Lillian E. Fritz

Age 83 of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Kingston, NY, died Monday, August 7, 2006, at HCR Manor Care, Wilmington, DE.

Mrs. Fritz was born September 29, 1922 in Kingston, NY to the late John and Maude Adams Ewel. Lillian graduated from Kingston High School. On April 29, 1972 she married her husband, Dr. Fred Fritz of Wilmington, DE. She had been an accountant for Hercules Inc. of Port Ewen, NY and Wilmington, DE, she retired from Hercules in 1986, after 31 years of employment.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by son, John McElrath of Kingston, NY; son, Ferrell McElrath of Eugene, OR; daughter, Joyce Huddleston of Waco, TX; daughter, Lillian M. Campbell of Esopus, NY; son Ronald McElrath of Esopus, NY; son, Gary McElrath of Hurley, NY; sister, Clara Pritchard of Kingston, NY; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 3 step grandchildren; and 7 step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Jeanne McElrath; and a sister, Pearl Hayner.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, at 10 am at Keyser Funeral Services, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. Calling hours are today, August 10, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm.

Catherine Elizabeth

Workman Hamaty "Kitty"

Age 90 of Pennsville, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, after a brief illness.

Catherine was born on August 22, 1915 in Wilmington, DE, to the late William and Anna Marie Hyland. In her youth, she loved to sing and tap dance. In the 1930s, she performed on stage at the Broad Theater in Penns Grove and on the radio program "Aunt Ellen's Candlelight Club." Catherine was an expert at crossword puzzles and cooking, and her spaghetti and meatballs were a family favorite. A talented craftswoman, her handmade afghans and egg baskets are treasured by her family. She loved vacations in Ocean City, NJ each summer and spent many happy hours on the boardwalk. Catherine was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Penns Grove. She taught children's Sunday School classes and sang in the choir for many years. Her daily prayers for those she loved will be greatly missed. She led a happy, full life, and will be forever remembered for her loving, giving spirit.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Billy and Bobby; her sisters, Jean and Edie; her first husband, Ralph James Workman, in 1956; and her second husband, Carl Hamaty, in 1992. She is survived by her children, Ronnie Workman, Shirley Workman Ysais and her husband, Joe, and Alan Workman; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at Bethel Bible Baptist Church (First Baptist Church), 20 Elmwood Ave. Carneys Point, NJ, on Friday morning, August 11, beginning at 10 am. A service celebrating Catherine's life will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Eglington cemetery, Clarksboro.

John W. Nichols

Age 89 of Millsboro, DE, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at home. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 11, in Henlopen Memorial, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE. Arr. MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES

Father Bernard Thomas Pagano

Age 80 of Saylorsburg, PA, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 1, 2006.

Father Pagano was born on December 27, 1925 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Manzella) Pagano. He received his early education at St. Cecilia Elementary and High School, Kearny, NJ. He attended college at Fordham University, NY. He received his bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University and his Masters degree from St. Vincents College. He completed his studies for the priesthood at St. Vincents Major Seminary, Latrobe, PA. Father was ordained May 31, 1958 at St. Peter Cathedral, Wilmington, DE by Bishop Edward Schlotterbach, OSFS. Father Pagano was assigned as Associate Pastor to St. Michael the Archangel, Georgetown, Our Lady of Fatima, New Castle, Immaculate Conception, Elkton, MD, St. Matthew Church, Woodcrest, St. John the Beloved, Wilmington and St. Mary Refuge of Sinners, Cambridge, MD. He was a weekend assistant at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick and St. Theresa Church in Edison for 25 years. Most recently he served as chaplain at St. Michaels Chapel in Somerset, Our Lady Queen of Peace, Pa., Holy Trinity in Bridgewater and St. Mary's K of C, Monsignor Mugnano Council #6572. He served as "spiritual counselor" and mass celebrant. He was a World War II veteran in the United States Army Air Force. He served as chaplain to the Veterans Hospital in East Orange and Lyons, NJ and was a chaplain in the Military Ordinariate in Washington, DC. He served as chaplain to Delaware State Hospital, New Castle and Governor Bacon Health Center in Delaware City. During the 1980s, he worked in Prison Ministry at Rahway State Prison. Father Pagano had teaching positions at St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA and Gannon College, Erie, PA and Seton Hall University, East Orange, NJ. Father Pagano will always be remembered as a devoted servant of God, and dedicated to those he served. He will always be remembered as a kind and caring person. Who has left a legacy for all to cherish.

