Foster, Dorothy A.
DOROTHY “Dorrie” ANNA FOSTER, of Dover, died Thursday, May 30, 2001 in the Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 84.
Mrs. Foster was born July 5, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Edward & Emma (Smith) Diedrich.
Mrs. Foster owned and operated “Dorries Ceramics” in the 1960’s. She also taught ceramics at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover and had sewn costumes for her sister for the Marion Tracy’s Dance Studio & Regional Ballets. She also made the original tree used in the annual performance of the Nutcracker Suite.
Mrs. Foster was an old fashioned homemaker who loved her family, children, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and the Modern Maturity Center.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Tracy and a brother, Edward Diedrich.
Mrs. Foster was the widow of Thomas Foster who died February 3, 1997.
She is survived by: a son, Thomas R. Foster and his wife Diane of Woodside; three daughters, Marion Snyder and her husband Arthur of Berlin, PA, Linda Thwaites and her husband Ed of Dover, and Susan Kroshus and her husband Roger of Dover; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover.
Boyko, Minnie
Minnie Boyko of Dover, formerly of Harrington, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 in Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. She was 69.
Mrs. Boyko was born in Norway on March 15, 1932 to the late Alf and Lovise Gyland.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Boyko was preceded in death by her husband, David P. Boyko on November 24, 2000.
She is survived by a brother, John Boyko of New York and a niece, Phyllis Russo.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Profita, Gerald Scott
Gerald Scott Profita
Age 19 of Wilmington, DE died suddenly on April 8, 2001 in Boca Raton, FL from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Scott was a 2000 graduate of Salesianum High School. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts. He was a true friend and confidante, a loving family member, avid animal lover and a strong and compassionate, nonjudgmental soul.
Scott is survived by his father and stepmother, Gerald D. and Mary Profita of Delray Beach, FL; his mother Cheryl L. Murray of Wilmington; his stepfather, Gerald M. Murray; his brothers Christopher M. Murray and Richard A. Murray of Wilmington, DE, Thomas, Michael, Robert, Kenneth, and John Profita and his sister, Jean Marie Profita all of NJ; his maternal grandmother, Mary M. Akers of Wilmington and may cousins and cherished friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church 4th and Jackson Sts. Wilmington on Weds. Evening, April 11 at 7:30 pm. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Weds. evening from 5-7 pm. Burial will be Thursday morning, April 12 in All Saints Cemetery at 10 am. The procession will form ath the funeral home at 9:15 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Paul's Church.
Hedgecock, Allen S.
Allen “Al” S. Hedgecock, Jr. of Dover died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 in Kent General Hospital. He was 69.
Mr. Hedgecock was born in Mayodan, North Carolina on March 14, 1932 to the late Rev. & Mrs. Allen S. Hedgecock, Sr. He moved to Delaware in 1957.
He received his Business Management Degree from the Moravian College. His educational background also included the U.S. Coast Guard Communications; Institutes for Organizational Management, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Modelnetics at Wesley College; and the National Security Forum at Air War College.
Mr. Hedgecock was the Executive Vice President of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce from 1979 to the present. He was a partner with Aloysius Butler & Clark an advertising & public relations firm in Wilmington and Dover from 1973 to 1979. From 1955 to 1973, he worked in Television and Radio Management in Scranton, PA, Baltimore, MD, and Dover, DE.
He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Hedgecock was a past President and current member of the Dover Rotary Club, past President & Officer of the Delaware Broadcasters and Maryland/D.C. Delaware Broadcasters, a Charter Member of the Public Relations Roundtable of Delaware, and a former Board Member of the Maple Dale Country Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2, the Korean War Veterans, the Air Force Association, the Quiet Birdmen and Experimental Aircraft Association.
His many achievements and the awards bestowed upon him includes the Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Dover in 1968; Boss of the Year in Dover in 1969; the Medal of Merit in 1980 from the Air Force Association; the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1981 from the USAF Military Airlift Command; Paul Harris Fellow in 1988 from the Rotary International; Citizen of the Year for 1994 in 1995 from the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1903; the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1998 from the USAF Air Mobility Command; the Medal of Merit in 1999 from the Air Force Association; and the Air Force Association Premiere Salute Award.
Mr. Hedgecock participated in the Friends of Wesley College, Delaware Tech Business Administration Advisory Council, Delaware State University Airways Science Advisory Council, Kent General Hospital Community Health Partnership of Delaware, State of Delaware Community Advisory Council at D.N.R.E.C., State of Delaware Governor’s Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council, Kent County Business/Industry/Education Advisory Committee, Delaware State Tactical Aviation Committee with the Office of Aeronautics, Community Justice Committee, Dover Air Force Base Air Mobility Command Museum Foundation where he was also a Charter Officer, Association of Chambers of Commerce of Delaware where he served as the Organizing Director, and Capitol Theater Reconstruction Board and had served as a Director.
Mr. Hedgecock was very active in and served his community in numerous organizations including the Governors Advisory Council on Unemployment Insurance, the Kent county Committee on Employment of the Disabled, the Friends of Wesley College, the Wesley College Public Relations Advisory Committee, the Delaware State University Airways Science Advisory Council, the Business/Industry/Education Advisory Council where he served as the Lower Delaware Chairman, the Kent General Hospital Development Committee, the Delaware Arthritis Foundation Committee in Kent County, the Delaware Technical & Community College “New Horizons” Planning Committee, the Maple Dale Country Club Board of Directors, the Delaware State University Mott Foundation, the New Home Fund-Raising Committee for the Modern Maturity Center, the Air Force Association for the State of Delaware as the State Communications Director and the Galaxy Dover Chapter on the Board of Directors, the DAFB Air Mobility Command Museum Foundation, the Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation Leadership Workshop Committee, and the Delaware Small Business Development Center.
He also was active in the Superior Court Community Justice Committee; the annual Kent General Hospital Foundation Committee for NASCAR Drivers and Personnel Golf Tournament; the State “Meals on Wheels” Committee thru the Modern Maturity Center; the statewide TV education Project, the Distant Learning Committee thru Polytech High School; and the MASBEC, Minority and Small Business Entrepreneurial Committee thru Delaware State University.
Mr. Hedgecock was active in and enjoyed aviation, boating, golf, tennis, history, and trivia.
Mr. Hedgecock is survived by his beloved, Sherlene Isiminger of Dover; a daughter, Andrea Hedgecock of New York; two brothers, Norman Hedgecock of 29 Palms, CA and John Hedgecock of Redlands, CA.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1PM Sunday, June 3, 2001 in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce will be holding a reception following the service at the Maple Dale Country Club.

