David Jackson

David Jackson age 57 passed away on January 28, 2009 at the Christiana Hospital.

David was born in the Bronx, NY on October 17, 1951. He was the son of Levern Jackson and the late Rachel Biggs Jackson. David graduated from Dutchess Community College and became an engineer for IBM working in Poughkeepsie, NY and Austin, TX. After a career spanning 28 years, David went on to Inventory Control at Dade Behring in New Castle, DE.

David will be greatly missed by his wife Gloria Jackson and his 3 children, Pamela Hamman, Lettice Washington, and David T. Jackson. He is also survived by his siblings, Levern, Shirley, Allen, Randy, Calvin, and Antionette Jackson, as well as 6 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Monday February 2, 2009 at 2 pm. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 1 pm. Burial will be private at a later date. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.

Albert Paul Kafigian

Albert Paul Kafigian, age 66 of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on January 29, 2009 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA. He was the husband of Ann Winchester Kafigian, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.

Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, he was the son of Janet Ferry Bowersox of Virginia Beach, VA and the late Albert Kafigian. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Albert was a sales associate at Macy's in the Concord Mall, Wilmington, DE. He enjoyed fishing, music, and watching movies. Albert was a drummer for 20 years in the J.J. Rose Quartet.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 1 son, Douglas Kafigian and 1 daughter, Nicole Kafigian, a step son, Benjamin Myers of Sterling Heights, MI; 2 brothers, Phillip Kafigian of Virginia Beach, VA and Peter Kafigian of Exmore, VA; a sister, Patti Schultz of Bloomville, OH; and by 3 grandchildren.

You are invited to visit with Albert's family and friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 1-3 pm at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA. His funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Interment will be private.

Contributions may be made in Albert's memory to the SPCA of Chester County, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.

Thomas M. Lazar

Mr. Thomas M. Lazar, 50, of Sarver, PA, passed away at 9 am, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Sewickley Hospital, Sewickley, PA.

Thomas was born in Wilmington, DE on February 5, 1958, the son of Thomas and Irene (Sharp) Lazar of Wilmington, NC. He worked as a Develop-ment Director for the Light of Life Rescue Mission in Pittsburgh, for the past 4 years. Tom had previously worked for PNC Bank in Pittsburgh for 18 years. Tom enjoyed playing golf, reading,watching baseball, playing softball, traveling, listening to music and singing.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sandra S. (Michener) Lazar and his daughter, Nicole R. Lazar. Tom is also survived by his 2 sisters, Rene (Stephen) Lazar-McCann of Wilmington, NC, and Claudia J. Lazar of Huntington Beach, CA.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday January 31 from 6-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA 16229. A Funeral Service will be held at the Evangel Heights Assembly of God Church on Beale Rd. in Sarver, PA, at 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 1, with Rev. John Kuert, officiating. Burial will be held in Freeport Cemetery.

Beverly J. Mahan

Age 62, of Newark, DE died on January 28, 2009.

Beverly was born to the late Charles A. Keenan and raised in Wilmington, DE. In her work life, Beverly was the Office Manager for Dr. Stewart Septimus, M.D. for 28 years. In her social life, Beverly was very active in Wilmington bowling, where she bowled in many local and state tournaments. She was a member of the WIBC, USBC and the WWBA. She served as V.P. of the USBCWWBA, Director of the WWBA, Secretary of the KISS League, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wilmington 600 Club and Secretary/Treasurer for numerous other leagues. She was inducted into the Wilmington USBC WBA Hall of Fame on Oct 18, 2008. She was also an active member in the Moose Lodge for 33 years and served as Senior Regent.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond C. Sharp Jr. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth C. Keenan, her husband, Robert J. Mahan, her 5 children, Dolores Reeves, Jefferson Scales, Elizabeth Willis, Paula Wisneski and Beverly Bishop; 5 step-children, Raymond Sharp III, Carol Grau, Robert Mahan, Jr., Melissa Whitehead and Michael Mahan. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Wayne Bacon Sr., Robert Bell and Tommy Russum. She also leaves to cherish her memory, 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, February 1 at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, February 2, where friends are invited to call after 9 am. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Beverly's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,100 W. 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Anne "Irish" Marchlik (Quinn)

Died January 28, 2009 in Collingswood, NJ.

Devoted and much-loved wife, sister, mother, granny, neighbor, crafter and friend. Born in Chester, PA and raised in Delaware County, Anne served the WWII effort at the Gates Rubber Company in Denver, CO. Returning to the Delaware County area, she raised her children, served as a Girl Scout leader, was active in St. Joseph's Parish in Aston, PA, worked part-time with several companies, and retired to southern Delaware in 1983. There, she became active in the Beebe Hospital Auxiliary and craft group. An expert seamstress and quilter, she was active in raising funds for Beebe through the annual craft show and was a member of St. Jude The Apostle Parish in Lewes, DE.

married for 65 years to Victor; sister of Sister Thomasann, OSF; mother of Eileen Rehrmann of Baltimore, MD; Vicki (Terry) Lunghofer of Graham, WA; Marianne (David) Virgilio of Brockport, NY; Dianne (Steve) Miller of Westmont, NJ; Mike (Jo Ann) Marchlik of Ridgewood, NJ; and Lisa (Pat) Lloyd of Pennsville, NJ; Granny to 16 grandchildren and Great-Granny to 5.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 2, 11am, at St. Jude The Apostle Church, Delaware Route 1 North of Five Points, Lewes, DE. Friends may call at the church on Monday beginning at 10am. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by PARSELL FUNERAL ENTERPRISES, INC., Lewes, DE.

