Andrew L. LaFlamme,
retired veterinarian
Andrew L. LaFlamme, 77, beloved husband of 48 years to Barbara B. LaFlamme of Millsboro, and father of Peter A. LaFlamme and Monique L. Fitzhugh, passed away at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.
Mr. LaFlamme was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. and joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He served in Japan and Formosa, where he was a distinguished member of the U.S. Army Equestrian Team. Upon his return to the United States, he was stationed at West Point, N. Y. and taught at The New York Military Academy in Cornwall, NY. After a tour of duty in The Netherlands and other posts in Europe, he was transferred to Walter Reed Veterinarian’s Department in Washington, D.C., where he retired in 1965.
At that time, Mr. LaFlamme joined the Montgomery County Maryland Health and Environment Department and retired in 1994 after 29 years as a health inspector.
Moving to the Long Neck area of Delaware with his wife in 1994, Mr. LaFlamme kept busy teaching at the Milton Equestrian Center until 2002.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Route 24, Millsboro, Friday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. prior to Mass at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Private entombment will be at Delaware Veterans cemetery
South, Millsboro, at a later date.

Samuel A. Neal,
Air Force veteran
Samuel A. Neal, 88, of Dover passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at home.
Mr. Neal was born June 5, 1916, in Wilmington, son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth McNally Neal.
He was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, serving 40 years: 20 years in uniform and 20 years in civil service. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and had a real affection for his many pets.
Mr. Neal was an avid golfer and was a member of the DAFB MISGA and could be found on the golf course year round, weather permitting. He also was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, a charter member of the Dover Council of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover, and a 17-year member of the Dover Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McIntee Neal; two brothers, James Neal and Edward Neal; and a beloved grandson, Neal A. Faires.
He is survived by his three sons and three daughters-in-law, Francis and Dr. Elaine Neal of Lyme, N.H., Michael Neal and M. Jane Brady of Lewes and Timothy and Kathy Neal of Wilmington; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Neal of Dover, Patricia and Norman Carney of Dover and Maureen “Ree” and Wells Faires of Smyrna; two sisters, Margaret Forester of Wilmington and Mary Reinhart of West Lake, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kat, Erin, Jamie, Elizabeth and Maggie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 11, at Holy-Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
Anne Taylor Mercure,
retired office manager
Anne Taylor Mercure, 71, of Millsboro and formerly of New Castle, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005.
Mrs. Mercure was the office manager of the State Board of Electrical Examiners. She retired in 1985 after 20 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, James Mercure; her sons, Michael Taylor and his wife Lynn of Lansing, Mich., David Taylor and his wife, Dara of Elsmere, Jeffrey Taylor and his wife Mary Kay of Wilmington and Christopher Taylor of Wilmington; her stepchildren, Bridget Vincent and her husband James of Oregon, Walter Mercure and his wife Diana of Newark and Phillip Mercure and his wife Cheryl of Townsend; her brothers, John R. Doherty of Norfolk, Va., G. Robert Doherty of Wilmington and William Doherty of Rehoboth Beach; her sister, Mary Kooser of Wilmington; her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Brian, Casey, Alyssa, Alexandra, Alaina and Michael; and her stepgrandchildren, Timothy and Monica.
Services were held at St. Elizabeth Church, Wilmington, with burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery.

Paul C. Marth,
retired from Bethlehem Steel
Paul C. Marth, 76, of Lewes and formerly of Bethlehem, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Marth was born in Chester, Pa., the son of the late Peter A. and Agnes Cosden Marth.
He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 23 years in the transportation department. He also worked 20 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, where he also was an usher; a member and past president of Northwest Bethlehem Lions Club; and a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 55 years, whom he married June 25, 1949, Matilda M. (Ferguson) Marth; a daughter, Ellen M. Hermansader of Milford; four sons, Peter P. Marth of Hellertown, Pa., Michael M. Marth of Nazareth, Pa., Paul C. Marth of Carlisle, Pa. and Bernard J. Marth of Nazareth; two brothers, Bernard J. Marth of Brookhaven, Pa. and John F. Marth of Bellvue, Wash.; three sisters, Rita McCarthy of Claymont, Ann Borkowski of Merced, Calif. and Joan McLaughlin of Boone, N.C.; and 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud.
Services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth, with burial in Holy Saviour cemetery , Bethlehem.

Howard J. Wright,
cabinet maker
Howard J. Wright, 85, of near Lewes, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005 at home.
Mr. Wright was born in Millsboro to the late William A. and Lottie E. Street Wright. He was a talented cabinet maker for the Selbyville Manufacturing Company in Rehoboth Beach for many years, retiring in 1981.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and often reminded his family that he served in the war for “three years, 11 months and 21 days.” He was a member of the Indian Mission United Methodist Church, Millsboro, the Nanticoke Indian Association and the VFW Post 10638, where he served as chaplain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Alberta “Birdie” Morris Wright, in March 2002.
He is survived by three sons, Howard J. Wright Jr. of Lewes, Danny W. Wright of Millsboro and Ronney A. Wright of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Kathy M. Streett of Lewes; a sister, Ellen Marie Wright of Millsboro; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, at the Indian Mission United Methodist Church, Route 5, near Millsboro, where friends may call at noon. Burial will be in the Indian Mission Church cemetery.

