Thomas Fritzmaurice Brady

Age 80, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2008, at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Kenvil, NJ on April 30, 1928, Tom was the son of the late James P. and Mary E. (Johnson) Brady. He graduated from AI DuPont High School and attended Penn State and the University of Delaware, earning an Associates Degree. He owned and was president of Holiday on Wheels, a trailer and RV Sales and Service facility in Shohola PA.

Tom will be dearly missed by his wife, Mildred "Cis" Brady; his son, Thomas P. Brady and his wife, Jeannett of Greeley, PA; his daughters, C. Kay Duncan and her husband, Raymond of Wilmington, DE and P. Kim Hall and her husband, Joseph of Wilmington, DE; and his grandchildren, Thomas P. Brady, Jr. of Rowlett, TX, C. Heather Ice of McDonough, GA, Scott Duncan of Marshallton, DE, Brian S. Brady of Greeley, PA, Siobain Malandruccolo of Gainsville, GA, Joseph Hall, Jr. of Wilmington, DE and Jonathan Hall of Wilmington, DE. Also surviving is his sister Millicent Ogorek; 11 great grandchildren; and his faithful friend, Duke the dog.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 1 pm, at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where visitation will begin after 12 noon. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Pacem in Terris, 1304 Rodney Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.

Alexis I. Downes

Alexis I. Downes, age 3, of Laurel, DE passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on October 18, 2008.

Alexis was born in Seaford on October 19, 2004 a daughter of Lacey Rash and Curtis Downes. She was a beautiful little girl full of personality. She loved to dress up and play princess. She will always be remembered for her radiant smile, and the gift of charming everyone she met. Alexis was an avid Hannah Montana fan, but her biggest fans were her little sister "Dakota", and her cousin Annika Price whom she considered her best friend.

In addition to her mother and biological father, she is survived by her sister, Dakota Meyers; her "Daddy" Aaron Meyers, Jr.; her maternal grandmother, "Mom Mom Dal" Gail Rash of Laurel; and her grandfather, Steve Rash of Milford; her paternal grandfather, Aaron "Pop Pop" Meyers and " Mom Mom" Cindy Meyers of Delmar; a great grandmother, Betty Lucas of Laurel; and a great grandmother , Judy Meyers of Delmar; a great grandmother, Norma Harrison of Georgetown; her aunts, Brandy Rash, Candy Price and Janet Bradshaw. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Joe Lucas and an uncle, Austin.

A Funeral Service will be held at the HANNIGAN, SHORT, DISHAROON FUNERAL HOME, 700 West St. Laurel, DE 19956 on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 2 pm, where a viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dale Evans and Pastor Michael Thompson will officiate. Internment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Rose M. Eskridge

Age 57, of Newark, DE, passed away October 21, 2008. Funeral service, 2 pm, Saturday, October 25, Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown, DE; visitation, 2 hours prior.

Grace Lingo Baker

Grace Lingo Baker, 89, of Millsboro, DE passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Methodist Manor House, Seaford, DE, in the company of her devoted husband of 67 years, Charles Roland Baker and youngest son, Daniel.

Born in Dagsboro, DE, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ora Cannon Lingo. Grace attended Millsboro High School where she played basketball and then graduated from Juniata College where she earned her B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts. She taught Latin and French before her marriage. In 1941 she married Charles just prior to his Marine Corps assignment in the Pacific during WWII. Due to her husband's military assignments, Grace with her husband and children, lived in China, England, and various parts of the United States, before settling with their children in Falls Church, VA in 1963 where Charles became assistant principal of George Marshall High School. After her husband's retirement from the school system they returned to Millsboro to Grace's family home. Grace was known for her volunteer work and hospitality as well as her love of cooking, gardening, bowling, golf, cards, and word games. She was a lifetime member of Sussex Pines Country Club. She passed her enthusiasm and zest for life to her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Grace is survived by her 4 loving children and their spouses; Donald and Carol Baker of Mesa, Arizona, Richard and Sandra Baker of Walkersville, MD, Daniel and Rebecca Baker of Great Falls, VA, and Brenda and Michael Mayer of Weems, VA; a brother, Raymond Dee Lingo and his wife Ruth of Millsboro, DE; 8 grandchildren, Carolyn Remsburg, Julie Gurnee, Katie Grace and Charles Baker, Jeffrey and Julie Grace Baker, and Megan and Andi Mayer; 2 great granddaughters, Taylor Marie Remsburg and Willa Grace Baker. Grace was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia Griffith and Bertha Mae Vickers.

A Funeral Service in memory of Grace will be 11 am, Saturday, October 25 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, DE where friends are invited 1 hour before the service. Rev. Ed Kuhling will officiate. Interment in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, PO BOB 566, Millsboro, DE 19966.

