Robert M. Stanley,
Army veteran
Staff Sgt. Robert Marshall “Rob” Stanley, 27, a native of Spotsylvania County, Pa., was killed in combat Monday, March 5, 2007, while serving with the U.S. Army in Samarra, Iraq. Our American hero was currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq and had previously served in Afghanistan, Egypt and in New Orleans for post-Katrina relief efforts.
A native of Spotsylvania, he attended Fredericksburg Christian School and Spotsylvania High School.
Rob was an avid gun collector and shooter. His culinary talents earned him the title “The Grill Master.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Jayme Hazard Stanley of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Lewes; his very proud parents, Robert L. and Thelma T. Stanley, both of Spotsylvania; his caring and loving sister, Sharon Annette McBride and her husband Anthony and his “favorite” nephew Tony McBride, all of Spotsylvania; several aunts, uncles and cousins and his faithful canine companion, Toby.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 16, at Spotswood Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Young, Jesse Matthews, Brandon Matthews, Kevin Ahart, Jason Mitchell, Steve Matczak, Jason Robbins and Mark Main.

James Roger O’Connor,
retired policeman
James Roger O’Connor, 69, of Lewes, formerly of Newark, died at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. O’Connor was born and raised in the Bellefonte community where he fostered friendships that would last a lifetime. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a bricklayer by trade, but his heart and love was in law enforcement, a passion he passed on to his children and other family members. He served the Elsmere Police Department from 1963-1966. He served the Wilmington Police Department from 1971-1991, where he retired as a sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sophie O’Connor; and his sisters, Peggy Gland and Mary Kaczmarczk. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Haney O’Connor; his sons, Dennis O’Connor and his wife Linda, and Terry O’Connor and his wife Susan; his grandchildren, Dennis, Jessica, Jonathan, Christopher, Casey and Kiley; his nephew, Hank Kaczmarczyk and his wife Sandy; his nieces, Jennifer Grunza, Heather Kaczmarczyk, and Holly Simpson; and his three cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, where friends may call 10 am-1 pm. Interment will be in Cathedral cemetery.

Charles Clark Jr.,

Charles “Bob” Clark Jr., 70, of Milford, passed away Monday, March 12, 2007 with his loving family by his side, at home on the family horse farm, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born July 26, 1936 in Upland, Pa., to the late Charles R. Clark Sr. and Mary Emma Clark. Graduating from Eddystone High School, he excelled in sports and was class president. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he received a bachelor of science in education from West Chester University, where he was a guard on the football team, and he later played semi-professional football in Marcus Hook, Pa.
Bob served as director of physical education for the YMCA of West Chester, followed by a few years as a foreman at General Motors, during which he managed to spend time breaking and training young horses for Abe Stolzfus. As a child he spent many years in the harness horse industry with his father and uncle, William Clark, and the family tradition soon became his full-time career. Training and driving for himself and others, he trained as many as 10 horses in a season. Bob’s first winning horse was May’s Darling in 1967 at Harrington Raceway. In 1970, he attended the U.S. Trotting Association (USTA) School of Judges and became a patrol judge at Harrington Raceway and later an associate judge at Dover Downs. Progressing rapidly, he was appointed as presiding judge of Harrington, Dover and Brandywine racetracks, remaining until 1989. At that time, the next generation of Clarks, his son Bobby, began training and racing a stable of horses. To avoid any conflict of interest with the harness industry, Bob began another career with Intervet in Millsboro. Shortly after retiring, he put to use his harness experience again when he was appointed presiding judge for the inaugural season at Plain Ridge Racetrack in Massachusetts. Bob then returned to his family farm in Milford where he trained horses until a few months prior to his death.
Bob was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, USTA, Delaware Standardbred Owners Association and the American Legion Post of Milford. A supporter of athletics at Milford High School, he helped found the Milford Wrestling Boosters Club, enjoyed playing racquetball and participated in the Senior Olympics. He also liked yard sales, cruises, sporting events and dancing.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne Frances Lebano Clark; three sons, Bobby Clark and his wife Tina of Milford, Billy Clark and his wife Kathy of Charlotte, N.C., and Brian Clark and his wife Lee of Middletown; two sisters, Betty Ferguson and her husband Donnie of Boothwyn, Pa., and Ann Spillane and her husband George of Lewes; grandchildren, Benjamin and Oliva, Joey and Macy Lee Clark, Brit Evans and his wife Shea and son Bradley; and Parker Bankson; nieces, Michelle and Wendy; nephew, Scott and niece, Linda; a maternal aunt, Grace Marker and uncle, Howard Nichols.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford. A celebration of life will be at noon with visitation at 11 a.m., Saturday March 17, at the church. Interment will be at Barratt’s Chapel cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 201A West DuPont Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966 and his memorial fund at Avenue United Methodist Church. Flowers are welcome.

