Age 66, died August 17, 2006 at his home. Husband of Brenda L. Mills. Father of Bryant K. (Lisa), foster child, Adé Scott (Tia), spiritual son, Vern Jeff (Dorothy) & the late Jackie LaVon (J.L.). Son of the late James E. & Ella C. Mills. Brother of Loretta Mills, Georgia Blake, Betty Marshall (George), Beatrice Mills, Gerald Mills, Deborah Baines & James Redden. Richard T. Gumpert, Sr.
Age 81 of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Union Hospital.
Mr. Gumpert was a teacher with the Brandywine School District for 25 years before his retirement in 1987. He also taught at Drexel University. A graduate of La Salle College, Mr. Gumpert served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines.
His wife, Ruth Gumpert, predeceased him in 2001. Mr. Gumpert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard, Jr. and Patricia Gumpert of Elkton, MD; his daughter, Roberta Gumpert of Elkton, MD; and 2 grandchildren, Richard, III and Clair Gumpert.
Funeral services will be private.

William H. Crawford
William H. Crawford, age 83, of Dover, NH, died July 1, 2006.
He was born October 12, 1922, son of Henry and Anna (Breton) Crawford. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and his name is registered on the World War II Memorial Wall, in Washington, DC, where he was present for the dedication.
Members of his family include his wife of 60 years, Elaine (Boucher) Crawford; a son and his wife, Denis and Diane Crawford, of Somers-worth, NH; his daughters, Donna (Mrs. Blaine) Means, of Newark, DE, and Debra Crawford, of Apache Junction, AZ; 2 sisters, Margaret Leger, of Rochester, NH, and Joan Taylor, of Hagerstown, MD; his grandchildren, Robin Palumbo Thompson, Angela Palumbo Hastings and Kenneth Crawford; a great grandson, Reed Crawford Thompson; and a great granddaughter, Elaine Sophia Hastings. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 6, from 2-4 and from 7-9 pm, at the TASKER FUNERAL HOME 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, at 10 am, at St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave, Dover, NH.

Thomas Luke Crosby
Age 69, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Millcroft Retirement Home.
A native Delawarean, Tom was born in Wilmington on October 9, 1936, son of Agnes and Roland Crosby. He was a proud member of Local Union #313 IBEW for 50 years.
He is survived by his sister, Jeannine and brother-in-law, Jimmy White; 4 sons, Michael and his wife, Laura, Stephen and his wife, Karen, John and his wife, Sharon, and Joe; and 6 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 6th, at 11 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Sherwood Park. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery, Wilmington.

Clara N. Davis
Clara Nina (Gugino) Davis peacefully died, surrounded by family, in her home in Newport, DE, on Sunday, July 2. She was 84.
Mrs. Davis was born in Fredonia, NY on Val-entine's Day in 1922. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Sarah Gugino, first generation immigrants from Italy. She was the last surviving member of her family, including her brother, Joseph Gugino, and sister, Angela Wallen, both of Fredonia, NY. Mrs. Davis graduated from Fredonia High School in 1939 and earned a secretarial degree from Jamestown Business College in 1941. Upon graduation, she moved to Cleveland, OH to work as a medical and surgical secretary at St. Luke's Hospital.
In 1945 on V-J Day (August 15), Clara met the love her life, Frank "Dave" Davis, while celebrating the United States' victory over Japan in the streets of Cleveland, OH. It was a storybook romance that began with a fateful kiss and endured for more than 60 years. They married
in Fredonia, NY on May 4, 1946. Mrs. Davis was a dedicated homemaker. In 1951, she and her husband moved to Newport, DE to build their home and raise their family. Mrs. Davis was very active in her neighborhoods of Pleasant Hills and Pleasant Hills Estates, and was known especially for organizing and hosting many holiday gatherings and family picnics. Together with her husband, she built lifelong friendships with "60-year friends", Jeanette and Ken Dambach, Kitty and Ed Kane, "Toots" and Barney Rought, Marge and John Jewell, Mary and Danny Nicoletti, and Stella and Jim Prorock.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Frank; and their 2 sons and their families, Robert L. and Carol Davis, of Christiana, DE, and their children, Christopher L. and Leslie Davis, both of Sylvania, OH, Michelle L. Davis, of Houston, and Brian C. Davis, of Belcamp, MD; and John M. and Maryellen Davis, and Lisa M. Rickert, of Middletown, DE; and Chad C. Boyd, of Atlanta, GA.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 6, at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. The family will receive visitors at 11:30 am, with a memorial service to follow at 12:30 pm. A committal ceremony will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, at 2 pm.

