Henry L. Price Jr.,

Henry L. Price Jr., 80, of Bear, passed away peacefully at his residence Tuesday, July 10, 2007, surrounded by his family.
Born in Easton, Md., he was the son of the late Mary O’Connor and Henry L. Price Sr. During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for ICI America as a warehouseman, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of employment. His memberships included the Knights of Columbus. His first wife, Emily Mack Price, predeceased him in 1976.
Mr. Price will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Marie Bennett Price; his daughters, Donna Marioni of Newark and Carol Blakely of Lewes; stepsons, Ray Jones of Lewes, Walter Jones of Wilmington, Allen Jones of New Castle and Gary Jones of Rehoboth Beach. Also surviving are his brother, William Price of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Laurie, Michael, Jennifer, Kay and Kelly; and his great-grandchildren, Paul, Miranda, and Ethan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, July 13, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at All Saints’ cemetery , Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at the address listed above or the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Road #1, Newark, DE 19711.
Robert Krauss Jr.,

Robert Krauss Jr., 43, of Georgetown, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at home.
Paul was an avid pool player.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen Wood Krauss; his parents, Paul R. and Eileen E. Smagala Krauss Sr. of Chester Pa.; two sons, Paul R. Krauss III of Millsboro, and Brandon E. Krauss of Georgetown; a daughter, Kristin L. Krauss of Georgetown; two brothers, William Krauss of Warminster, Pa., and Christopher Krauss of Millsboro; a sister, Lisa Dixon of Bridgeville; and several nieces and nephews and loving in-laws.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, friends may call from noon to 1 p.m.

Rita Damato,
Rehoboth homemaker
Rita V. (Morelli) Damato, 82, of Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach.
Mrs. Damato was born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John Morelli and the late Concetta (Franciani) Morelli.
Mrs. Damato was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Damato, in July 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Concetta (Damato) Genstein and her husband Stanley of Rehoboth Beach; two sons, Joseph Damato of Philadelphia and Anthony Damato and his wife Terry of Absecon, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Blvd., Country Garden, Dagsboro, DE 19939.

Al Engleking,
speech pathologist
Al Engleking, 71, of Ft. Washington, Md., and Dewey Beach, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at his Ft. Washington home.
Born in rural Illinois, he came to Washington, D.C., in 1961 to get a master’s degree from Catholic University.
He worked for more than 30 years as a speech and language pathologist in the Prince Georges County (Md.) School System. He retired in 1997.
He started going to Rehoboth in 1963 and met his wife in 1973, when they were both in Dewey group houses.
They married in 1975, and in 1978 they bought their house in Dewey. He was involved in the process that led to Dewey being incorporated in 1981.
His continued involvement in the town culminated when he ran unsuccessfully for commissioner in 1997.
He was last seen in Dewey June 25 working at Vavala’s where he helped open the store. Other late sightings included searching for his wake-up Bloody Mary on Sundays at the Starboard and later that day on the beach at St. Louis St.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter Elizabeth and son in law Joe Meslovich of Harrisonburg Va.; his sister, Sylvia Pairadee of Sterling Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held in Upper Marlboro, Md., with burial on July 13 at Epworth cemetery
in Rehoboth Beach.

Shirley Ann Absher,
Sussex Tech retiree
Shirley Ann (Huffman) Absher, 65, of Bridgeville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Bayhealth Center, Milford.
She was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Coleraine Township, Pa., daughter of the late Hoke Luther and Alice Elizabeth (Price) Huffman.
Mrs. Absher lived most of her life in Bridgeville. She worked 10 years for the Shore Stop in Bridgeville before taking a position as a cafeteria worker at Sussex Tech, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed bluegrass music and festivals, traveling, camping and local stock car racing, as well as NASCAR. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known to all as “Aunt Shirley.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John M. Absher in 1994, and a brother Thomas Absher.
She is survived by her second husband, Mack Absher; her son, Johnny Absher and his wife Angie of Bridgeville; two daughters, Elizabeth “Susie” O’Day and her husband Jeff of Seaford and Molly Mitchell and her husband C.L. of Bridgeville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford Huffman of Laurel, Jerry Huffman of Texas and Clarence Huffman of Millsboro; three sisters, Doreen Wingate and Cora Lee Bowden, both of Bridgeville, and Mary Jones of Greenwood; and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Funeral services were held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Bridgeville, with interment in St. Johnstown cemetery , Greenwood.
Clara G. Deptula,
retired nurse
Clara G. Deptula, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the Berlin (Md.) Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Hunt.
Born Oct. 1, 1920, Clara was graduated from the Wilmington School of Nursing in 1942, as a registered nurse and worked in labor and delivery at the Wilmington General Hospital for 25 years.
Later she worked as an industrial nurse for the Havec Corp. of Marshallton, for 10 years, retiring in 1978.
Clara loved the beach and retired in Lewes, where she enjoyed walks on the beach and shopping at the outlet stores, especially King’s Ice Cream.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Joseph.
She is survived by her loving children, Joseph Jr., Judith and husband Bill Bachman, and James and wife Colleen; her grandchildren, Susan, Christine, Greg, Stuart, Chris, Ryan and Marie; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Gregory, Gage, Jaden and Ryan.
A Mass was held in St. Hedwig Church, Wilmington, with entombment in the Crypt of St. Jude Cathedral cemetery.

