Background: Mr. Failing was a truck driver for the Layton Truck Co. and also drove for Chicks in Harrington. Mr. Failing was a US Army veteran who served during WW II. Mr. Failing attended the Asbury United Methodist Church and he liked music and loved to sing. Born: Laray, New York

Service: Thursday, August 24, 2000 Time: 11:30 A.M. Place: Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington Officiating: Mark Yoder Jr.

Internment: Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Georgetown

Viewing: Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Faries, Irene E.

Irene E. Faries, 87, died peacefully on Wednesday January 24 at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, where she was a resident for the last 5 ˝ years. A lifelong Delawarean, she worked as a seamstress at Commerce Cleaners in Smyrna before retiring to Oak Orchard, Del. She was a past President and member of the Citizens Hose Co. Auxiliary, Smyrna.

Mrs. Faries was preceded in death by her husband, Irving “Bud” Faries, in 1981.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Janice Nabb, of Clayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris Jean and Franklin “Pete” Ector, of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday January 27 at the Pastoral Care Chapel of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, where friends may call at 12:00 PM.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to: Gideons International, Central Delaware Camp, PO Box 622, Dover, De. 19933.

Farmer, Bill Leon

Bill Leon Farmer, 59, of Newark, DE, died Sunday, November 26, 2000 at his home. Mr. Farmer was the son of the late Wilma Lakin Corder and Edmund Doyle Farmer.

Bill formerly worked for Local Union 542 Operating Engineers for 34 years. He also worked for DNREC since 1994 as an environmental technician.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane Malgiri Farmer; his sons, Michael of Newark and Mark and his wife, Irene, of Wilmington. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, Alex, Rachel and Donovan. He also leaves a brother, Edmund of Albany, OR.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 30 at ____ am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear where friends and relatives are invited to visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Farrington, Margaret F.

Margaret F. Farrington, age 83, of New Castle died on Saturday November 25, 2000 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Farrington will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Wayne; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Ira Lunt of New Castle; a son and daughter–in-law Wayne and Nancy S. Farrington of Washington Township NJ; 6 grandchildren, Cynthia Schulze of Delaware City, Kathryn Lehman of New Castle, Tami Farrington Abbott of Rehobeth, Christiane Schulze of New Castle, Todd James Farrington of Rehobeth and Thomas Lunt of New Castle; 2 sisters Mildred DiCave of Green Ridge PA and Mary Redding of Eddystone PA.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a viewing at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, on Tuesday November 27 from 6-8pm. Friends are also invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday November 28 in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park at 11:45 am. Interment will follow at the adjoining cemetery

Farrow, Octavia M.

Octavia M. Farrow, 98, Evergreen Dr., DOVER, passed away Thursday December 28, 2000 at CAPITAL NURSING HOME Dover.

She was born on April 28, 1902 in Willow Grove, DE to Orville and Carrie (Schuler) Moore.

She was a superviser at playtex for over 30 years. She is preeced in death by her husband Reuben Farrow, Sr. that died in 1946 and a son Reuben Farrow, Jr. in 1996.

She is survived by a DAUGHTER, Elneta Farrow-Ketchum of Lakeland, FL. Sister, Emma Green of DOVER, DE. Sister, Verna Cohee of DOVER, DE. Sister, Becky Johnston of DOVER, DE. Sister, Flora Buckalew of Milford, DE. , 2 Sister-in-laws , 4 Grand Sons , 1 Grand Daughter , Several Great Grand Children .

Remembrance Services will be held Sat. 12/30/2000 01:00 PM at TRADER FUNERAL HOME in DOVER, DE. Burial will be at the Barrett"s Chapel Cemetery Frederica, De.

Friends may call one hour before time of the service .

