Charles B. Jackson, Jr. "Buck"

Charles B. Jackson, Jr., age 57, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

Buck proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was retired from the Ironworkers Union Local 451. Buck enjoyed animals, horseback riding, boating, riding motorcycles, and scuba diving. He was considered, "The Family Hero" because of his giving heart to help everyone in need.

Buck is survived by his wife, Deborah Jackson; daughters, Angela Jackson Pineault and husband Tony; and Nicole Jackson; brother, Robert Jackson; sister, Jackquline Fowler and husband Harry; 3 half brothers: William Scott and wife, Pammy Jo; John Scott and wife Jennifer; and Joseph Scott and wife Lisa. He was preceded in death by his brother, James (Magic) Jackson; and parents, Charles Jackson and Joanne Scott.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, September 4, in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 2-3 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm. Burial will be private.

Age 60, of Oxford, PA, died September 1, 2009. Services, 2 pm Sat., September 5, at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford; visitation, 6-9pm Fri., September 4, at the funeral home. Interment in Oxford Cemetery.

Helen J. Klaczkewicz "Kaye"

Age 90, of Hockessin, DE died on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the Christiana Hospital.

Helen was the daughter of the late, John and Stella Fialkowski Klaczkiewicz. She retired from the Continental Can Company after 40 years of service. She was a life long member of St. Hedwig's Church and a member of the Rosary Sodality.

Helen was predeceased by; her brother, Joseph Klaczkiewicz, her sisters, Cecelia C. Klaczkiewicz and Betty Ivans, and by her nephew, Robbie Klaczkiewicz. She is survived by her sisters, Sophia Klaczkewicz and Marie K. Murray and her husband Robert; her brothers, Edward J. Kaye and his wife Carol and William E. Klaczkiewicz and his wife Peggy; her sister-in-law, Linda H. Klaczkiewicz; 7 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Windsor Place for the care extended to Helen, especially Phil Potts and Maria Mercado.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig's Church 408 S. Harrison Street Wilmington, on Friday September 4, at 10am, where visitation will be held in the Church beginning at 9am. Burial will be in the Cathedral Cemetery.

Brenda L. Wright Knapp

Age 46, of Seaford, DE died August 31, 2009. Funeral, 11 am, Friday, September 4 at Williams Chapel Church, Bridgeville with a viewing on Thursday from 6-8pm. Arr: Harris- Nock Funeral Home.

Barbara Pennington Margherita

Of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Wilmington Hospital.

Born in Wilmington, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann (Skibicki) Bonkowski. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Wilmington High School. She worked as an executive secretary for the DuPont Company and for Corporate Trust for 45 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by 2 husbands, Doyne Pennington and Harry Margherita; her daughter, Dawn Pennington; her son, Trevor M. Pennington; her sisters, Ann Bonkowski and Margaret Cocciolone; and her brothers, Frank, Edward and John Bonkowski.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Lane Pennington; her grandchildren, Brian Paraskiewicz, Deanne, Donnie and Tara Pennington; her sisters, Geraldine Bove and Marie Episcopo; her brothers, Tom and Joseph Bonkowski; and her late son's companion, Stephanie Patts.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alfred I. DuPont Institute for Children 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19899.

Duke Cole Meredith

Duke Cole Meredith, 82 of Wilmington, DE, passed away at home after a long fight with cancer on Wednesday September 2, 2009.

Cole was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Duke and Marguerite Meredith. He was a graduate of Boys High School and Georgia Tech with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the US Navy and was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines at the end of WWII. He worked for Hercules, Atlas Power Company and ICI and retired after 38 years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and many other capacities. He was also on the Board of Friendship House as one of his main interests was helping the homeless through this program. He was very active in the Academy of Life Long Learning. He was an avid tennis player serving as captain of three tennis teams and enjoyed dancing, photography and travelling.

Cole is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen C. Meredith; daughter, Millie Hunter and her husband Frank; son, Darwin Meredith and his wife Lilia; and grandchildren, Conan Meredith, Meredith and James Hunter.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Cole's life at 11 am on Saturday September 5, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be private.

Vincent Patrick DelGuidice, age 19 months , of Rehoboth Beach, DE died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at A. I. duPont Hospital For Children in Newark, Del. Vincent was born in Sacramento, CA. He brought great joy to the lives of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but is now in Heaven.

He was the son of John DelGuidice and Karen (Sirotniak) DelGuidice of Rehoboth Beach. He is also survived by his sister-Catherine DelGuidice; Two Brothers, Cameron DelGuidice & Kyle DelGuidice; his paternal grandmother Betty Oden of Clintwood, VA; maternal grandparents Mary & John Sirotniak, Arlington, VA; Maternal great grandmother Jean Sirotniak , Phoenix, AZ; Aunt Annie, Aunt Marie, Aunt Chrissy, Uncle Michael and Uncle John . He was predeceasd by his paternal Grandfather Angelo Oden.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edmonds Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Sts., Rehoboth Beach at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 31, 2004 with Fr. Raymond Forester officiating, where friends may call 1hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist Cemetery in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Alton P. Scott

05/18/1934 - 3/27/2004

Alton P. Scott Jr., age 69, of Milton, DE, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. Mr. Scott was born in Baltimore, MD., son of the late Alton P. Scott Sr. and Catherine Blackwell Thornton. He graduated from Frederick Douglass H.S. in 1952. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. Returning to Baltimore he worked for the Social Security Administration, specializing in computer technology for over 30 years. During that time he participated in the Sanctuary Choir at Union Baptist Church and the Joseph Eubanks Chorale. He played in various sports leagues throughout the years. In 1991, he retired and relocated his family to Milton, DE. He became very active in his community and volunteered his time as coach, mentor, and booster for various school programs. In recent years he found his niche volunteering at the New Life Thrift Shop.

He is survived by his wife Adrienne, his children, Alton III, Craig, Adam, and Domineque, 7 grandchildren, his brother, James, his uncle, Alan, and numerous cousins.

Memorial services will be Saturday April 3, 2004 at 2 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be private.

Joseph B. Zullo

03/12/1919 - 3/27/2004

Joseph B. Zullo, Sr.,85, quietly passed away on March 27, 2004 at the Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes, DE. He was born March 12, 1919 in Port Reading, NJ to Biagio and Palimena Zullo.

Mr. Zullo came to Lewes during World War II where he served as an MP in the U.S. Army while stationed at Fort Miles. He met and married Lorraine Bryan, also of Lewes, and they shared 25 years together. After the war, he worked for the A & P Company, later as a shipper for Sports Kraft and then for Hajoca Corp. He retired in 1977.

He and his wife, Lorraine, had also owned and operated Lorraine's Bakery in Lewes, from 1960 to 1963. His wife, Lorraine B. Zullo, predeceased him in 1970. In addition to his parents, his sisters: Anna Lattanzio, Jessie Zullo, Matilda Buchan, Irene Zullo and brothers: Albert and Frank Zullo also predeceased him. He is survived by four children: Joseph B. Zullo, Jr. and wife, Wanda; Diane Palmer and husband, Bob; Brenda Zullo and fiance, Greg Skoglund; and Pamela Travis and husband, David, all of Lewes; six grandchildren: Robert J. Palmer, Amy Z. Metzner, Joseph B. Zullo, III, R. Christian Hudson, R. Jamin Hudson, Alexa C. Travis; three great grandchildren: Jacob Palmer, Mallory and Julia Metzner; sister; Nancy Golebiewski; brother: Neil of Port Reading, N.J.; sister-in-law: Audrey Palmer of Millsboro and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Weds., Mar. 31, 2004 at 10A.M. with interment to St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.