Anthony Gray Latham,

Anthony Gray Latham, 30, of Georgetown, died suddenly Saturday, July 7, 2007, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Elkton, Md.
Mr. Latham was born on Nov. 13, 1976, in Wilmington and was a contractor by profession.
He was an avid swimmer and greatly enjoyed movies and television.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Latham Sr.
He is survived by two children, Anthony Anderson of New Castle and Savanna Cathell of Elkton; his mother and stepfather, Gwynn Walker Webb and John Webb of Georgetown; three brothers, Marc A. Latham and his fiancée, Jennifer Dill of Elkton, Robert S. Latham Jr. of Wilmington and Billy Pauley of Elkton; and a sister, Donna Connor of Millsboro.
Services were held in Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle, where friends may call at 1 p.m., with burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Nell McVey Dunlap,

Nell McVey Dunlap, 85, of Milton, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in her home.
Mrs. Dunlap was born on Jan. 10, 1922, in Milford, daughter of the late Nina Biggs McVey.
She worked 14 years for Mercantile Press Inc. in Wilmington as a bookkeeper and proofreader and 14 years at the Thunderbird Shop in Rehoboth Beach.
Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Eastern Star, Brandywine Horticulture Society, specializing in bonsai and an accomplished painter in oils.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; and brother, William.
She is survived by a son, Douglas; a granddaughter, Cindy of California; second cousins, Nancy Conard of Milford and Harvey Conard of Bivalve, Md.
Services were private.
Lorraine S. Pasqual,
retired fashion buyer
Lorraine S. Pasqual, formerly of North Wilmington, passed quietly on Saturday evening, July 7, 2007, at her home in Lewes.
Lorraine, born July 17, 1920, in Wilmington, was the daughter of Harry and Alfreda Shockley Satterfield.
Lorraine retired as a buyer for the Purple Door of Greenville and Rehoboth Beach. Prior to the Purple Door, she was a fashion coordinator and buyer of women’s clothing for John Wanamaker, St. Augustine Cutoff, Wilmington. Remembered for her witty sense of humor, she was generous by nature and will always be loved and missed by family and friends.
Her husband, James J. Pasqual, preceded her in death. Her devoted daughter, Andrea K. George and son-in-law Thomas F. George; her grandson, Michael J. George and Theresa, of Wilmington, and her beloved great-grandson, Dominic, survive her. A nephew, Harry Satterfield of Dover, also survives her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, July 12, at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, Greenville. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

Edith Jane Peterson,
former schoolteacher
Edith Jane Vanaman Peterson, 92, of Lewes and Wilmington, went home to be with the Lord, whom she loved and served for 80 years, Tuesday, July 10, 2007.
Edith was born in Woodstown, N.J., Dec. 15, 1914, daughter of the late Harry and Nellie Seagraves Vanaman.
She was married to the Rev. Dr. Harold I. Peterson, former pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington. He preceded her in death in 1985.
In addition to being a pastor’s wife and a mother, Edith taught school at Wilmington Christian School and in later years served as a house mother at the Beebe School of Nursing in Lewes.
Those loving and surviving her are a daughter, Dr. Barbara Peterson, Lewes; a son, Robert D. Peterson; grandson, Bob Peterson II and Krissy; a great-granddaughter, Jade Peterson, all of Claymont; two adopted granddaughters, Cathy Schenker of Milton and Lynn Bastian of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four nieces; a nephew; and hundreds of former students, adopted grandchildren and friends.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 15, in her church, the First Baptist Church, Kings Highway, Lewes. Burial was held in Lawnside cemetery , Woodstown, N.J.

John I. Hill,

John I. Hill, 85, of Lewes, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Hill was born April 9, 1922, in Wilmington, son of the late Charles W. Jr. and Mary Thornton Hill.
He was a veteran of World War II and fought in Patton’s Third Army, seeing action in all five major battles in the European front.
After an honorable discharge, Mr. Hill worked as a sheet metal mechanic for 40 years and as a furniture maker off and on for 20 years.
He enjoyed boating, playing the guitar and telling jokes to anyone who would listen.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jean Hill in 2003; one son, Francis Joseph Hill; and one grandchild.
He is survived by two sons, Andrew P. Hill of Bristow, Va.; John M. Hill of Chestertown, Md.; daughter, Jacqualine Helmer of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 13, at St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, Galena, Md. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans cemetery
in Bear.
