Rowley, Frances Lynn

Frances Lynn Rowley, 54, of Dover went home to be with her Lord on Sunday March 21, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

She was born on March 8, 1956 in Dover, Delaware.

Frances had worked in food service for the Capital School District.

She was a member of Capitol Baptist Church, Dover. She also was an avid NASCAR fan.

Frances is preceded in death by her mother Clara Polito and father Martin Pryor

Frances is survived by her husband of 33 years of John J. Rowley, Jr., her stepfather Kelly Polito of Smyrna, a son John T. Rowley and his wife Kim of Dover, a daughter Dana Schewe and her husband Dan of North East, MD, grandchildren Johnny and Jared Rowley, Emma and Nick Schewe, four brothers Mike Pryor and his wife Cheryl of Smyrna, Bob Pryor and his wife Karen of PA, Ron Pryor and his wife Theresa of Smyrna, and Dave Pryor and his wife Lanell of Smyrna, two sisters Sharon Pryor and Kelly Polito both of Smyrna, sister-in-law Sharon Schmittinger and her husband Stephen of Dover, brother-in-law Mark Rowley and his wife Betty of Georgia and her beloved pet American Bulldog Ko-Jo.

Services will be 11 am Thursday, March 25, at the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover, DE 19904.

Minner, Dorothy

Dorothy Minner, of Camden, DE, passed away March 20, 2010 in her home at the age of 97. She was born July 8, 1912 in Felton, DE, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Roe) Minner.

Dot, as she was always known, was raised on a farm located between Felton and Canterbury and attended Canterbury Church along with her eight brothers and sisters. She worked very hard in school and graduated from the new Felton High School in 1930 as the Valedictorian of her class. She then enrolled at the Women's College of the University of Delaware graduating in 1932. Her first teaching position was at the Odessa Elementary School. She continued in that position for nine years after which she accepted another elementary teaching position at the Alfred I. DuPont School in Wilmington.

She pursued further education earning her Bachelor's Degree and advanced degrees from the University of Delaware enabling her to become principal of the A.I. DuPont School, a position she held for fifteen years before retiring in 1972. During the span of 40 years working in the education field, Dot was always known as a popular, but very stern teacher and administrator. Following her retirement, she moved to Camden and with the assistance of relatives and caregivers, she was able to remain there until her death. She enjoyed playing bridge weekly with friends in their homes and at the Harrington Senior Center, going to the slots and watching television especially the game shows. Over the years, she traveled extensively to many places including Europe, Hawaii and Thailand. She was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Lawrence Minner, William Marvel and Howard Williams, sisters Pearl Beideman, Agnes Sipple, Helen Pyott Houston, Anna Biggs and Pauline Morgan, nieces Betty Bergstrom, Shirley Hairgrove and Clara Fish, nephews Howard Williams, Jr. and Donald Sipple and also her longtime friend and companion Carl Prettyman.

She is survived by her nieces Ruth Ann Beideman, Katherine Roberts and Virginia Hurd and her husband of Milford, R. Marie Moore of Felton, Connie K. Morgan of Houston and Ingrid Bogan and her husband Dr. Craig Bogan of Wyncote, PA as well as nephews Ronald Sipple and his wife Margaret of Bridgeville, William Sipple and his wife Joyce of Viola, George Beideman and his wife Pat of Slaughter Beach, Jay Biggs and his wife Betty of Greenwood and Larry Sipple and his wife Connie of Milford.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to her special caregiver, Debbie Howard.

Funeral services will be held at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming on Wednesday, March 24 at 12:00 noon with a viewing to be held one hour earlier. Burial will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Lotus Plaza, Dover, DE 19901.

Jones, Franklin Webb

Franklin Webb Jones of Dover passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. He was 67. He was born on August 9, 1942 in Dover, Delaware, son of the late Franklin L. and Martha (Webb) Jones.

Frank graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1960 and the University of Delaware in 1965. He worked for 40 years in the banking industry, retiring in 2003 from the Wilmington Trust Company.

