Gentile, Elizabeth A.

Elizabeth A. (Klonowski) Gentile, 75, of Wilmington, died at her residence on Sunday, March 11, 2001.

Mrs. Gentile was a homemaker and a member of St. Hedwig’s Church. Before her marriage, Mrs. Gentile was one of the first women in Delaware to earn her real estate broker's license. She is predeceased by her first husband, Alexander M. Lux, Sr. in 1966, her son, Thomas J. Lux in 1968, and her second husband, Frank J. Gentile, Jr. in 1988.

She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine Cintron of Wilmington, Sandi Denney of Harbeson, DE, and Marion Veasey of Wilmington; three sons, David Lux, Sr. of Wilmington, Alexander M. Lux, Jr. of Texas City, TX, and Ronald W. Lux of New Castle; a brother, Thomas Klonowski of Utah; two sisters, Florence Halliday of New Castle, and Geraldine Casapulla of Hockessin; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Miss Ashley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 10:30 am at St. Hedwig’s Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington. Friends are invited to call on Thursday morning between 8 am to 10 am at Mealey Funeral Home, 703 N. Broom Street, Wilmington. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

George, Margaret C.

Margaret C. George of Dover, Delaware, formerly of Lewes, Delaware, died Tuesday February 6, 2001 in Westminster Village Health Center Dover, Delaware. She was 93. Mrs. George was born January 22, 1908 in Denton, Maryland, the daughter of the late Earl F. and Annie Satterfield Cooper. Mrs. George worked for the Speakman Company in Wilmington, Delaware for 20 years before retiring and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting antiques. Her husband, William H. George died in 1990. She is survived by 2 sons, William A. George of Newark, Delaware and Donald L. George of Smyrna, Delaware. 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Services will be Saturday February 10, 2001 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call 1 hour before services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901.

Gibney, Grace E.

Grace E. Gibney, age 89, of Rising Sun, MD died Monday January 22, 2001 at home. Mrs. Gibney was born on June 7, 1911 in Newport, PA, the daughter of the late Alfred P. & Clara Byers. Mrs. Gibney was a homemaker and a member of the Rosebank United Methodist Church and the Cecil County Farm Bureau. She is survived by three sons, James W. Gibney, Bryan A. Gibney, and George L. Gibney, all of Rising Sun; a daughter, Ruth B. Fulmer of Wilmington, DE; a sister, Helen Myers of Newport, PA; a sister in law, Mary Byers, of Duncannon, PA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bryan W. Gibney, who passed away in 1991, and a daughter, Mary Ann Logan, who passed away in 1985. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25th at R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. Burial will be at Rosebank Cemetery in Rising Sun, MD. Giffing, Mary R.

Mary R. Giffing, 81, of Eustis, FL died Sunday, March 18, 2001 at The Edgewater at Watermans Village Nursing Home in Mt. Dora, FL. Mrs. Giffing was born on March 4, 1920 in Conowingo, MD. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Eustis and an active member in the church circle. She was a former member of West Nottingham Presbyterian Church in Colora, MD. She is survived by a son, William R. Giffing of Mt. Dora, FL, formerly of Rising Sun, MD; 6 grandchildren, William R. Giffing, Jr., of Florida, Robert Giffing of Utah, Russell Giffing of Colorado, Jeffrey Giffing of New Mexico, Randy Giffing of North Carolina and Kim Fenner of Maryland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Giffing, who passed away in 1985. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 22, 2001 at R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Peach Bottom, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association/ALS or the American Cancer Society c/o funeral home.

Gilbert, Sadie

Sadie Gilbert, 84, GreenHill Ave., DOVER, DE passed away Monday September 11, 2000 at K.G.H. BAY HEALTH DOVER, DE Dover.

She was born on August 19, 1916 in Ridgley to Arthur and Emily (Boots) Biddle, Sr..

She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed driving her husband "Nick" to and from work and spending time with him at the movies as he worked there as the projectionist. She is the last of nine Biddle children..

She is survived by her Husband of 58 years, Francis "Nick" Gilbert of Dover, DE. Sister in Law, Frances Biddle of Felton, DE. BEST FRIEND FOREVE, Lillian Oldham of Dover, DE. , Several Neices & Nephews.

