Jandak, Jr., Benedict J.
Benedict J. Jandak, Jr. of Federalsburg died on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at Easton Memorial Hospital. He was 78. He was born on October 20, 1922 in New York City, New York the son of the late Benedict J. Jandak, Sr. and Marie Jandak.
He was a veteran of WW II serving in the United States Marines from 1942 to 1945, and later retired from Gruman Aircraft as a mechanical draftsman in New York.
He is survived by his companion of over 22 years, Mildred Lord of Federalsburg, a daughter, Jennifer Jandak of Saulislita, CA, two sons: John Jandak of Parachute, CO, and David Jandak of Harrington, DE, and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2000 at 1:00p.m. at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery, Federalsburg. Friends may call the Funeral Home from 7-9p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 12-1:00p.m.
Johnson, Paul "Toby" L.
Paul “Toby” L. Johnson of Townsend, Delaware, died peacefully at home, Wednesday November 22, 2000. He was 66. Mr. Johnson was born in Delaware, October 14, 1934 the son of the late Hazel and Esther Manlove Johnson. Mr. Johnson worked as a small engine/tractor mechanic for Clements Supply Company in Clayton, Delaware for several years before retirement. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, cheering on Dale Earnhardt. He was a member of the Blackbird Micro Midget Racing Club as well as Airport Speedway where he had been building and racing his own cars for 41 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Johnson and Robert Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emma Jean Shane Johnson 1 son and daughter-in-law, Ricky L. and Kelly Johnson of Middletown, Delaware. 3 daughters, Deborah J. and her husband Matthew F. O’Brien of Middletown, Delaware; Donna L. and her husband Russell Brown of Middletown, Delaware and Michelle L. Johnson of Blackbird, Delaware. 2 brothers, Richard Johnson of Dover, Delaware and Stanley Johnson of Blackbird, Delaware. 2 sisters, Hazel Carlson of Smyrna, Delaware and Virginia Seymore of Hartly, Delaware. 11 Grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Katie, Charles, Russell, Colleen, Todd, Sara, Ricky, Shelby, Allie and many nieces, nephews, cousins, bothers and sisters-in-law and many friends. Services will be Tuesday November 28, 2000 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.
Jones, Ernest C.
Ernest C. Jones, 86, of Ocean City, died Friday, November 10, 2000 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Beaver Creek, MD, he was the son of the late Roy Benjamin Jones and Corrie Viola Harp. His wife, Frances Elizabeth Jones is deceased.
Mr. Jones was a World War II Army veteran who served for 9 years and was a Tech Sergeant. He lived most of his life in Baltimore and worked for Motor Freight Express as a mechanic, retiring in 1972. He moved to Ocean City after retirement in 1983. He was a life member of VFW Post 8296 in Ocean City. He was an avid fisherman. For many years he spent many mornings with friends at Dunk In Donuts on 120th street in Ocean City.
He is survived by a daughter, Pauline Romanowski of Ocean City; two sons: John Jones Ocean City, MD and Frederick Jones of York, PA; one grandchild, Alicia Baldwin of Baltimore; two great-grandchildren: Gregory Harris and Kathleen Harris both of Baltimore; two sisters, Mildred Domer of Hagerstown and Pauline Thompson of Sarasota, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock, MD.

Kane, May B.
May B. Kane, 82, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Chesapeake City, MD died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Manor Care Pike Creek in Wilmington. Mrs. Kane was a homemaker and a manager of the Chesapeake City Elementary School Cafeteria during the 1950’s and 1960’s. She was a member of the Associated Bible Students, Wilmington and Chesapeake City Ecclesia. She is survived by her son and his wife, James M. & Rella Kane of Newark, DE; a daughter and her husband, Joan K. & Joe Murphy of Elkton, MD; two brothers, William Briscoe of Galena, MD and Frank Briscoe of Milford, DE; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris J. Kane, Jr, who passed away in 1987; and her parents, Frank H. & Florence Briscoe. Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 9, 2001 at R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915 where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation c/o the funeral home.
Katzer, Charles
Charles Katzer of Dover died on Sunday, March 11, 2001 at Kent General Hospital. He was 87 years old. Mr. Katzer was born April 12, 1913 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Stevan and Juliana Cerasz Katzer. He attended schools in Smyrna and Hartly, and graduated from John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1931. He served as a Major in the U.S. Army during World War II, in Africa and Italy in the 360th Battery B of the 5th Army. He served in Japan during the Korean War and retired as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force in 1961 with 30 years of active service. He received the Bronze Star medal during service in World War II.
His hobbies were building grandfather clocks, oil painting, and flower gardening.
Mr. Katzer is survived by his wife, Anne H. Katzer of Dover, De.; a daughter, Karen Lynn Callender of Nashville, Tn.; a son, David L. Katzer of Rural Hall, NC;, sisters, Anne Schneider of Buena Vista, Ca, Martha Morgan of Lewes, De., Also surviving is his granddaughter, Britt Green; 4 grandsons, Wilburn D. Callender III, Trent Callender, Alan T. Katzer, and Douglas Katzer, and 2 great-granddaughters, Hannah Green and Alexis Samples.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Schueler and a brother, Steven Snyder.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 15th at 2 PM at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 South Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday, March 21st at 3 PM.
Kaye, Ruth L.
Ruth “Woodruff” Kaye of Magnolia died on Saturday, March 24th, at home. She was 55 years old.
Mrs. Kaye was born on August 18, 1945 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late E. Kermit and Eleanor Kennedy Giles.
She had worked as a receptionist for the law office of Gary Dodge. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God in Milford.
She is survived by her husband, David J. Kaye, of Magnolia; two daughters, Cara J. Woodruff of Dover and Wendi L. Harmon and her husband, Joel, of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; and a sister, Marian L. Byrnes and her husband, Lawrence, of Goshen, Indiana.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God, 214 South Walnut Street, Milford, De.19963 on Thursday, March 29th at 7 PM.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God, or to O.M.S. International, Box A, Greenwood, In. 46142.