Ferro, Sr., John Joseph

John Joseph Ferro, Sr. Age 69, of Elkton, MD, died February 6, 2001 in the Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Mr. Ferro was a salesman in the home improvement industry and was a member of Aetna, Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Newark, DE. Mr. Ferro is preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Fulton Ferro, who died in 1983. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth F. Ferro, of Elkton, MD, John J. Ferro, Jr. of Newark, DE, Bruce S. Ferro of North East, MD, and Daniel F. Ferro of Newark, his daughter, Kim E. Ritchie of Elkton, MD, 4 grandchildren and a nephew, Donald Sharpe, of Newark, DE. Services will be held 1pm, Friday, February 9, 2001 at the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE, where family and friends may visit one-hour prior. Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery following the service.

Field, III, Leslie "Art"

Leslie A. (Art) Field, III, age 53, of Hockessin, DE died on Friday, February 2, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital, Newark.

Mr. Field most recently was a Manager and Officer at Citibank, New Castle, in their automated Clearing House and an Investigator in Global Clearing Services. Prior, for 20 years, he served as Director of Purchasing at Denney-Reyburn Company, West Chester, PA. He was elected an officer of that company in 1985. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and a member of their basketball team, Southwest Conference Champions between 1965 and 1969. He was a member of the Wilmington Ski Club, a coach for girls softball, an official umpire in the Interstate Umpire’s Association, and a qualified scuba diver for the National Association of Underwater Investigators.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (Palmer) Field of Hockessin, DE; his mother, Elizabeth Hood Field of Charleston, WV; a brother, John W. Field of Berwyn, PA;

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, on Tuesday evening at 7 pm where friends may visit after 5 pm. Interment will be on Thursday at 1 pm at the All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memoriy of his father may be sent to the Ingleside Care Center, 6525 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707.

Fields, Ruby Lee Staton

Ruby Lee Staton Fields, 65, of Laurel, Delaware, died Thursday, November 9, 2000 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital of cancer. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late George Elmer Staton and Florence Mae Banks Staton.

She is survived by her husband, John Mark Fields of Laurel; two sons, Keith Allen Fields and Kevin Mark Fields both of Laurel; two brothers: Rev. Lawrence Elmer Staton of Salisbury and George Washington Staton of Ocean City; one sister, Edith Frances Rainford of Edison, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Beulah Marie Brumbley and Pauline Emma Cantwell, and a brother, Lloyd William Staton.

Mrs. Fields was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She attended the former Peoples’ Missionary Church in Fruitland and the Church of the Nazarene in Laurel. She loved the Lord. She was a Sunday school and children’s church teacher and enjoyed singing in her church. In addition to singing in St. Andrew’s Church, she sang on the WBOC radio show, “Try Out Time” and the television program, “Way of the Cross.” She was a graduate of the class of 1954 from Wicomico Senior High School. Through the years, she was employed with Delmarva News, Commercial Credit, and Shoreland Freezers. She was a devoted mother and a homemaker.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 13, 2000, at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, 100 Walnut St, Laurel, Delaware. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Holloway Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Timothy Smith, the Rev. Joe Schiren, and the Rev. Lawrence Staton will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army, 400 Elmwood St., Salisbury, MD 21804 or the Church of the Nazarene, 100 Walnut St., Laurel, DE 19956.

Figueroa, David

David Figueroa of Baltusrol Road, Dover, DE, formerly of Somers Point, N.J. died on Friday, March 2, 2001. He was 38 years old.

Mr. Figueroa was born on February 6, 1963 in New York City, NY to Julio Figueroa and Juanita Noriega. He was a maintenance supervisor in Philadelphia for several years, until he became disabled. He created web pages and was a web master for web sites. He was a volunteer for AIDS organizations, and enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his mother, Juanita Noriega of New York City; a brother, Julio Figueroa of Ocean City, NJ; a sister, Marisol Figueroa of New York City, and his significant other, Ernie Davis of Dover, DE.

A Memorial Service will be held on the beach at Ocean City, NJ, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware HIV Consortium, 100 W. 10th Street, Wilmington, De. 19801.

Arrangements are by the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover, DE.
