Peyser, Harry M.
Major Harry M. Peyser (USAF, ret.)
Major Harry M. Peyser of Camden lost his battle to cancer on Monday, June 11, 2001 at Westminster Village Health Center in Dover. He was 78.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late Harry M. and Agnes Peyser.
Major Peyser was a retired U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who fought in World War II, the Korean War, and the early days of the Vietnam War. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at 17 and was later commissioned in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded many medals for his valor and service including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart , which was received for injuries when he was shot down in Korea. After a long recuperation, he returned to active duty and acted as the private pilot to the Queen of Libya.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and entered the University of Delaware to earn his Masters Degree. He then worked for the Delaware Department of Public Instruction until his retirement in 1987.
Major Peyser was a long-standing member of Holy Cross Church in Dover, and later in life he attended the Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden.
Harry was a quiet, gentle man who loved to fly and dance. He enjoyed music, especially jazz and show tunes. He had great spirit and was a hero to his family! He will be greatly missed, but will always be alive in our hearts and minds. The family wishes to thank Dr. Edward Alexander for his care, but Harry is now in the care of the greatest physician, our Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his children, Montana and Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jeanne Peyser of Camden; three children, Michael, Monique, and Martine Peyser; two stepchildren, Bethany Hacker and her husband Richard and Curtis Dotson and his wife Kris; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Dotson, Charlotte Hacker, and Ricky Hacker.
A celebration of his life will be held 10 AM Friday, June 15, 2001 at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden with Pastor Jim Walz presiding. He will be interned in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Harry’s name to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden, DE 19934 or to Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.

Stella P. Messick
Age 87, of Wynnewood, PA, died Sunday, June 17, 2001 at her residence.
Mrs. Messick was born in New London, CT and was "Miss New London" at age 16. She was a homemaker, a volunteer for the Bryn Mawr Hospital and a member of the Bala Golf Club in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
Mrs. Messick is survived by her husband of 69 years, Captain Harry Joseph Messick of Wynnewood, PA and 2 sons, Richard W. Messick of Amityville, NY and Harry J. Messick of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 nieces, Marguerite Goodwin of Elkton, MD and Helene Doneker of Willow Grove, PA.
Visitation will be held 7-9pm, Thursday, June 21, 2001 at the Stretch Funeral Home, 236 E. Eagle Rd., Havertown, PA. Burial will be held 11am, Monday, July 2, 2001 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Geroge Alexander Dunlop, Jr.
Age 64 of Wilmington, DE died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at home.
George worked 35 years for John G. Merkel & Sons as a sales representative, retiring in 1995. After retirement, he worked for Hannah's Pharmaceutical Supply Company until his passing. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and served 3 years in the Army security agency division.
He is survived by wife of 44 years, Mary F. Griscom Dunlop; his sister, Mary Kay Schauer and her husband Ron of Ottawa, IL; his niece and 3 nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Friday June 29 at 12 noon, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

Wright, Rev. Willard L.
Rev. Willard L. Wright, 65, of Clayton, died at home on Monday June 25 due to complications of cancer.
He was born in Dublin, Md. the son of the late Berlin and Nellie Wright.
Rev. Wright served in the U.S. Army from 1954-57. He was employed as a mechanic for C.F. Schwartz, Dover, for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.
He was an active minister with the United Pentecostal Church for 35 years.
Rev. Wright was preceded in death by a son, ET1 Mark T. Wright, U.S. Navy, in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Juliet A. Wright, at home; a son Fred Wright, of New Castle; 4 brothers, Robert, of Glen Burnie, Md.; Herbert, of Stoney Point, NC; Berlin Jr., of Dublin, Md.; and Alan, of Denver, Co.
Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday June 30 at the Newark United Pentecostal Church, 73 Salem Church Rd., Newark. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna; and also at the church at 11:00 AM Saturday.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in honor of his beloved pet, Sam, to: Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Rd., Camden, De. 19934.

Whitney, Albert
FELTON--CW4 Albert W. "Bill" Whitney, of Felton, died Friday, June 22, 2001 at home. He was 78.
Mr. Whitney was born on December 19, 1922 in Lebanon, Delaware, son of the late Clark and Cora Mae (McColley) Whitney.
Chief Retired from the Delaware Army National Guard in 1978 after 40 plus years service while a member of the guard he was called to active duty in September 1940 and served in the South Pacific as a first sergeant during World War II. After returning from active duty, he later became a full time technician for the guard from which he retired in 1978. During his military career he also served as a personnel, a food service in and a maintenance warrant officer. He also was an accomplished marksman and was a member of the marksmanship teams for several years that represented the Delaware Guard at the National Matches at Camp Perry Ohio.
After his retirement from the guard, he owned and raced harness horses at the Harrington and Dover Raceways.
Mr. Whitney was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3.
He is predeceased by a brother and three sisters.
Mr. Whitney is survived by his wife Ruby L. Whitney of Dover, a daughter Terri Whitney-Rose of Dover and son-in-law Roy Rose; step daughter Christine Septer of Ocala, FL; a brother Benjamin W. Whitney of Milford; two sisters Elsie Billman of Magnolia and Barbara Henshaw of Smyrna, and a long time friend Dorothy Wheeler of Felton.
Memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where the family will greet friends beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be private in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Wilcitts, Mary Helen Laramore
Mary Helen Laramore Wilcutts, 76, of Aberdeen, NC died Nov. 4 2000
Mrs. Wilcutts moved to North Carolina in the early 1980s. She had been a bookkeeper with Sears in Dover and Equine Clinics, Inc. for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. (Tic) Wilcutts and a brother Colby Laramore. She is survived by a sister Elizabeth Collins of Dover, several nieces and a nephew. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 12 at 1 PM, in Odd Fellows Cem. in Camden, DE Instead of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to one's favorite charity.
Donnelly, Margaret J.
Margaret "Peggy" J. Donnelly of Dover died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 in Westminister Village Health Center in Dover. She was 85.
Mrs. Donnelly was born in London, England on September 2, 1915 to the late Thomas & Francis White. She moved to the United States with her husband, Andrew, in 1950 and had lived in various duty stations due to her husband's military and civil service career.
She was a homemaker and loving mother.
Mrs. Donnelly was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Standish Donnelly, in 1979; a son, Bruce Michael Donnelly, in 1973, and a sister, Barbara White Bond, in 1988.
She is survived by a son, Michael Donnelly of Severna Park, MD.
Memorial Services will be held 3PM Monday, July 16, 2001 in Christ Episcopal Church, State & Water Sts., Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, Central Division, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
