Terrence O. Hammond,

Terrence O. “Tracy” Hammond, 40, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.
Mr. Hammond was born Feb. 7, 1966, in Seaford.
He is survived by a loving daughter, Kellodra Hammond of Dover; a son, Terrence Hammond Jr. of Dover; a stepson, Ty-keme Robinson of Dover; his mother, Annie Hammond; his stepfather, Lawrence Young of Lincoln; a brother, Stephen Hammond of Keflaink, Iceland; four sisters, Angela Henry of Wilmington, Estelle Whitney of Petersburg, Va., Robin Hayes of Seaford, and Natalie Turner of Delmar; four foster brothers, Robert Bolden, Allan Bolden, Albert Flimin and Richard Ross, all of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Daryl Hayes; a sister-in-law, Diana Hammond; two devoted friends, Pearl Robinson and Barbara Griffin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services were held in Chase Church, Star Hill.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Young’s Funeral Home, Milford.
William A. Danver,
self-employed builder
William A. Danver, 76, of Lewes, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Danver was born in Allegheny County, Pa., son of the late Richard Danver Jr. and Sara Ann Alward Danver. He was formerly from the Silver Springs, Md., area, moving to Sussex County after his retirement 11 years ago. He was a self-employed builder of fine homes for 30 years. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Since his retirement, Mr. Danver avidly enjoyed crossword puzzles and bird watching. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Danver is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy J. Hawvermale Danver; four sons, Douglas A. Danver and wife Cathy of St. Louis, Mo.; Bruce A. Danver and wife Patricia of Alexandria, Va.; Keith E. Danver and wife Patricia of Milton; and Gregory E. Danver and wife Elizabeth of Point of Rocks, Md.; Karen Engle, who was like a daughter to Mr. Danver, and her husband Ron of Rockville, Md.; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Sara, Kelly, Bridget and Morgan Danver.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Danver was predeceased by a brother, Richard Wright Danver; and a sister, Barbara Ann Weimer. Services will be private.
Memorial donations are suggested to a favorite charity.

Robert James Hudson,
Naval parachutist
Robert James “Bob” Hudson Sr., 62, resident for 10 years of Lexington Park and Mechanicsville, Md., went home Friday, July 21, 2006, surrounded by loved ones.
Born Oct. 6, 1943 in Milford, he was the son of Edward and Hazel Hudson.
Master Chief Robert Hudson joined the U.S. Navy in 1960, and served on active duty for 29 years. He served with honor and distinction in many commands. Among them were Naval Station Midway Island, the flight demonstration team Blue Angels in Pensacola, Fla., as well as an instructor in jungle survival school in Subic Bay, Philippines. His greatest legacy came from his assignment to the National Parachute Test Range in El Centro, later relocated to the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake Calif., where as a Naval test parachutist; he accumulated more than 1,000 parachute jumps during his 13-year tour. Master Chief Hudson was the driving force behind testing and qualifying the NASA space shuttle escape system after the disaster to the Challenger space shuttle. For these efforts he was awarded the Air Metal.
Robert Hudson began working as a civil service employee for the Navy in the Fleet Support Team in 1996 and established the quality assurance team. His heart was always close to parachutes and escape systems and he found himself supporting the E-2C Hawkeye PSE program. He retired from federal service in October 2005 but continued to support the E-2C PSE program by working for K.R. Systems.
Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce; his daughter and son-in-law Patty and Tony Andreoli, and grandchildren Alyssa and Zachary of Lexington Park; daughter Robin Lynn Thomas of Lexington Park; and grandchildren Anthony stationed in Norfolk, Va., and Buddy and Lauren, of El Nido, Calif.; and his son Robert James Hudson Jr.; and grandchildren, Robert James III, Noel, and Nicholas, of Auborn, Wash. He is also survived by his mother, Hazel Hudson; sisters Rachel Pusey, Joann Mitchell, and Jenny Lee Caudill; and his brothers Vernon and Virgil Hudson all of Sussex County.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s everlasting life will be held Monday, July 31, at Leonardtown Baptist Church, with a reception to follow immediately after.

