Bauer, Joshua F.

Joshua F. Bauer of Smyrna, Delaware, died at home Friday February 23, 2001.

He was 16.

Joshua was born June 20, 1984 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of Lawrence E. Shoun of Bear, Delaware and Elizabeth Gorman of Smyrna, Delaware.

Joshua enjoyed skateboarding, music, art, drawing, computers, playing strategy games, and had recently talked of starting a band with his friends. He was enrolled in the James H. Groves School of Adult Continuing Education. He loved animals and was well known for his sense of humor.

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his Dad, Charles E. Gorman with whom he lived; a sister, Charlene W.E. Gorman at home; a step-sister, Stacey Lynn Kinsey of New Castle, Delaware; his grandfather, Harry “Sonny” F. Bauer Jr. of Bear, Delaware; his grandmother, Edna May Gorman at home; his grandparents, Joyce and Charles E. Gorman Sr. of Dover, Delaware; his grandmother, Eva May Shoun of Bear, Delaware and his great grandparents, Anthony and Katherine Labricioscia of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Friends may call Thursday March 1, 2001 from 7 to 9PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Services and burial will be private.

Bonifera, Edna

Edna “Bonnie” Bonifera of Smyrna died Sunday, August 26, 2001 in Silver Lake Center Nursing & Rehabilitation in Dover. She was 92.

Mrs. Bonifera was born in New York City on December 27, 1908. She spent her life in Manhattan, New York until moving to Delaware in 1982.

Mrs. Bonifera worked as a forelady in a New York upholstery company and left her upholster employer to serve her country during World War II for American Airlines as an aircraft mechanic after graduating from the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics. Following the war, she returned to the upholstery company.

She was a member of the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center in Smyrna. She also enjoyed oil painting and photography.

Mrs. Bonifera was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Paul Bonifera, in 1982.

She is survived by a son, Vincent P. Bonifera and his wife, Jeryldean of Smyrna and a grandson and his wife, Vincent P. Bonifera, Jr. and Kimberly of Centreville, VA.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center, Inc., 1775 Wheatley’s Pond Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977.

McGinnis, Frederick L.

Frederick L. McGinnis of Smyrna, Delaware, died in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Wednesday November 29, 2000.

He was 59.

Mr. McGinnis was born January 19, 1941 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of Frederick B. and Gladys Carey McGinnis of Smyrna, Delaware.

Mr. McGinnis worked as a truck driver for North Florida Transport and later as an assistant manager for the Shore Stop in Smyrna, Delaware.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by 1 daughter, Kathleen M. McGinnis of Felton, Delaware; 1 brother, Robert McGinnis of Clayton, Delaware; 1 sister, Louise Bush of Smyrna, Delaware; and a granddaughter, Taylor Hutson of Felton, Delaware.

Memorial services will be Sunday December 3, 2000 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the funeral home to defray the cost of funeral expenses.

Johnson, Paul "Toby" L.

Paul “Toby” L. Johnson of Townsend, Delaware, died peacefully at home, Wednesday November 22, 2000.

He was 66.

Mr. Johnson was born in Delaware, October 14, 1934 the son of the late Hazel and Esther Manlove Johnson.

Mr. Johnson worked as a small engine/tractor mechanic for Clements Supply Company in Clayton, Delaware for several years before retirement.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, cheering on Dale Earnhardt.

He was a member of the Blackbird Micro Midget Racing Club as well as Airport Speedway where he had been building and racing his own cars for 41 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Johnson and Robert Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emma Jean Shane Johnson

1 son and daughter-in-law, Ricky L. and Kelly Johnson of Middletown, Delaware.

3 daughters, Deborah J. and her husband Matthew F. O’Brien of Middletown, Delaware; Donna L. and her husband Russell Brown of Middletown, Delaware and Michelle L. Johnson of Blackbird, Delaware.

2 brothers, Richard Johnson of Dover, Delaware and Stanley Johnson of Blackbird, Delaware.

2 sisters, Hazel Carlson of Smyrna, Delaware and Virginia Seymore of Hartly, Delaware.

11 Grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Katie, Charles, Russell, Colleen, Todd, Sara, Ricky, Shelby, Allie and many nieces, nephews, cousins, bothers and sisters-in-law and many friends.

Services will be Tuesday November 28, 2000 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

Michael “Mickey” Kachmar

August 18, 1912 – August 21, 2001

With grace and dignity, Michael left this life on Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the home of his daughter, Joanne Kachmar Leavitt of Lake Worth, FL, where he and Clara, his devoted wife of 66 years, resided since October 2000.

Michael was born in Wilmington, Delaware to courageous parents who immigrated from Europe in 1912. Michael was born three months after his parents arrived in the US.

He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to his children, Joanne and David; granddaughter Christa Leavitt of Lake Worth; granddaughters Marisa and Dana Kachmar of Wilmington and their mother, Susan Schiable; grandson Ian David Kachmar; son-in-law Richard Leavitt of Lake Worth; brother Theodore Kachmar with wife Eleanor and children Teddy, Steve, Joe and Marian and their respective spouses; niece Eleanor Jablonski and children Karen and Michael; nephew Joseph Pawlowicz with wife Joan and children Ann Marie and Kara; nephew Edward Pawlowicz with wife Helen and children Mimi, Missy and Julie; niece and godchild Marie McKelvey with husband Bob and children Bobby, Andy, Susan and Kathy; niece Carole McElhenney with husband Stuart and children Phillip, Anna, Ben, Katie and Charlie; nephew Charles Murphy with wife Kathy, as well as all significant others in the family.

Michael was preceded in death by his nephew, Jerome Kachmar, of Boothwyn, PA in October 2000. Michael’s niece, Lillian Pawlowicz Baker of Aspen, Colorado, preceded her uncle in death in September 2000. Lillian’s devoted son, Carl Baker, Jr. carries on his mother’s joyful spirit.

Michael leaves a part of himself in all of us, his family members. He was a gentleman and a gentle man of few words and deep feelings, with a spiritual depth which sustained him over his many years with us. His life exemplified commitment and dedication to family, above all. His quick wit and gentle humor will always make us smile.

We express gratitude to those individuals who provided quality of life care for Michael in Palm Beach County. We extend our gratitude to Hospice of Palm Beach County for their caring support in our hours of greatest need. We are grateful to Ms. Reginna Johnson for her tender and consistent care of Michael in these last few months.

Tillman Funeral Home in West Palm Beach is coordinating arrangements with Mealey Funeral Home on Limestone and Milltown Roads in Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Woodcrest, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington. Friends and family are asked to remember a faithful husband, beloved Dad, adored grandpop, loyal brother, devoted father figure to nephews and nieces, good friend and neighbor, and a good man. He was always there for us. We love him deeply.

Malloy, Francis J.

Francis J. Malloy, 74, South Farm View Dr., Dover, passed away Tuesday August 21, 2001 at Westminster Nursing Center Dover.

He was born on October 31, 1926 in Mahanoy City, PA to James and Dorothy (Coyne) Malloy.

He worked at Boeing for over 35 years. He was a W W I I U S Marine Corps Veteran. He enjoyed travaling in his spair time..

He is survived by Cousin, Sally O'Brien of Mahanoy City, PA. And several Nephews & neices

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
