Theresa C. Toomey, age 75, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. Mrs. Toomey loved working with ceramics, and began ceramic classes at St. Anthony's Community Center and Grade School. In later years, she also operated Theresa's Ceramic Shop.
She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Charmella and is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank; daughters: Carol Shonts and fiance, Gary, of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Donna Cousineau and husband, Jack, of Wilmington, DE; Grandchildren: Dennis; David and wife, Stacy; Dawn and husband, Charles; Cheryl; Joe; Kevin and Caitlyn; Great Grandchildren: Ian, Lauren, Savannah, and Ashley; two sisters: Edith and Matilda.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Judes Catholic Church, Rt. One & 5 Points, Lewes, DE at 11:00 AM Monday, March 29, 2004 with visitation 1 hour prior in the church. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Cemetery South in Millsboro, DE.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.

Joyce Ann (Jefferson) Seabrease, age 59, of Greenwood, DE, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. Mrs. Seabrease was born in Concord, DE, daughter of the late George Washington Jefferson and Margaret (Frampton) Jefferson. She had been employed as a clerk in the textile division of the DuPont Company, retiring 2 1/2 years ago.
Mrs. Jefferson is survived by a daughter-Stephanie Rockle and husband Michael of Milford, DE; Four Sons: Ernest Wright & wife Karen of Denton, MD; Benjamin Wright of Greenwood, DE; Shawn Wright of Greenwood, DE; and James Seabrease & wife Carol of Blades, DE; Five Brothers: Irvin Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson; Robert Jefferson; William Jefferson; and Richard Jefferson, all of Bridgeville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild .
A Memorial Service will be held at Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 28, 2004 with Rev. Gary Tulak officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangments are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.

Dorothy Andrews Farrow, age 89, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Farrow was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Farrow; she leaves no survivors.

Gerald G Yingling

Gerald G. Yingling, age 92, of Dewey Beach, DE died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Yingling was born in York, PA on January 28, 1912 to the late James Edward Yingling and Sara Ella (Gates) Yingling. He had been employed as an offset printer by Trimmer Printing, York, PA for 20 years and later worked for the Seaford Leader, Seaford, DE for 7 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Mr. Yingling enjoyed surf fishing.
He is survived by his son, James E. Yingling of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter Sara Sue Owen of Elkin, NC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah P. Yingling

Albert A. Hathaway

Albert A. Hathaway died friday, April 16, 2004 in Harbor Healthcare in Lewes. He was 65.
Mr. Hathaway will be sadly missed and remembered by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Elizabeth Hathaway;a brother, Wesley Hathaway; and two sisters, Nellie Minton and Lena Messick.
He is survived by three sisters, Ida Wooten of Harrington; Betty Hathaway of Kannapolis, NC., and Patty Stotereau of Huntington, MD., a brother, Robert Hathaway of Seaford; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services will be private.

Haskell Miller

Rev. Haskell Morris Miller, Ph.D., 93, of Seaford, formerly of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Methodist Manor House. Haskell was born in Hill County, Texas where he grew up working on his family's small, cotton-patch farm. He received his calling to the ministry early in life and was ordained at 19. Education was primary to him. He attended Bethel College, and earned a BA degree and a Master's degree from Southern Methodist University, and a Ph.D. Degree from New York University. He was a professor of Social Ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. from 1957 through 1976. Prior to that he taught and was Chaplain at Emory & Henry College and later at the University of Chattanooga. During his lifetime he served as pastor for churches in Dallas, TX; Joinerville, TX; Cloister, NJ; Knoxville, TN; Gate City, VA; Buckeystown, MD; and Washington, D.C. He wrote numerous books addressing social justice, societal issues, and the church. He also wrote and published poetry and stories from his life experiences. He strove always to live his life by the same standards he taught and preached. He supported the Civil Rights movement throughout his life, not only through his teaching and ministry, but also by his personal participation, which included marches in Selma, AL, Danville, VA, and Washington, D.C. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Ada (Anderson) Miller of Seaford, DE; three children and their spouses - Jo & Ed Kicklighter of San Diego, CA, Helen & Bob Quave of Potomac, MD, and Tom & Linda Miller of Lewes, DE.; three siblings - Oleta Hodges, Betty Ruth McGinnis, and Jim Miller, all of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday. April 18, 2004, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE, at 3:00 PM.

Elizabeth Dow Edwards

Elizabeth Dow Edwards, 82, of Lewes, DE, died Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004, She passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her family at her daughter's home in Ocean View.
Born October 7, 1921 in Chicago, IL, she was the only daughter of Mary Bowling Dow and Arthur Chase Dow. At age 4, she moved with her parents to Los Angeles, CA, where she began a career as a child actress in silent movies. She was the original "Darla" in the earliest "Our Gang" comedies. In the late 30's and 40's she became a starlet and acted in more than a dozen films, including " The Lady is Willing" (1941) with Marlene Dietrich. Mrs Edwards' stage name was Peter Dow. In 1943 she met Army officer and pilot trainee Robert L. Edwards. In 1949, they married and she moved to Hyattsville, MD. In 1954 they had a daughter, Sara Chase. Later she became Chairman of the Women's Committee for the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C. In this role, she traveled widely and hosted many parties attended by famed international musicians of the day. After 25 years of marriage, she was divorced and moved to Memphis, TN, where she began a second career as a docent at her family's ancestral home, which had been made into a museum. She also created and curated a collection of period cotton clothing that remains on display in the Woodruff House in Memphis. While in Memphis, she met Robert Thompson, with whom she had a loving relationship until his death in 2003. In 1984, they moved to Lewes to be close to her daughter.
Mrs. Edwards loved gardening, reading, and classical music. She was a great story-teller, expecially of her work with some of the great actors and actresses of the Golden Age of Hollywood. She had an insatiable enthusiasm for life and learning, and was knowledgeable in many areas, particularly the English language and its precise usage. She loved to sew and was a couturier seamstress and a restorer of antique clothing and fabrics. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her sense of fun and joie de vivre, her generous spirit, and her devotion to her family, particularly her daughter and her granddaughter.
She is survived by daughter Sara Chase Carlson and husband James of Ocean View, DE; granddaughter Leigh Piper Remy of Vanderbilt University; cousins Ruth Allen of Seattle and Ed White of Texas; nieces Judith Allen of Seattle, Jan edwards of Columbus, Sally Edwards of Boston; nephews James Edwards of Portland, Or and David Edwards of New York; four grandnieces and one grandnephew; and devoted friend Sue Newcomb.

William E. Fisher, Jr., age 48, of Lewes, De, died suddenly at his residence on April 11, 2004.
Mr. Fisher was born in Lewes, DE on February 19, 1956. Mr Fisher was a residential painter who enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the "Shanty Group" and also a member of the American Legion, Post 17(sons of American Legion) he is survived by his mother Betty Fisher of Lewes; one brother, Bruce Fisher of Lewes, DE;three sisters; Diana Sherrill of Jacksonville, FL; Linda joseph of Seaford, DE; Brenda Stewart of Lewes, DE He was predeceased by his father William E. Fisher, Sr.
