Grace W. Pierce-Beck
Grace W. Pierce-Beck, 82, Muirfield Court, Dover, DE,passed away Sunday October 05, 2008 at Capital Nursing Center Dover.
She was born on May 09, 1926 in Coatesville, PA to the late Jacob and Grace Wallace Wagner. Early years were spent in Coatesville and Wilmington with many summers on the Chesapeake sharing her childhood were her brother Jacob Phillip Wagner, who is now deceased, and her sister Patricia Anne who survives her. She later lived in Dover and spent summers in Slaughters Beach on the Delaware Bay, leading her to al tribute her love of nature to having "spent my life between two bays". She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Dover. She is a 59 year resident of Delaware. After graduating from Coatesville High School and attended Goldey Beacom and got her secretarial degree. She worked for the DuPont Co. Marrying her childhood sweetheart Willard Lemar Pierce a Pharmacist and they owned and operated Pierce's Pharmacies till his death in 1978. Raising there family in Dover with him also teaching Sunday School at the Presbyterian Church of Dover and was founding members of Kent Swim Club. She was inducted into the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame in March 2008, she was credited with inspiring the 20 year court battle between the Natural Resources Defense Counsel and the Delaware Audubon Society against Texaco. The case resulted in the largest citizen's suit settlement in Delaware history. She gracefully insisting that the award really belongs to all the people of Delaware, women and men, all of whom had enabled her work, she called "a labor of love for the future." President of the Junior Board of Kent General Hospital. President and Board member and Lobbyist for Delaware Audubon Society, President of Delaware Federation of Republican Women, National Audobon's Charles H. Collison Award, Life Time Achievement Award, National Congressional Lobbyist for Wilderness Society. She was instrumental in writing and passing of Delaware's landmark Coastal Zone Act, working with former Governor Russell W. Peterson. She moved on to the Wilderness Society in Washington D C as a lobbyist for the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act. and laws that regulate off shore oil drilling. She was head of environmental platform for National Unity Party's candidate John Anderson in 1980 Presidential run and wrote the environmental platform. She was a delegate at the 1968 Republican National Presidential Convention. She was instrumental in passing regulations to save Horseshore Crabs in Delaware. She held a constant vigilance against Oil Companies trying to break the coastal zone act and illegal emissions. She was elected to the Slaughter Beach Town Council. She also was appointed to the Sea Grant Advisory Council. Her motto "Not blind opposition to progress but opposition to blind progress"
She was preceded in death by her husbands, W. Lemar Pierce and Richard G. Beck who was the love of her later life and in one ceremony became husband, father, and grandfather to her family.
She is survived by daughter and her husband, Linda P. and Thomas Dolan of Millsboro, DE; son, Barry W. C. Pierce of Dover, DE; daughter and her husband, Susan P. and Peter Gottfried of Winter Park, FL; sister, Patricia Gabel of St. Augustine, FL; 7 grandchildren, Anne Quaintance Hunting Dolan, John Pierce Dolan, James Butler Dolan, Christopher Knowles Gottfried, Alexander Pierce Gottfried, Katherine McClements Pierce, Emily McClements Pierce; 1 great grandchild, Anne Keiran Dolan.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, 2 pm, at Christ Episcopal Church in Dover, DE. Burial will be private with the family at the Lake Side Cemetery Dover.
The family request that memorial contributions be given to the Delaware Audobon Society PO Box 1713 Wilmington, DE 19899.
Jean M. Rizzitiello
Jean M. Rizzitiello, age 47 of Bear, DE, died October 1, 2008 in Newark.
The Philadelphia native was the daughter of the late Mario D. Rizzitiello and Angie Rizzitiello of Bear. She was a manager for Boston Market and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
She is also survived by a son, Shawn Rollins; a daughter, Tina Bellon; a grandson, Christopher Bellon all of Bear; a sister, Susan Rizzitiello of Newark; 2 brothers, Ralph and Thomas Rizzitiello.
Funeral service will be at 10 am October 9, 2008 at Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church.
Viola Fay Ryan
Viola Fay Ryan, 86, of Milton, DE passed on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Capitol Health Care in Dover, DE.
She was born on August 27, 1922 in Millsboro, DE. She was in retail clothing sales for much of her life. Mrs. Ryan was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. She was a long time volunteer at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, an avid bird watcher, gardener, florist, and fantastic cook. Also, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and all around perfect. She was a member of the St. Michaels R.C. Church in Georgetown, DE.
Mrs. Ryan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Patrick Francis Ryan in 1982, a son, Richard Ryan in 1998, a brother, David Ziegler, and a grandson, Chad Panuska. She is survived by 2 sons, Michael Joseph Ryan of San Jose, CA and David George Ryan and wife Lauren of Ocala, FL; 4 daughters, Patricia Fay Plummer and husband Virgil of Georgetown, DE, Sharon M. McDonald and husband Robert C. of Bear, DE, Veronica Carey and husband James of Fenwick Island, DE, and Teresa A. Michieli and husband Michael of Milford, DE; 1 brother, Ferdinand Ziegler and wife Helen of Delmar, DE; 1 sister, Anna Marie Brummett of Florida; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
A Service will be held Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11am at Bethel United Methodist Church Lewes, DE. Rev. Fred Duncan will officiate. A Memorial Reception will be held at the Lighthouse in Lewes following the service.

