Christine M. (Roberts) Auer

Age 45, of Clayton, DE, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Kent General Hospital.

Born in Wilmington, Christine was the daughter of JoAnne (Cecchi) Roberts and the late Kenneth J. Roberts. She was a graduate of A. I. DuPont High School. Gentle by nature, she was a true animal lover.

Her brother, Mark Roberts, predeceased her. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 21 years, Geoffrey R. Auer; her daughters, Amanda Lynn and Alyssa Josephine; her mother, JoAnne Roberts; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Kurt LaVanture of West Grove, PA; her brother, Kenny Roberts of Baltimore, MD; her aunt Rosalie Hurley; and her uncle, John Cecchi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 3 pm at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 300 Marrows Road, Newark. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a trust fund for the children at Delaware National Bank, PO Box 349, Ocean View, DE 19970.

Mary E. (Wright) Bordley

passed away at home on Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Mary was a domestic worker for several Wilmington area families.

She is survived by 1 brother, Charles H. Wright of Delaware City, DE; 1 sister-in-law, Mamie Wright of Norristown, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10 am, on Friday, October 3, at Mt. Pisgah UAME Church, 516 Old Summitt Bridge, Rd., Middletown, DE. Viewing will be 9-10 am,only. Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery.

Cornelia R. Brady

Cornelia A. Roberts Brady, of Delaware City, DE, departed this life peacefully at home in the presence of her family on September 29, 2008.

She was born May 6, 1919 to the late Jesse and Edna Emory Roberts. She was married to the late Francis Leon Brady in 1942.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Elsie Roberts Brady, James Roberts and Edward Roberts; and grandson, Keith Quailes. She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children, Francis E. Brady, Gerald A. Brady (Karen Q.), Reginal D. Brady, Gwendolyn M. Quailes (Larry) and Craig W. Brady (Kathleen); daughter-in-law, C.F. Brady Henderson; 11 grandchildren, Sean D. Brady (Kandist), Craig A. Brady, Javon Floyd, Stefanie Greene (Randy), Drew A. Brady (Evelyn), Camron A. Brady, Dahniene A. Brady, Ebony A. Brady, Devon A. Brady, Shannan J. Brady and Gregory Quailes; 16 great-grandchildren, Farran, Durrell, Kennadie, Thea, Nikko, Sean, Craig, Leajah, Taylor, Logan, Ashleigh, Nicholas, Isaac, Brice, Ciara, and Joshua; her loving brother and his wife, Francis "Frank" and Alice Roberts; and sister-in-law, Alice Roberts; and a whole host of relatives and friends.

Services, 11 am, on Saturday, October 4, at Mt. Salem UAME Church, 4th & Bayard St., Delaware City, DE. Viewing will be 9-11 am. Interment in Greenhill Cemetery, Delaware City, DE.

Gloria Clara Copper

Age 82, of Laurel, DE, passed away at the Seaford Center on October 3, 2008. Wife of Ralph T. Copper. All services will be private at her request. Arrangements by Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel.

Judith M. Cornell

Age 65, died October 4, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE.

Judy resided in Parkside and Aston for a number of years before moving to Wilmington, DE 44 years ago. She graduated from Ridley Park High School and was employed by General Motors in Wilmington, DE as an inspector for more than 30 years. Judy was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington.

She was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Margaret Murray Cornell. She was the sister of the late Earl M. Cornell. Survivors include her dear friend, Rose A. Gebhardt of Wilmington, DE with whom she lived; loving goddaughter, Kelley Dinsmore of Kimblesville, PA. Also survived by 6 other nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass, Wednesday, October 8, at 10:30 am, at Church of the Holy Child 2500 Naamans Road Wilmington, DE. Interment private. Visitation is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to University of Pennsylvania Parkinson Center Dept. of Neurology, 330 S. 9th St. Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Gerald Granville Scheirer 'Jerry'

Age 86, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday October 3, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center.

Jerry was born in Catasauqua, PA on July 18, 1922, son of the late Harry Granville Elias Scheirer and Elsie Elizabeth Wenner. He worked during his entire career in the wholesale plumbing and heating industry, retiring in 1985 as a manager for Penco Corporation. During WW II he served as a Captain in the US Marine Corps, most notably at Iwo Jima. He was devoted to his church, Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes, DE where he sang in the church choir until very recently, served on the administrative board, and as Sunday School Superintendent. For many years he was a member of the Lewes Rotary Club and served on the Board of Education for the Cape Henlopen School District during the time of the formation of the current district. Golfing, bowling, and square dancing were his hobbies as well as being a devoted Phillies and Eagles fan.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Sara L. Jones Scheirer in September 1984 and his second wife, Dorothy Barrett Scheirer in July 2002. His survivors include, daughters, Lynn Fulop and husband John of Griffin, GA, Brenda Archer of Lewes, DE, Carol Wright and husband Bob of Lewes, DE and Bev Yingling and husband Dave of Griffin, GA; brother, Roger S. Scheirer of Catasaugua, PA and sisters, Joyce Miller of Red Hill, PA and Carol Mack of Mertztown, PA; grandchildren, Michael Fulop, Michelle Archer, Mandy Fulop Mulherin, Kyle Archer, Mandy Wright Ford, Cathy Smith Phillips, Katie Wright, Jason Yingling and 6 great-grandchildren. His step family includes, Doug and Jan Sentman and their children, and Debbie Sentman Spencer and family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 9, at 2 pm, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, W. 4th St. Lewes, DE where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial with Marine Corps Honors will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park near Milton, DE. Friends may also call on Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm, at the PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to either Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street Lewes, DE 19958; or to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 163 Salisbury, MD 21803-0163.

