Boyce W. Hearn, 87, of Delmar died peacefully Friday, June 2, 2006, in his home.
Mr. Hearn was born in Seaford, son of the late Walter E. Hearn and Iva (Boyce) Hearn.
He was a self-employed truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melinda West; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Hearn; four brothers, Chester Hearn, Francis Hearn, Lee Hearn and Manning Hearn; and a sister, Evelyn Marvel
He is survived by his wife, Reba E. Hearn of Delmar; three sons and two daughter-in-law, Walter “Walt” Hearn of Laurel, Dennis and Cheryl Hearn of Seaford and Vaughn and Patricia Hearn of Delmar; two daughters and a son-in-law, Delores Maccari of Lewes and Debbie and Mike Jones of Laurel; two brothers, Warren Hearn and Hollis Hearn, both of Seaford; four sisters, Mildred Morgan of Federalsburg, Md., Isabelle Chandler of Milton and Doris Wilson and Kathleen Hastings, both of Seaford; five grandsons and five granddaughters-in-law, Vaughn and Wendy Hearn of Delmar, Andrew and Sabrina Hearn of Seaford and Walter and Lisa Hearn, Mike and Maryln Evans and Jeff and Tracey Evans, all of Laurel; seven granddaughters and four grandsons-in-law, Wanda and Levin Layton of Pittsville, Md., Stacey and Jeff Dawson of Georgetown, Jennifer Scarbrough of Laurel, Laura Beth and Jamie Foskey of Pittsville, Amanda Jones of Lewes and Robin and Collin Wright and Megan Jones, all of Newark; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. John Van Tine will officiate.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christiana Care Visiting Nurses, 600 North DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
Paul William Fry,
retired supervisor
Paul William Fry, 78, of Millsboro and formerly of Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Fry worked as a supervisor for the Philadelphia Electric Company for 45 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann F. Fry; a son, Mark Fry of Landenberg, Pa.; two daughters, Gail Slaughter of Seaford and Jill Gram of Newport News, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, at the Long Neck chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Millsboro.

Esther Kelso,
centenarian
Esther (Birch) Kelso, 100, of Lincoln died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in her home.
Mrs. Kelso was born April 15, 1906, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late William J. and Bertha Mary (Strickland) Birch.
She celebrated her 100th birthday this year.
She was a homemaker and for many years, while living in Rehoboth Beach, was very active in child evangelism work.
Mrs. Kelso had been a Lincoln resident since 1965.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh S. Kelso, in 2002; and a son, Hugh Kelso Jr., in 1970.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley M. Dickerson of Lincoln and Ruth K. Dominic of Harrington; two sisters, Margaret B. McCune of Lewes and Kathleen Walker of Georgetown; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lincoln cemetery , Clendaniel Pond Road, Lincoln.

Carolyn Z. Dill,
Secret Service employee
Carolyn Z. Dill of Milford, 91, formerly of Felton, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in the Milford Center.
Mrs. Dill was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Greensboro, Md., daughter of the late Otto D. and M. Eugenia (Hoffecker) Zacharias.
She was a 1931 graduate of Greensboro High School.
Her job career took her to Rehoboth Beach, Philadelphia, and Washington with the Secret Service Commission. She went on to own a baby shop in Harrington, then worked for and retired from the ILC of Frederica as a payroll clerk.
She married Edgar W. Dill Jr. in 1946 and lived on the family farm. They left the farm in 1980 to move closer to town in Wyoming.
Mrs. Dill was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church and a life member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Greensboro.
She loved her church and church work and was very active in many organizations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar W. Dill Jr., in 1998; five brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by three nieces, Susan Z. Calloway, Eugenia Z. McGary and Margaret Z. Cole; two nephews, Daniel J. Zacharias and John R. Zacharias; six great-nephews; a great-niece; a great-great niece; and a host of friends.
Services were held in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, with burial will be in Greensboro cemetery.

Lois A. Kleitz,
beloved mother
Lois Kleitz passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on May 31, 2006 at the University of Maryland Medical Center surrounded by her loving family at her bedside.
Lois was born in Wilmington on Nov. 29, 1934. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1952. Lois met her devoted husband of 49 years in 1950 in Charlestown, Md. and lived in Delaware where they raised a family of three boys.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Kleitz Sr., her mother, Ann Duggan, and her daughter-in-law, Sharyn L. Kleitz.
Lois is survived by her three sons, John Kleitz Jr. of Lewes, William Kleitz and his wife Diane and David Kleitz and his wife Donna, all of Wilmington; a sister-in-law, Barbara Yeatman and her husband James of West Grove, Pa,; four grandchildren, Kathryn Kleitz of Lewes, Stacy Kleitz, William Kleitz, and Michael Kleitz all of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, John James Kleitz of Lewes, Lexus Wright and Faith Kleitz both of Wilmington; two nephews, Steve and Jerry Yeatman; and a niece, Jenny Yeatman; and many great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Highway, New Castle where family and friends may call after 1 p.m. Interment will be in the adjoining memorial park.