Catherine E. Paull,
infant
Catherine Elizabeth Paull, 9 months old, of Dover, died peacefully Tuesday, July 25, 2006, in Alfred I. duPont Hospital, Wilmington, surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine was born Oct. 27, 2005, daughter of Mary Ellen Tharp Paull and Philip Paull.
Although their precious little angel was with them for a short time, she touched the lives of many. Her beautiful smiles and darling little giggles will live in the hearts of her family forever. She will always be their special little gift from heaven.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Michael Tharp.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandfather, Ricky Tharp of Harrington; her maternal grandmothers, Darlene Blanchfield of Dover and Sara Emerson of Woodside; her paternal grandfather, Michael King of Lewes; her paternal grandmother, Donna Startt of Virginia; three sisters, Emily, Madeline and Chloe; a brother, Michael Paull; four uncles, Matthew Blanchfield, Christopher Collins, Jeff Rhoades and Michael King; three aunts, Laura Price, Jessica Paull and Tabitha Lowery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 28, in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29, in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery , Port Penn.
William S. Cropper IV,
apprentice electrician
William S. Cropper IV, 24, of Roxana, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md.
William was the son of the late William S. Cropper III who died in 2003. He was an apprentice electrician with Royal Plus Electric in West Ocean City, Md. William was a 2000 graduate of Sussex Tech. He loved spending time with his niece, Jenna. Mr. Cropper liked hanging out with his close cousins Michael and Matthew Evans and close friend Kenny Bertrand.
In addition to hanging out with his friends he loved car shows, working on his car and liked car stereos. William was an advocate of organ donation.
William is survived by his mother, Teresa D. Evans Cropper; his sister, Cherise Cropper, paternal grandmother, Yvonne Lewis Cropper; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Gladys Evans; a niece Jenna Cropper; aunts and uncles, Roy Evans and his wife Barb, Randy Evans and his wife Terry, Tammy and her husband George Mitchell, Rita Deakyne and Karen Daly; and numerous cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday July 29, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher St., Frankford. Burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions in William’s name to the American Heart Association - Sussex Chapter, 600 N. DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.
Neil G, Xenos,
flotilla commander
Neil G. Xenos, 71, of Lewes, passed away Tuesday, July 25, at Beebe Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born November 10, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late George and Eva (Brosius) Xenos.
Mr. Xenos moved to Sussex County 20 years ago from Delaware County, Pa. He was an active flotilla commander with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary in Lewes. He was also a veteran of the Korean War serving as a radarman. He enjoyed fishing and was very creative on his computer. He especially loved caring for his many grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Paula Easley Xenos; four daughters, Cheryl Stinson and her husband William of Lewes, Amy Xenos of Millsboro, Shannon Xenos and Tabitha Couchman, both of Lewes; six granddaughters, Jessica, Ashley, Emily, Angela, Alyson and Stephanie; and one grandson, Gabriel.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 31, 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Randy Booth will be officiating. Interment will be private.