Alvin Clarence Bunting,
World War II veteran
Alvin Clarence Bunting, 78, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and formerly of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Jensen Beach. He was at home in the company of his beloved family.
Born in Bethany Beach on March 6, 1926, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He fought in the battles of Leyte, Mindoro, Lingayen, Okinawa and in the initial occupation of Japan aboard the battleship U.S.S. New Mexico, known as the queen of the fleet. After the war, he was a PBX repairman with the Diamond State Telephone Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge in Lewes and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth R. Bunting of Jensen Beach, Fla.; his brother, Harvey J. Bunting of Coolspring; his sons, Stephen M. Bunting of Lewes and David K. Bunting of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Stephen M. Bunting II of Charleston, S.C., Ryan M. Bunting of Milton and Shawn Bunting of Savannah, Ga.

Paul W. Havener Sr.,
retired machinist
Paul Wesley Havener Sr., 79, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Havener was born in South Fork, Pa., the son of the late Albert Samuel and Ida Mae Mock Havener. He and his family have lived in Delaware for the past 25 years, and prior to that they had lived in Pennsylvania. He retired in 1981 after 35 years as a machinist for Southhco Inc. in Concordville, Pa.
He was a member of Midway Assembly of God in Lewes and was guitarist for the worship team. His family and friends describe him as a mentor to many people and a devout man of God. His hobbies included being involved with the Indian River Senior Center, Club 55 bowling Team in Millsboro and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Havener.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Kirschman Havener; a son, Paul W. Havener Jr. of Kennett Square, Pa.; five daughters, Donna Smith and her husband, Clifford, of Milton, Debra Lockett of Morris, Pa., Susan Manning and her husband, Douglas, of Milton, Sharon Norton of Newark and Karen Furr and her husband, Trevor, of Newark; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Bender of Dundalk, Md. and Ruth Brown of Louisville, Ky.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday,, Feb. 11, at Midway Assembly of God, Highway One and Postal Lane, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Burial will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, Pa.

Richard C. Fritsche,
retired truck driver
Richard C. Fritsche, 89, of Oak Orchard and formerly of Brooklawn and Sicklerville, N.J., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Fritsche was a retired truck driver and a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Oak Orchard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Fritsche, in 1997.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rutter of Williamstown, N.J. and Susan Logiovino of Oak Orchard; two sisters, Ruth Dempsey and Dorothy Walters; five grandchildren, James, Sharon, Richard, James and Patricia; 10 great-grandchildren; and his very special friend, Millie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Brooklawn, N.J. with burial un New St. Mary’s Chapel and Mausoleum, Bellmawr, N.J.

Margaret E. ‘Lib’ Marsh,
Sussex homemaker
Margaret E. “Lib” Marsh, 83, of Rehoboth Beach, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Lewes Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Marsh was born in Salisbury, Md., the daughter of the late Lee and Georgie Lokey. She was a homemaker; a member of Conley’s United Methodist Church in Angola and the Ladies of the Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard J. Marsh Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Marsh; a stepson, Samuel Marsh of Rehoboth; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Marsh of New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Helen McAllister of Milton; a brother, William Lokey of Salisbury; a sister, Dorothy Dukes, of Dagsboro; half brothers and sisters, Theodore Lokey of Fruitland, Md., Gilbert Lokey of Princess Anne, Md., Wayne Lokey of Fairfield, Tenn., Sylvia Sayers of Hanover, Pa., Claude, Marion and Walter Lemon, all of Hebron, Md.; several nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1. Burial will be in Conley’s United Methodist cemetery , Angola.

Elaine C. Schweitzer,
Calvary Church member
Elaine Charlotte Schweitzer, 72, of Millsboro, left this world to be with her Lord Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown. Church was always very important in her life. She never so much as told a little white lie. She always said it was a lie no matter how big or small. She was the common thread of her family, providing strength to all who knew her.
She was the daughter of the late Allen Stephen Hesse and the late Elizabeth (Elliott) Hesse and was also predeceased by her husband, Thomas William Schweitzer.
She is survived by her daughter: Elizabeth (Schweitzer) Neisser of Philadelphia, Pa.; four sons, Thomas J. Schweitzer of Philadelphia, David Allen Schweitzer of Blackwood, N.J., Henry G. Schweitzer of Philadelphia, and Kenneth A. Schweitzer of Millsboro; one brother. Allen Hesse of Berwick, Pa.; and many grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 318 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, Sunday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. There will be a second service at First Grace Brethren Church, 648 Knorr St. at Oxford Avenue, Philadelphia, Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes. The family suggests the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
