Marge Vallone

Age 74, passed away, Friday, January 2, 2004 in the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Marge was born March 30, 1929 in New York and moved to Delaware in the mid 1950's. She retired from JC Penny Co. in 1992 and most recently worked at Three Little Baker's.

Marge is survived by her son Garrett M. Vallone and his wife Diane; her daughter Kim L. Sadowski and her husband Peter F.; her 3 beautiful granddaughters, Jennifer N and Melanie M. Vallone and Katelyn Saddowski; as well as her "grand dogs" Alex and Cheyenne. Marge was predeceased in death by her son, Wayne J. Vallone who died in 1977.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at St. James Episcopal Church, Millcreek, 2106 St. James Church Road, Delpark Manor, on Wednesday evening, January 7, 2004 at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franciscan Care Center, 100 St. Claire Drive, Hockessin, DE 19707.

Angelo F. Tiburzi

Age 87, died peacefully, Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Millcroft Sunrise Senior Living Center, Newark, DE.

Angelo was born in Baltimore, MD and was the eldest living of 16 children. He worked for several years at the General Motors assembly plant in Baltimore, then in Newport. Later he worked for the Chrysler assembly plant in Newark, where he retired in 1975, as the assembly line supervisor.

Angelo was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima R. C. Church and a charter member of Cavalier Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Catherine M. (Blackburn) Tiburzi, who died in Oct. of 2000. He is survived by brothers, Mike, Henry, Jimmy, Joe, and Frank Tiburzi; and sisters Carmela Markwordt, and Yolanda Bevan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima R. C. Church, 801 DuPont Blvd., Wilmington Manor, New Castle, on Mon. Jan. 19th at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 a.m. Entombment in the Rosary Garden Crypt, All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Angelo's name to Val's Needy Fund, Inc., 16 Lee Dr., Wilmington, DE 19808.

Walter Bamford McKendrick, Jr.

October 8, 1914 - January 31, 2004

Mr. Walter Bamford McKendrick, Jr., age 89, of Anderson, SC, died Saturday, January 31, 2004 at his residence.

He was born in Wilmington, DE on October 8, 1914 and was the son of the late Watler Bamford McKendrick, Sr. and Maude Nelson Asquith McKendrick. Mr. McKendrick was a graduate of the University of Delaware and Yale University. He was first employed in Dover, DE with State Highway Department of Delaware from 1936-1956 in many capacities including rodman, inspector, traffic engineer, planning engineer, and reaching the top post of Chief Engineer. He became Project Director, AASHO Road Test conducted in Ottawa, IL, by the Highway Research Board, National Academy of Sciences from 1956 to 1962. After completing the Road Test assignment in 1962, Walt McKendrick joined the Portland Cement Association, Wilmette, IL, and was a part of the association until 1974. From 1974 to 1979, he was employed with the Federal Highway Administration of the United States Department of Transportation, Washington DC as Chief of their Foreign Projects Division. As an Engineer, he excelled in mathematics, loved finance, and was an avid bridge and gin player. Upon retirement in 1979, Mr. McKendrick and his wife, Ruth Vera "Sue" McKendrick moved to Anderson, SC. His memberships include the First Presbyterian Church and the Golden K Club.

Mr. McKendrick is survived by his wife, Ruth Vera "Sue" McKendrick of the home; a daughter, Judith Lee Nickey of Sunnyvale, CA; a son, Douglas Wayne McKendrick of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Colonel (USAF Retired) Howard Raymond McKendrick of Aiken, SC. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6th at 2 PM at the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle, DE where interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624.

Malandruccolo, Lorraine

Lorraine Malandruccolo, Age 71, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, February 20, 2004 at Kentmere Nursing Home.

She is survived by her friends and guardians at IKOR.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 11 am in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2306 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Simmons, Eileen V.

Eileen V. (Pike) Simmons "Ginny", Age 82, of Newark, DE formerly of New Castle, DE passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at home.

Mrs. Simmons had worked as a waitress for most of her career, work-ing at the M&M Diner at Hares Corner for several years. Mrs. Simmons had also worked at the Bellanca Airport in New Castle and for Asbury United Methodist Church, also in New Castle. Mrs. Simmons was an active member of the Women of The Moose Lodge #1418 New Castle Chapter where she was also employed as a barmaid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard S. Pike and Marion V. (Clark) Pike; sisters, Myrtle Pike, Marion Moore, Phyllis Barcus; brother, Lawrence Pike; great granddaughter, Bethany L. McNally; and great grandson, Joseph Groff. Survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Albert W. Simmons; children, Phyllis V. Brainard and her husband, John, Sr. of Milton, DE, Nancy R. Polus and her husband, Tom of New Castle, Teddy R. Harrison, Jr. and his wife, Susie of Laurel, DE; stepchildren, Patricia K. Locosta of New Brunswick, NJ and Albert Terry Simmons of Felton, DE; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; 34 nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 27, 2004 at 11 am at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle. Friends may call Thursday evening February 26th at the funeral home from 7-9 pm where a Women of The Moose Ritual will be held at 7:30 pm. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808.

Hamburg II, Wiliam E. "Eddie"

William E. "Eddie" Hamburg II of Smyrna, Delaware, died at home Thursday March 18, 2004.

He was 65.

Mr. Hamburg was born December 31, 1938 in Dover, Delaware, the son of the late William E. and Molly Baggs Hamburg.

Eddie was the supervisor of the street, water and sewer department for the Town of Smyrna for 32 years before retiring in 2000.

He was a Past Master of Harmony Lodge #13 AF&AM in Smyrna.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Getty; 2 sons, William E. Hamburg III and Richard S. Hamburg, both of Smyrna; a daughter, Lisa I. Startt of Dover, Delaware and 3 grandchildren.

Services will be Monday March 22, 2004 at 11AM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9PM.

Masonic services will be Sunday at 7:30PM.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors, Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Daniels, Jr., Frank

FELTON—Frank Daniels, Jr. of Felton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 19, 2004. He was 72.

Mr. Daniels was born on January 9, 1932 in Freeburn, Kentucky, son of the late Frank and Jossie (Stevens) Daniels.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Daniels was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Seaford. He also was a member of the Local Carpenters Union 626.

He enjoyed woodworking and going to the slots.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers William R. and Franklin D. Daniels; two sisters Alma F. Mollier and Ersia Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Anna Z. Daniels, four daughters Joann Daniels, Sandra Roumillat and her husband Andy of Felton, Anna May Ingram of Moorhead, KY and Shirley Cole of Magnolia, a brother John G. Daniels of Felton, four sisters Ruth McClain of Dover, Helen Devlin of Viola, Ellen Glanden of Willow Grove and Phyllis Daniels of Lewes, four grandsons Troy Cole of Magnolia, Jonathan Cole of Woodside, Adam Cole of Woodside and Bradley Scott Ingram of Moorehead, KY and two granddaughters Jennifer Brigham of Severn, MD and Rebecca Ingram of KY

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.

ELIZABETH S. SINES

Age 78, of Elsmere, died Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital.

Lib was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Corpus Christi R.C. Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Earl J. Sines who died in July of 1990. She is survived by her son, Jonathan N. “Jack” Sines and his wife Cheryl of Wilmington; her sisters Mary Dempsey of Rising Sun, MD, Genevieve Arthur of Nottingham, PA, Irene Kirtscher of Havre de Grace, MD; and also her beloved grandchildren Kristin, Stacy, and Tory.

Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 14th, at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14th. Interment will be at the Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Red Cross, Terrorist Attack Rescue Effort, 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
