Mary Garrison,

Mary Garrison, 82, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, daughter of the late Thomas and Fanny Mary (Gosney) Rosier.
She was a member of People’s United Church of Christ, Dover, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Mary was married in 1943 and moved to Dover from Ohio later that year.
She became the bookkeeper for the Garrison family farm business, and she and her husband started the Garrison Old English Donut Shop on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.
She enjoyed birds and dogs.
Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gamaliel E. Garrison of Dover; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas R. and Elaine Garrison of Dover, George R. Garrison of Delmar, Charles G. and Efser Garrison of Dover and Mark Garrison of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter, Florence M. Garrison of Dover; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Remembrance services were held in Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Burial will be in the Bethel cemetery , Cheswold.

David Rodriguez-Costa,

David José Rodriguez-Costa, 36, of Georgetown, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
Mr. Rodriguez-Costa was born in Washington, D.C, son of Sigrid Rodriguez-Costa and the late Hector José Rodriguez-Costa.
He graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1989 where he was a member of the lacrosse team.
David was passionate about his family, friends, fishing and the out of doors.
David will not be forgotten and will be missed by all.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife Heather (Jones) Rodriguez-Costa of Georgetown,; two children, Diego and Joaquin Rodriguez-Costa of Georgetown; a sister, Constance Rodriguez-Costa of Lewes; a niece Dominique Rodriguez-Costa of Lewes; his mother-in-law and father -in-law, Ethel and James Jones of Millsboro; and his brother-in-Law, Kyle Jones of Lewes, to whom David was like a big brother and they all loved dearly.

Robert Carl Frederick

Robert Carl Frederick, 69, of St. Petersburg, Fla. and formerly of Rehoboth Beach and Washington, D.C., died April 28, 2007.
Mr. Frederick was retired from the United States government, GSA.
He was born Jan. 7. 1938 in Washington. D.C. and lived in Rehoboth Beach for 15 years before moving to St. Petersburg, Fla. in 1997.
He loved orchids, travel, cars and life.
He is survived by his children, Charles Richter, Karl Richter, Ashley Richter, Arin Richter, Amanda Richter, James Lockerman and Paul Schultz; a sister, Paula Martin (Ryder); nieces Anita Podgurski and Patricia Dronenburg; and nephews Michael and George Reingruber.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Margaret ‘Peg’ Harney,

Margaret “Peg” Harney, 76, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes where she was a resident for the past 12 years. Mrs. Harney passed with her husband by her side; he went to care for her three times each day.
She was born Sept. 20, 1930. She retired from the banking industry in 1994 as a training teller.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Pat Harney; sister-in-law, Eileen Leonard of Falls Church, Va.; three sisters-in-law in Ireland; and one sister-in-law in England. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Fr. Peter Harney.
Patrick would like to thank everyone at Harbor Healthcare for their devotion and wonderful care.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, at All Saints’ cemetery , 6001 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington.

Nancy J. Christman Logan, 77, of Lewes, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Bayhealth Center in Milford.
Mrs. Logan was born in Barren Hill, Pa., daughter of the late Charles W. and Elsie McCurdy Christman.
She had formerly been employed as the office manager for Best Locking Systems of Philadelphia. She had relocated to the Angola area from King of Prussia, Pa. in 1991.
In Delaware she had worked as a receptionist at H & R Block Co., Midway for 16 years. She was a member of Conley’s Chapel Methodist Church where she had been active with the Bible school program.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Logan was predeceased by her husband, George W. Logan III, in 1998; and a son, David R. Haller, in June 2005.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pam McCutchen and husband Ralph of Rehoboth Beach; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard Christman and wife Sandy of Yarmouth, Maine.; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Nathan of Rehoboth Beach; and two step-granddaughters, Autumn and Channon McCutcheon.
Memorial services will be held at Conley’s United Methodist Church, Angola, at 11 a.m., Friday, May 18.
Pastor Randy Booth will be officiating. Interment will be private.

Cordonsal C. Walters,

Cordonsal Corintheon Walters, 94, of Millsboro, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Veterans Hospital in Wilmington. He was born Jan. 26, 1913, to George D. Walters and Angie Showell Waters in Clarksville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Christine Walters Duffy; two sons-in-law, Harrison Short and William Beckett; and one grandson, Myron Short.
Cordonsal was a longtime member of Dickerson’s Chapel AME Church in Millsboro but is remembered by many for his singing and dancing at local summer camp meetings.
Cordonsal, or “Old Folks” as he was called, received his early education in Lewes and later at Delaware State College High School in Dover. While at Delaware State, he became interested in sports and played on the football, track and baseball teams. He received letters in all three sports in 1932, but baseball remained his favorite. Over the years, he played with many teams, including the Washington Pilots of Washington, D.C., the Baccarats of Atlantic City, N.J., the Milford Yanks, the Milford Tigers, the Millsboro Mohawks, the Millsboro Cardinals and the Sussex Stars of Georgetown. Locally, he played with Preston Hopkins, Preston Jackson and William D. Burton, all of Millsboro. For 22 years, he served as an umpire for the Millsboro Little League. The name “Old Folks” was given him because he played ball with men of various ages.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Walters, who departed this life in 1984. Together, they raised his two daughters, Aleatha Short and Geraldine Beckett. In later years, he was cared for by Aleatha in her home until she became ill; then he was cared for by a niece, Marguarite Duffy.
Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne Bowden, Aleatha Short and Geraldine Beckett; two grandsons, Barry Beckett and Gregory Short; three nephews and their wives, Vernon Duffy, Braven and Odelia Duffie and Bermis and Marguerite Duffy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at Dickerson’s Chapel AME Church, Route 113, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Richard Worthy will officiate. Committal rites will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 14, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery
in Millsboro.
John F. Grezlikowski Jr.
retired researcher
John F. “Jack” Grezlikowski Jr., 76, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Monday, May 7, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late John F. and Rose Rucinski Grezlikowski.
He was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1948, and the former Goldey College. In his teenage years, Jack played the accordion in a band, a talent he maintained through the years, often entertaining his grandchildren with his music. He was employed for 42 years as a research technician in the Pioneering Research Division, Textiles Fibers Department of the DuPont Co. at the Experimental Station.
He retired in 1992 and then enjoyed 15 years of downstate living - fishing, crabbing, boating and relaxing. He was a current member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, as well as the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, Bishop James C. Burke Council 11285.
Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann E. Formus Grezlikowski; his children and their spouses, Judith and her husband, Victor Hudson of Newark, Jeanne and her husband, Glenn Morris, of Middletown and John F. Grezlikowski III and his wife Donna, of Oviedo, Fla.; his grandchildren, Kelly, James, Jeffrey, and Christopher Hudson, and Kristen and Michael Grezlikow-ski; a great-grandson, Anthony James Hudson; and a brother, Edmund Grezlikowski, of Millsboro.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Cedar and S. Clayton streets in Wilmington, at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 12. Burial will be in All Saints’ cemetery . Visitation will be at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 11.

