Age 76, of Greenwood, DE died on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro. Graveside service, Saturday, 2 pm February 7, at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.

Mary E. Hunt

Of Smyrna, DE passed away on Thursday February 5, 2009 at the age of 85.

Mary was born in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Mara and Ignatz Tishler.

She is survived by her son James E. Hunt, Jr. and his wife Nancy of New Castle, DE; her daughters, Diane A. LoPresti and her husband Charles of Erie, CO, Jacqueline Fortenbacher, Sherry Mulrooney and Sandra Hunt all of Smyrna, DE; her grandchildren, S. Christine Johnson of Louisville, CO, Leslie A. McKeen of Delran, NJ, Jeffrey P. McCann of Smyrna, DE, Jennifer E. Hunt of New Castle, DE, Brian C. Mulrooney of Millville, DE, Paul J. Mulrooney of Milford, DE, and Haley E. Wells of Smyrna, DE. Mary is predeceased by her husband James E. Hunt, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Mary's family on Monday February 9 from 12-1 pm at BEESON FUNERAL OF NEWARK, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Fox Run (302)453-1900. Her funeral service will be at 1 pm with interment following at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

Evelyn F. Iova

Age 85 of Wilm., DE died Feb. 5, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 am Tues. Feb. 10 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th & Bancroft, Wilm. Visitation, 10-11am Tues. at CHARLES P. ARCARO F.H., 2309 Lancaster Ave., Wilm.

Michael T. Knapp Sr.

Age 53 of Wareham, MA formerly of Wilmington and New Castle, DE died January 27, 2009 at home. Father of Michael T. Knapp Jr. of Pennsylvania and Katelyn Knapp of Delaware. Funeral services and burial are private.

Phyllis L. Miller

Phyllis L. Miller, 49, of Vandalia, MI, passed away at 10pm, Monday, February 2, 2009 in Elkhart General Hospital after a battle with cancer.

Phyllis was born on January 18, 1960 in Elizabethton, TN to Paul and Wyona (Harmon) Proffitt. Phyllis graduated with honors from Ivy Tech College. She worked as a secretary for Moose Lodge of Goshen for many years and most recently worked as a Department Manager at Elder Beerman's in Elkhart.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Timothy Miller of Vandalia, MI; 2 children, Michael (Erica) Ham of West Grove, PA and Patricia (John) Wilson of Quarryville, PA; 2 grandchildren, Maranda Wilson and Jacob Ham. She is also survived by her father, Paul Proffitt of Mountain City, TN; 2 sisters, Diana (Doug) White of Elkhart and Karen (Ben) Perkins of Elkhart and 1 brother, David Proffitt of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Visitation will be held from 10-11am, Monday, February 9, 2009 at the New London Presbyterian Church, 1986 Newark Road(Route 896), New London, PA, with services to follow at 11am at the Church. Burial will be in the New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Arrangements by FOULK & GRIECO FUNERAL HOME, West Grove, PA.

Barbara Ann Montague

Barbara Ann Montague, age 79 of Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, died February 1, 2009 in the Christiana Hospital.

She was born in 1929 in Hagerstown, MD, the daughter of the late Daniel Junkin and Hazel Lehman Montague. She was raised in Coatesville, PA, where she graduated from high school in 1947. She graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, VA in 1951 with a BA degree in chemistry. Miss Montague joined the DuPont Company in 1951 as a chemist at the Experimental Station in the Plastics Research Division, where she authored research articles published in several scientific journals. In 1964, she coordinated development of the company's Central Report Index, where she published several scientific articles and was appointed supervisor in 1967. Miss. Montague was appointed Manager of Information Services in Photo Products International Operations in 1974 and Compensation Consultant in the corporate Human Resources Department in 1980, from which she retired in 1992. Miss Montague was a member of Sigma Xi, the American Chemical Society, in which she held several elected offices, the American Society for Information Science, Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution. She is listed in American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who of Science and Engineering and Who's Who of American Women. She was a member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, elder and Stephen Minister, and sang in the Chancel and Outreach choirs. She sang in the DuPont Chorus and was timpanist of the Wilmington (now Delaware) Symphony, the DuPont Chamber Orchestra and the DuPont Band. She played timpani for the Wilmington Opera Society (now Opera Delaware), the Brandywiners, the Arden Singers and in several churches. She was a member of the University of Delaware's Academy of Lifelong Learning, where she served as a yoga instructor.

Miss Montague is survived by her brother, Lt. Colonel Daniel Junkin Montague, retired; 2 nephews, Theodore Charlton Montague and Timothy Hale Montague, both of Aurora, CO; 2 nieces, Mary Montague Ball of El Paso, TX and Michelle Montague Kissell of Aurora, CO; and 6 grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday February 10, 2009 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKenna's Church Road, Wilmington 19808.

