Martin Schmidt Sr.,
retired salesman
Martin Schmidt Sr., 66, of McRae, Ark. and formerly of Delaware, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, in Lewes after a short illness.
Mr. Schmidt was born July 1, 1941, to the late William Schmidt and Mary Fisher Schmidt in Newark, N.J.
After graduating Jules Mastbaum Vocational School in Philadelphia in 1959, he served in the motor pool of the Army National Guard, attending boot camp in Fort Knox, Ky., in 1960 and then went into a lifetime career in sales.
He was an employee of Dover Electric for 10 years and sold trailers for Angola Beach and other parks in Sussex County for many years.
He was an avid hunter, bowler and card player.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Delores Lukemire of McRae, Ark.; his son, Martin Schmidt Jr. of Ellendale; a brother, Ray Schmidt of Florida; a stepson, Perry Friend of Milford; a stepdaughter, Susan Martin of Lewes; and two beloved grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his third wife, Nancy Schmidt of Lewes.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes.

Stephen R. Bryson,
glazier
Stephen R. Bryson, 60, of Lewes, died suddenly on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007.
Mr. Bryson was born in Wilmington to the late Stephen S. and Margaret Bryson. He served in the U.S. Army and was a glazier by profession. Mr. Bryson was a member of the Glaziers Local Union 252, Joseph B. Stahl Post 30 American Legion, AMVETS, Elks Lodge, New Castle Rod & Gun Club, Durney Post, and had been a Mason. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, softball and shuffleboard.
Besides his parents, Mr. Bryson was preceded in death by his brother, Richard A. Bryson.
Mr. Bryson is survived by his daughter, Deanna M. Carrow of Middletown; son Stephen M. Bryson and daughter-in-law Karen Bryson of Newark; mother of his children and former wife, Nicasia Bryson-Civarelli; former wife, Jeanne Bryson; and grandchildren, Stephen C. Bryson, Joseph A. Carrow and Ryan P. Bryson.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 2 p.m.

Michael Yeako Jr.,
O. A. Newton retiree
Michael “Mike” Yeako Jr., 84, of Long Neck, formerly of Greenwood, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Lewes Convalescent Center.
Mr. Yeako was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Bridgeville, to the late Michael Sr. and Antoinette Bassette Yeako.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 78th Division, Field Artillery Battalion, 309 A Battery.
Mr. Yeako worked for O.A. Newton & Sons, Bridgeville, as an appliance serviceman for 45 years, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and doing leather crafting.
Mr. Yeako was a life member of the Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7478.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gladys Mae Williamson Yeako; two children and their spouses, Bonnie Mae and Terry Freer of Bradenton, Fla., and Jimmy W. and Martie Yeako of Long Neck; four grandchildren, Patricia, Michelle, Sherri and Terry Lee Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Yeako of Winter Haven, Fla.; and a sister, Mary Morris of Seaford.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be at St. Johnstown cemetery, Greenwood.

Carrie Melvin,
hospital retiree
Carrie Melvin, 77, of Hartly passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, in Capitol Health Care Center, Dover.
Mrs. Melvin was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Hazlettville, daughter of the late Edward Caldwell Sr. and Cynthia Seamen Caldwell.
Mrs. Melvin worked as an attendant at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, for 27 years before retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Melvin, in 1990; a sister, Edith Neidig; and a brother, Bunny Seamen.
She is survived by a son, William L. Melvin Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hartly; two daughters, Betty Jo Charles and her husband Jerry of Woodside, and Ruth Ann Walters and her husband Tracy of Dover; four brothers, Edward Caldwell Jr. of Galena, Md., Bill Caldwell of Canterberry, Dan Caldwell of Rehoboth Beach, and Louis Caldwell of Clayton; two sisters, Mary Williams of Kenton, and Betty Ann McGinnes of Rehoboth Beach; six grandchildren, Kenny Knowles, Karen Graubart, Michelle Brennan, Shannon Peers, Erin Evers and Billy Melvin III; and seven great-grandchildren KJ, Kara, Brittany, Mia, Tanner, Ian and Mackenzie.
Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery, Camden.
Florence A. Davis,
retired nurse
Florence A. Camper Davis, 87, of Millsboro, formerly of Camden, N.J., died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Green Valley Pavilion, Millsboro, where she had been a resident for the past six years.
Florence was born in Camden, N.J., on March 20, 1920, to the late John M. Camper Sr. and Mary Ingram Camper.
She spent her entire life in Camden, where she received her education and later obtained her practical nursing license, working in nursing until her retirement.
Florence was married to Otis Davis, who predeceased her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John M. Camper Jr.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Robert Grant of Millsboro; a niece and her husband, Sondra F. and Bishop Sherman Mosley of Egg Harbor, N.J.; and a nephew and his wife, Bradley and Lucille Camper of Charleston, S.C.
Graveside services were held at People’s Memorial Park, Lewes.