Remembrance Services will be held Thursday 09/14/2000 01:00 PM at TRADER FUNERAL HOME in DOVER, DE 19901 with the Rev. Ron WUEST officiating. Burial will be at the SHARON HILL MEMORIAL PARK Dover, DE.

Godesky, Phyllis C.
Phyllis Crowley Godesky, age 70, of Bridgeville died on Wednesday, February 07, 2001 at Genesis Elder Care Center in Seaford. Mrs. Godesky retired from Perdue Farms in Bridgeville. She then worked for Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Her husband, Frank H. Godesky died on April 27, 2000. She is survived by 3 sons, Norman Trader of Willards, MD, Larry Trader of Horntown, VA and Bruce Trader of Bridgeville, 3 daughters, Elaine Massey of Pittsville, MD, Susan and Amy Godesky Both of Bridgeville, 1 sister-in-law, Elva Crowley of Salisbury, MD. 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive her. Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 12th at Noon at The Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call from 11 to 12. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE. Goodwin, Daniel
DANIEL GOODWIN Age 98 of Milford died Saturday, March 10, 2001 of pneumonia in Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, DE. Mr. Goodwin was born October 14, 1902 in Sterling, Colorado, the son of the late Charles Leander and Martha Tidwell Goodwin, pioneers in the settlement of this community. He and his family moved to Bell, California in 1949. He retired December 1965 at the end of 45 years as a Letter Carrier, Parcel Postman and Supervisor in the U.S. Postal Service, serving in both Sterling, Colorado and Bell, California. Upon retirement, he and Mrs. Goodwin lived in Norwalk, Connecticut before moving to Milford in 1970. Retirement gave them the shared enjoyment of gardening and travel. Mr. Goodwin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Milford. He was Past Master of Sterling Lodge No. 54, A.F. & A.M., member of Sterling Chapter No. 47 and Sterling Commandery No. 35, York Rite of Free Masonry, Past Worthy Patron, Sterling Chapter 68, Order of Eastern Star, member of the Letter Carriers Association, a 24 year member of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Department, a Boy Scout Leader, and a volunteer First Aid Instructor with the American Red Cross during WWII. In Milford he was a member of the Milford Senior Center and of the Friends of the Milford Museum. Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Esther S. Goodwin; his brother, Leander Ray Goodwin; his sister, Irma P. Walraven; two brothers-in-law, Ray S. Sharman and Lester R. Sharman and two sisters-in-law; L. Irene McCarthy and Dixie K. Sharman. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Charles H. Burkhart of Milford; one grandson and his wife, Charles W. and Leigh Burkhart of Titusville, FL; two granddaughters and their families, Mary Lynn and James F. Salem, Matthew, Jennifer and Beth of Sunrise, FL and Ruth Ann and David R. Harrell, Sr., David, Jr., Amanda and Alexis of Margate, FL; two sisters-in-law, Lucille G. Sharman of Holyoke, CO and Billie P. Smith of San Diego, CA, one nephew, two great nieces, one great nephew, two great-great nieces and three great-great nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, March 14, 2001 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE, 19963.

Grieco, Florence L.
Florence L. Grieco, age 87, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Christiana Hospital.

Miss Grieco is survived by two brothers; James M. Grieco of Wilm and Eugene A. Grieco of St. Louis, MO as well as two sisters: Virginia Macko of Wilm and Beth Wavrenevich, of FL.

There will be no viewing. The funeral service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Rd. Wilm. DE 19808

Doris M. Grimm, 77, Nimitz Road, Dover, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2001 at Christina Hospital in Wilmington with family.

She was born on June 24, 1923 in Millville, NJ to John and Tillie (Coare) Young.

Mrs. Grimm servied in the US Army women Corp as a Tech 4 in the Medical Dept. she was a optholmoprosthetic Technician (she made plactic eyes). She is retered from Kreft Foods after 18 years. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling, photoraphy, needlework, and ceremaics. She is preeced in death by her husband Lawrence D. Grimm, Sr. Sister, Matilda Phifer Hughes, Brothers, John, Herbert, Norman, and David Young..