Sarah V. Schnaars
Age 90, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2008 at Christiana Hospital.
Born in 1918 on a North Dakota Farm of Norwegian immigrant parents, Sarah V. Larsen grew up in Long Island, NY and met her husband of 51 years, Henry Schnaars. A son Richard was born in 1942 and in 1948 the couple moved to Delaware where a second son, Peter was born in 1950. Sarah was a life long Methodist and a member of the Wilmington Manor Church, later St. Mark's Methodist in Stanton, and more recently at Ebenezer Methodist Church in Pike Creek. She was a loving mother and housewife; a stay-at-home mom who was greatly appreciated by her sons. Though she worked many part-time jobs, her love and commitment to family was always paramount. Her hobbies included oil painting, piano playing, flower arranging and bird watching.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, in 1993 and her sister, Ingfred Kamps. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Marilyn of Newark and Peter and Maggie of Goshen, IN; and her grandsons, Daniel and Matthew of Indiana who she was proud to see graduate of high school and begin college, on their way toward carrying on the family name.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Friday, October 10th between 11 am and 12 noon at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Road, Newark where funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be private.
Please omit flowers. The family would appreciate any cards or notes expressing thoughts and remembrances of Sarah and her life.
Patricia Ann Sullins
Age 49 years, of Perryville, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born March 4, 1959 in Wilmington, DE, she was a daughter of Orval L. Foraker, Sr., New Castle, DE, and the late H. Jean Wright Foraker. Patty was a homemaker, a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Charlestown, MD, and she very much enjoyed spending time with her family and her animals.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Robert B. Sullins, Jr., Perryville, MD; son, Chad Allen Sullins, Perryville, MD; step-daughters, Rebecca Ball and Christina Sullins, both of Virginia; brothers, Orval L. Foraker, Jr., West Grove, PA, Daniel W. Foraker, Sr., Middletown, DE and Michael S. Foraker, Wilmington, DE; sisters, Joan M. Foraker Walker and Barbara J. Foraker Hall, both of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2008, 12 Noon , at St. John's United Methodist Church, Charlestown, MD. Friends and family are invited to call, 10 am, prior to the service. Pastor Mary Browne of St. John's United Methodist Church will officiate and will be assisted by Pastor Beverly Lewis. Interment will be private.

David W. Turner
David W. Turner, age 36 of Pennsville, NJ, died suddenly from the result of a boating accident on Sunday, October 5, 2008.
Born in Fort Belvoir, VA, he was the son of Wanda Carter Bennett and stepfather, Donald Bennett of Salem, NJ and father, John W. Turner of Bushnell, FL. He was employed as a Claims Supervisor for the GEICO Insurance Company in Philadelphia. David's family was everything to him. He enjoyed coaching his boys' soccer and baseball teams, boating with his friends and rooting for the Washington Redskins. David's personality was larger than life, and he lived everyday to the fullest with a smile on his face. He will be missed by many.
David was survived by his wife, Nara L. Turner and their children, Cody W. Turner and Austin W. Turner at home, as well as stepbrothers, Mark and Barry Bennett and stepsister, Linda Bennett, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Thursday, October 9, at the Queen of the Apostles RC Church, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ.

Jeremy Peter Wilson
Jeremy Peter Wilson, 11, of Malvern, PA, passed away on Sunday at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children after a courageous battle with liver sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
Born a triplet, at Bryn Mawr Hospital, PA on March 14, 1997, he was the son of Peter W. and Karen H. (Harvey) Wilson. Jeremy had a wide range of interests including Star Wars, electronic games and technology and building Legos. He loved to fish, ski, play tennis, golf and baseball, kayak, swim, ride his bike and travel with his family. He also enjoyed singing in choral groups and playing the cello. He was a proud Boy Scout with Charlestown, PA Troop 67. Jeremy loved school and was an avid 6th Grade student at Great Valley Middle School. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his triplet sisters, Claire and Laurel. Also maternal grandmother Lois Harvey Pollard of Millington, NJ and paternal grandparents William and Elizabeth Wilson of South Egremont, MA, formerly of Wayne, PA and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation for Jeremy will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 S. Main St., Phoenixville, PA. Visitation on Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Peter's-Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Rd., Chester Springs, PA 19425. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Interment will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service, followed by a luncheon reception. A celebration of Jeremy's life, appropriate for children and families ages 8 and up, will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at St. Peter's UCC at 2pm.

Laurence C. Kubasek, Sr.
Age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.
Laurence worked at Howard Johnson Restaurant, Skyview Restaurant and the Red Clay School District. After his retirement from Red Clay School District he went on to serve as a crossing guard for New Castle County. Laurence was a member of St. Matthews R.C. Church and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores B. Kubasek; his children, Susan Sweeny and her husband Grant and Laurence Kubasek and his wife Diana; his brother, Anthony Kubasek; his sisters, Catherine Dalto and Irene Wojciechowicz; his grandchildren, John and Lauren Humphrey and Christopher Kubasek and his wife Elizabeth, Michelle Frieze and her husband Scott and Laurence Kubasek; and his great grandchildren, Aubrey and Andrew Frieze and Alexandria Kubasek.
Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20 at 10 am at St. Matthew's R.C. Church Maryland & Fallon Ave., Woodcrest. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
