Florence Campbell Vazquez

Florence Campbell Vazquez, age 85 of Dagsboro, DE, died July 5, 2009, surrounded by her family.

Florence was born and raised in Hockessin, DE daughter of the late John Francis Campbell and Della Tucker Campbell. She lived most of her life in Wilmington, DE raising her 4 children. Florence was a dedicated member of Elsmere Presbyterian Church for many years having served on the board of Deacons and was a member of the Women's Association. She was married to the late Benjamin F. Gray, then later divorced and married to the late Wilfredo C. Vazquez. Florence had been living with her daughter, Leslie and her family for the past 3 years and will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, "Willie" Vazquez in July 2003, her parents, John and Della Campbell; 9 brothers, Jack, Bill, Sam, Thomas, Morris, Robert, Albert, Norman, Kenneth and 2 sisters, Katherine and Mary.

Florence is survived by her 4 children, daughter, Connie M. Rea and husband Larry of Millsboro, DE; son, Benjamin T. Gray and wife Carole of Galena, MD; son, Robin C. Gray and wife Sharon of Elsmere, DE; daughter, Leslie M. Clark and husband Dave of Dagsboro, DE; 7 grandchildren, Michael Stewart, Jennifer Cortese, Heather Ruiz, Julie Gray, Megan Gray, Michelle Clark, and D.J. Clark; 5 great grandchildren, Nicole Votta, Madison Cortese, Anthony Cortese, Brandon Ruiz, Alex Ruiz and 1 soon to be great great granddaughter; She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and 2 sister in laws, Ruth Campbell of Newark, DE and Ann Campbell of NJ.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 9:30 am, in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19803. Friends are welcome at 8:30 am. Burial will follow the service at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd. Bear DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elsmere Presbyterian Church, 606 New Rd. Wilmington, DE 19805; National Kidney Foundation of Delaware Valley, 111 S. Independence Mall, Philadelphia, PA 19106; or Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd. Wilmington, DE 19810.

Patricia D. Walters

Patricia D. Walters, age 76, of Newark, DE, died on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Newark Manor Nursing Home.

Patricia was born in New York City on May 4, 1933, daughter of the late John Donohue and Cecile Miller Boody. A laboratory technician by profession, she had been employed with the duPont Company until her retirement. Well known and loved for her friendly, outgoing personality, Patricia greatly enjoyed visiting with her many friends, especially during bingo competitions and trips to Atlantic City. She also delighted in spending time with her beloved family and going out for breakfast each week with her devoted daughters. Her other hobbies included knitting baby caps for the Salem Hospital and solving crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Saxon of Savannah, GA; Donna Papanicolas of Newark, DE; and Bonni McClane of Bear, DE; brother, Oliver C. Boody III of FL; sister, Sharyn Miller of Port Angeles, WA; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, on Thursday, July 9, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Rd., Ste. 1, Newark, DE 19711.

William Edwin Bird

Age 86, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on July 17, 2009.

Born in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Bird, known as Bill, grew up and later settled in Wilmington. He graduated from the University of Delaware and received his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of WWII after serving in the 94th Division of the 301st Army Infantry in Europe. Later, he retired as an accountant for Gulf Oil Corp. He attended the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Wilmington.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Bird and daughter Linda Bird Randolph. Mr. Bird is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Decker, son-in-law, Paul Randolph and step-children, Jeffery and Robert Blauvelt and Gail Amorosa, and 7 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 10 am at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

Patricia A (O'Hara) Bradley, age 74, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away July 17, 2009 in Lewes, DE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, 12 Noon at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Visitation at the church begins 11 am. Burial will be private.

Rita A. Deldeo

Rita A. Deldeo, 80 of the Antonian, Wilmington, DE, formerly of Holly Oak, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 17, 2009

She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Emma Cisale Ciconte. Rita was a homemaker who previously worked for Electric Hose and Rubber and Dade Behring. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed watching sports, was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan, card player and enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City. She loved animals, especially her cat Dusty.

Rita was predeceased by, her husband, Phillip J. Deldeo, her brother, Thomas Ciconte and by her sisters, Mary Bruno and Anne Vignola. She is survived by, her sons, Anthony J. Deldeo and his wife Betsy of Wilmington, and Phillip J. "Doc" Deldeo and his wife Gael of Hockessin; her grandchildren, Brian, Donna, Michael and Megan Deldeo; and by her brother, Al Ciconte of Akron, OH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont on Tuesday, July 21 at 12 noon. Family and friends may visit in the church from 10:30-11:45am. Interment will follow the Mass in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. DOHERTY FUNERAL HOMES

Salvatore DiMauro

"Sal"/"Sam"

Sept. 27, 1912 - July 16, 2009

Mr. Salvatore ("Sal"/"Sam") DiMauro, age 96, formerly of Wilmington Manor in New Castle, DE, went home to our Lord to be with the angels on July 16, 2009.

