Steele, Frank Leslie

Ulysses, Kansas -- Frank Leslie "Bud" Steele of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was 48.

Mr. Steele was born on March 2, 1953 in Clayton, Delaware.

He was a graduate from the Dover High School, Class of 1971.

Mr. Steele had been a resident of Ulysses since November 2000.

He was a pen rider for Grant County Feeders of Ulysses, Kansas.

Mr. Steele was an avid animal lover and enjoyed farm life working with animals. In his early working years he was active with his family's farm in Dover known as Steele's Wool Farm. He later worked in Virginia until his present employment in Ulysses, Kansas.

He was predeceased by his father Howard "Babe" Steele.

He is survived by his mother June (Cook) Warrington of Dover, a daughter Rebecca Steele of Front Royal, Virginia; a step-son, Andy Stubbs of Joppa, Maryland; girlfriend, Mary Gooden and children Karen, David and Doug Sherwood of Woodside and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katelynn Barron.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

The Rev. Judy Zingaro will officiate.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Elizabeth and Katelynn Barron Education Fund, c/o 2954 Pearsons Corner Road, Dover, DE 19904.

Achuff Jr., James H.

James H. Achuff Jr., 74, of Kenton, and formerly of Aston Township, Pa., died at home on Friday July 27.

He was born in Lenni, Pa., and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Achuff was employed as a welder for Ludwig Honold Manf. Co., Folcroft, Pa., for over 20 years. He moved to Delaware in 1982, and was employed at the Smyrna Rest Area for 12 years. He enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Achuff, in 1993; a son, George G. Achuff, in 1999; and a step-daughter, Mary I. Lamb, in 2000.

He is survived by his companion and friend, Thelma Daub, at home; 4 sons, John and William, both of Claymont; James III, of Bear; and Ludwig, of Cheswold; 5 daughters, Rose “Sissy” Rodriguez, of Linwood, Pa.; Rosamarie Shipley, of Townsend; Janet Johnson, of New Castle; Evva Hoyt, of Mountainview, Mo.; and Pearl Steele, of Harrington; 3 sisters, Edna Russell and Arlene Saville, of Pennsylvania; and Mary Latshaw, of New Castle; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday August 1 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00AM. Graveside services and interment will be held 1:30 PM at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, Pa.

Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.

Aurillo, Kathleen E.

Kathleen "Kaye" E. Aurillo of Camden died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at home. She was 72.

Mrs. Aurillo was born in Mercara Coong Mysore State, India on March 11, 1929 to the late Capt. John B. Bailey and Dorothy Wood Bailey. Her father was in the British Army for 31 years, with most of the time being stationed in India. She went to the Lawrence Royal Military School, and a few years ago the school celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Kathleen was one of the first 8 Air Hostesses for Air India and had worked for the airline for almost two years. She came to the United States in 1951 and traveled with her husband, Ralph Aurillo, during his 20-year naval career. They came to Dover in 1970 when her husband, Ralph, became the Jr. High Band Director at the Central Middle School.

Mrs. Aurillo was a woman who was a lovingly wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who she came in contact with. She enjoyed working in her flower garden all summer and had even worked in the neighbors' flower gardens planting flowers and pulling weeds. Her favorite pastime was being a member of the Dover Dance Club and dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha. She also earned Life Master in 1998 with the American Contract Bridge League.

Mrs. Aurillo is survived by her husband, Ralph Aurillo of Camden; three sons, Brian Aurillo and his wife Rosa, David P. Aurillo and his wifeKathy, and Roger W. Aurillo and his friend Laura Sherry, all of Manassas, VA; a daughter, Kathryn Aurillo Goss and her husband Ricky of Houston, TX; a brother, John F. Bailey and his wife Bette of London; a sister, Rene Bailey Rhodes and her husband John of Silver Springs, MD; eight grandchildren, Henry Sherry, Angela, Desiree, Wayne, Shane, Ronnie, and Michael; and a great grandson, Travis.

Funeral Service will be held 8PM Monday, July 30, 2001 in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call from 7PM to 8PM. Kathleen will be entombed in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Central Division, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.

Jung, Soonja

Soonja Jung of Dover died Thursday, July 26 in her home. She was 51.

