Maxine S. Brown, 81, of Chadds Ford, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at her daughter’s residence in Coatesville, Pa.
Mrs. Brown was the wife of the late James W. Brown, who died in 1996 and with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Ashe County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Wade and Mary Jones Barker.
She was a member of FRP Committee and a member of the Administration Board at Marshallton Methodist Church, vice president and active member of the United Methodist Women, an active member of the 347 Order of the Eastern Star in Cochranville, Pa., where she was a Worthy Matron. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she enjoyed crafts and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by four children, Robert, Sandy, Jimmy and Petie Brown; and by a brother, Russell Barker and a sister, Evone Durborow.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Linda Davidson of Coatesville, Pa.; two brothers, Wade Barker Jr. of West Grove, Pa. and Richard Barker of Landenberg, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Alfree of Rehoboth Beach; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Kuzo & Gofus Funeral Home, State and Meredith Streets, Kennett Square, Pa. Burial will be in St. Joseph-on-the-Brandywine cemetery.

E. Pearl Woodall, 91, of Rehoboth Beach, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Woodall was born in Willards, Md., the daughter of the late Emory and Dorothy Mae Lewis. She was the former owner of the Sail In Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach during the 1950s and 1960s. She loved her family and in her spare time enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Shockley; two sisters, Levina Pizzica and Hazel Nichols; five brothers, Thomas Lewis Sr., Joshua E. Lewis, Edward Lewis, Frank and Preston Lewis.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Franklin R. Woodall; two daughters, Elizabeth “Teeny” Chandler and Barbara Ann Booker,” a sister, Alberta Brooks Nichols; three grandsons, William P. Shockley III, Michael Shockley and Robert Wilkins; four granddaughters, Denise Tripp and her husband Dennis, Linda Tripp and her husband Alan, Lorraine Edwards and Brenda Baker; numerous great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, with burial in Prince George’s cemetery , Dagsboro.

Robert J. Neish,

Robert J. “Pony Tail Bob” Neish, 64, of Milton and formerly of McKeesport, Pa., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Neish was a retired journeyman-lineman for Union Local 126 I.B.E.W. He was past master of East McKeesport Masonic Lodge 765 FM&AM and a member of Elks Lodge 11 of Pittsburgh, Pa., and served in the U.S. Army. He was also an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nickolaus Bedwell.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Mumford Niesh; a son, Robert J. Neish Jr.; six stepchildren; two brothers, Pat and Arnie McGuire; a sister, Tina Anderson; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews and six nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Fluffy.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Long Neck Chapel, Melson Funeral Services, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
Flowers are acceptable, or the family suggests contributions to either the American Heart Association, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown DE 19947 or Leukemia Society of America, 824 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington DE 19809.

Emily Rodney Wildt, 92, of Henlopen Acres, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes. She was the wife of the late Christy V. Wildt Jr.
Mrs. Wildt was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and the Rehoboth Art League as well as a member of Henlopen Acres Beach Club and a former member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
She attended West Virginia University and was a 65-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was also a member of the Colonial Dames of America.
She is survived by a son, Chris Wildt of Lewes, Cape Gazette's cartoonist; two daughters, Mimi Bodamer of Vienna, Va. and Nancy Driver of Lookout Mountain, Tenn. She has eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. George’s Chapel.

Barbara J. Boone, 65, of Lewes, died of natural causes Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes.
Mrs. Boone was born Feb. 5, 1939 in Northampton County, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clark and Mozzellar White; two sisters, Mozell Matthews and Oddie Pearl Holmes; and two brothers, Mack Matthews and James Clark Jr.
She is survived by a son, Warner Clayton Boone of Magnolia; a daughter, Queen Elizabeth Boone of Queens, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Maya Boone of Queens; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hollis of Queens; two sisters, Pattie Matthews of Bridgeville and Violet Broughton of Seaford; four brothers, Lee Clemons of Jackson, N.C., Temecorie Matthews of Georgetown, and Andrew Matthews and Redell Matthews, both of Bridgeville; a sister-in-law, Annie Clemons of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Robert Broughton of Seaford; a daughter-in-law, Sadie Boone of Magnolia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Bridgeville, with burial in Mount Calvary cemetery , Concord.
Sheila Mae Eggers,

Sheila Mae Eggers, 50, of Milford, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Eggers was born April 3, 1954, in Elkton, Md., the daughter of Stella Viars Kellum of Elkton and the late Earl M. Kellum.
She was a waitress for many years at the Robin Hood Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach and, most recently, at the Hollywood Diner in Dover. She retired in 2003 due to illness.
She enjoyed playing pool and attending races at the Cecil County (Md.) Dragway.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Kellum.
She is survived by her husband of nine years, Joseph H. Eggers III; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Heather Kellum of Chesapeake City, Md.; her mother, Stella Kellum of Elkton; a brother, Larry D. Kellum of Mansfield, Texas; a sister, Sheree A. Aufiero of Newark; and two grandchildren, Connor Kellum and Riley Kellum.
Services were held at Rogers Funeral Home, Milford, with burial private.