Contributions may be made to the Assisi House, c/o Franciscan Ministries Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014 or to a charity of choice.

Martha R. Wagner

Died January 27, 2009. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. Celebration of her life will be held this Spring.

Frances G. Burns

Frances Ellen (Grimm) Burns, 81 of Wilmington and Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2009.

A native Wilmingtonian, Frances was predeceased by her husband, John L. Burns, Sr. and her daughter, Betsy. Frances is survived by her son, John L. Burns, Jr. and his wife, Kim; her daughter, Suzie Troupe and her husband, Mark; and 4 grandchildren, Emilie and Cydney Troupe and John L., III and Shane Donegal Burns.

The funeral service will be conducted at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Friday, February 6, at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, from 6 - 8 pm.

Marie Delphine duPont Davies

Marie Delphine duPont Davies went from this world to the next on February 5, 2009 at the age of 92. She led a full and comfortable life from her birth in 1916.

Delphine was a twin born to Marianna Rhett and her husband, Francis I. DuPont. Her twin, Marianna, predeceased her. She was tutored at home in early life then attended the Shipley School where the twins graduated. Delphine went on to attend art school in Boston. She married Taleasin Hadyn Davies in September 1939. She was an avid horseback rider all of her life having ponies at the home of her parents at Upper Louviers, Rockland, Delaware and after marriage at Mary Warners and Mt. Harmon, MD. Delphine also greatly enjoyed a summer cottage in Fenwick Island, Delaware. Her primary residence in later years was on Caroline Drive, Brandywine Springs Manor in a 1840s farmhouse. She enjoyed a vegetable garden, flower garden and her John Deere electric rider mower with which she maintained her four-acre property until well into her 80s. Delphine's life touched many people from Friends of Brandywine Springs and the Garden Club of Wilmington. She worked in the Crownenshield Garden at Hagley for many years where she used to play as a child when it was a private garden. She was also a guide at the Delaware Nature Education Society when it was founded. In addition to swimming, she had a passion for sledding on the gentle slope leading to Brandywine Springs Park. A dog was her constant companion throughout her life.

Delphine is survived by 1 daughter, Delphine Davies Johnson who resides in Salem of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews from her brothers, Emile, Edmond and Rhett, and her twin sister Marianna: Francis I. DuPont and wife Betsy of Chadds Ford, PA, Sara duPont Cahill and husband Dr. George of Peterborough, NH, Peter Rhett duPont and wife Jeanie of New York City, Anthony A. duPont and wife Carol of La Joya, CA, Edmond Rhett duPont and wife Clover of Weston, MA, Alfred Rhett duPont and wife Pat of Richmond, VA, Francis I. DuPont III and wife Linda of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Marianna Rhett Glass Crompton of Lynchburg, VA, Alicia Middleton Glass of New York City and numerous grand nephews and nieces. Delphine enjoyed the loyalty and friendship of a resident housekeeper for over 30 years, Hildagard Ciotti who predeceased her.

Burial will be private.

Gregory J. Facciolo

Of Wilmington passed away on Thursday February 5, 2009 in the St. Francis Hospital at the age of 49. He was born in Wilmington, DE the son of James V. and the late Ellen Facciolo.

Gregory and his father owned Facciolo Brothers Construction Company.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was known for his kindness, compassion and dry sense of humor.He is survived by his father James Facciolo of Wilmington, DE and his brother, James Facciolo who lives in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Gregory was very close to his cousins, Raephael Todaro, M.D. (who was more like his loving sister), Jordan Todaro, Janet Facciolo Riter, Carmen Facciolo, David Facciolo, Phillip Facciolo, William Facciolo, William Leonard, Eric Downward, Elliott Downward and Larry Rubin.

He was especially close to his Aunt Rae Todaro (whom he thought of as his second mother), Uncle Andrew Todaro, Aunt Janet Facciolo, Aunt Frances Downward, Aunt Terry Facciolo, and his uncle and godfather, Phillip Facciolo, Sr.

He has joined the Lord and his beloved mother, Ellen.

He will be missed dearly by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. Family and friends are invited to visit with Gregory's family on Monday February 9 from 7-9 pm at BEESON FUNERAL HOME OF WILMINGTON, 412 Philadelphia Pike, (302)764-2900 and again on Tuesday from 12-1pm.

His funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 pm.

Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
