Dolby, Jr., Thomas

DOVER - Thomas Dolby, Jr. of Dover passed away July 25, 2010 in his home.

He was born on October 19, 1936 in Raleigh, NC, son of the late Adlaide (Lewis) and Thomas Dolby, Sr.

Thomas served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force for 23 ½ years retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant.

He was a member of the American Legion, Dover.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years Jane (Hill) Dolby, a son Thomas Dolby and his wife Jennifer of Smyrna, siblings Percy Dolby and Dorothy Callier both of Pittsburg, PA and two grandchildren Cierra Dolby and Mykaela Dolby.

Service of committal with full military honors will be held Thursday, July 29, at 11am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dover AFB Museum Foundation, 301 Heritage Rd., Dover AFB, DE 19902.

Betts, Sallie Anne

Sallie Anne Betts, 61, of Dover passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 in her home.

She was born on May 31, 1949 in Monroe, Louisiana, daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Weems) Sudduth.

Sallie worked many years for Dover Hardware.

She is survived by two children Kelli Weidlein and her husband David of Harrington and Trey Betts and his wife Christy of Camden, two grandchildren Madison and Ian and a brother Kip Sudduth of Arizona.

A memorial service will be 11:00 am Friday, July 30 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Heart Association, 200 Continental Dr., Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.

Sipple, Jr., Nathan

Nathan Sipple, Jr., 75, of Wyoming died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at home. He was with his loving family by his side.

Nathan was born on November 6, 1934 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, the son of the late Nathan Sipple Sr., and Beatrice Sipple.

He owned and operated Sipples Used Cars since 1949 and Sipples Auto Sales in Harrington since 1997. His three sons worked by his side, making it a family run business. It was also a gathering place for many friends who loved to stop by and chat. He was a man very devoted to his business and spent many hours at a place he loved.

Nathan was also proceeded in death by two children Wayne Sipple in 2007 and Debra Sipple in 2004, and also his special aunt, Florence Melvin in 1991.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years Linda of Wyoming, his two sons David Sipple of Wyoming, Nathan E. Sipple and his companion Jessica Sarratt of Wyoming, step-daughter Allyson Hemphill of Dover, brother-in-law Warren Petri of Dover, two grandchildren Lauren E. Sipple and Nathan H. Sipple and his three loving dogs, Misty, Angel and Rascal.

Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, July 28 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Debbie's Fund, c/o Felton Bank, 698A North DuPont Hwy., Milford, DE 19963. Donations are for the rescue and care of abandoned animals at the SPCA.

Lane, James A.

James A. Lane, 75, of Dover passed away July 22, 2010 at Christiana Hospital.

He was born on February 9, 1935 in Kenton, Delaware, son of the late Ralph and Elva (teat) Lane.

James served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for Willis Chevrolet as a mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Deborah Lane, four children Carol Lane of Kansas, Wanda Ramsey, Denise Lane both of Wilmington and Amy Paterson of Dover, two sisters Vivian Moffett of Dover and Alberta Allen of North East, MD, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 pm Friday, July 30 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934 to help with expenses.

McKinnon, Frank P.

Frank P. McKinnon, 68, of Marydel passed away Monday, July 19 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 13, 1941 in Chester, PA.

Frank had worked for George and Lynch as a flagman.

He was a dedicated life member of the Marydel Fire Company for 32 years and a member of the Kent County Fire Police Association. He also was a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge.

Frank enjoyed fishing, tinkering on lawn mowers and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Kathryn McKinnon, a daughter Renee, a son Charles, brothers Elmer and Robert, sisters Mary, Marie and Doris and a granddaughter Christine Cumens.

He is survived by a son Robert E. (Skeeter) Melvin of Henderson, MD, daughters Kathy M. (Cookie) Melvin of Marydel and Tammy Miller of Hartly, grandchildren Tracy Nye and her husband Jim, Mary Nechay, Robert (Skeet) Melvin and Charles Melvin, great grandchildren Renee Cumens, Paulaina Nechay, Brianna Williams, Twyla Nye, Kristopher Nechay, Erik Melvin, Seven Nye, Sideris Nye and two great great grandchildren Gavin Manning and Kris Nechay, Jr.

Services will be 12 noon Thursday, July 22 at the Marydel Fire House, 110 Firehouse Lane, Marydel, DE where friends may gather two hours earlier.

Burial with fireman's honors will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Marydel Fire Company, P.O. Box 400, Marydel, DE 19964.

Schimmelman, James E.

James E. Schimmelman, 67, passed away July 18 in his home.

He was born on April 4, 1943, son of the late Arthur and Antonia (Meltzer) Schimmelman.

James served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a machinist for Playtex.

He enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and was a ham radio operator.

James is preceded in death also by his son James Arthur.

He is survived by his wife Jean Schimmelman, six children John E. Purpura, James R. Purpura, Jennifer M. Schimmelman-Harman, Joseph D. Schimmelman, Joshua P. Schimmelman and Alison Noyce, a brother Arthur E. Schimmelman, 15 grandchildren and a special cousin Dick Cutler.

Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Friday, July 23 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Camden Bible Fellowship Church.