Zelda K. Brittingham,
domestic technician
Zelda Katherine Young Brittingham, 83, of Milton died Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Beebe Memorial Hospital, Lewes.
Mrs. Brittingham was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Lincoln, daughter of the late James H. and Mattie Watson Young.
She attended Lincoln School and Benjamin Banneker in Milford.
She was employed as a domestic technician for many years before retiring in 1993.
Mrs. Brittingham was a former member of the Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia, Mount Sinai Tabernacle, Mount Zion Holy Church in Milton, where she served as the Sunday school teacher, and Mount Pisgah Holy Church in Easton, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Elder Granville Brittingham; a brother and a sister-in-law, Oscar and Naomi Young; five sisters-in-law, Evang Viola Bratten of Millsboro, Esther Knapp, Bishop Grace R. Batten and Dora Brittingham, all of Milton, and Elder Ida Brittingham of Richmond, Va.; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Joshua and Irene Brittingham, and James Brittingham, all of Milton; caregiver nephew, Elmer Bratten (Peggy) of Dover; a godson, Chester Cornish of Baltimore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 7 p.m., Friday, July 28, in Mount Zion Holy Church, 325 Front St., Milton, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
LeRoy R.C. Leiser,
Angola summer resident
LeRoy R. C. “Lee” Leiser, 71, of Claymont, passed away peacefully Monday, July 24, 2006, of a sudden heart attack.
Mr. Leiser was the son of the late Carrie and Roy Leiser of Emmaus, Pa.
A graduate of Emmaus High School, he played basketball and was a member of the track and gymnastic teams. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet and participated in the drama club and the marching band. He furthered his education with a bachelor’s degree from West Chester State Teachers’ College, class of 1958, where he was the cross-country team captain and a member of the track and gymnastic teams. He also earned a master’s in education from West Chester University.
Mr. Leiser served as the community director of the Salvation Army in Wilmington from 1959-1961.
A lifelong educator, he taught physical education at Paoli Pike Elementary School and Fern Hill Elementary School in West Chester, Pa.
He was very proud of his students and their accomplishments both in school and in life. He innovated in-school and afterschool curricula, including gym shows, bowling leagues and golf course. He proudly invested the time and energy to create school record boards memorializing the achievements of his students. Lee loved his work. He always told everyone that he had a child for seven years of his or her life. By the time he retired, he educated the grandchildren of his original students.
Summers were spent as the swimming pool manager at several local communities in West Chester, Kennett Square and Wilmington, including Windybush Swim Club for 15 years.
He retired in 1993. He spent summers in Angola Beach in Lewes for the past 22 years. During his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking crafts, gardening, the Philadelphia Eagles and golfing. Keeping in touch with his teaching buddies was very important to Lee. He was helpful, kind, giving, jolly, sincere and fun loving. Lee was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold; and a sister, Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lois A. Leiser; three sons, William C. Leiser and his wife Noel of Gainesville, Ga., J. Craig Leiser and his wife Eleanor of Unionville, Pa. and Jeffrey S. Leiser and his wife Dolores of West Chester; and six grandchildren, Jackie Close, Olivia Leiser, Nunnally Rawson, Savy Leiser, Ross Leiser and Louisa Leiser.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, July 28, at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, where friends may visit with family from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be private Saturday, July 29 at Greenwood cemetery
in Allentown, Pa.

Billie T. Lackford,
retired detective
Billie Trumbull Lackford, 77, of Millsboro, died Monday, July 24, 2006, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, Md.
Mrs. Lackford was a homemaker and a retired detective.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton John Trumbull and her second husband, John E. Lackford; her daughter Cheryl; and her sister, Betty.
She is survived by two sons, William Trumbull and his wife Valerie and Stephen Trumbull; a daughter, Aimee Lackford Fitz; five grandchildren, Kim, Jeremy, Jodi, Brian and his wife Korey Lackford and Erica Fitz; and one great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Gerald C. Simmons,
retired police officer
Gerald C. Simmons, 70, of Lewes and formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was the son of the late John T. and Mary (Libengood) Simmons.
He was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., before his retirement and he served in the Marine Corps during Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Mason-Dixon 7234 of Ocean View and the Elks Lodge 2540 of Lewes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Ackroyd) Simmons.
He is survived by four sons, John Simmons, John Barbar, Patrick Simmons and Brian Simmons; three daughters, Debbie Messick, Maureen Justice and Kathleen Flynn; a sister, Mary Louise Simmons; and 13 grandchildren, David, Christopher, Kristin, John Thomas, Jenna, Allen, Kevin, Sean, Sherrie, Randy, Brielle, Carlee and Carles.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 28 at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton.
