Margaret Miller Knoll,

Margaret Jane Miller Knoll, 93, of Lewes, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
Mrs. Knoll was born in Philadelphia, Pa., July 8, 1911 to the late Albert J. Miller and the late Agnes Alexander Miller.
Mrs. Knoll lived in the Manayunk and Roxborough, Pa. area most of her life where she was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church; she moved to the Lewes area in 1992.
Mrs. Knoll is survived by two daughters, Joan F. Betham of Mantua, N.J. and Judith Lewandowski of Philadelphia; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Knoll was preceded in death by her husband, William Knoll; her daughter, Patricia Freet; her brother, William Miller; and her sister, Sarah Lafferty.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, Rt. 1 at Five Points, Lewes. Burial will be private.
The family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905

The Rev. Charles A. Mosby,
Episcopal clergyman
The Rev. Charles A. Mosby, 89, of Georgetown, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at home.
He was born in Batesville, Ark., the son of the late Charles K. and Ruth Albert Mosby. His service to the Episcopal Church spanned 64 years. He graduated in 1941 from General Theological Seminarry in New York City and was ordained into the priesthood later that year. He served as missionary and clergyman for the Diocese of Newark. N.J. in the six churches of the Delaware Watergap Charge, the three churches of Patterson Charge and then for the Harrington Park Charge at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for 18 years. While in the Diocese of Newark he served as arch deacon.
After his service in New Jersey, he was clergyman for 14 years for the Diocese of Central New York at the Cazenovia Charge of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He then retired in 1979 to Delaware.
After moving to Delaware he worked with the Sussex County Coalition and was then asked to serve the Diocese of Delaware as clergyman for St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Milton, where he ministered for 14 years. He enjoyed a second retirement in 1994 and then served as supply priest for the diocese.
He enjoyed model trains, woodworking and traveling.
His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Dunbar Mosby; four daughters; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, at St. George’s Chapel, 20332 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson. Contributions are suggested to the church. Arrangements by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
Tessie M. Glowiak,
St. Hedwig’s member
Tessie M. (Kolakowski) Glowiak, 85, of Wilmington, died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at home and surrounded by members of her family.
Mrs. Glowiak was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Henry C. Glowiak Sr., who died in 2002.
Mrs. Glowiak was born in Wilmington. As a youngster, she moved to Poland and Canada before moving back to Wilmington and making it her home. She was a member of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and its Holy Rosary Society.
A loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, Henry Jr. of Lewes; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Edward Carucci and Marlene Eckendorf, both of Wilmington, and Gerrie and H. David Lunger of Chadds Ford, Pa.; a brother, Thomas Kolakowski of Massey’s Landing; her sisters, Jean Willis and Helen Abramowicz; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, with entombment in the Resurrection Patio in All Saints cemetery.

Anna Mae Pike Hope,
retired bank teller
Anna Mae Pike Hope, 77, of Millsboro and formerly of Hurlock, Md., passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, in Village of Green Valley, Millsboro.
She lived her whole life in Hurlock until recently and was a 1944 graduate of Hurlock High School. Mrs. Hope retired as a bank teller with Maryland National Bank, enjoyed reading and loved cats and dogs. She was a faithful Christian and attended Cambridge Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James Pike.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Martin Welles Hope of Village of Green Valley; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Pritchett of Milton; a son and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sandy Hope of Waldorf, Md.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Hearn of New Castle and Shirley Diefenderfer of Trappe, Md.; a godchild, Joy Slavens of Laurel; and a caring brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Bette Hope of Seaford.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18, in Cambridge Wesleyan Church, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Unity-Washington cemetery , Hurlock. Arrangements by Framptom Funeral Home, Federalsburg, Md.
William H. Brady,

William H. Brady, 82, a lifelong resident of Media, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005.
He was the husband of the late Lillias Reuben Brady, his wife of 60 years, who died in 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Downey of Middletown; Jill Brady of Upland, pa. and Terri Brady of Lewes; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Rosa.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at Cavanagh Patterson Family Funeral Home and Crematorium, 43 E. Baltimore Ave., Media, Pa., where friends may call after 10 a.m.