She is survived by Son, Lawrence Dale Grimm, Jr. of Dover, DE. Daughter, Bonnie Grimm Maloney of Greenwood, DE. Daughter, Donna M. Grimm of Dover, DE. Daughter, Pamela Grimm Forester of Lutherville, MD. Brother, Walter Young of New Castle, DE. Brother, Bob Young of , CO. Brother, Richard Young of , TX. Brother, Verna Brown of , NJ. 10 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchildren.

Remembrance Services will be held Sat. 03/31/2001 02:00 AM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE . Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Bear, DE.

Mark J. Grzybowski

Age 38 of Wilmington, DE died suddenly at his residence on Friday, March 9, 2001. Mark was the owner/operator of Woodcrest Construction Co. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a 1980 graduate of Wilmington High School. Mark is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jill Dougherty Grzybowski; his daughter, Amanda L. Grzybowski; and his parents, Stanley and Barbara Grzybowski, all of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by his aunt, Charlotte Grzybowski of Newark, DE; his uncle, John Nowasielski of Secane, PA; and his godmother, Ann Marie Rozenko of Wilmington, DE. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington on Wednesday, March 14 at 10 am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening, March 13 from 7-9pm at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek.

Hales, Robert Lee
Salisbury - Robert Lee “Buddy” Hales, 61, of Salisbury, died Monday, February 26,2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born, May 27,1939 in Salisbury he was the son of the late Marion F. and Viola Smullen Hales. His wife Jane L. Hales and two sisters Joyce Wagner and Jean Simms preceded him in death He is survived by four nephews; Kevin, Jay, Barry, and Brian Wagner all of Salisbury, four nieces; Marian Ann Kelly, Deana Williams, Christina Boyles all of Salisbury, and Joanne Simms of Laurel, MD, and several cousins, aunts, and uncles. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 2,2001 at 11:00 AM at Smullen Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main St. in Salisbury. The Rev. Sam McWilliams will officiate.

Hanley, Doris Trader
Doris T. Hanley, 92, Riggin Ridge Road, Ocean City, passed away Tuesday January 23, 2001 at HER HOME in Ocean City with her home companion Irma Bennett at her side.

She was born on November 04, 1908 in Berlin, MD to Oscar and Ada (Pruitt) Trader.

Mrs. Hanly was a life long member of Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin, MD and a member of Worcester Chapter No. 102 of the Easter Star. Mrs. Hanley and her husband Tom got their start managing an A & P store in Warsaw, VA. Then they operated a Firestone Tire Store and various commercial real estate interests in Milford, DE. They built and operated the Ocean Lodge in Ocen City, MD and Coral Reff Apts. in Deerfield Beach, FL. Her later years she has spent in her west Ocean City home. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas G. Hanley in 1981. Also four brothers Floyed F. Trader, Milton R. Trader, Alton Creston Trader, Roland P. Trader, and one sister Lola Virginia Trader. She is survived by one niece Jackie Flint and four nephews, James Trader, Winston Trader, Thomas Trader, and Ross Trader and there familes.

Celebration of life Services will be held Sat. 01/27/2001 12:00 PM at Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin, MD with Rev. Gary Baer officiating. Entombment will be at the Buckingham Cemetery Berlin, MD

Friends may also call Sat. 01/27/2001 11:00 AM to time of service at the Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin.

Hapke, Warren G.
WARREN G. HAPKE, of Dover, died Monday, February 26, 2001 in the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 71.

Mr. Hapke was born July 5, 1929 in Nebraska.

Mr. Hapke was a U.S. Airforce veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked as a superintendent load master for the Airforce until his retirement in 1977 after 26 years of service.

He was a Life Member of the Walter L. Fox American Legion Post #2 of Dover. He enjoyed doing leather work.

He is survived by his wife: Fumi Hapke; 2 daughters: Gayle Scarpone of Wilmington, Linda Hapke of Abita Springs, Louisiana; 2 brothers: Beryl Hapke of , , 3 sisters: Shirley Houlteren of Freemount, Nebraska, Beverly Ahern of Nebraska, Sylvia Pebus of Rockford, Illinois; and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday, March 2, 2001 in the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Viewing will be held Thursday evening in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover from 7-9:00 p.m. with the Walter L. Fox American Legion Post #2 performing services at 8:00 p.m.
