Robert E. “Bobby” Cole of Clayton, Delaware, died in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital Thursday November 23, 2000.

He was 47.

Bobby was born February 11, 1953 the son of Earl B. Steele Sr. of Hartly, Delaware and the late Alice May Cole.

He was a self-employed landscaper for several years.

He enjoyed wildlife photography, fishing and crabbing.

In addition to his father, he is survived by 1 son, Joseph E. Fretz of Clayton, Delaware.

1 sister, Alice May Steele Manz of Middletown, Delaware;

his Aunt, Mona Louise Cole with whom he lived;

his cousin, Richard Fretz of Clayton, Delaware and 5 nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday November 27, 2000 at 1PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

Caldwell, Marrietta P.

Marrietta P. Caldwell of Smyrna, Delaware, died in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Saturday November 18, 2000.

She was 87.

Mrs. Caldwell was born January 1, 1913 in Henderson, Maryland, the daughter of the late Carroll O. and Anna Blanche Kelley Pippin.

Mrs. Caldwell worked for Richard and Robbins Company of Dover, Delaware and later for the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna before retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill and a member of Camden Moose Chapter #1546.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Caldwell Sr. and a son, John E. Caldwell Jr.

She is survived by 1 son, Carroll “Pop” D. Caldwell of Smyrna, Delaware.

4 daughters, Eleanor C. Moore, Anna Caldwell and Marie Salter all of Smyrna, Delaware; Etta Mae Oehler of Sunman, Indiana;

1 step-sister, Esther Bell Stubbs of Harrington, Delaware.

8 Grandchildren

16 Great Grandchildren

1 Great Great Granddaughter.

Services will be Tuesday November 21, 2000 at 12noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Ewell’s St. Paul United Methodist Church, PO Box 266, Clayton, DE 19938.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors, Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

McVey, Mary Ann

Mary Ann McVey, age 67, of Hickory Woods, Bear, died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at her home.

She is survived by four sisters, Patricia Riley, Geraldine Marra and Toni Quindlen, all of Wilmington, and Denise Turner of Hockessin; and several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friends and staff at Hickory Woods.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. There will be no viewing. Interment will be at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Arrangements by Mealey Funeral Homes.

Hutchison, Sr., Richard (Richie) E.

Richard (Richie) E. Hutchison, Sr., 58, of Newark, DE, died suddenly of an accidental death at the Amtrak shop in Wilmington, DE on Thursday August 16, 2001.

Mr. Hutchison had been employed with Amtrak for 14 years, as well as owner and operator of Richie’s Construction & Excavating, Inc. He was a member of the Ionic Masonic Lodge #31 in Newport, DE. He enjoyed boating, fishing and professional wrestling and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, June L. Hutchison of Newark, DE; 3 sons, Jeffrey S. Hutchison of Wilmington, Richard E. Hutchison, Jr. of New Castle, DE and Brian E. Hutchison of Bear, DE; 3 brothers, Franklin J. Hutchison of Bear, DE, Walter M. Hutchison of North East, MD and John L. Hutchison; 8 grandchildren, Angela Hutchison, Ricky Hutchison, Jeffrey Hutchison, Stacy Hutchison, Cecilia Hutchison, Ryan Hutchison, Sean Hutchison and Brian Hutchison, Jr.

Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 20, 2001 at R. T. FOARD & JONES FUNERAL HOME, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o R. T. FOARD & JONES FUNERAL HOME, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.

Dellinger, Anne E.G.

Anne E.G. Dellinger of Dover died Thursday, August 16, 2001 in Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was76.

Mrs. Dellinger was born in Drexel Hill, PA on July 11, 1925 to the late Harrison Herbert and Margaret Wolfe George.

She had worked as a waitress for more than 10 years at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Smyrna. She had also worked as a cashier/clerk for 10 years at Shoppers Fair in New Castle.

Mrs. Dellinger enjoyed pro wrestling, NASCAR, and baseball, especially the Orioles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin S. Dellinger, on May 11, 1979.

Mrs. Dellinger is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Anderson of Dover and Frank H. Anderson of New Castle; a daughter, Joyce Gorman of Dover; two brothers, William George of Tempe, AZ and Howard George of Folcroft, PA; a sister, Louise Anderson of New Castle; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11AM Monday, August 20, 2001 in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call from 10AM to 11AM. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Petroski, Theodore

Theodore Petroski of Leipsic died Saturday, August 11, 2001 in Mercy Community Hospital in Haverford, PA. He was 65.

Mr. Petroski was born in Plymouth, PA on April 27, 1936 to the late Edward and Helen (Belzo) Petroski. He moved from Plymouth, PA to Delaware in 1956.

He was self-employed and had worked as a HVAC Maintenance Mechanic, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Petroski was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Petroski and Sylvester Petroski and a sister, Helen Sherlock.

He is survived by a son, Theodore "Ted" S. Petroskie of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Trixie Petroski of Hawaii and Arnett Luce of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Leonard Petroski of Chicanny, PA; a sister, Lillian Elliot of Jupiter, FL; and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, August 16, 2001 in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call from 10 AM to Noon. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Barnes, Lida Marie

Lida Marie Barnes of Smyrna, Delaware, formerly of Harrington, Delaware, died Sunday February 25, 2001 in IHS of Delaware Nursing Home, Smyrna, Delaware.

She was 81.

Mrs. Barnes was born April 6, 1919 in Sandtown, Delaware, the daughter of the late Issac D. and Mable Meredith Harper.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed going to church and the Harrington Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Barnes and a sister, Elizabeth Barnes.

She is survived by a brother, Meredith J. Harper of New Castle, Delaware;

An aunt, Margaret Meredith of Lewes, Delaware;

4 nieces, Beverly Joyce Taylor of New Castle, Delaware; Jacqualine E. Sturgis of Bear, Delaware; Patricia Hadley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Edith Whitesill of Wilmington, Delaware and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday March 1, 2001 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