George E. Gordon,
regional sales manager
George Edward Gordon of Georgetown, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005.
George was a 1966 graduate of Conrad High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 in Germany. He was a regional sales manager for Kitchen Craft Cabinetry.
He participated in Big Brothers, Special Olympics and was a founder of the Delaware Down Syndrome Association. He was a very loving father, husband and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, Chris; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jay Allen; brothers Jim, Leo and David; and sisters Miriam Harris and Florence Hartman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Newark, where friends may call at noon.
Minnie B. Sample,
active missionary
Minnie B. Sample, 71, of Millsboro, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Christiana Hospital, Newark.
Born in Shawboro, N.C., she as the daughter of the late William H. and Annie J. Trafton Sears. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Georgetown and was active in missionary work. Shewas a wonderful mother, a gracious lady, a lovely aunt and had devoted her life to serving the Lord. She was known by all as “Mom” to the church family.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie B. Sears of Germany and and Raymond D. Sears of Newark; two daughters, Brenda M. Garcia of Millsboro and Carolyn D. Sample of North Carolina; two sisters, Willow Mae Church of Lincoln and Lenora Bailey of Millsboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Zebedee Sample, died in 1991.
Services will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Missionary Baptist Church, Route 9, west of Georgetown, with Pastor Judson Garrison officiating, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Zoar Golden Acres cemetery , Bishopville, Md.

Everett G. “Chuck” Jugler,
retired millwright
Everett G. “Chuck” Jugler, 89, of Hanover, Pa., died peacefully, Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005.
Mr. Jugler was a millwright for the DuPont Company at the Edgemoor site for more than 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He also volunteered for several organizations, including St. Patrick’s cemetery
in Ashland, the Missionary Servants of Christ and the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, particularly at Camp Brisson and at Salesianum School.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marnet McGoldrick Jugler in 1981; and his son, Michael, in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Leila Long Jugler; three daughters, Marie Hughes of Hockessin, Marie Grezikowsi of Long Neck and Susan Desper of Wilmington; his son, Larry Jugler of Mt. Airy, Md.; his sister, Vada Bradley of New Castle; his brother, Robert, of Rising Sun, Md; his stepson, Donald Lucas of Hanover, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Mealey Funeral Home, Wilmington, with burial in St. Patrick’s cemetery
in Ashland.

William ‘Bill’ Bennett,
retired printer
William I. “Bill” Bennett, 79, of Rehoboth Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Bennett was a decorated veteran of WWII, serving with the 78th Division from 1944 to 1946. He started his career at Ward’s Printing Company as a journeyman printer and compositor, completing his apprenticeship in 1957. In 1961 he went to the government printing office where he retired after 26 years of dedicated service. In 1970 he was Printer of the Year.
He moved to Rehoboth Beach after retiring and worked part time at the Rehoboth Food Lion for nine years and then at Super G at Midway until his death. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 28, Oak Orchard, and the Rehoboth VFW Post 7447.
He was married for 45 years to the former Mildred R. Pulski, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Victoria Brees Bennett, and two sisters, Evelyn McKahan and Louella Jones.
He is survived by three sons, Ron and his wife Cyndi of Milton, Don of Rehoboth Beach and David and his wife, Ruth, of Buffalo, N.Y.; a daughter, Linda, of Seaford; six grandchildren; a special friend, Judy Schmierer of Rehoboth Beach; three sisters, Jenny Phillips, Nell Watson and Ruth Glover, all of Washington, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Second Street, Lewes. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road. Burial will be private.

Roberta Clendaniel,

Robert “Bertie” Clendaniel, 83, of Milton, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro.
Mrs. Clendaniel was born in Milton, the daughter of the late Gove R. and Clara Messick Betts. She was a home health care worker for Geriatric Services and also a seamstress.
She was a member of Milton VFW Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Clendaniel; a son, James O. Clendaniel; a daughter, Joyce Townsend; two sisters, Hilda Willey and Ruth Taylor; and two brothers, Gove Betts Jr. and Albert Betts.
She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Moore and Pearl Carmean, both of Milford; a brother, Edward Betts of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Allen Townsend, Ricky Townsend, Kenny Hughes, Jamie Betts, Buddy Rogers, Mike Rogers and Doug Rogers; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in McColleys cemetery , Redden.
Dennis Lee Anderson,
carpenter, mason
Dennis Lee Anderson, 59, died quietly in his home Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 after a long battle with cancer.
Denny graduated from Latrobe High School in 1964, served in the U. S. Army, then moved to Huntingtown, Md. in 1969. There he completed a four-year apprenticeship to earn a master carpenter status. He was an active member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners local 132 in Washington, D.C. He spent much of his career working in the main yard for Clark Construction Company.
As an avid sportsman, he loved hunting, travel and just being in the outdoors. His years coaching Little League softball gave him many cherished memories. He was a true craftsman who excelled at woodworking, carpentry and stone masonry.
Denny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Francis and E. Jane Anderson, and his infant sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cindy; his daughter and son-in law Lynnette and Geoff Klopp; granddaughters Darby and Riley Klopp, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Richard Baumgardner; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Janet Anderson, brother-in-law Duane Silvis and wife Dana; sister-in-law Karen and husband Marshal Bartholow ; father-in-law Duane Silvis and mother-in-law June Balter. His nieces are Alicia, Tricia and Jocelyn and his nephew is Ryan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. Burial will be in St. Peters cemetery , Pilottown, Road, Lewes.