Joseph C. Wurm
Age 73 formerly of Hershey Run, Wilmington, DE died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in the Newark Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Wurm served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a retired police officer with the Nassau County Police Department in Long Island, NY. He was born and raised in Floral Park, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Grace (Evensen) Wurm in 1996.
Joseph is survived by his children, Christopher M. Wurm of Landenberg, PA and Nancy W. Liro of Newark, DE; his sister Marie Mayden of CO; 3 granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, April 12, 12:30 pm. Where friends may call after 11:30 am. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

Mary V. Quinn
Age 94 of Churchman Village, formerly of Yorklyn died Monday, April 16, 201 in Churchman Village.
Mrs. Quinn worked for many years at the Snuff Mill in Yorklyn and had later worked in sales for Wilmington Dry Goods.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry V. Quinn, who died in 1977; and her grandson Lee Wright, who died in 1999. She is survived by her sons, John L. Quinn of Wilmington and James F. Quinn of Berea, KY; her daughters Dorothy Wright of Philadelphia, PA and Mary Lou Quinn of Newark, DE; 1 grandson and 8 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a grave side service in All Saints Cemetery on Friday morning, April 20, 2001 at 11 am. There will be no viewing. Please omit flowers.

GENE J. "CHADGE" ALESSANDRINI
Age 86 of Wilmington died Monday, April 16, 2001 in Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Alessandrini was a cement mason for 45 years with Union #36 retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and an avid horse racing fan.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Toscani) Alessandrini; his son, Louis Gene Alessandrini and his wife Evaline of Newark; his brothers, Paridee Alessandrini of Wilmington and Tarr Alessandrini of Millsboro, DE; his sister Diane Cutler of Wilmington; his 4 grandchildren, Dr. Evaline Alessandrini, L. Gene Alessandrini, Nicholas Alessandrini and Terre Taylor; his 8 great grandchildren, Gene, Nicky, David, Charlsie, Toni Rose, Natale, Alexander and Michael. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Theresa Tambourelli and Nelli Salerno.