Mrs. Jung was born in South Korea in 1950. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Kyung Choon Jung, of Dover; one son, Ill Jung, and one daughter, Eungoo Jung, both at home; and one brother and sister in South Korea.

A memorial service was held, Friday, July 27, 2001, in the Korean Baptist Church, 2659 McKee Road, Dover. Arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover.

Dempsey, Robert F.

Robert F. Dempsey of Dover died Friday, July 27, 2001 in Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 40.

Mr. Dempsey was born March 27, 1961 in Oil City, PA to the late Robert F. and Mary C. Dempsey. He was a 1979 graduate of Dover High School and had attended University of Delaware and Delaware Technical & Community College.

He worked for 20 years as a pipe layer for Teal Construction and had served in the Army National Guard for 4 years.

Mr. Dempsey was a member of the Church On The Westside in Camden-Wyoming where he played bass guitar and drums for their Contempary Gospel Band.

He is survived by his wife, Shelagh Dempsey of Dover; two sons, Robert F. Dempsey III of Smyrna and James Michael Dempsey of Smyrna; two stepdaughters, Nicole Ruffin of Dover and Natti McGuire of Dover; a brother, Michael R. Dempsey of Dover; two sisters, Ann R. Marinangili of Newark and Mary Beth Higgins of Newark; a niece, Mikkenna Higgins of Newark; and five nephews, John Marinangili, Christopher Marinangili, Brian Higgins, Steven Higgins, and Matthew Higgins, all of Newark.

A Viewing will be held 7PM to 9 PM Tuesday evening, July 31, 2001 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, De. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 South State Street, Dover.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Schwartz Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 1449, Dover, DE 19903.

KATHERINE GRAY FERNEYHOUGH

Age 95 of Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Beach, DE, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at St. Francis Care Center, Hockessin, DE.

Mrs. Ferneyhough was an English teacher at the Milton High School, Milton, DE from 1937 to 1942 and then became a homemaker. She was a life member of the American Clan Gregor Society, a life member of the Historical Societies of Lewes, Rehoboth and Milton, a life member of the Rehoboth Art League, a member of the University of Delaware Century Club, a past member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club and a member of St. John The Baptist Episcopal Church in Milton, DE.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert E. Ferneyhough, on February 6, 1971.

She has no immediate survivors.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton, Virginia. Interment will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to your favorite charity.

Walker, Jr., Arthur F.

Arthur F. Walker, Jr., 78, Uper Kings Road, Woodside, passed away Tuesday July 24, 2001 at KGH Bay Health Dover.

He was born on October 20, 1922 in Woodside, DE to Arthur and Roxy (Derby) Walker, Sr.

He was a graduated of Caesar Rodney High School. Mr. Walker was a W W I I Navy veteran where he was a ship's cook. He was a Charter member of the Caesar Rodney Ruritan Club. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Samuel D. Walker..

He is survived by one Brother, William H. Walker and his wife Virginia of Charlette, NC, Four nephews and one niece.

Graveside services will be held Monday 07/30/2001 02:00 PM at Odd Fellows Cem. in Camden, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE

The family request that memorial contributions be given to Caesar Rodney Ruritan Club.

Loretta F. Windogrodzki

Age 82, of New Castle, DE passed away at home on Monday July 23, 2001. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband were foster parents to over 100 children for Catholic Charities for over 20 years. Loretta is survived by her husband, John R. Winogrodzki, her son, Richard J. Winogrodzki of New Castle, DE her daughter Carol Jackson of Newark, DE, her granddaughter Susan Temple, her brother Bernard J. Long of Brownsville, NJ and her sister, Lenore Bloomberg of WilksBarre, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at the Resurrection Parish 3000 Videre Drive, Skyline Ridge, Wilmington on Friday July 27th, at 11:30 am. Where friends may call after 10 am. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Loretta may be sent to the Alzeimer's Association 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Childress, Althea A.

Althea A. Childress of Dover died on July 20th at Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 81 years old.

She was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 28, 1919 to Walter and Daisey Becho.

She worked at the Peoples Drug Store in Richmond for 30 years, and moved to the Dover area 14 years ago to be with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Childress. She is survived by a son, Carter L. Davis, a loving sister, Doris B. Gregory of Dover, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover, De.
