George J. Westcott

Age 71 of Seaford, DE, died on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

George was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 30, 1937, the son of George E. and Eleanor (Smith) Westcott. Raised in Penns Grove, NJ he was a graduate of Penns Grove Regional High School and was president of the Class of 1955. Mr. Westcott, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, graduated from the University of Delaware in 1963. He worked in quality control management, marketing and technical marketing for the DuPont Company for 34 years, retiring in 1996. He then worked eight years for Milliken and Co. as well as owning his own consulting firm.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine; 2 daughters, Kimberly Ann Westcott of Lewes, DE, Kristen Mitchell and her husband Benjamin of Lewes, DE. He is also survived by 1 grandson, Benjamin Richard Mitchell III (Trey) of Lewes, DE; a sister, Patricia Green and her husband Tomway of Bridgeton, NJ; brothers-in-law, Charles W. Back Sr. and his wife Charlotte of Albuquerque, NM, Walter R. Back of Lakeland, FL, and Calvin L. Back Sr. and his wife Marguerite of Cape May Courthouse, NJ, many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 26, at 11 am, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 315 High Street, Seaford, DE. Interment will be at the Veteran's Cemetery, Millsboro, DE at 2 pm, Thursday.

In lieu of flowers it would honor the memory of George to contribute to The American Heart Association, Pennsylvania/Delaware Affiliate, 625 West Ridge Pike, Suite A-100, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0860 and the American Cancer Society, Mid-Atlantic Division, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Age 87, of Greenwood, DE, died Fri, Feb 20, 2009. Viewing 5-7 pm, Thurs., Feb. 26, Lofland FH, 102 Lakeview Ave, Milford. Services, 1 pm, Fri., Glenn Dale UM Church, 8500 Springfield Rd, Glenn Dale.

Mary Rose Alexander

Age 84, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2009.

Mary was born in Wilmington, DE on February 2, 1925. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School in the class of 1943. Mary went on to study nursing and graduated from the Delaware School of Nursing in 1946. She was also a member of the US Cadet Nurse Core. Her service as a nurse took her to Los Angeles, CA in the fall of 1948 to help assist in the worst polio epidemic in US history. She became registered to practice nursing in New York City on December 7, 1952. Mary loved flowers and was presented a certificate of merit, from the mayor of Wilmington for turning a vacant city lot into a beautiful garden.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Tito and Rose Giacchi. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert H. Alexander of New York. Survivors also include 4 sisters, Alice Labazzo, Betty Syvy, Esther Micucio and Martha Grabowski and a brother, Joseph Labozzo.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Odyssey Healthcare for their outstanding care during such a difficult time.

A memorial service will be held at Family Life Church, 430 Century Blvd., Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, March 3, at 11 am and visitation before the service at 10 am. Burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Family Life Church.

James Biscoe

Age 86, of Elsmere, DE, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital.

Jim, the son of the late Elwood and Mary Biscoe, was born September 23, 1922 in Wilmington, DE. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Forces during WWII. He owned and worked for Biscoe's Body Shop Company until 1984. Jim then worked for the Emily Bissell Hospital for 20 years.

Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Biscoe; 3 sons, James Biscoe, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Wilmington, DE, Gary Biscoe and his wife Linda of Chestertown, MD, and Jeffrey Biscoe of Elsmere, DE; 3 grandchildren, Michele Meeks and her husband Dennis of Chestertown, MD, and Jamie and Jordan Biscoe, both of Wilmington, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 1pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30am to 1pm. Interment in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

KRIENEN-GRIFFITH FUNERAL HOME

Glenn J. Campbell

Age 47 of Dover, DE, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009.

Glenn was born in Port Chester, New York. He has resided in Delaware for over 20 years where he was a Machine Operator.

Glenn is survived by his loving parents, James and Margaret (Shields) Campbell of Newark, DE. Glenn is also survived by a brother, Robert Campbell and his wife Jeannie and nephew, Robbie; 2 sisters, Eleanor Ungemack and her husband Curt; and Margaret Ferm and her husband John; aunt, Eleanor Shields; 2 uncles, John and William Campbell.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 from 5:30-7 pm, followed by a service in celebration of Glenn's Life at 7 pm. Burial will be private.

