mrs. Turner was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert T. Turner; her mother, Mary Ann Thompson; two sons, Robert Turner Jr. and Dan Turner; two daughters, Amanda and Kristin Turner; two brothers, Ted Thompson and Joe Thompson; two sisters, Wanda Thompson and Mary Jane Campbell; and seven grandchildren.
