Ann Julia Fuqua,
retired from DuPont
Ann Julia Fuqua, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2006, following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Ann graduated from St. Paul’s Commercial. During her long career, Ann worked as a personal secretary for the Perkins family, as they developed Edgemoor Terrace and Gardens, and in the pigments and legal departments of the DuPont Company. After retirement from DuPont, Ann worked for the law firm of Healy and Collins. Throughout her life, Ann was blessed with many dear friends, the loyal support of her brothers and sisters, and her youthful spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine B. and Robert Lee Fuqua; her brother, Robert Fuqua, James Fuqua and John Fuqua, OSFS; and her sisters, Mary Herrell, who lived in Fallbrook, Calif., and Regina Butler.
She is survived by her nephews, James Fuqua Jr., and his wife, Lynn, of Rehoboth Beach, John Butler, and his wife, Nancy, of Chadds Ford, Pa., and Robert Fuqua, and his wife, Lois, of Newark; and by her nieces, Joan McMahon, and her husband, John, of Hockessin, Ann Griffith, and her husband, Doug, of Wilmington, Patricia Green, and her husband, George, of Nottingham, Pa., and Sara Butler, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 16 great nieces and nephews; and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville for the compassionate care that they extended to Auntie Ann during her brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th & Dupont Sts., Wilmington, with interment in Cathedral cemetery.

Martha L.T. Plummer,
Milton homemaker
Martha Lillian Turner Plummer, 79, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, July 18,, 2006, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling and crocheting. Mrs. Plummer was a member of Broadkill VFW Post 6984 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 17 in Lewes and was a founding member of the Slaughter Beach Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Plummer Sr., in 1986; and a daughter, Nancy Plummer.
She is survived by three children, Jane E. Calahan and husband Paul R.. Sr. of Aberdeen, Md., Diane Terhune and husband Ken Sr. of Milton and Tom Plummer and wife Mary A. of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Paul R. Calahan Jr., Tammy J. Foster, Philip Terhune, Kenny Terhune Jr., Nancy Terhune, James Terhune and Marla Plummer; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Ridley of Salem, N.J.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 22, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after noon,. Burial will be in Milford Community cemetery.
Edward McGue,
retired floral designer
Edward McGue, 70, formerly of Laurel, Md., died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
Mr. McGue was a floral designer for the Baltimore, Washington area.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Charlie Webb of Millsboro; his niece, and nephew-in-law, Jennifer and Craig Jeffries; grand-nieces, Abigail, and Gabrielle Jeffries all of Laurel; his aunt Virginia Long; and cousins.
There will be a memorial graveside service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Ivy Hill cemetery , Laurel, with Chaplin Warren Litchfield.
Reginald Ellingsworth,
retired poultry inspector
Reginald Ellingsworth, 86, of Seaford, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
Mr. Ellingsworth was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
He attended Holly Mount Country School, Lewes, and graduated from Georgetown High School.
He was a retired federal poultry inspector and was a farmer who grew soybeans, corn and chickens. In his earlier years, he had a turkey hatchery business and worked for the DuPont Co., Seaford.
Mr. Ellingsworth was a member of Widowed Service Persons and St. John’s United Methodist Church and a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Seaford. He also was a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Woodrow and Pauline Messick Ellingsworth; a sister, Sally Scott; a brother, Woody Ellingsworth; and his wife, Fannie Pepper Ellingsworth, in 1989.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Ethel Ellingsworth and Norval L. Ellingsworth, all of Seaford; a sister and a brother-in-law, May and Wallace Kopple of Harbeson; a granddaughter and a grandson-in-law, Bonnie and Tony Varrato of Georgetown; a grandson, Glen Ellingsworth of Newark; and two great-grandsons, Dylan Varrato and Zack Varrato.
Services were held in the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery , Seaford.