Catherine Elsie Boston,
expert seamstress
Catherine Elsie Boston, 82, of Milford, and formerly of Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood. Mrs. Boston was born in Tomhicken, Pa., the daughter of the late Leroy H. and Martha Kirchdoerfer Pettit. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Boston was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, Milford and a former member of the Rehoboth Lioness Club in Rehoboth Beach. Mrs. Boston enjoyed doing handicrafts such as knitting and crocheting. She was also quite an accomplished seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leroy Boston Jr. in 1987; a sister, Margaret Haines; and a brother, Harry Pettit.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kathryn and Jay Alan Konesey of Milford; a grandson and his wife, Justin Alan and Heather Konesey of Milford; as well as one niece and three nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Entombment will be private in Henlopen Memorial Park, Route 1 near Milton.

Thomas Geoghegan,

Thomas James Geoghegan, 58, of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Thomas departed this life into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mr. Geoghegan relocated to Sussex County from Brandywine, Md., in 2006. He had been employed in the professional heating and air conditioning business in Columbia, Md., and was a member of Local 602 Steamfitters Union, Capital Heights, Md., for more than 20 years. Thomas liked boating and fishing, and enjoyed Delaware’s finer restaurants and cuisine.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Geoghegan, formerly of North Forestville, Md.
He is survived by his loving spouse of three years, Patricia Ann Hanna Geoghegan of Greenwood; his mother, Thelma May Robertson Geoghegan, of Manassas Park, Va.; two stepdaughters, Karen Steel of Millsboro, and Melanie Brierley of Newark; his best friend, Charles Buchanan of Georgetown; three sons, Thomas Geoghegan of Annapolis, Md.; Bryan Geoghegan and his wife Erin of Annapolis; and Christopher Geoghegan of Alexandria, Va.; a grandson, Patrick Geoghegan of Annapolis; a sister, Patricia Lomp and her husband Andrew of Bristol, Va.; and a brother, Robert Geoghegan and his wife Patricia of Columbia.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Ronald Wyatt will officiate.
Interment will be private.

Joseph F. Salisbury Sr.,
prominent attorney
Joseph Francis Salisbury Sr., 81, of Lewes, has “gone to a far, far better place than he has ever been,” and died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Harbor Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, in Lewes.
Born Nov. 23, 1925, in New Brunswick, N.J., Mr. Salisbury’s family moved to the Washington D.C. area. He attended and graduated from Gonzaga High School College. Due to his young age at graduation, Mr. Salisbury served a term as a page boy in the U.S. Senate. Following his service “on the Hill,” he enrolled at the University of Notre Dame. Shortly thereafter, he was called up and had already indicated his preference for the U.S. Navy. He served during Word War II, aiming for his pilot’s license as part of the Naval Air Corps.
However, the war ended and Mr. Salisbury returned to Notre Dame to complete his college degree, graduating in 1948 with degrees in philosophy and economics.
He graduated in 1951 with a law degree from Georgetown University Law School. He spent several years with the U.S. Attorney’s office, then worked on Capitol Hill on various committees.
Following that work, he went into private practice. After several years, Congress created the Indian Claims commission where Mr. Salisbury worked as an assistant commissioner until his retirement in 1977.
Before and after retirement, Mr. Salisbury spent 22 years coaching baseball, from Little League-type baseball to American Legion teams, including coaching his namesake, Joe Jr., and his stepson, Paul Indeglia.
When “Mr. Sals” (which was what all his teams called him) retired, the American Legion Bethesda Post 105 had a special ceremony for him so that he would never forget how important he was to the team and to the Legion (the Legion gave him a rocking chair and a case of beer so he could watch the Orioles games in prime comfort).
In 1993, Mr. Salisbury moved to Lewes, and the Woods on Herring Creek community. He became involved with the community and its affairs, serving for many years as vice president of the Home Owners Association board of directors (he always referred to himself as “president-in-charge of vice”).
He is survived by his sister, Kathryn Salisbury, of Lewes; his seven children, Michael Salisbury of Tigard, Ore.; Elizabeth and Matthew F. Salisbury of Virginia Beach, Va.; Carol and James A. Salisbury of Shippensburg, Pa.; Mary Salisbury Bieler and Thorsten Bieler of Hamburg, Germany; John A. Salisbury of Arlington, Va.; Robyn and Joseph F. Salisbury Jr., of Damascus, Md.; and Joann Salisbury Stocklin and Scott Stocklin of Northborough, Mass. His first marriage ended in 1977.
He is also survived by his wife of 21 years, Katherine Wanless Indeglia Salisbury, and his stepchildren, Allegra and Vincent A. Indeglia, Christine and Robert A. Indeglia Jr., Paul A. Indeglia and Karen and Marc A. Indeglia; 10 grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, with interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro.