Born in Bedford, NY on September 27, 1912, Mr. DiMauro was the son of the late Antonio DiMauro and Santa (Italia) DiMauro. He graduated from P.S. 23 in 1930 and moved to Delaware shortly thereafter to begin teaching aircraft sheet metal fabrication at Brown Vo-Tech High School. He then worked for 10 years at Bellanca Aircraft Corporation and would continue his craft at Atlantic Aviation, where he retired in 1977 after 30 years of service.

Mr. DiMauro was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima parish and the Howard Weston Senior Center. He also served his community for over 20 years as a member of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards, fishing, barbequing, traveling, and, most especially, spending time with his beloved family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Angeline Delores "Angie" Nigro DiMauro, in 2005, their daughter, Sally Ann, in 1975, a sister, Annie, brothers, Joe, Sebastian, Angelo, Emanuel and John, and daughter-in-law, Marie. He is survived by his children, Anthony J. DiMauro of Winter Park, FL; and Marie DiMauro Floriolli and her husband, Raymond, of New Castle, DE; sisters, Carmela Conti of NY; and Jena Garguila and Santina Sonuk, both of NJ; grandchildren, Anthony DiMauro and his wife, Cindy, of Watkinsville, GA; David DiMauro and his wife, Elizabeth, of Longwood, FL; Diane Vazquez and her husband, Eddy, of Orlando, FL; and Gina Marie Havens and her husband, Dwayne, of Dover, DE; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Brandywine Rehabilitation Center and of Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care given to Mr. DiMauro.

Friends may call from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Robert L. Campbell

Age 75, of Cochranville, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 11 am, on Tuesday, July 21, at the Cochranville UM Church Cemetery. Arr Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., Oxford.

Andrea "Andy" Marie Davis

Age 45, died Friday, July 17, 2009. Visitation, 1-3 pm, Friday, July 24, at Chapel of Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Funeral will follow at 3 pm.

Frederick Jean Duck

Age 82, passed away at home after a short sudden illness on July 18, 2009.

He worked several jobs during his life but he most enjoyed being a counter man at Haldas Bros and Haldas Market. His favorite activity was to "putter around and fix things".

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne; 2 children, Tim and Holly; 3 grandchildren, Pamela, Emily and Timmy; a great-granddaughter, Tiffani and many loving family members.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 2 pm, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1314 Foulk Rd., Wilm., DE, followed by a brief reception.

Bernard Francis Fioravanti, Sr.

Age 81, of Wilmington, DE, went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

Bernard was born in Wilmington on December 25, 1927 to the late Camillo and Giovannina Fioravanti. He was an immeasurable father, raising 5 children with his wife and best friend, Joan. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1948 and again from 1950 to 1951. He retired from the DelCampo Baking Company in 1991 after working there for 16 years. Bernie spent many happy moments with a fishing pole in his hand and his brothers by his side. He loved tying bucktails, pouring sinkers and had a talent for making lures that will be missed by all of his fishing friends. Above and beyond everything, Bernard loved his family and was happiest when they surrounded him. He was a remarkable man and leaves a legacy of happy memories.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan who died in 2006 and his sisters, Josephine Selvaggi and Dominica Perry. He will be sadly missed by his children, Bernard, Jr., James and wife Carol, Denice and David, all of Wilmington, and Timothy and wife Kate of Waterford, CT; his brothers, Ermino "Muzzy", Julio "Chook", Paul and Robert Fioravanti and his sister-in-law, Estelle McElrone, his 11 grandchildren; Jessica Brown and her husband Rick, Brenda McCall and her husband Jamie, Cheryl Paloni, Jason Paloni, Andrew Fioravanti, Anthony Fioravanti and his wife Kate, Nicole Fioravanti, Dana Gioffre and her husband Joe, Eric Fioravanti, Giovannina Fioravanti, and Sofia Fioravanti. He will also be missed by his 6 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Amber, Madison, Emma and Erica Brown, Luke Fioravanti, and two little ones ready to join the family next month as well as a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 22, 10:30 am, at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Sts., Wilmington. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening, 6-8 pm, at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Rds., Wilmington. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