Age 68 of Wilmington, died Feb. 5, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial, 11am, Wed. Feb. 11 at St. Peter's Cathedral, Wilm, DE. Visitation, 6-8pm Tues. Feb. 10 at Charles P. Arcaro FH, 2309 Lancaster Ave. No visitation prior to mass.

Jacqueline A. Rapp

Age 78, of NewCastle, DE passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009.

She is survived by her husband, William A. Rapp, Jr.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately with her family. Arrangements by the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOMES.

M. Louise Turner Shufelt

M. Louise Turner Shufelt of Seaford, DE passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was 81 years old.

She was born April 5, 1927 in Federalsburg, MD, the daughter of the late Lee and Susie Cox Turner. Her husband of 33 years, G. Franklin Shufelt, Jr. whom she married on February 14, 1947, preceded her in death on May 5, 1980. She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School class of 1944. She was a poultry grower for Perdue Farms for many years. She attended the First Baptist Church in Seaford, and was an active member of the Federalsburg Senior Center where she sang with the Federalsburg Serenaders as they sang in area nursing homes. She enjoyed the outings with the Road Runners and gatherings with family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Phillips and her husband, Rick, of Seaford; a grandson, Matt Phillips and Mandy, her granddaughter at heart, of Seaford, "Angel"; the family dog and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Clayton Turner and Earl Turner, and a beloved cousin, Mickey Todd, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 2 pm at the FRAMPTOM FUNERAL HOME in Federalsburg with Pastor Michael Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8pm and on Tuesday from 1-2pm.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy. Unit 101, Rehoboth, DE 19971 or to the Federalsburg Senior Center, 118 N. Main St., Federalsburg, MD 21632.

Greta (Park) Van Aalten

Greta (Park) Van Aalten, age 93, of Ocean View, DE, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009.

She was born March 13, 1915 in Amsterdam, Holland, daughter of the late Isaac and Beetja Park. She survived the Holocaust in France and came to the U.S. in 1946. Mrs. Van Aalten was the president of Hadassah from 1980-1985. She was an avid reader and a fan of tennis, bowling, and the New York Mets Baseball Team. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, Scrabble, and bridge.

She is survived by 2 sons, William Van Aalten of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Franklin William Van Aalten of Boca Raton, FL; daughter, Beatrice Horn and her husband Lee of Ocean View, DE; 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Louis Cohen and his wife Beth of Wantagh, NY, Robin Jean Boehm of Wantagh, NY, Barbara Lynn Salony and her husband Ken of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Craig Van Aalten and his wife Maryann of Dix Hills, NY, and Jennifer McDonald and her husband John of Tacoma, WA; and 7 great-grandchildren: Adam Cohen, Ian Cohen, Samuel Seigel, Laura Boehm, Harrison McDonald, Noah McDonald, and Liam Van Aalten. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Van Aalten and grandson Douglas Van Aalten.

Services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 9am at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes, DE. Shiva will be observed from Sunday to Tuesday at the residence of Lee and Beatrice Horn.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Seaside Jewish Community Center, PO Box 1472, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Christine Godfrey Whaley

Christine Godfrey Whaley of Dagsboro died peacefully at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the age of 57.

Chris was the daughter of the late Preston Godfrey, Sr., and the late Hilda Parker Godfrey, of Millsboro. She joined Perdue Farms Incorporated in 1976 and was instrumental in the development of the marketing services team, providing sales and marketing support in the areas of public relations, consumer promotions, consumer relations and sports marketing.

Over the years she was also responsible for hosting numerous customer tours and industry events, and most recently led the team to restore the Perdue Family Farmhouse in Salisbury, MD.

In mourning her passing, a friend wrote "Chris was one of those rare people that touches your life once and then works her way into your heart forever." Never one to take without giving much more in return, Chris will be dearly missed by her extended family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Chris is survived by her daughters and their families: Kimberly and Daniel King of Berlin, MD, and their children Berkeley, Daniel and Ascher; Tiffany and Mark Smith of Seaford, DE, and their sons Hunter and Christian; stepdaughter Robyn McEwen, husband Sam and children Ashlyn and Brett. She is also survived by her sisters Lorraine Weatherford of Midlothian, VA, and her husband, Bob; Dawn Godfrey of Rehoboth, DE, and her friend Dave Urian; Robin Godfrey of Wilmington, DE; and her brother, Preston E. Godfrey, Jr., and his wife Betsy. Additional survivors include many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 10, at WATSON'S FUNERAL HOME in Millsboro, DE. Visitation with the family will be held from 11am-1pm, and internment in Millsboro Cemetery will follow the service.

Contributions in memory of Chris may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Women Supporting Women (106 Circle Ave # 101, Salisbury, MD 21801) or the charity of your choice.