Ann Eleanor Brown

Age 82, passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 2008, at Heartland Hospice House.

Born in Pittston, PA she was the daughter of Eleanora and Allessandro Sabbatini. She graduated from Dallas Twp. HS, Dallas, PA. Ann lived in Ridley Park, PA and worked for Red Coach Inn Restaurant as an executive secretary for Glen Mills School and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. In the 1980's she and her husband moved to Lewes, DE and she worked as a secretary and later a hostess for the Lamp Post Restaurant. She loved boating, the beach, gardening and cooking for her family and friends.

Ann was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John E. Brown; and her brothers, Leroy and Angelo Sabbatini. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Riemenschneider and her husband Bill of Newark, DE and Aura Lee Buckworth and her husband Bill of Selbyville, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, William Riemenschneider and his wife Anne of Charlestown, WV, Kurt Schwichow of Philadelphia, Stacey Reimenschneider of Bear, DE and Dana McCarnan and her husband Darren of Northeast , MD; and 2 great-grandsons, Mark Riemenschneider and Robbie McCarnan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care, Pike Creek for their care and kindness to Ann for the last 7 years. Burial will be private.

Contributions may be made in Ann's name to the Alzheimers Association, Delaware Chapter, 1005 Main St., #011, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Florence E. "Babe" (Sweeny) Calloway

Age 80, of Middletown, DE died Tuesday at the Broadmeadow Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. John's Chapter #4 for 46 years and was a current member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Namoi Chapter # 11.

Florence was married to William C. Calloway Sr. for over 52 years until his death in 1998. She was predeceased by her grandson, Steven Beckley who died in 1993. She is survived by her sons, William C. Calloway Jr., with whom she lived and Arthur J. Calloway of Middletown and his wife Candace; daughters, Ellen Mucha and her husband Edward of Lewis, Beverly J. Beckley and her husband James of New Castle; her sisters, Irene Burris of Georgia, Josephine Garrett of Maryland, Francis Nowakowski of Bear and Vada Lockerman of Hockessin and her brother, Thomas Sweeny of Newark. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 26 from 6-8 pm with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 pm in the McCrery Memorial Chapel, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 27 at 11 am where friends may call after 10 am. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Highway, Wilmington.

Leroy Cox

Leroy Cox, age 75, of Hartly, DE died Tuesday October 21, 2008 at home. Graveside services will be held 1pm Tuesday October 28, 2008 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.

Gary A. Carmean

Age 56, of Laurel, DE, passed away on November 28, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD.

Gary was born in Seaford, a son of the late Lewis and Iva Carmean. A brother, Charles D. Carmean also preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Laurel High School class of 1970 and later graduated from the Universary of Delaware class of 1974. Gary was a poultry and grain farmer owning and operating Chicken Little Farms in Laurel. He was a member of the Laurel American Legion Post #19, Delaware Farm Bureau, and the Laurel Grain. Mr. Carmean's memory will be cherished by his many hunting and fishing friends. He will also be remembered by his family for being a wonderful brother, husband, and father.

He is survived by his wife, Connie D. Carmean and his son, Matthew L. Carmean, both of Laurel; his sisters, Nancy Allen and her husband Larry of Laurel and Lois West and her husband Ray of Millville; and several nieces and nephews also survive him.

A funeral service will be held at the HANNIGAN, SHORT, DISHAROON FUNERAL HOME, 700 West St. Laurel, Delaware 19956 on Tuesday December 2, at 3 pm, where a visitation will be held from 1-3 pm. The Rev. Ken Athey will officiate. Internment will follow in Laurel's Odd Fellows Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Laurel Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 382 Laurel, DE. 19956.

Hazel Lee Conaway

Age 89, of Seaford, DE, died November 26, 2008. Services, 11 am, Tuesday, December 2, at Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, DE. Viewing, 1 hour prior. Interment, Wicomico Memorial Park.

Harriot Faulkner

Gibson

Harriot Faulkner Gibson passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2008.

Harriot was born in Wilmington, DE on April 19, 1918. She was married to her husband John A. Gibson, for 46 years until his death in 1986. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and the University of Wisconsin. She did graduate work at the University of Maryland and Temple University. Harriot was a founding member of the Young Women's Civic Club in North East, MD. She volunteered as a docent at Winterthur Museum for 10 years. She was an avid Bridge player becoming a Bronze Life Master. Harriot also had a passion for travel. During her golden years, she traveled to many places around the world with her loving companion Whit Avery until his passing in 2001.

She is survived by her 3 children: a daughter, Carolyn Acker and husband William of Churchville, MD and her 2 sons, David Gibson and wife Millie of Woodbridge, CT; Ross Gibson and wife Deborah of North East, MD. She is also survived by 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. Harriot Gibson will be greatly missed by her family and her many endearing friends.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