Donald J. Kinsley, 73,of Long Neck, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Monday, March 12, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Joseph Francis Kinsley and Marjorie Reimer Kinsley.
He was an installation manager for Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 34 years of service.
Don served with the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War.
He was a member of American Legion Post 28 of Oak Orchard-Riverdale and the Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Theresa A. Kinsley; a son, Douglas Kinsley of New Hope, Pa.; two daughters, Donna Lynn Staskel and her husband Hank, and Darlene Allison, all of Philadelphia; a sister, Barbara Lorry and her husband Bart of Lewes; six grandchildren, Billy Allison, Amanda Allison, Jennifer Staskel, Jaclyn Staskel, Julianne Staskel, and Janelle Staskel.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road, Millsboro.

Margaret H. Savage, 79, of Bishopville, Md., died Monday, March 12, at home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Dean. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Clarence Savage; a son, Woodrow Higgins of Bishopville; daughters, Uaseline S. Hallett and her husband John Henry of Bishopville, Joyce Ann Goodman of Millsboro, Zakiyya Salahudin of Selbyville, Fredia Eley and her husband Lenwood of Milton, and Felicia Johnson and her husband Ronald of Bishopville; an adopted daughter, Linda Thomas of Georgetown; a brother, Leonard Higgins and his wife Deborah Moore of Sicklerville, N.J.; two sisters, Oneda Purnell and her husband Leon of Seaford and Mildred Handy of Ocean City, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Bishopville, where she was secretary, usher, and a member of the church board. She had excellent penmanship. She was a super mother and grandmother and had a happy spirit. She was a lady of many names: Flip, Grand-nanna, Mother, Mommy, Muddy, Woman, Bobba, Nicea, Granny. She ended her phone calls with “nite-nite.” She loved to knit, crochet and collect dolls and videos.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 17, at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Bishopville, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Louise Williams will officiate. Interment will be in Curtis cemetery , Bishopville. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro.
Michael P. Hawkins Jr.,

Michael Paul Hawkins Jr., newborn son of Michael Paul Hawkins Sr. and Alexis Farrah Fasold Hawkins of Millsboro, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents Peg and Lewis Hawkins of Georgetown, Jayne and George Robinson of Newark, and April and Thomas Fasold of Millsboro; great-grandparents Nanny Butler of Georgetown, Mary Shaw of Millsboro, and Leroy and Mary Ann Fasold of Laurel; a great-great-grandmother, Evelyn Dunbar of Millsboro; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
In loving memory of one who was deeply loved. We will always love you and never forget you.

Henry J. “Harry” McCauley, 64, of Pot-Nets, formerly of Stanton, passed away on March 11, 2007, surrounded by his loved ones at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mr. McCauley was known and respected for his abilities in the auto body industry. His greatest joy was being with his family.
Harry will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Naomi; daughters, Renee Law and her husband, Pat, of Townsend, and Dee Greenwood and her husband, Grant Sr., of Smyrna; sons, Michael and his wife, Amy, of Elkton, Md., and Henry and his wife, Jo Ellen, of Warwick, Md.; brother, Francis P. McCauley and wife, Marlene; 10 wonderful grandchildren and 3 beautiful great-grandchildren.

William F. Wilson,

William “Bill” F. Wilson, age 84, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at his home. Bill was born February 11, 1923 in Delphi, Ind., son of the late Jay Wilson and Lillian M. Bever Wilson Wray.
Bill was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a tank commander in the 12th Armored Division, retiring after 20 years of service. He retired a second time in 1980 as a rural letter carrier from the Rehoboth Beach Post Office. He also worked part-time at the University of Delaware Virden Center. He was an elder of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway, a member of the American Legion Post 5, NARFE, AARP, Rural Letter Carrier’s Association and past president of the Rural Letter Carrier’s Association.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bill will be remembered most for his love of family and genuine sense of humor. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Vivian L. Howard Wilson, to whom he was married for 50 years; a son, Gary L. Wilson and his wife Julie; three daughters, Michelle L. Jennings, Celene A. Johnson and her husband Tony, and Renee D. Bailey and her husband C.J.; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Woltz, Megan Wooldridge, Chrysta Thomas, Brittany Wilson, Brendan Wilson, Leah Wilson, Ayren Johnson and William Jennings; and two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Woltz and Averie Jennings. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Lou Patty of Logansport, Ind.
A viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, followed by a memorial service with military honors at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