Clara Belle Spicer,
centenarian
Prayers were answered for Clara Belle Spicer, 101, Saturday, May 5, as she passed away at the home of her grandson and his wife, Barry and Nancy Dodd of Georgetown. She went peacefully to her heavenly home while rocking in her favorite chair with her best friend, her dog Kodi, by her side. She would have been 102 in 23 days.
Mrs. Spicer was born May 28, 1905, in Georgetown. She was raised by her mother, Sarah Elizabeth (Wilkins) Rogers, in the Georgetown area.
Clara Belle was the oldest living member of the Oak Orchard Community Church. She was also a member of the Oak Orchard Cheer Center. In the 1940s and 1950s, Clara and her deceased husband, Curtis M. Spicer (1977), owned and operated the Indian River Hotel. They also owned and operated Spicer’s Garage in Oak Orchard and other businesses in the Oak Orchard area. In the 1960s and 1970s, Clara worked for 20 years for Arrow Safety Device. Clara Belle was a kind, giving, loving lady and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, Curtis M. Spicer (1977), Mrs. Spicer was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry Cubbage. She is survived by her grandson, George “Barry” Dodd and his wife Nancy S. of Georgetown; a great-granddaughter, Erika M. Dodd of Orlando, Fla.; a great-grandson, George B. Dodd II of Georgetown; a nephew Kurt Spicer of Bridgeville; a daughter, Kathleen Cherrix of Dover; two granddaughters Josephine Bergold of Dover and Sigrid Millman of Milton; and other great and great-great-grandchildren.
To honor the request of Clara Belle, there will be no funeral service. Instead, within our hearts, we will have a celebration of life that we will forever cherish. We ask that her family and friends do the same.

Cassie Jamerson Martin (nee Wood, Hubble) died Monday, May 7, 2007.
She was the beloved wife of the late William R. Martin and devoted mother of Gladys V. Day of Owings Mills, Md., Lillie I. Kemp of Georgetown, Delores M. Mitzel of Baltimore, Md., Rose D. Hale of Hanover, Pa. and formerly of Taneytown, Md., and the late Herbert H. Jamerson, Evelyn L. Wilhelm, and Gerald F. Jamerson.
She was the loving aunt and guardian mother of Katherine E. Grinnell of Fenwick, mother-in-law of Janet Jamerson, Cleveland Kemp, Charles L. Mitzel, Dennis Hale, Kenneth Grinnell and the late William Day; sister of the late Mittie Spradlin, Arthur Wood and Walter Hubble. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 11, at the Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home Inc. 3631 Falls Road.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery

James W. Buckley Jr.,

James W. “Herbie” Buckley Jr., 59, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 3, 2007, in the home of his lifelong friends and caregivers, George and Carmen Walsh of Lewes.
He was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Chester, Pa., son of the late James Walter Buckley Sr. and Anne Manley Buckley.
Mr. Buckley was disabled, but was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all sports.
He is survived by three sons, Matthew Buckley, James Buckley III and Michael Buckley, all of Colorado; his sister, Terry Buckley of Lincoln; a special aunt, Edna of Pennsylvania; and his lifelong friends and caregivers, George and Carmen Walsh of Lewes.
Services will be private.

Jack O. Hearn,

Jack O. Hearn, 71, of Georgetown, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, in his home.
Mr. Hearn was born in Frankford, son of the late Wallace F. and Sally R. Givens Hearn.
He graduated from Georgetown High School and obtained his master’s degree from Florida State University in 1968.
He was a social worker for the state of Delaware, Mental Health Clinic in Georgetown for 25 years, retiring in 1997.
For 30 years, Mr. Hearn was very active and a lay reader, first at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Georgetown, and later at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Milton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Hearn, in 2002; a brother, Melvin Hearn; and a sister, Janet King.
He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, David H. and Karen Hearn of Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” H. and Bill McGonegal of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Jack O. McGonegal and Catherine Hearn; three brothers, W. Paul Hearn of Georgetown, Lloyd Hearn of Wilmington and James Hearn of Salisbury, Md.; and a sister, Jeanne Amling of Alabama.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday in St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 307 Federal St., Milton.
Burial will be private.
