Dorothy G. Strupczewski

Age 75 of Latimer Estates, Wilmington, DE died suddenly on Saturday, April 14, 2001 in the St. Francis Hospital.

Dorothy was a homemaker. She retired from the DuPont Company. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Church and a past member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter J. Strupczewski; her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Ziggy Stanczak and her granddaughter, Stacey-Lynn Stanczak all of Wilmington, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth's Church, Cedar and S. Clayton Sts., Wilmington on Thursday, April 19 at 11 am, where friends may call after 10 am. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Elizabeth's Building Fund, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Taylor, Ellen

Ellen Taylor, age 86 of Oxford, PA, died March 18, 2001 at the Southern Chester County Medical Center. Mrs. Taylor had been a floral grower for E.B. Walton and Son. She is survived by her sister, Cleo Woods of Tazwell, VA. A graveside service will be held 2pm,Thursday, March 22, 2001 at the Morris Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA.

Stilwell, Carolyn

Carolyn Stilwell Age 85, of Newark, DE, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital, Newark. Mrs. Stilwell was a graduate of the "old" Wilmington High School. She was a Navy WAVES Veteran of WWII and a retired Supervisor of the Typing Pool at the DuPont Co. Mrs. Stilwell was an avid Bridge player, belonging to several groups, as well as and avid bowler at the Brunswick Lanes in the Newark Shopping Center. She was a member of the Red Clay Creek Garden Club, the Newark Century Club, the Newark Senior Center, the Newark Charitable and Social Club and the St. Marks U.M. Church in Stanton. Mrs. Stilwell is preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Stilwell, who died in 1989. She is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Stewart of Wilmington, DE, sister, Jean Thoms of Sweetwater, NJ, step-daughter, Patricia Burbage of Wilmington, DE, step-son, Frank H. Stilwell of Atlanta, GA , nephew Edward T. Stewart, also of Wilmington, 7 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 11am, Friday, March 23, 2001 at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1700 Limestone Road, Stanton, DE. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the St. Mark's U.M. Church or the Newark Senior Center, both in c/o the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.

Siconolfi, Lillian

Lillian Siconolfi, 87, Westminster Village McKee Road Suite 100, Dover, passed away Tuesday March 20, 2001 at Residence in Dover.

She was born on March 17, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY to Rocco and Josephine (Lemmo) Siconolfi.

She was a Life time resident of 318 5th Street, South Brooklyn until suffering a stroke in 1998 and moving to Dover to be closer to relatives. seals person in the silver department for the former Abraham & Strauss Department Store in downtown Brooklyn for many years retring in 1977. She was a devoted, generous aunt to her many nieces and nephews, an independent person, avid traveler and active member of her parish, Our Lady of Peace in Brooklyn. Steele, Hilda H.

Hilda H. Steele Age 66, of New Castle, DE, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Manor Care of Pike Creek. Mrs. Steele was born in Twin Oaks, PA, the daughter of Reuben W. and Viola C. Heath. Mrs. Steele had worked for the DuPont Company in Wilmington for 18 years as a secretary and then retired from First Card Bank after 8 years of service. She is preceded in death by her father, Reuben W. Heath. She is survived by her mother, Viola C. Heath of Newark, DE, her son, Joseph R. Smith of New Castle, 2 daughters, Gloria J. Carrow of Wilmington, DE and Claire R. Walker and her partner John Pientka, both of New Castle, her sisters, Ruby E. Bibbs of Bear, Rachele E. Zane of Marshalton and Sherry L. Capano of Delray Beach, FL, 6 grandchildren, Sarah, Aron, Billy, Erik, Jody and Laura, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews and 4 nieces. Services will be held 1:30pm, Monday, March 26, 2001 at the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE where family and friends may visit at 12:30pm. Burial will be in the Head of Christiana Cemetery following the service.

Bertha B. Sheppard, 94, New Hope Rd., Willards, passed away Friday March 23, 2001 at Chancellor Care Nursing Home Delmar.

She was born on April 21, 1906 in Zephyr to John and Emmaline (Isaccs) Bryant.

Mrs. Sheppard was a volunteer at the Dover Modern Maturity Center, she helped to make easter baskets for the Governors easter egg hunt. She also volunteered at the Cheswold Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting for the Lions Club in Willards, MD. She is preceed in death by her husband Thomas G. Sheppard and a brother Iven Bryat..

Eastburn, III, David R.