Anna Rita Link,

Anna Rita (Bell) Link, 85, of Lewes, died Friday, July 14, 2006, from congestive heart failure at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mrs. Link was born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Raymond Daniel Bell and Helen Veronica (McLaughlin) Bell. She was the wife of William Everett Link, for 66 years, who survives her.
Mrs. Link was born in Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, and was a member in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia; Annunciation Parish in Havertown, Pa. and Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Bally, Pa. For 18 years she attended Saint Edmunds Parish in Rehoboth Beach and St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Lewes. During that time she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister to the sick at Harbor Health Care, the Women’s Sodality, and the Renew Program. She was also a member of the Bible Study Fellowship. Anna had resided in Philadelphia, Pa.; Havertown, Delaware County, Pa.; Bechtelsville, Berks County, Pa.; and retired to Lewes 18 years ago.
Mrs. Link attended Saint Anthony of Padua Parish School; Audenreid High School in Philadelphia, and Reading Area Community College in Reading, Pa. She worked for AT&T, Bell Telephone, and Saks Fifth Avenue. She was active in Cub Scouts, the West Philadelphia Catholic Boys Parents Association; Archbishop Prendergast Parents Association’s Fashion Show, and worked on the Annual Fair for the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Bally. She was a dedicated participant in the Read Aloud Delaware Program for many years and helped with Meals on Wheels. Anna was an avid watercolorist.
She was the mother of 14 children, William Christopher Link of Philadelphia, Patricia Canby of Lewes; Dennis Christopher Link of Lansdale, Pa.; Judith Salvatore of Milton, Joseph John Link, of Town Bank, N.J.; Gerard Link, of Lititz, Pa.; Maryellen Fullmer of Lewes, Loretta Link-Esterly, of Boyertown, Pa. and Lewes, Raymond Link of Middletown, Veronica Link and Felicia Cannon, both of Milton;. She was predeceased by three children: Baby Joseph Link, Baby David Link, and Brian Patrick Link; a sister, Rita Bell and a brother Charles Bell.
Also surviving are a brother Daniel Bell; 26 grand children: Christopher Link, Dennis Link Jr, Maureen Gray, Erik Link, Gina Marie Link, Alicia Salvatore, Laurea Salvatore, Emily Link, Patrick Link, Brian Link, Sean Fullmer, Megan Fullmer, Christopher Fullmer, Hannah Link Fitzgerald, Liam Esterly, Seth Esterly, Kyle Link, David Link, Ethan Link, Evan Link, Alyssa Link, Ryan Cannon, Kellen Cannon, Tara Cannon, Erin Cannon and Justin Cannon.
There are also five great-grandchildren: Jessica Link, Meredith Gray, Andrew Gray, Annemarie Gray and Aidan Gray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, Tuesday, July 18, at Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Route 1 at Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, at Saints Peter & Paul cemetery , Springfield, Pa.

S. Margery Jarmon,

S. Margery Jarmon, 90, of Millsboro, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at home.
Ms. Jarmon was born in 1915, the daughter of the late William and India Rowland Jarmon. She was a native of Wilmington, but spent the last 30 years in the Oak Orchard area of Millsboro.
Ms. Jarmon was a lifetime member of the Brandywiners. She served as the executive director of the Delaware Board of Nursing; she was a graduate of the University of Delaware, The Delaware School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Jarmon served as the director of Nursing and director of Nursing Education in Delaware, North Dakota, Nebraska, and North Carolina. During her time in Wilmington, she was active in music circles. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Millsboro and The American Nurses Association.
She is survived by her special friends Walter and Doris Hamilton of Georgetown.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Millsboro, with the Rev. David Archibald officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 20, at West Nottingham cemetery , Rising Sun, Md.

Larry K. Pruett,

Larry K. Pruett, 43, of Millsboro, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Pruett was the son of Jack and Birdie Sue Carpenter Pruett.
Larry was a splicing technician for Verizon for the past nine years. He has been a field contractor since 1988. Larry was a member of the Coweeta Baptist Church in Otto, N. C. He was a hard worker, and a “home body.” He loved golfing and fishing and he hit a hole in one at the age of 13. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who adored his grandson. Everyone who knew him, knew he was one great guy.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda C. Pruett; two daughters, Christy Pruett Reeves and her husband Paul of Millsboro and Missy Pruett of Franklin, N.C., two brothers, Rick Pruett and his wife Debbie and Gary Pruett of Franklin; a sister, Cathy Jones of Franklin; a grandson: Brock Reeves of Millsboro; he is also survived by a host of wonderful coworkers at Verizon.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, with another viewing from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, July 20 at Macon Funeral Home, Franklin, followed by services at the Windy Gap Baptist Church, Franklin, N.C. Interment will be at Windy Gap cemetery , Franklin.

