Age 88 of Bridgeville, DE, died June 11, 2006 at home. Service 12 noon on Saturday, June 17, at Prospect AME Church, Railroad Ave. and Adams St., Georgetown, DE, where friends may view 1 hour prior.

Adrienne Quinn Jordan

Of Boothwyn, PA, passed on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the age of 69.

Born in Mineola, Long Island, NY, to the late Harry J. Quinn and Viola Juhring of Ithan, PA, Adrienne was a 1955 graduate of Notre Dame de Namur Academy and a 1959 graduate of Millersville State Teacher's College. She taught elementary school for over 30 years in the Garnet Valley School District. She also taught piano lessons for more than 15 years. A faithful member of St. Mary Magdalen of Wilmington, DE, Adrienne volunteered her time at the Mary Campbell Center of Wilmington, DE, and at both Concord and Bethel Springs Elementary Schools in the Garnet Valley School District. A member of the Bethel Township Preservation Society and an enthusiastic bird lover and flower gardener, Adrienne was devoted to her family and her school community.

Beloved wife of 45 years to John J. Jordan, Jr. Loving mother of daughters, Julie Jordan, Kim J. Wicks, both of Wilmington, DE and Mary E. White of West Chester, PA; and sons, Matthew S. Jordan of Narberth, PA and John J. Jordan, III of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her brothers, Harry J. Quinn of White Plains, NY, William J. Quinn of West Chester, PA and Peter J. Quinn of Richmond, VA; and 8 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday evening, June 18, from 6-8 pm at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Monday, June 19, at St. Mary Magdalen, Concord Pike and Sharpley Roads, Wilmington. Burial will be in St. Thomas the Apostle cemetery in Chester Heights, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Mary Campbell Center, 4641 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Stamatia G. Kalogirou

Age 87 of Wilmington, DE, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at her home.

Born in the village of Afrodisia, Chios, Greece, daughter of the late Nicholas and Kyriaki Kazas Koutsoudodis, she lived in Greece before moving to Wilmington 40 years ago. She was previously employed by The Patio, Wilmington, DE, and Widener University. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Mrs. Kalogirou enjoyed cooking and especially time spent with her family back in her home village of Afrodisia, Greece.

She was the wife of the late George J. Kalogirou, who died September 1959. Grandmother of the late Patti Mitropolis. Survived by her daughters, Maria Grigorakakis and Kyriaki Eleutheriou, both of Wilmington, DE and Patricia Spirou, Austria; and a sister, Markela Sitaras, Athens, Greece. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. There are no calling hours. Burial in Lawn Croft cemetery, Linwood, PA.

Charles LaFinis "Big Chuck" Mosley

Age 35 of Chester, PA, died June 11, 2006.

He was the son of Charles Mosley and Jessie M. Lawler. Brother of Sherita L. Mosley and Sholonda R. Diller Lawler. Grandson of Earline Lawler.

Funeral service 10 am on Saturday, June 17, at Range Memorial Church, 7th and Fulton Sts., Chester, PA, where friends may call from 8-10 am and today, June 16, from 6-9 pm. Interment will be in Haven Memorial cemetery, Chester, PA. The family will assemble at 1031 Kerlin Street, Chester, PA.

Age 80 of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in the Christiana Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 19th, at 11 am at the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Highway, New Castle, where friends may call 1 hour before the service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Jane Seel

Age 64, of Hockessin, DE, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at home.

She was a graduate of Brandywine High School and is survived by her husband Theodore G.; son, Erik D. Seel of Hockessin; daughter, Kelly D. Shannon of Wilmington; brother, Thomas Olsen of Hockessin; sister Christine Rule of Wilmington; and 4 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17, at 10:30 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Concord Pike and Sharpley Rd., Wilmington. Interment will follow in Longwood cemetery, Kennett Square, PA. Family and friends may call at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington today, June 16, from 6-8 pm.

Lois Maria Sewell "My"

Of Chesapeake City, MD, departed this life on Monday, June 12, 2006, at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. Lois was blessed to live 74 years.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Perry and Edna Sewell; and 12 siblings, Esther, Alice, Mildred, Alvera, Perry, Jr., Harvey, John, Joe, Eugene, Edgar, Leroy and Morris. Lois leaves to cherish her memory, 2 daughters, Ronell Young of Chesapeake City, MD and Eugenia of Philadelphia, PA; 3 brothers and 1 sister, Amos (Doris) of Waco, TX, James Irvin of Brooklyn, NY, Colburn of Elkton, MD, and Sandra of Brooklyn, NY; 5 grandchildren, Andrea Ringgold (Charles) of Elkton, MD, Clarence Young of Newark, DE, Tatum Young of Elkton, MD (who never left her grandmother's side throughout her illness), Gregory Snowden of Bethesda, MD and Kathleen Sewell Belgraves of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; and 5 great-grandchildren (including Carrie Edith who lived with and was cared for by Lois throughout Carrie's life). Lois is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Bethel AME Church, 201 2nd St., Chesapeake City, MD, with visitation from 10 am-12 noon.

John Spargo

John David Spargo, age 69, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at his home of 39 years in Winchester-on-the-Severn in Annapolis, MD.

Mr. Spargo was born June 17, 1936, in Wilmington, DE, where he attended Friends School. He received a degree in engineering from the University of Delaware. Early in his career he worked for Pratt and Whitney in Palm Beach, FL, where he helped to design the engines for the SR71 aircraft. In 1967 he moved to Annapolis and began working at the David Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center. He developed methods of reducing propeller-induced noise transmission and various mechanisms on ships. He retired in 1995. The previous year he enjoyed a "tour" of the Mediterranean Sea on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, an aircraft carrier, studying equipment on the ship. Mr. Spargo was an active cyclist who bicycled to work. In the early 1980s he discovered a love of motorcycling and took many trips on his Honda Silverwind. A lifelong sailor and lover of sailing the Chesapeake Bay, he was the commodore of the St. Michaels (MD) Model Boat Club. He also enjoyed sailing model skipjacks, playing backgammon, gourmet adventuring and his hot tub and his dogs. He never met a stranger and was friendly to all.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 45 years, Alison Jones Spargo; 2 daughters, Margaret Lee Spargo and Patricia Spargo Benson, both of Odenton, MD; a sister, Nancy Spargo Goodridge of Wilmington, DE; and 3 grandchildren, who called him "Pop Pop."

A private celebration of his life will be held at his community beach at 5 pm on Friday, June 30.

Donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403; the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403; or the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, PO Box 636, St. Michaels, MD 21663.
