Burger, Virginia Ethel
Virginia Ethel Laramore Burger of Dover died Sunday, September 26, 2010 in her home surrounded by family and supported by her Delaware Hospice staff. She was 89.
Mrs. Burger was born January 4, 1921 in Denton, Maryland, daughter of the late Whitall and Ethel Laramore of Greensboro, Maryland.
Virginia "Ginny" graduated from Greensboro High School in Maryland. After graduating from Banks College in Philadelphia, she moved to Dover, Delaware. She was a legal secretary for Judge Storey and Governor Bacon. On December 6, 1941 she married John H. Burger of Dover who preceded her in death in 2005.
Ginny enjoyed boating on their boat the "Virginia B", playing cards at the country club, traveling and entertaining family and friends at their lakeside home.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward Laramore and brother-in-laws Robert Burger, Frank Casson and Ralph Spears.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bobbi and Robert Novak of Virginia, Patricia Velvel of Dover and William E. Velvel of Wilmington and Connie Burger of Dover,, a loving granddaughter, Stefanie Paige Velvel of Dover, three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law Mrs. Peg Spean of Georgia, Jean and Robert Wertz of Wilmington, Mrs. Betty Casson of Wilmington, Mrs. Betty Laramore of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services are private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Egger, Ron
Ron Egger of Camden passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Kent General Hospital, Dover with his wife at his side. He was 67.
Ron was born on November 28, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late Maurice and Clara (Engel) Egger.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam.
Ron was self-employed as a computer consultant for 15 years.
He loved to travel especially to Mexico. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for his friends, trivia and building furniture. He also was an avid Cincinnati Bearcats fan.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of seven years Jeanne Egger, a son Brian Egger of Chicago, IL, a stepson Gabriel Percich of Hartly, three sisters Jackie Egger of Chicago, IL, Pam Jenkins of Loveland, Ohio and Debbie Johnson of Sharonville, Ohio, a brother Michael Horner and his wife Mary Grace of Racine, Wisconsin,, mother-in-law Estelle Laroche of Allenstown, NH and a sister-in-law Pauline Laroche of Allenstown, NH, his two faithful companions Charlee and Oliver and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Christiana Care, Bayhealth-Kent General and Pinnacle Rehab for the wonderful care they gave Ron during his time there.
Service will be 11 am Wednesday, September 29 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will be at 2 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
Beiler, Darlene E
Darlene E. Beiler, of CAMDEN, DE, passed away in her
parents home, September 21, 2010. She was 40. Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she was able to die peacefully, looking forward to entering her eternal home in Heaven.
Darlene was born in Chestertown, MD, and grew up in Kent County, MD
before moving to Delaware in 1998.
She graduated from Philadelphia College of Bible in 1993, and for many years
worked in her family's business. Prior to her illness, Darlene was a nursing major
in the University of Delaware's Accelerated Nursing Program.
Darlene loved music and children, and for a number of years she taught music &
piano lessons to preschool children in the Dover area. She was greatly appreciated
for her talent as a church pianist.
Darlene was known for her cheerful personality and her gift of encouragement.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her stillborn brother- Joseph Lee Beiler in 1977.
She is survived by her parents: John & Shirley (Smoker) Beiler, of Camden,DE;
2 Brothers: Clayton & LeVerne Beiler, both of Camden; her paternal
Grandmother- Katie (Stoltzfus) Beiler, of Lancaster, PA, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11 am in the
Faith Community Church, 2240 South DuPont Highway, Camden. The viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the same location.
Burial will follow the funeral in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Wiest, Hazel Workman
Hazel Workman Wiest of Milford passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 94.
Hazel was born on August 26, 1916 in Frankford, Delaware, daughter of the late John and Lydia (Hudson) McGee.
She had worked in several sewing factories many years ago, and also at I.L.C. in Frederica where she did sewing on the spacesuits supplied to NASA.
Hazel hobbies included working in her yard where she would tend to her flowers, crocheting, doing needlepoint, sewing and making her own clothes.
She is also preceded in death by her two husbands Preston Workman in 1954 and John Weist in 1984, two sons Fred and Beverly Workman and a sister Hester Townsend.
Hazel is survived by a son Raymond Workman of Milford, three daughters Elizabeth Payton of Felton, Virginia Roop of Milford and Hester Farrell of Frederica, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 23 at the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.

Fry, Irene M.
Irene M. Fry of Harrington passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 in the Westminster Health Center, Dover surrounded by her loving family. She was 77.
She was born on June 29, 1933 in Harrington, Delaware.
Irene's life was her family and she will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and mom-mom. She was a good cook and was known for her special dishes, especially her chicken salad and fried chicken.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Fry, devoted daughter Helen Todd and her husband Clifford, two loving granddaughters Kimberly Pippin and her husband William, Rebecca Dill and her husband Gregory and two special great grandchildren Kailyn and Kelden Pippin and baby Dill due in April all of Harrington.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22 in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