Yolanda Lynch (nee Vignola)

A 50-year resident of Penns Grove, NJ, and most recently of West Deptford, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2008.

Yonnie was known for her independence and determination blended with a gentle compassion for which she will always be remembered. Her friends and family marveled at her skills as a wife, mother and homemaker while providing extraordinary care for the many neighbors who depended on her. She shared her faith with others as a teacher of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) program at Corpus Christi Church in Carney's Point. After retiring from Dupont she used her new-found time to expand her horizons and make new friends at the University of Delaware's Center for Lifelong Learning. Born in Spring Lake, NJ, Yonnie moved to Penns Grove shortly after her marriage in 1952. She moved to West Deptford NJ four years ago where she joined St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Woodbury.

Beloved wife of the late, William A.; a devoted mother of Larry (Helen) Lynch, Loretta (Tom) Macconi, Chris (Teresa) Lynch, and Bob (Pam) Lynch; loving grandmother of Shena and Robert Lynch, Sara and Brian Konigsberg, Kate Macconi and Jillian, Joseph, Judith and Carly Lynch; dear sister of Rose Salemme, Antoinette Lynch, Gloria (Dennis) Malloy, Rev. Robert Vignola and the late Michael Vignola.

Family and friends may call Monday evening, October 6, between 6:30-9 pm, and Tuesday morning, October 7, between 8:45-9:15 am, at the MCGUINESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Tuesday morning at St. Patricks RC Church, Euclid and Cooper Streets, Woodbury NJ. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetary, Woodstown, NJ.

Juanita V. McManus

Age 56, of Wilmington, DE died Sept. 29, 2008 at Christiana Hospital. Service, 7pm, Wednesday, Oct. 8, at United House of Prayer, 3094 New Castle Ave., New Castle, DE; visitation 5-7pm. Interment, Silverbrook. Arr: BELL F.H.

Shirley L. Morgan

Of Dover, DE, age 74, died Saturday October 4, 2008. Graveside services will be held 1 pm, Wednesday, October 8, Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway New Castle, DE 19720. Friends may call 1 hour prior.

Lester Nolt

Age 74, of Seaford, DE, formerly of Ephrata, PA died on Friday, October 3, 2008, at the Hospice Center in Milford.

Mr. Nolt retired from the Hamilton Equipment Company in Ephrata in 1998 after 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Hiram Lodge #21 A F & A M in Seaford and was active in the Nanticoke Little League for over 15 years.

Three children, Barry Dee Nolt, Michael Nolt and Lisa Nolt, preceded Lester in death. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Nolt; 1 son, Gregory Nolt and his wife Sherry of Seaford, DE; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Wright and her husband Adam and Alison Nolt; 2 great-grandchildren, Breyden and Kendyl Wright; 3 brothers, Harold and Flo Nolt of Ephrata, PA, John and Ruth Shirk of Akron, PA, and Manlin Houck of Denver, PA also survive Lester.

Friends may call at the CRANSTON FUNERAL HOME, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford on Tuesday, October 7 from 6-8 pm. Masonic Services will be at 7 pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 10, at 11 am, at the Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 West Main St., Ephrata, PA where friends may call from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Inc., 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Ralph J. O'Day

Ralph Jackson O'Day, 90, of Seaford, DE. passed home to heaven, October 4, 2008, after a brief illness, at his home, the Methodist Manor House.

He was born to Olen G. and Florence E. [McKenzie] O'Day of Reliance, DE on October, 6, 1917, and Ralph lived and served the Seaford-Reliance area all his life. His love for the Lord and for Gethsemane Methodist Church was evident by his lifelong service, teaching the Adult Bible Class, serving as Lay Speaker, and many Methodist Conference jobs, including serving on the Conference Administrative Council, and a Delegate to General Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was past Master of the Reliance Grange and Master of the Delaware State Grange, Trustee for the University of Delaware, President of the Seaford Kiwanis Club, and ran for State Senate seat for the 21st District. He traveled to Russia, Honduras, and Ireland as an Agriculture Ambassador. As a lifelong farmer he had received many agricultural awards, for conservation and was appointed by Gov. Tribbitt to the Delmarva Advisory Council. He was also a member of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a Mason and member of the I.O.O.F.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Peggy Dawson O'Day; sisters, Margaret Givens of Laurel; Phyllis Palmer, Seaford. Ralph is also survived by 5 children and their spouses, Jack and Joan O'Day, Edie and Joe Sipos, Gail and George Olive, Jim and Carol O'Day, and Joe and Sue O'Day, and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and Frank O'Day, and sisters, Sue Pritchett and Hazel Mackereth.

Friends may visit at the Methodist Manor House from 6-8 pm, on Tuesday October 7. Memorial Services will be on Saturday October 11, at 4 pm, at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Reliance, DE, where friends may call from 3-4 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 2701 Woodland Ferry Road, Seaford DE 19973; or the Methodist Manor House, Benevolence Fund, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford DE 19973.