Frank was a life long music lover and proudly played the tuba in the CR and UofD marching bands, the 287th Army National Guard band and the Milford Community Band. Frank was also an avid collector of toy trains; member of the Train Collectors Association, Toy Train Operating Society, and the Lionel Collector's Club of America for over 35 years. Frank had been a member and past President of the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company, a professional auctioneer and was accomplished in mechanical clock repair.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Caroline (Woodruff) Jones, a daughter Cheryl L. Jones of Dover, a son Franklin L. Jones II and his wife Tina of Middletown, DE, grandchildren, Sydney Renee Jones and Tyler Franklin Wayne Jones; a sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Dennis Williams of Dover; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Jo Ann and Wayne Kulhanek, Pamela S. and Thomas Stemphoski , Tamara L. and Ernesto Ballesteros, James I. and Debra Woodruff; 18 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 6-8 pm Wednesday, March 17 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 1 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, DE Chapter, Two Mill Road, Suite 106 Wilmington, DE 19806 or the American Diabetes Association 100 West 10th Street Suite 1002 Wilmington, Delaware 19801.

Kusner, Joel Stanley

The gentle, loving spirit that was Joel Kusner left this world on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was 76 years old.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 14, 1933, Joel was the eldest son of Ben and Pauline Kusner. After graduating from Case Western Reserve, he began a lifelong career in the drapery industry and eventually owned and operated Dynamic Draperies in Dover, DE until his retirement in 2007. Joel was respected and admired by his many business associates and customers for his ethics, business acumen, and willingness to help in any situation.

Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne DeFlavio Kusner, son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Stephanie Stachoni of Bear, DE; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Bill Tice of Shreveport, LA, his adored grandchildren, Bennett and Ella Tice of Shreveport; a brother and sister-in-law, Lou and Barbara Kusner of Cleveland, OH, three nephews, Jack, Peter, and Chad Kusner and their families of Cleveland, OH; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeanne and Cecil Holtschneider of Accident, MD; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Cynthia DeFlavio of Ligonier, PA, and a sister-in-law Johnette Boyd of Ligonier, PA and their families. He will be missed by a host of cherished friends whom he considered part of his family and by Doc, his much-loved rescue dog. Joel, Dianne, and Doc were a familiar sight at Brecknock Park on their early morning walks. He was an avid fisherman and his most relaxing times were spent with brother-in-law Cecil on Deep Creek Lake.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center on March 20, 2010 from noon till 3 p.m. Please join us to remember Joel.

Donation in Joel's name may be made to the Kent County S.P.C.A or to Mom's House in Dover.

Kline, Patricia Ann

Patricia Kline, 46, of Harrington passed away Mon., March 8, 2010.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1964 in Milford, Delaware, daughter of the late Brice and Florence (Voshell) Hilton.

Patricia was working for Liberty Tax Service. She was an avid reader and was a very loving, motherly person.

She is survived by two children Jason Kline of Dover and Patience Kline of Cheswold, two sisters Deborah Garritson of Camden and Barbara Robinson, a brother Randy Hilton and a grandchild Abigail Ellingsworth-Kline.

Services are private.

Miller, Mahlon

Mahlon E. Miller, 79, of Dover passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 in his home.

He was born May 20, 1930 in Dover, Delaware, son of the late Sarah (King) and Eli Miller.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Lydia I. (Yoder) Miller, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law.

He is survived by his wife Sarah S. (King) Miller, 13 children Mary Ann Beachy and her husband Danny of Burke, NY, Raymond Miller and his wife Katie of Marion, KY, William Miller and his wife Alta of Burke, NY, Homer Miller and his wife Lydia of Dover, Sarah Byler and her husband Simon of Dover, Elizabeth Byler and her husband Joe of Oblong, IL, Eli Miller and his wife Frieda of Dover, Laura Mae Byler and her husband Lester of Dover, Henry Miller and his wife Cora of Marion, KY, Allen Miller and his wife Emma of Burke, NY, Johnny Miller and his wife Eva of Dover, Mahlon Miller and his wife Lydia Ann of Richfield Springs, NY and Lena Hershberger and her husband Abner of Wyoming, 88 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, two brothers Sam of Ashland, OH and William of Wyoming, a sister Anna Detweiler of Dover, two sisters-in-law Effie Miller of Wyoming and Alta Miller of Hartly.

Services will be 9:00 am Wednesday, March 10 at the family residence, 815 Nault Rd., Dover. Burial will follow in the Amish Cemetery, Dover.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Wagner, Casey Ann

Casey Ann Wagner, 24, of Hartly died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Thursday, March 4, 2010.

She was born on November 9, 1985 in Atlantic City, NJ.

Casey currently was a student and a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Krayer on July 1, 2002.

Casey is survived by her husband of four months Anthony S. Wagner, her mother Diane Krayer of Hartly, two sisters, her twin Tracey Wessell and her husband Chris of Townsend, and Jennifer Morris and her husband Timothy of Clayton, and an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Service will be 12 noon Wednesday, March 10 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours before service. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