Helen F. Conard

Of Elkton, MD, age 68, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Union Hospital. Service, 1 pm, Tuesday, March 3, at Gee Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD. Friends may call after 11 am, prior to the service.

Marian E. Cram

Age 82, of North East, MD, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, February 27, 2009.

Born in Rahway, NJ, Marian was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Innocenti) Buchinsky. Marian enjoyed a happy and full life. She was retired from Delaware Trust Bank, where she spent many years as an Executive Secretary in the commercial loan department. She enjoyed her retirement and traveling with her husband Russell Robert Cram Sr, and spent many winter months in Arizona. She loved being around the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was able to spend her last years at home with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Cram, of 54 years and her brothers, Edward and Charles Buchinsky. She is survived and will be missed by her sister, Charlotte West of Gore Virginia. Marian will be dearly missed by her daughter, Eleanor Marian Hirneisen and her husband, John; her son, Russell Robert Cram Jr.; her grandchildren, Barry Williams, Nicole and Christopher Wardius, Jon and Nikki Hirneisen, Russ B. and Ryan Cram; and her 5 great-grandchildren; Marc and Allison Williams, Carly and Clay Wardius, and Kylie Hirneisen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, at 2 pm, at the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Visitation after 1 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Community Hospice of Maryland, 9940 Franklin Square Drive, Suite K , Nottingham, MD 21236.

Clyde E. Fleagle, Sr.

Clyde E. Fleagle, Sr., age 76, of Bear, DE passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at home.

Mr. Fleagle was born on February 22, 1933 in Upper Darby, PA to the late James and Elizabeth Fleagle.

He is survived by his sons, Clyde E. Fleagle and his wife Danielle of Bear, DE and Tony Fleagle and his wife Tina of Los Angeles, CA; stepson, Paul Meigio and his wife Jody of Idaho; brother, George Fleagle of Upper Chichester, PA; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Fleagle.

Services will be private at Delaware Veterans Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Edward Smith Piper "Ned"

Mr. Edward ("Ned") Smith Piper, age 50, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 21, 2008.

Born in Wilmington on August 23, 1958, Ned was a graduate of A.I. duPont High School. He was an automobile mechanic by profession and had been employed at various locations over the years including Hockessin Goodyear and Martin Honda. Ned was a generous, loving man whose kindness was reflected in the pleasure he took in helping others. He loved music, had a sharp wit, and possessed encyclopedic knowledge on a broad range of subjects. Ned was a founding member of the long-running Turkey Bowl football game played annually on Thanksgiving in Rockford Park. Ned was devoted to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Mullinax Piper; son, Cullen R. Piper of Newark, DE; parents, William H. Piper and Rosemary Smith Piper of Boston, MA; brother, David H. Piper of Thousand Oaks, CA; sisters, Mary Beth Borré and Claudia Piper, both of Boston, MA; and several nieces and nephews in California, Massachusetts, and Salisbury, England.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am, on Tuesday, December 30, at St. John the Baptist RC Church, E. Main and N. Chapel Streets, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, P. O. Box 352, Wilmington, DE 19899.

SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY

Margaret R. Protack

Mrs. Margaret Rose Protack, 75 of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008.

Margaret was born on March 28, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to James and Rose Margaret (Geary) Turney. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951 and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. On April 16, 1955, she married Michael Protack, Jr. Margaret received her B.S., P.A. in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph's College in 1981. She was a registered nurse at Wilmington Hospital, a private duty nurse and lastly an occupational health nurse. Margaret was also an accomplished astrologer which included teaching classes, counseling, being televised and published.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Michael Protack, Jr. in 1999; and her brother, Donald Turney in 1987. Surviving are her 4 daughters and 1 son, Margaret E. Protack, Marianne C. Carter, Eva Maureen Protack-Cooke, Monica R. Hall (James) and Matthew M. Protack (Nicole); 9 grandchildren; her sisters and brother, Cecilia Ann Ayers, Alyn Soo-Eiler, Jeannie Miller and Daniel Soo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., Wilmington on Wednesday, December 31 at 11:30am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church prior to Mass on Wednesday from 10:30- 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington, DC 20007 (or online at arthritis.org) or to the American Diabetes Assoc., PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22313 (or online at diabetes.org).
