Ciszkowski, Nellie A.

Nellie A. Ciszkowski, 78, of Ocean View and Stanton, died at Christiana Hospital on Thursday, February 1, 2001.

Mrs Ciszkowski worked in quality control at Ludlow’s for 20 years before her retirement in the 1970’s. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard F., in 1995 and by her daughter, Barbara A. McGuirk in 1979.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan M. and William G. Hedrick, Jr. with whom she lived, three grandchildren, seven great grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 5 at 2:00 pm at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. Friends are invited to call on Monday between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Road, Wilmington. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Clark, Mary E.

Mary E. Clark, 93, of Rising Sun, MD, died Thursday, February 15, 2001 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. Mrs. Clark was a nurses aide at Calvert Manor before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Cecil County Homemakers for many years and a member of Conowingo Baptist Church where she was a church clerk for 35 years. She is survived by 2 sons, Frederick F. Clark, Jr. of North East, MD and Benjamin L. Clark of Rising Sun; 3 daughters, Thelma Criswell of Newburgh, IN, Kay Hall of Lewes, DE and Mary Ellen Gerzema of Lexington, SC; a half-sister, Ellen Sebold of Port Deposit, MD; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick F. Clark, Sr., who passed away in 1987. Services were held Saturday, February 17th at Conowingo Baptist Church. Burial was in Rosebank Cemetery, Rising Sun. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Conowingo Baptist Church c/o R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

Clark-Gentile, Audrey R.

Audrey R. Clark Gentile, 92 of Claymont, De, died on Saturday January 20, 2001 in Hockessin. Mrs. Gentile was a homemaker and loving mother to all her children. She was on the cradle roll of the former First Church of Wilmington and a member of the First and Central Presbyterian Church.During WW2 she worked in the Railroad Shops and later was the Assistant Manager of Golden Eagle Senior Citizens Gift Shop. Her first husband Samuel S. Clark died in 1941 and her second husband John Gentile died 1981. She was also preceded in death by her mother Mary Ann Courtney Perkins, her sisters Greta S. Bowers and Mabel M. Perkins. She is survived by her children June Cox and her husband George, Doris Dugan, Phyllis Santo and her husband Joseph, Nancy Wilton and her husband Fred, David Clark and his wife Sonya, Kay Gentile Barritt and her husband Bill, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, her niece Ruth F. Perkins and cousin Alvah Lynam. Services will be on Friday January 26, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL Kirkwood Hwy. and Duncan Rd. where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 3515 Silverside Rd. Wilm., DE 19810.

Clarke, Edward W.

Edward W. Clarke, 75, Lakeview Dr., DOVER, passed away Monday December 11, 2000 at his Residence with family and friends.

He was born on May 31, 1925 in Dover, DE to Edward and Lotta (Simmons) Clark and lived in Dover all his life.

He was a supervisor with the US Postal service for 36 years. He was also employed as a part time parking Mgr. for Dover Downs for 30 years. Mr. Clarke was a member of the National Assoc. Retired Frederal Employees and President of the loca;l chapter for 9 years. Member of the DAV and the American Legion Fox Post Dover. Life member of the Dover VFW and past Commander 1960-1961. Mr. Clarke was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed golf and gardening. Mr. Clark was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Asiatic And Pacific Sea and was involved in the Normandy invasion. He is preceded in death by a brother Gordon M. Clarke..

He is survived by wife of 55 years, Glorenna "Glennie" Clarke of DOVER, DE. SON and his wife, Edward W. and Charlotte Clark, Jr. of DOVER, DE. SON, Ronald H. Clarke of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. DAUGHTER and her husband, Yvonne E. and Michael Burleigh of Felton, DE. BROTHER and his wife, Benjamin and Clara Clark of Hartly, DE. SISTER and her husband, Ruth and Kiff Holt of Griffin, GA. 5 Grand sons Danny and Jason Clarke, Chris, Dustin and Allan Burleigh

Remembrance Services will be held Friday 12/15/2000 11:00 AM at TRADER FUNERAL HOME in DOVER, DE with Rev. Ron WUEST officiating. Burial will be at the DELAWARE VETERANS MEM. CEM. Bare, DE also Friday 12/15/2000 01:00 PM.

Friends may call Thursday 12/14/2000 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM at the TRADER FUNERAL HOME in DOVER.

CARRIE LYNCH CLENDANIEL

Age 83 of Lincoln, DE, died Monday, February 5, 2001 at home after a courageous fight against cancer.

Mrs. Clendaniel was born in Roxana, DE, the daughter of the late Ezekiel and Carrie Lynch. She graduated in 1938 from the Milford Hospital School of Nursing with an R.N. Degree and subsequently became the Nursing Supervisor of the Milford Hospital Children’s Ward until leaving in 1942. Mrs. Clendaniel continued her nursing career in private duty until her two sons entered grade school. In 1957 she accepted the position of School Nurse at Lulu Ross Elementary School in Milford while also attending classes through the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her B.S. Degree in Nursing. Mrs. Clendaniel worked for the school district for 21 years retiring in 1978. During her time as a school nurse she touched the lives of hundreds of children as evidenced by the many who approached her over the years thanking her for helping them when they were elementary students at her school.

Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively through out the United States, eventually spending their winters in Bonita Springs, FL and summers in Slaughter Beach, DE. Carrie thoroughly enjoyed socializing with her friends, growing flowers and was an avid card player. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, George Clendaniel, two sons and daughter-in-laws; George Clendaniel, Jr. and his wife Martha of Pittsburgh, PA and Gary Clendaniel and his wife Norma of Fair Hill, MD and five grandchildren; Kelly Clendaniel and Kristen Clark of Pittsburgh, PA, Wayde Clendaniel and Ryan Clendaniel of Fair Hill, MD and Meade Clendaniel of Davidson, NC.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2001 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE, where friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, Georgetown Professional Park, Suite 107, 600 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE, 19947

Cole, Robert E.

Robert E. “Bobby” Cole of Clayton, Delaware, died in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital Thursday November 23, 2000. He was 47. Bobby was born February 11, 1953 the son of Earl B. Steele Sr. of Hartly, Delaware and the late Alice May Cole. He was a self-employed landscaper for several years. He enjoyed wildlife photography, fishing and crabbing. In addition to his father, he is survived by 1 son, Joseph E. Fretz of Clayton, Delaware. 1 sister, Alice May Steele Manz of Middletown, Delaware; his Aunt, Mona Louise Cole with whom he lived; his cousin, Richard Fretz of Clayton, Delaware and 5 nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday November 27, 2000 at 1PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

Anne C. Conlin

Age 87 of Wilmington died Thursday, March 15, 2001 in the St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Conlin was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ Our King Church, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and did work for the Parish Outreach. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Conlin, Sr., who died in 1993. She is survived by her son, William J. Conlin, Jr., and his wife Stephanie Malleus of Wilmington, her daughter, Kathleen P. Carney and her husband John of Rehoboth Beach; her grandchildren, Bryan Conlin, Christina Conlin, Nancy Shugar and John Carney, Jr.; and her great grandson Alex Carney. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Christ Our King Church, 28th and Madison Sts., Wilmington on Monday, March 19 at 11 am, where friends may call after 10 am. Cook, Frank A.

Frank A. Cook, 80, of Newark, DE, died Friday, February 23, 2001 at home. Mr. Cook graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service during World War II. He worked for the United Engineers & Constructors in Philadelphia and then went to work for Delmarva Power, retiring as Senior Vice President. He was also a chairman of PJM Power Pool. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy E. Cook of Newark; 2 sons, Frank Cook, Jr. of Media, PA and David Cook of Wilmington, DE; 2 grandchildren, Lauren & Philip Cook; 1 brother, Robert S. Cook of Wayne, PA; 2 sisters, Florence Heydt of Blue Bell PA and Alice Shields of Trenton, NJ. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 27, 2001 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 275 S. College Ave., Newark. Burial will be in St. Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery. Cooke, Barbara J.

Barbara J. Cooke Age 65, of Newark, DE died January 28, 2001 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark. Mrs. Cooke was a retired financial secretary for the Christina School District in Newark. Mrs. Cooke is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald J. Cooke, who died in February of 2000. She is survived by her sons, Michael J. Cooke, Gregory J. Cooke and his wife Sandi, and Stephen J. Cooke, all of Newark, one sister, Betty Cantler Kilby of Aston, PA, one brother, Donald Gordon Cantler of Jarrell, TX, 2 grandsons, Kyle G. and Ryan J. Cooke, both of Newark, one nephew, Harold Schraishuhn of New Zealand and her niece Bette Stant of Trainer, PA. Services will be held 2pm on February 2, 2001 at the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE where family and friends may visit from 7-9pm, Thursday, February Burial will follow the service in the Newark Cemetery. Cope, Jr., Stephen James

Stephen James Cope, Jr., beloved son of Stephen and Mary Cope, was stillborn at Christiana Hospital on Saturday, December 30, 2000.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is survived by his great great grandmother, Mary Myers of Highspire, PA; a paternal great grandmother, Dorothy Holding of England; great grandparents, Joseph and Viola Mahek of Claymont, DE, and William and Ruth Talley of Hayesville, NC; grandparents, David and Elsie Cope and John and Lynn Mahek of Newark; aunts, Katherine Brown and Paula Cope; uncles, John Mahek, Jr. and Adam Mahek, Sr.; and two cousins, Brittney Mahek and Adam Mahek, Jr.

Committal services will be held at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1st State Chapter, 100 West 10th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Cord Jr., Arthur E.

Age: 54 Address: Bridgeville, DE Died: Aug. 18, 2000, at his home.

Background: Mr. Cord worked at the Orient Chemical Corp. in the maintenance department. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for eight years serving 2 tours in Vietnam. Mr. Cord belonged to the N.R.A. and the A.A.R.P.

Cormier, Jean J.

Jean J. Cormier, 61, of Pike Creek, died suddenly on Sunday, December 17, 2000 at Christiana Hospital.

Mr. Cormier worked at General Motors in Newport for three years as a plumbing engineer, and at the GM Plant in Tarrytown, NY from 1965. He was a member of the U.A.W. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cecile M. Cormier.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anna Breau Cormier; a son, Robert of Wilmington, two daughters, Linda Cormier of Wilmington and Nancy Cormier-Weaver and her husband, Byron of Putnam Valley, NY; a granddaughter, Lauren Cormier; a brother, Ulysse Cormier of Lake Grove, NY; four sisters, Ida Fiala of West Yarmouth, MA, Rose Tremblay of Elmsford, NY, Lorraine Petro of Ossining, NY, and Aline Perrin of Roswell, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 21 at 11:00 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. Friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday evening between 6 pm and 8 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1601 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