Keefer, Frank J.
Frank J. Keefer of Smyrna, Delaware, died Saturday January 27, 2001 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. He was 73. Mr. Keefer was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey September 17, 1927. He worked as a truck driver for several years and later as a floral delivery person for Garden State Florist in Vineland, New Jersey. He was a former member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Errickson Keefer. He is survived by his companion, Madeline Wardell with whom he lived; 3 sons, James, Frank and Alex Keefer all of Absecon, New Jersey 3 daughters, Joann Keefer of Absecon, New Jersey; Joyce Tarapilli of Las Vegas, Nevada; Katherine Lee of Norfolk, Virginia; 16 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors, Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.
Kegan, Louise Kidd
Louise Kidd Kegan, 92, of Oxford, died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at William Hill Manor Health Care Center in Easton, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Jackson and Emma Cathell Kidd. Her husband, William A. Kegan died in 1991.
Mrs. Kegan graduated from Baltimore Friends School and attended Pinehurst Manor. She was a resident of Talbot County for over 40 years. During that time she served as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Easton and as a volunteer and member of the Board of Trustees at the Oxford Library in Oxford, Md. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed boating and reading.
She is survived by two daughters, Susanne K. Nuttle of Chestertown, and Martha K. Graham of Salisbury; two sons, J. Burgess Kegan of Neavitt, MD and Bill Kegan of Princess Anne, MD; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held Monday, November 20, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Oxford, MD. The Rev. Rod Brown will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Mrs. Kegan’s name be made to the Oxford Library at Morris and Market Sts., Oxford, MD 21654; or the Oxford Fire and Rescue Dept., Oxford, MD 21654.
Kelley, Janet L.
Janet L. Kelley Age 64 of Salisbury, MD died February 10, 2001 in the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, MD. Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul H. Kelley who died in 1993. She is survived by her mother, Anna Marcella Alexander of North East, MD, her daughters, Dianne L. Zahn, of Salisbury, MD, Carol A.K. Gadola of Wilmington, DE and Theresa M. Kelley of Salisbury; 4 brothers, John and Orville Potts, both of Elkton, MD, Gerald Potts of Rising Sun, MD and Vaughn Potts of Elkton; a sister, Sandra K. Alexander of Earlville, MD and 3 grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Gadola and Alicia Zahn, all at home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Friday, February 16, 2001 at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, E. Main St., Newark, DE. Visitation will be 9am at the ROBERT T. Joseph J. Kelly, Jr.
Age 73, of Newark DE, passed away peacefully in his home on February 2.
He was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from West Catholic High School and attended Weber State University in Ogden UT. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre as part of the Navy’s UDT (Underwater Demolition Team). UDT was the precursor to the modern day Navy Seals. He was the Art director at Thiokol Chemical Corporation from 1960-70, then became a self-employed graphic designer from 1971-82. He spent 10 years in the graphic arts department at DuPont Louviers before retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Three Little Bakers Country Club. Joe was an accomplished artist skilled in both commercial and fine arts.
He is survived by his wife of 51years Dorothy (DiCampli) Kelly, sons Joseph Kelly of Las Vegas NV, Dean Kelly of Mullica Hill NJ, David Kelly of Newark, daughters June McCoy of Newark, Deborah Kelly of Wilmington, Stacy Reynolds of Newark, sister Eileen Pace of Philadelphia; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorial service will take place at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 7.

Kerrigan, Marie A.
Marie A. Kerrigan, 84, lifelong Wilmington resident, died at Kentmere Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2001.
Miss Kerrigan joined the Nurse Corps in 1944, promising to serve in combat areas during World War II, if needed. She graduated from nurse’s training in 1947 and went to California to assist in the polio epidemic. Returning to Wilmington, she worked in general nursing for Wilmington hospitals and later as a surgical nurse for Dr. Edmund Laird. Miss Kerrigan began to teach surgical nursing at Delaware Hospital Nursing. It was during this time that she returned to college and completed her BS degree in Nursing in 1970 at age 54.
She taught at Wilmington School of Nursing until her retirement in 1981. After her retirement, Miss Kerrigan assisted in the establishment of a health care facility in the Adams Four area to serve needy patients. Her memberships included the Delaware State Nurses Association and the Academy of Lifelong Learning, and she was a Delaware Hospital Alumnus.
Miss Kerrigan is survived by her sister, Helen Kerrigan of Wilmington, and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 10:30 am at Christ Our King R.C. Church, 28th & Madison Streets, Wilmington where friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment will be at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2306 Kirkwood Hwy. Wilmington, DE 19805.