David R. Eastburn III Age 54, of Newark, DE died Friday March 23, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Eastburn was a 1965 graduate of the Newark High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart with the 82nd Airborne. He then returned to the family business at the Red Mill Nursery. David was a member of the local VFW Post 475. Mr. Eastburn is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Jebb Pennington. He is survived by his father David R. Eastburn Jr. and step-mother, Elizabeth Eastburn of North Fort Meyers, FL. ; his son David R. Eastburn IV. of Trumbull CT. ; and his sister Lynn Eastburn of Newark, DE. Services will be held 11a.m. Thursday March 29 at the First Presbyterian Church, 292 West Main St., Newark. Interment will follow in the Head of Christiana Cemetery Newark, DE. Doris M. Grimm, 77, Nimitz Road, Dover, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2001 at Christina Hospital in Wilmington with family.

She was born on June 24, 1923 in Millville, NJ to John and Tillie (Coare) Young.

Mrs. Grimm servied in the US Army women Corp as a Tech 4 in the Medical Dept. she was a optholmoprosthetic Technician (she made plactic eyes). She is retered from Kreft Foods after 18 years. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling, photoraphy, needlework, and ceremaics. She is preeced in death by her husband Lawrence D. Grimm, Sr. Sister, Matilda Phifer Hughes, Brothers, John, Herbert, Norman, and David Young..

Barcus, Edward N.

Edward N. Barcus, 84, Spring Valley Road, Frederica, passed away Sunday April 01, 2001 at KGH Bay Health Milford.

He was born on August 07, 1916 in Henderson, MD to Clarence and Myrtle (Newlee) Barcus.

Mr. Barcus as a teenager worked on various farms in the Henderson, Md area. He came to Wilmington, DE soon after General Motors Opened and worked there for 29 years. Wilmington Manor was home, after retiring he and his wife moved to High Point Park, Frederica, DE Mr. Barcus was in the Delaware State News on the People Page as being a "good neighbor". The article stated "he was an outstanding citizen, an upright good man" and if anyone wanted something or needed something they always called on Edward. Some of the nurses in the doctors offices would call him to go over and take blood pressure of someone in High Point and report back to them. They called him "Dr. Barcus". He was an avid bowler and bowling on Monday and Thursday. At one time there were 3 woman and Edward on his team and he called them "Barcus's Beauties". When there was men and woman on the team they were called "Guys and Dolls". He was a member of the Masons in Wilmington and was a member, trustee, and usher at his Church, Magnolia Methodist Church. In addition to his bowling he was a great fisherman, and liked to play cards. He also enjoyed trap-shooting..

He is survived by his Wife of 57 years, Mary Barcus of Frederica, DE. Sister, Skippy Lyness-Blanch and her husband,Burton Lord Blanch Sr.of Wilmington, DE.,a neice, Candy Lyness Winn and her husband Rick of Rocky Point, NC; nephew, Steve Lyness of Newark, DE; nephew and his wife, Wayne and Vivien Brittingham of Delaware City, DE.

Margaret "Peggy" Cuozzo

Age 73, of Latimer Estates, Wilmington, Delaware, died suddenly in her home on Monday, April 9, 2001.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Cuozzo, and by her mother Lena. Peggy was a 1945 graduate of Wilmington High School. She was a retiree of the DuPont Company. Peggy was a member of St. Elizabeth's Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, the Altar Guild, Parish Outreach and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was an active member of the Clarence Fraim Senior Center.

Peggy is survived by her first cousins, Kathaleen Lloyd and William Walsh; her god-daughters Kathaleen McCormick and Cecelia Hagan-Hoover; her dear friends, Rita Bishop and Salvatore "Sam" DeMasi and many friends and extended family members who loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth's Church, Cedar and South Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Wednesday, April 11th at 12:00 noon, where friends may call after 11:00. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

MARTHA B. TAYLOR

Age 76 of Donovan Street, Milford, DE, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 on the date of the 56th Wedding Anniversary of her marriage to her late husband, John Calvin Taylor, who preceded her in death in 1993.

Martha was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late John B. and Marian Baker. She was a graduate of Germantown High School and Pierce Business College. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker most of her life, taking great pride in her family and their activities.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by five daughters; Martha Marino and her husband Peter of Zionsville, PA; Barbara Taylor and her fiance James Carnright; Jean Emory and her husband Christopher; Ruth Warner and her husband Kenneth and Nancy Collins and her husband Michael, all of Milford, DE; two sisters, Jean Keogan of Brant Beach, NJ and Lois Connolly and her husband Joseph of Ft. Washington, PA, five grandchildren; Joseph Marino, Stephanie Luper, Nicole Marino, M.J. Collins and Adam Warner and six great grandchildren.

A private service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Bear, DE. Interment will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD, 21803-0163.