Ann F. De Litta
Ann F De Litta, age 92, of Wilmington, DE, died July 2, 2006, with her devoted family by her side.
Ann was born in Attleboro, MA to the late Antonio and Libera Ferrara. She married
Angelo De Litta, and they had 3 children. The family moved from Westchester County, NY to the Talleyville area when her husband took a job as golf course superintendent for the Brandywine Country Club, which was then located on Concord Pike. Ann devoted her life to raising her children and providing a loving and nurturing home for her family.
Ann's husband died in 1979. She is survived by their 3 children, Gerald F. De Litta, Shirley D. Sorantino, and Richard A. De Litta, and his wife, Mary; 2 brothers, Frank J. Ferrara and John J. Ferrara; 1 sister, Elizabeth Ferrara; 5 grandchildren, John, Robert, Michael and Lisa Sorantino, and Melissa De Litta; and 4 great grandchildren, Adam, Sara, Anna and Lauren Sorantino. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Carmino Ferrara; and her sister, Mary Flynn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday, July 5, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Concord Pike & Sharpley Rd., where friends may call after 10 am. Entombment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Charles Dougherty
Charles Dougherty, age 80, of Smyrna, DE, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill, in Smyrna.
Mr. Dougherty was born July 21, 1925, to Charles E. Dougherty and Nora (Babby) Dougherty. He was a World War II veteran, who served his country as an MP, guarding German prisoners of war at a military prison camp in NE. Mr. Dougherty retired in 1975 as a factory worker from Electric Hose and Rubber Co. He was a former member of the Immanual Baptist Church of Wilmington. An avid sports fan, Mr. Dougherty loved watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles games.
Mr. Dougherty was married
46 years to Audrey A. Dougherty (Foracre), who preceded him in death October 6, 1997. Mr. Dougherty is survived by 3 sons, C. Doug, of Smyrna, Steve, of Georgetown, and Bruce, of Elkton, MD. He is also survived by 3 daughters, Ruth Ann Dougherty, of Newark, Rebecca Socorso, of Middletown, and Roberta Buch-anan, of New Castle. Mr. Dougherty is also survived by 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 6th, from 6-8 pm, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Highway & Duncan Road.
A service will be held on Friday, July 7th, at 2 pm, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Harvey Curtis Fenimore, Jr.
Age 86, died July 1, 2006, of Parkinson's disease.
He was born February 12, 1920 in Wilmington, DE, and was the eldest child of Harvey C. Fenimore's 12 children. He was a graduate of Alexis I. duPont High School and Shepherd College, in WV. He also earned a master's degree from the University of Delaware. He served in the US Army Air Corps from 1940-1945, and in the US Air Force from 1950-1967. He taught English at Dover High School from 1967-1982, then retired. Harvey was best known to many DE children, their teachers and their parents, as the author of the Granddad's Delaware History series of 3 books, better known as The Mike and Marnie books. He would like to be remembered at the lines Chaucer wrote in describing his character the scholar, "Gladly did he learn and gladly did he teach." He enjoyed the thought that his children's books would be teaching someone for years after he was gone. He loved his family and his friends, and he loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Bettie Henhorne; and by his son, Philip. His mother, the former Frances Louis Cain, died when he was 8; and his second mother, the former Annie F. Poteet, died when he was 68. He mourned them both. He is survived by 3 of his children, Harvey III, Michael, and Mary; as well as by his beloved daughter-in-law, Christine, who cared for him the final years of his life; and by 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, July 6th, at Christ Episcopal Church, S. State & Water Sts., Dover, DE.