John Earl Burke,
retired from Scott Paper
John Earl Burke, 77, of Lewes, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Burke was born in Marcus Hook, Pa. on March 17, 1927. He was employed by Scott Paper Co., Chester Pa., where he retired after more than 40 years of service several years ago.
He was a life member of VFW 7447 and the American Legion Post 28 and member of AmVets Post 2 and the Cape Henlopen Elks 2540. He will be missed by all who loved him, enjoyed his smile and laughed at the jokes he loved to tell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Burke.
He is survived by his brother, Jesse Burke and nephew, Jay Burke both of Boothwyn, Pa. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Selma Weiss of Lewes.

Robert E. LaVigne,

Robert E. LaVigne, 56, of Lititz, Pa., and Rehoboth Beach, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, due to natural causes.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Malcolm and Mary LaVigne.
He was the husband of Linda Ludwig LaVigne; they were married 32 years on Dec. 3.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and animals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey C., husband of Molly A. Lieberman LaVigne of Catasauqua; a daughter, Jessica D., wife of Jeremy P. Diffenderfer of Lititz; three brothers, Donald LaVigne of Lititz, Barry LaVigne of Charlotte, N.C., and Richard LaVigne of Richmond, Va.; and a sister, Sally Fry of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen LaVigne.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, Pa., with the Rev. Barbara A. Caruana officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m.

John L. Dorfmann, 80, of Millsboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born in Corona, New York and was a retired supervisor for Merle Lynch Inc. with 37 years of service.
He was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; daughter, Jeanne Marie Wengal and her husband Michael; a stepbrother, O. George Boettiger; and sister, Helen Greenough.
A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church on Route 24 in Millsboro. Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro. Interment will be in the National Veterans cemetery
in Bourne, Mass.
Edgar F. Lingo,

Edgar F. Lingo, 70, of Rehoboth Beach and a former Staten Islander in New York, died at home Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004. Mr. Lingo graduated from New Dorp High School.
He joined the Merchant Marines when he was 18 years old. Mr. Lingo was a Merchant Marine on salvage ships. He was chief engineer for Merritt Chapman & Scott for many years. Later Mr. Lingo was a chief engineer for the Staten Island Ferry.
Upon retiring in 1996 to Rehoboth Beach, Mr. Lingo enjoyed designing and building vacation homes. Mr. Lingo’s other interests included gardening and automobile repair.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar B. Lingo and Ethel “Austin” Lingo.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Atkinson Lingo of Rehoboth Beach; his son Edward Lingo and his wife Elizabeth of Waukesha, Wis.; his son James Lingo of Staten Island; his daughter Holly Hernandez and her husband Robert of Easton, Pa.; and four grandaughers, Heather, Melissa and Mallory Hernandez of Easton and Julia Lingo of Waukesha.
Funeral services will be at noon, Friday, Sept. 3, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Interment will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, at St. John’s cemetery , Springfield Crossroads, near Georgetown.

Charles H. Reynolds,

Charles H. Reynolds, 75, of Lewes, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at home after a long illness.
Born in New Castle, Charlie joined the Delaware National Guard while still in his teens and was activated during the Korean War. He was a 45-year member of Local 74 Plumbers and Pipefitters and a long time employee of the former Wm. D. Shellady Company.
When his sons were growing up, he participated in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 57, activities at St. Patrick’s Church in Kennett Square, Pa., the Optimists club, serving as president for two terms, Longwood Fire Co., Po-Mar-Lin Fire Co. and served many years as president of the Southern Chester County Rescue Association. When he retired in 1981, he and his wife moved to their home in Angola by the Bay.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise Bonifacino Reynolds; and his seven sons, Charles H. Jr and his wife Glenda of Kennett Square, Pa., Thomas e. of El Paso, Texas, Richard J. and his wife Rose Marie of West Grove, Pa., Joseph M. and his wife Dawn of Gales Ferry, Ct., William V. and his wife Jacqueline of Avondale, Pa., David L. and his wife Karen of West Grove, Pa. and Neal F. of Avondale, Pa. Charles was also the proud “Pop Pop” to 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaretta R. Scheirer of Smyrna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Laurence Jr. and sister, Frances Reynolds.
A memorial reception was held at the Angola by the Bay clubhouse with burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Millsboro. Anna Elizabeth “Noonie” Holtzlander, 84, of Edgefield, S.C. and formerly of Wilmington, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Holtzlander was a native of Edgefield County and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Edgefield. She was a retired social worker.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Holtzlander; a daughter, Christine Hodgson of Edgefield; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph H. and Lynn Holtzlander of Lewes; a sister, Katherine Scavens of Edgefield; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Willowbrook cemetery
