Casarino, Dominic A.
Dominic A. Casarino, Jr., age 64, of Heritage Park, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 surrounded by his family.
Son of the late Dominic and Florence (nee Zampini) Casarino, Mr. Casarino was a carpenter and member of the Carpenters Local 626 for 46 years. He was an active volunteer at the Brandywine Convalescent Home and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Mr. Casarino was a 1954 graduate of Conrad High School and an Army veteran.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Frances (Warrant) Casarino; three sons, Dominic, III, Joseph, and Marc, all of Wilmington; and two sisters, Julia Maliszewski of Claymont, and Marie Bertomeu of Wilmington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Road, Wilmington. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday evening between 6 pm and 8 pm at the Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Casey, Joan Elizabeth
JOAN ELIZABETH CASEY, of Elkton, Maryland formerly of Wilmington, died Friday, February 23, 2001 due to inflammatory breast cancer at home. She was 55.
Mrs. Casey was born September 13, 1945 in Henderson, Nevada to the late Robert N. and Anna E. (Wilson) Davis.
She was employed as a Marketing Communicatons Manager for DuPont Zodiaq™.
She was a member of the Dover Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was a kind, generous, and inspiring woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, landscaping her yard, traveling and her work.
She is survived by her husband: Thomas J. Casey of Elkton; 2 sons: Tucker Casey of Wilmington, Matthew Casey of Newark; 1 daughter: Kelly Weibling and her husband Richard of Hartly; 1 brother: Robert H. Davis and his wife Barbara of Middletown; 2 sisters: Elaine Blackwell of Newark, Catherine O. Moore and her husband Sam of Hartly; 2 Grandchildren: Madison Elizabeth Weibling and Rachael Lee Weibling, both of Hartly; 3 nieces, 2 nephews; 3 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thurday, March 1, 2001 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold. Arrangements are being handled by Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Cephas, Roland William
Roland William Cephas of Federalsburg died at Shore Nursing Home in Denton, Maryland on Saturday, February 10, 2001. He was 75. He was born on June 10, 1925 in Hurlock, MD the son of the late Roland Washington Cephas and Mary Frances Hubbard Cephas. At age 18, he entered the United States Army during World War II, and served overseas in France, Belgium and Okinawa.
During his life he worked as a truck driver, including twenty-seven years of service to National Freight Inc., a Van Driver for U-Star, and James Julian Construction in Wilmington. He was a member of Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg. He is survived his wife of twenty-one years, Jeanette Todd Cephas of Federalsburg, a daughter, Joan Bataille of Federalsburg, two grandsons, Clayton Baynard, Jr. and Eugene Baynard, one great-grandson, Clayton Baynard, III, three brothers, James Cephas and Leroy Cephas both of Federalsburg, and Solomon Cephas of Hurlock, five sisters, Pauline Camper of Philadelphia, Mabel Obey of New York, NY, Lottie Camper of Federalsburg, Anna Thomas of Federalsburg, and Mildred Waters of Hurlock and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Hubbard Cephas preceded him in death. Funeral services for him will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg with the Rev. Dennis Foster officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service. Interment will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery at Hurlock at 10a.m.. Cerny, M.D., Jaroslav
DOVER -- Jaroslav Cerny, M.D. of Dover, died Friday, January 19, 2001, in his home. He was 96. Dr. Cerny was born in Librantice, Czech Republic on October 23, 1904, son of the late Katherina Kuhn and Ludwig Cerny. Dr. Cerny graduated in 1931 from Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic and began his practice in Czech Republic before coming to the United States. Upon entering the United States he practiced medicine for the state of Michigan. He retired from the state of Michigan in 1971. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Jaroslava Cerny, two daughters Veronica Cerny, M.D. and Eva Cerny, M.D. both of Dover, a son Jaroslav Cerny, O.D. of Boone, NC and three granddaughters Rhoda Cerny of Milan Italy, Natale Cerny and Lorraine Cerny both of Boone, N.C. Services and burial will be private in Oreb, Trebechovice, Czech Republic at a later date. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Katherine R. “Kit” Chamberlain, age 58, of Seaford, De died on Friday, February 02, 2001 at Genesis Elder Care, Seaford Center of Heart Failure. Mrs. Chamberlain was a homemaker. She is survived by 1 son, Michael Chamberlain of Largo, Florida, 1 grandson, Judson Chamberlain of Bishopville, MD, 1 brother, Franklin Baker of Seaford, 5 sisters, Rachael Hewett and Della Sotack of Shallote, North Carolina, Edith Wilkins and Sue Taylor of Seaford and B. J. Johnstone of Cambridge, MD. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3rd at 2 PM at Seaford Wesleyan Church, 1020 S. Dupont Hwy, Seaford. Burial will be private. Chandler, Flossie M.
Florence "Flossie" M. Chandler, 74, of Hockessin, departed this life quietly at Christiana Hospital on Friday, January 26, 2001.
Flossie was an enduring presence at Buckley's Tavern , where she worked for over 35 years, retiring in 1994 as manager. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5892 in Hockessin. Her husband, William, died in 1972.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Chandler, with whom she lived, and Barbara Yarnall of Toughkenamen, a granddaughter, Shannon Yarnall and a great grandson, Dylan Yarnall, both of Ohio; and her "favorite son", David Yarnall of Avondale, PA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday morning between 8:00 am and 9:30 am at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Charnick, Mary Lou
Mary Lou Charnick, 73, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, November 07, 2000 at her daughter’s residence in Dover, Delaware. Born in Crisfield, MD she was the daughter of the late John S. McGrath and Mae Mills McGrath.
