Harris, Gordon Garnet

Gordon Garnet Harris was born in January 21, 1965, to the late Benjamin P. Harris (Phillip) and Norma Jean Robinson (Harris) Hayes in Dover, Delaware and was called home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2010.

Gordon attended West Dover Elementary School and continued his education in the Caesar Rodney School District. He enlisted in the National Guard and later transferred into the U.S. Army. Gordon labored at various jobs, but found his passion in the culinary arts. He later completed his education and received his certification in the culinary arts from Polytech School in Woodside, DE. He enjoyed creating masterpieces at Applebee's and the Olive Garden in the Dover area.

Gordon married Lorraine Hanzer on November 20, 2000. Gordon had two children, Gordon and Sharnet, from a previous union.

Gordon "Gee Money"/ "Chef BoyarGee" was an intelligent, outgoing, fun-spirited person who had many interests and hobbies. He loved to create succulent dishes and he was quite proud of his barbequing skills, most especially his ribs, whether they were dry rub or cooked in his special barbeque sauce. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing and could serve a mean gumbo that would make your mouth water and leave you wanting more. Gordon's favorite team was the Philadelphia Eagles. There probably was not a more passionate fan in the area than he.

Gordon was an avid reader; his interests covered a broad spectrum of topics. He rededicated his life to Christ, and added the Bible to his favorite readings. He liked reading from Psalms. His favorite gospel song was, "Something About the Name, Jesus."

Gordon is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Harris, his paternal grandparents, William and Beatrice Harris, and his maternal grandparents, Monroe and Zelda Robinson. Left to mourn him are his wife, Lorraine Harris, two children, Gordon Summers of Middletown, and Sharnet Summers of Kansas, two grandchildren, Gordon Jr. and Kah'lier Summers, his mother Norma Jean Hayes of Milford, three sisters, Bridget Harris of Dover, Angelique Harris of Felton, Deidre Harris of Roswell, GA, one brother Wesly Harris, a stepbrother Homer Readores, and his stepmother, Salvadora Harris, all of Magnolia. Among the host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, Gordon leaves behind to mourn a special aunt, Sharlene Dial of Lincoln.

Gordon will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 23rd at noontime at the Union Missionary Baptist Church in Dover, followed by services at 1PM.

Rash, Barbara V.

Barbara V. Rash of Wyoming passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 84.

Barbara was born on July 25, 1926 in Dover, Delaware daughter of the late Gooden and Elizabeth (Reed) Voshell.

She had worked for the State of Delaware as a school bus driver.

Barbara will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Red Hatters and enjoyed line dancing until her health declined.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years William C. Rash in 1995.

Barbara is survived by her son Mikel W. Rash and his wife Anita of Dover and a daughter Jill R. Knight and her husband Robert E. of Magnolia, four grandchildren Amanda MacDonald, Jessica Rash, Sara Knight, Joshua Knight and a great grandson Travis MacDonald and a brother Richard Voshell of Summerville, SC.

Services will be 2 pm Monday, December 20 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Hudson, Sr., Henry L.

Henry L. Hudson, Sr. of Felton, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice House, Milford. He was 74.

Henry was born on July 16, 1936 in Louisville, KY, son of the late James and Tona (Fitzpatrick) Hudson.

He served his country proudly in the U. S. Marines and was honorably discharged.

Henry moved to Delaware when General Foods moved from New York state. He worked there until his retirement, 37 years later.

He was a member of the Elks of Dover, the Moose Lodge of Harrington and the VFW of Dover. He enjoyed collecting antiques and going to the Harrington and Dover slots.

Henry is also preceded in death by two brothers James, Stewart, a sister Barbara, and a step granddaughter Sammie Newton.

He is survived by three sons Henry L. Hudson, Jr. and his wife Linda of Felton, Jeffery A. Hudson and his wife Beth of Felton and Timothy W. Hudson and his wife Tacy of Johnson City, TN, grandchildren Heaven Jackson, Zoe Hudson, Rachael, Jeffery, Joel and Adam Hudson, step daughters Lisa Hutson, Abbey Masten and Christine Mosley, step son Andrew Courtney, step grandchildren Cassidy Courtney, Carlee Courtney and Faith Farrell, two brothers Farrell Hudson of TX and Lewis Hudson of NY and a sister Marlien Burke of CA and many friends.

A memorial service will be 1 pm Saturday, December 18, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Burial will be at a later date in New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Rd., Milford, DE 19963.

Rigo, John V.

John V. Rigo passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 82.

John was born on December 24, 1927 in New York City, NY, son of the late Augustin and Juana Enrique.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. His working career included watch repair and working at AT&T Bell Labs. He loved woodworking, especially making toy rocking horses.

John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marydel Council, and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth J. Rigo, six children Diane Renna and her husband Peter of Franklin, NJ, Cynthia Morofsky and her husband Barry of Coral Springs, FL, Paul Spinella and his companion Maureen Haggerty of Rahway, NJ, Dianne Profetto and her husband Dan of Jackson, NJ, Lisa Burke and her husband Mike of Vienna, VA and Denise Michael and her husband Rich of Parsippany, NJ, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday, December 19 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Monday, December 20 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th St. Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Johnson, Christopher

Christopher Johnson, 48, went home to be with the Lord after a short stay at Kent General Hospital.

He resided at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna.

Christopher is preceded in death by his father Grandville Johnson, Sr., a sister Victoria Johnson Jarvis, brothers Michael, Keenan and twin Charlie Johnson all of Montclair, NJ.

He is survived by his mother Ruth Phyliss Lawrence of Dover, two sisters Valarie Johnson of Orange, NJ, Stephanie Freeman and her husband Rev. Anthony Freeman of Dover, two brothers Grandville and Bruce Lawrence of Newark, N, two sisters-in-law Angie Johnson and Patsy Johnson both of Montclair, NJ and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, December 16 at the First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 6 Miles Lane, Camden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Barbour, Alladeen

Alladeen Barbour passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at her daughter's home. She was 76.

Alladeen was born on December 1, 1934 in Clintwood, VA, daughter of the late George and Edna (Mooney) Rose.

She had worked for 25 years at Christiana Hospital before retiring in 1996. Alladeen was a devoted mother and grandmother. The joy of her life was her six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Alladeen is survived by her children Sharon Roberts and her husband Dr. Bill Roberts of Magnolia, Robert Barbour of Camden-Wyoming and Sheryl Stafford and her husband Michael Stafford of New Castle, two sisters Wilma Bartley and Peggy Smith and a brother Gary Rose all of Abingdon, VA.

A memorial service will be held on Sat. Dec 18th at 1:00 PM at New Life Family Worship Center 226 Worship Lane, Camden DE.

Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