Ethel I. Gervan,
former N.Y. resident
Ethel I. Gervan, 95, formerly of North Tonawanda, New York, and recently of Rehoboth Beach and Millsboro, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Green Valley Nursing Home, Millsboro.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Mary Gervan and granddaughters Elaine, Cheryl, Janine and Jane. She also had eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held.

Priscilla E. DiMatteo
retired WSFS supervisor
Priscilla E. DiMatteo, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2006, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. DiMatteo was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. Priscilla was a supervisor with WSFS for 22 years before retiring and was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan, in 1979.
Priscilla is survived by her children, Anthony L. DiMatteo and his wife, Cheryl, of Kennett Square, Pa., Gerald M. DiMatteo and his wife, Catherine, of Lewes, Kathleen E. Kehnast and her husband, Bill, of Townsend, Janet T. Killian and her husband, Dave, Diana F. Pantano and her husband, Joseph, Nancy A. Stabler and her husband, Nick, and Deborah K. DiMatteo, all of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Wilmington, with burial in All Saints cemetery.

Dorothy L. McNemar,

Dorothy Louise (Marion) McNemar, 87, of Gilpin Hall, Wilmington, passed away on Monday evening, May 29, 2006, at home.
Mrs. McNemar was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 20, 1919, daughter of the late Francis and Edith (Nesbitt) Marion.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother. As a young woman during World War II, she worked for the War Department in Washington, DC. There she met and married Charles P. McNemar. After her husband passed away in 1968, Mrs. McNemar worked in Wilmington public school cafeterias. She also worked at Kennard’s, Weinberg’s and Silverbrook Day Care. She was a member of Oak Hill Senior Center, where she enjoyed her friends, traveling and bingo. She was also a longtime active member of Silverbrook United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McNemar is survived by two daughters, Shirley A. Willerton and her husband, David, and Eloise M. Nickerson and her husband, Daniel, all of Wilmington; two sons, Thomas D. and his wife, Thelma, of Wilmington and John P. and his wife, Donna, of Lewes; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Haney of Concord, N.H. and Elinor Perez of Sperryville, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Edna West.
Services were held at Doherty Funeral Home, Wilmington, with burial in Silverbrook cemetery.

Harold S. Miller Jr.,
retired Army sergeant
Sgt. Harold S. Miller, 78, of Rehoboth Beach and formerly of New Castle, passed away on May 28, 2006.
Sgt. Miller retired from the Army in 1965 after 20 years of service, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retirement, he was a truck driver for SpaceCon Inc. in New Castle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Miller, in 2002.
Harold is survived by his children, Randall and his wife, Ann, of Scottsville, Va., Richard and his wife, Lea, of St. John, Virgin Islands, Rodney and his wife, Dawn, of High Springs, Fla., Renee Baclasky and her husband Stephen of Hesperia, Calif., and Roger and his wife Judy of New Castle; two brothers, Paul of Michigan City, Ind., and Robert of Yuma, Ariz.; three sisters, Nancy Holiday of Laport, Ind., Mary Kerstetter of Yuma, Ariz., and Martha McNichols of Barstow, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Beverly Alexander of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at McCrery Memorial Chapel, Wilmington, with burial in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery.
James Boyer,
retired electrician
James Douglas Boyer (“Jimmy” “Pop Pop”), 64, of Newark, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 29, 2006.
Born at home in Roselle on April 4, 1942, Jimmy was the son of the late Norman Henry and Frances Margaret (Scully) Boyer. He attended Brown Vocational High School.
Jimmy was an electrician all of his life and retired from East Coast Electric. An ardent Notre Dame sports fan, he greatly enjoyed football, baseball, crabbing, boating, Delaware Park, his vegetable garden, horseshoes, country music and playing cards. A devoted family man, he especially looked forward to watching his older grandchildren playing sports and spending time with his younger grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Carolyn Mae (Rickards) Boyer; two brothers, Charles Boyer of Wilmington and Thomas Boyer and his wife, Eileen, of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Helen Ievoli and her husband, Anthony, of Wilmington and Frances Naughton and husband, Patrick, of Monson, Mass.; three daughters, Renee Boyer and husband, Ron Guizzetti, of Elkton, Md., Theresa English of Elkton and Maryann Rocco and her husband, Joseph, of Milton; eight grandchildren, Randy and Angela Boyer, Jaime and Genevieve English, Joseph, Jonathan, Tyler and Abigail Rocco; and his loving dog, Sadie.
Services were held at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Newark, with burial in All Saints cemetery , 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.

Anna Nuss Black,

Anna Nuss (Schuler) Black, 91, of Milford died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Black was born in Norristown, Pa., daughter of the late John G.E. and Annie (Jackson) Schuler. She had been a resident of Delaware since 1917, moving here from Pennsylvania.
She worked at Daugherty’s Market, Houston, Medds Dairy Market, Milford, and for many years at Montgomery Ward, Milford, retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Black was a member of the Milford First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Black in 1964; three sisters; seven brothers; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Janet Black of Maybell, Colo., and Robert E. Black of Goldsboro, Md.; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and much loved nieces, nephews, faithful friends and neighbors.
Services were held at Milford First Baptist Church, 6062 Old Shawnee Road, Milford, with burial in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