Mrs. Charnick was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the Happy Timers. Prior to being disabled in 1980, she was employed at Campbell’s Soup and Wicomico Memorial Park. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Charnick of Salisbury; a daughter Kay Thomas Conaway and her husband Mike of Dover, DE; two stepchildren, David Charnick and his wife Millie of Oak Orchard, DE. and Cora Kampe of Seaford, DE; five grandchildren, Zachary Conaway, Kelly Conaway, Kari Sullivan, Beth Charnick and Krystin Kampe; three sisters: Addie Mae Lawson and Catherine Lankford of Crisfield and Sara Andrews of Pocomoke City and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 10, 2000, at 1:00 P.M. at Holloway Funeral Home, in Salisbury, where friends may call from 11:30 AM-1 P.M. The Rev. Howard Gordy will officiate. Entombment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Childress, Sr., Russell L.
Russell L. Childress, Sr. Ph.D., 83, distinquished in the education field as well as the real estate industry, died of heart disease caused by diabetes in Conowingo, Maryland on Wednesday March 28, 2001. Dr. Childress began his teaching career in Amherst, Virginia, where he was born on June 1, 1917. He received his B.S. in Education and M.S. in Marketing at Virginia Tech, and he received his Ph.D. in Economics/Marketing at Cornell University in 1951, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. During World War II, he served as Infantry Captain in the U.S. Army, and retired as a Lt. Colonel (USAR). After the war, Dr. Childress served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. as a Marketing Economist, and while living in Beltsville, Maryland he served as Chairman of the Education Committee of the Beltsville Citizens Association, Director of the Prince Georges County, Maryland Boys Club, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Desegregation for the school board, and was a member of the School Board Selection Committee. The University of Delaware, Southeastern University, and the Northern Virginia Community College were among the institutions where he taught . He became the Chairman of the Real Estate Department at Southeastern University after entering into the real estate business in 1963 in Springfield, Virginia. He graduated from the Realtors Instistute in 1965. While pioneering the concept of franchising the residential real estate industry as the first Century 21 broker in Springfield, Virginia, and Chairman of the Century 21 National Capital Area Brokers Council, Dr. Childress implemented many of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors educational needs for the Realtor's Institute and the Education Committee. He was also on the Real Estate Advisory Committee of the Northern Virginia Community College. He was president of the PTA for Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia, where he was awarded Life Membership in the Virginia Congress of PTAs for distinguished leadership and service. Dr. Childress served as a Chairman of the Deacons, and was active in the Baptist and Methodist Churches. He was a member of the College Park Lions Club, and was President of the Springfield-Franconia Mid-day Lions Club. His participation with the business and professional men of The Gideons International Christian Association was his most passionate interest in his later years. The purpose of the Association is the promotion of the Gospel of Christ to all people. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marybel Flora Childress, of Conowingo, Maryland and Family: sons Russ Childress Jr., of Conowingo, Maryland and Steve Childress, of Fairfax, Virginia; daughter Nancy Flora Childress, of Alexandria, Virginia; granddaughters Kathy Burns and Beth Ehrhart, of Conowingo, Maryland, and Lauri Dorand and Charlene Childress, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great granddaughter Anna Kathleen Ehrhart of Conowingo, Maryland; and great grandsons Ross Mark Burns, Jr. and Elijah Michael Ehrhart, both of Conowingo, Maryland. Other survivors are sisters Ethel C. Farrar, of Gladstone, Virginia and Mary C. Shannon, of Delaware, Ohio; and niece, Phyllis C. Poston, of Forest, Virginia. Service will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on April 16, 2001. Meet at the Administration Building at 10:30AM........go to the main gate, and ask for directions. The funeral procession will caravan from there by car at 11AM to the graveside service by Chaplain Jim May (703) 695-8158. There will be a luncheon reception immediately following the service, with the location to be announced at the gravesite. Background: Mrs. Christoferson worked for the State of Delaware as a fees collector for Parks and Recreation. She belonged to St. Michaels Parish in Georgetown, was very active with the Cheer Center in Georgetown, and was a former member of the Grange in Georgetown. In her spare time she enjoyed working on crafts.

Lois Marie Adams Cianelli Age 64, of Chesapeake City, MD, died Monday, April 2, 2001 at her residence in Chesapeake City, MD. Mrs. Cianelli was a PBX Operator in the Health Care Industry and a member of St. Catherine's Church in Orange Park, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Dallas M. Adams and her Half-brother, Jay Vaughn. Mrs. Cianelli is survived by her son and his wife, Steven G. and Donna Cianelli of Chesapeake City, MD, her daughters, Karen L. Cianelli of Orlando, FL and Trina G. Drysdale of Jacksonville, FL, her granddaughter, Danielle Dallas Drysdale, also of Jacksonville, 2 grandsons, Michael Grant Cianelli and Steven Thomas Cianelli, both of Chesapeake City, her brother, Ronald Adams of York, PA and 2 cousins, Quentin and Eva Turman.