David F. O’Donnell, of Rehoboth Beach, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, following a short illness.
David was born in Newark, N.J. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Marie Wied O’Donnell; sisters, Kathryn and Rose; and brothers, Philip and Fred. He is survived by his longtime partner and friend, Patrick Donnelly; nieces Karen Ward, Peggy Kranzyshen, Carol Barton, and Claudette Courtney; nephews, David Price and Claude Martineau; sister-in-law Gloria Morlock and children, Helen, John, Paul, Robert, Ricky and Donald; and other family and friends. Ray S. Wampler,

Ray S. Wampler, 90, of Lewes, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at his residence. It is time to say goodbye. Ray is with the Lord. Born in Timberville, Va., he resided in North Wales, Pa., with his wife Jeane before moving to Lewes. Ray served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Wampler is survived by his wife Jeane; three daughters, Joanne Rittenhouse, Cindy Toner and Diane Wampler; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Stephen, Timothy and Andrew Quay.

Vincent G. Colicchio,
Special Olympian
Vincent G. Colicchio, 49, of Georgetown, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 11, 2007. Born in Wilmington, he was a resident of the Stockley Center in Georgetown from early childhood. Vincent enjoyed singing, playing the drums, dancing and especially spending time with his dad. He was a participant of the Special Olympics for many years, winning several medals.
Vincent will be sadly missed by his father, Rocco L. Colicchio of Lewes; his mother, Ramona Harrington of Jacksonville, Fla.; his brothers, Gregory Colicchio and his wife Claudine of Wilmington, Dr. Mark Colicchio and his wife Karen of Spanish Fort, Ala.; his sisters, Teresa Canady and her husband David of Elkton, Md., Mary Ann McGonigal and her husband Charles of Wilmington, Karen Protz and her husband Kelly of Silt, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held. The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff and administration of the Stockley Center for all the years of excellent care, love and kindness to Vincent.
Lloyd Fred Moore,

Lloyd Fred Moore, 75, of Lewes, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Moore was born April 20, 1931 in Fords Mill, near Hyndman, Pa., son of the late Paul Buchannon and Pearl Johnson Moore.
Mr. Moore and his wife moved to Delaware from Pennsylvania in 1951. He was employed for 32 years by Townsend’s Poultry, retiring from the position of poultry egg production. He also worked for over 15 years with Shaffer’s Service as a light mechanic.
Mr. Moore always enjoyed his return trips to Pennsylvania to visit with family and friends and spending time at McDonald’s with friends. He made daily visits to his nephew’s garage in Lewes and looked forward to long daily walks, rain or shine. Lloyd was deeply loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Kennell Moore; his brothers, Earl Moore and his wife Sally of State Line, Pa., Elmer Moore and his wife Jean of Seaford, and Orville Moore and his wife Virginia of Cumberland, Md.; his sisters, Lottie Burley of Baltimore, Md., and Helen Emerick and her husband Curtis of Lewes; his in-laws, Robert and Sylvia Kennell of Cumberland, Md., Roy and Linda Kennell, Earl and Ruth Emerick, Ronnie and Pauline Leister, and Glenn and Evelyn Corley, all of Hyndman, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Stella Shaffer, Evelyn Robertson and Paul Moore Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with Rev. William Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 13.

Ronald Banks of Lewes and formerly of Atlanta, Ga., died unexpectedly but peacefully Friday, Feb. 16, 2007.
A celebration of life memorial in his honor will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 18, at Ocean Boulevard Furnishings, 1595 Route 1, Lewes (across from Bob Evans Restaurant). All who knew this kind, gentle man, who lived and worked in the Lewes-Rehoboth community, are welcome to attend.

Mary S. Innes died March 7, 2007, in Laura Wood Nursing Home in Elkton, Md.
Born in Chester, Pa., she had lived in New Castle for 20 years, and had formerly lived in Rehoboth Beach. She was a member of New Castle Presbyterian Church. She was a former secretary at the PMC, now Widener University, for 20 years.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Gartside, New Castle; son, James M. Innes III, McEithattan, Pa.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at James M. Brower Funeral Home, Wallingford, Pa. Interment was held in Chester Rural cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 509 Airport Rd., Milford, DE, 19963.