Mildred J. Eberlein, 84, of Long Neck, Millsboro, and formerly of Balls Eddy/Hancock, N.Y., passed away Monday, July 10, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent Eberlein; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Jay Way of Millsboro, Dawn and Sonny Light of Binghamton, N.Y., Dale and George Legg of Brackney, Pa., Christopher and Mandy Wood of Brackney, Terry and Carmene Caminiti of Binghamton, Donald and Amy Light of Binghamton and Michelle Light of Cranston, R.I.; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Henderson Biede-Kapp Funeral Home, Hancock, NY, with burial in Balls Eddy PA cemetery.

Richard P. Hires Sr.,

Richard P. “Dick” Hires Sr., 81, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Hires was born in Salem, N.J. to the late George and Florence Plummer Hires. Dick was a traveling representative for the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper before his retirement. He was past commander and life member of the New Jersey American Legion and a lifetime member of the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 where he served and performed as the official bugler of the Honor Guard and a member of the American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.
Mr. Hires is survived by his son, Richard P. Hires Jr. and his wife Betsy; a daughter, Deborah Lindsay and her husband Perry; and two grandchildren, Chris Lindsay and Sean Lindsay.
A graveside service was held at St. George’s Methodist cemetery , Clarkesville.

Frederick R. Cleaver Jr.,

Frederick R. Cleaver Jr., 60, of Lewes, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Bayhealth Center, Milford.
Mr. Cleaver was born in San Bernardino, Calif. on Oct 12, 1945, son of Eleanor Donovan Cleaver and the late Frederick R. Cleaver Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1966 aboard the USS Sandoval.
“Rick” was self-employed as an estate planner. He was a former member of the Odessa Volunteer Fire Company and the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary. He was an unofficial member of the Lewes Lions Club. Rick was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes.
He was an avid golfer. Rick was an organ donor and gave the gift of life.
In addition to his father, Rick was predeceased by his son-in-law Cpl. Christopher M. Shea, Jr. in 2004 and grandson Preston C. Jones in 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paulette (Collins) Cleaver; three daughters, Kelly S. Jones and her husband Edward; Shannon C. Fowler and her husband Robert; and Susan Shea; a son, Frederick R. Cleaver III and his wife Cynthia; two brothers, I.G. Cleaver and his wife Suzanne of Wilmington and J. Christopher Cleaver and his wife Lorraine of Odessa; four grandchildren: Christopher M. Shea, Jr. and Elizabeth L. Shea; Caroline M. Fowler, and Alexandra L. Cleaver; a foster grandchild, Ty; and three nephews.
Funeral services were held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes, with interment in Bethel Methodist cemetery , Savannah Road, Lewes.

Jacob C. “Jack” Smith, 83, of Millsboro, died Monday, July 10, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Smith was born in Manhattan, N.Y., son of the late John and Bertha (Klein) Smith.
He served in the U.S. Navy Mobile Construction Battalions - the “Seabees” - during World War II. Mr. Smith was a carpenter before his retirement.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn M. O’Brien and Jana L. Smith; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery
South, Patriots Way, Millsboro, with burial in the Veterans cemetery.

Mauricelene D. “Penny” Mondell, 65, of Millsboro, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center Lewes.
She was the daughter of the late Maurice A and Dorothy M. Christman Himes
Penny had been a cosmetician manager for Happy Harry’s in Georgetown. She also was a certified Diamondologist. Penny was a member of the American Legion Post 28 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Bird Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She also was a member of AMARANT. She was the Pennsylvania state free style and speed skating champion at age 12. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Pottstown, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer “Butch” Mondell: sons Peter M. Nimmerichter and wife Rosana of Stowe, Pa. Anthony “Tony” Nimmerichter and wife Karen of Mt. Penn, Pa. Morris “Chip” Nimmerichter and wife Christa, of Temple, Pa. a daughter, Shawnie R. Noel and husband, Kevin of Boyertown, Pa; one sister, Pamela J. Hines Kemp, of Pottstown, Pa. 12 grandchildren, Mandi, Josh, Heather Marie, Toni Ann, Coyote, Stephany, Thomas, Eric, Heather Rae, Cassey, Christopher; and seven great-grandchildren, Lillyan, Nikki, Tim, Erica, Ken, Dale, Bianca.
Services will be held with the Rev. Floyd Morton, and Rev Richard Mondell officiating Thursday, July 20, at 1 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home 211 Washington St. Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Millsboro, Delaware