Father is survived by his sister, Susan M. Pagano of Whiting, NJ; a brother-in-law, George W. Fox of Monroe Township, NJ; his loving nieces, Lori Minialga, Maureen Witt, Judy Welch, and several other nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation took place on Monday, August 7, at St. Mary of the Mount Virgin Church, 198 Sanford Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901, from 2-5 pm and from 7-9 pm. On Tuesday, August 8, a viewing was held from 9-11 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, with Bishop Michael A. Saltarelli, D.D. Bishop of the diocese of Wilmington, DE presiding. Interment was in Holy Cross cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Mary of the Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick, Building Fund.

Age 72 of Smyrna, DE, died August 8, 2006 at Green Valley Pavilion. Service 10 am, Mon., August 14, Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Eugenia Jean Zgoba

Age 69, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2006.

Eugenia was born in the Ukraine and came to America in 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She worked for 25 years at the former Riverside Hospital in housekeeping. She liked to spend her free time embroidering.

She is survived by her daughter, with whom she lived with, Susan Baldwin. Her parents, Josep and Lukia Pundyk, both preceded her in death in 1991.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, at 10 am at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 1406 Philadelphia Pk., Wilmington DE, 19809, where friends may call after 9 am. Interment will be in Riverview Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eugenia's name to the Ss. Peter & Paul's Building Fund

Dorothy PEASLEY

Dorothy Lee Satterfield Peasley Loving wife, mother and grandmother Age 79 of Springhill Retirement Community, Erie, PA died on Thursday, March 22, 2001.

She was born in Wilmington, DE. After graduating from Drexel University in 1943, she joined TWA as a flight attendant where she met her husband to be in Lisbon, Portugal. Returning to Wilmington with her husband, she raised 3 children, taught at Brandywine High School and was active in her church, PTA, Girl Scouts, bridge clubs and numerous civic organizations.

In 1996, Dorothy and her husband moved to Springhill Retirement Community in Erie to be near their daughter, Paige and her family. She loved to travel, play bridge and spend time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, M. Grant Peasley; 2 daughters, Christine Gail Peasley and her husband of Windsor, CA, Paige Ellen Peasley and her husband of Erie, PA; 1 son, Matthew Grant Peasley of Reno, NV; 4 grandchildren; a sister-in-law; 3 nieces and their families.

There will be no calling hours. DUSCKAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., WEST is handling the arrangements. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Wayside Presbyterian Church, Erie, PA at 3 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2001.

Memorials may be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, P. O. Box 79972, Baltimore, MD 21279-0972 or the City Mission New Life Center, 1023 French St., Erie, PA 16501.

Harold J. WHITE

Harold J. White "Whitey" Age 83, formerly of Claymont, DE died October 20, 2003 in Deltona, FL.

A retired guidance counselor from Brandywine High, he was an U.S. Army vet of WWII and received the Purple Heart and Medal of Honor.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Josephine; sons, Dennis, Harold "Jim", Gregory and Edward; daughter, Sharon Mays; and 9 grandchildren.

There will be a funeral mass 11:30 am Thursday, October 23, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona, FL, with burial in Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City, FL.

L. Martin Gravely, Jr.

Age 73, died on Saturday, August 14, 2004 from complications of Parkinson's disease. He lived in Hockessin and died in Oregon following a family vacation.

A Spanish teacher for 30 years at Brandywine High School, he is survived by his wife, Barbara of 40 years; his daughter, Meg G. Keen of Newark; son-in-law Bryan W. Keen, and grandsons, Peyton, Bradley and Matthew Keen; his son, Robert M. Gravely; daughter-in-law, Polly Forster of Portland, OR, and his brother, Bernard P. Gravely of Richmond, VA. A second brother, Ford Gravely, died earlier this year.

Born in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late L. Martin and Elizabeth F. Gravely. He was a graduate of George Washington High School in Danville and received degrees from Lynchburg College and the University of VA. His career began at Halifax County High School in South Boston, VA, where he taught for 6 years before coming to Brandywine High School, where he retired in 1991. He was active in the athletic programs at both schools and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Gravely was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Delaware Retired Teachers Association, and had a long involvement with Ulster Project DE.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania Ave. and Rodney St., Wilmington.
