Philip M. Halloran

Age 45, of Wilmington, DE, died suddenly on Monday, June 26, 2006.

Born August 6, 1960 in Wilmington, DE, Phil attended Christ Our King, Talley Jr. High and Concord High Schools. He earned his BA from the University of Delaware. He was employed for the last 15 years as a manager for a truck leasing company and also worked many years at the Dupont Country Club. Phil was a loving husband and was idolized by his son, Kyle, who called him "best dad". His humor and happy attitude was evident by his ever ready smile and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was active in his son's little league and will by sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Linda Dougherty Halloran; son, Kyle; parents, John and Jean Halloran; 3 brothers, Stephen and his wife, Margaret, of Anchorage, AK, Robert of Wilmington, DE and Andrew of Philadelphia, PA; and 1 sister, Ann Marie Borghese and her husband, Marco, of Long Island, NY. He will be sorely missed by all his relatives, especially Albert and Cecelia Haywood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 1, at 10:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Weldin and Shipley Rds., Wilmington, where friends may call after 9 am. Burial will be in Cathedral cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803; or Holy Rosary School, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.

Paul W. Hirseman, Sr.

Of New Castle, DE, age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006, in Toms River, NJ.

His beloved wife, Leta Irene (Howell), passed away in February of 1990. Prior to serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Force, Mr. Hirseman was a teaching principal in Scottsville, NY. After his war efforts, he became an instructor at Syracuse University teaching economics and statistics. For 26 years he worked with Hercules Incorporated as a statistical analyst in the economic research division. After retiring he lectured at the University of Delaware in business finance. As a civic-minded man, Paul was active in the New Castle City Historical Society and he was the coordinator of volunteers for the Old Library. He was active in the Wilmington Trail Club. His most notable achievement was hiking the annual end-to-end hike every year until he was 80. He enjoyed square dancing as well as being a mentor at Carrie Downie Elementary School.

He is survived by his sister, Ellen Phillips and her husband, Ken, of Pasadena, CA; his sons, Paul W, Hirseman, Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Toms River, NJ and Robert D. Hirseman and his wife, Marian, of Cincinnati, OH; and 3 grandsons, Robert T., Daniel D., and Paul W., III.

A memorial service will be held at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle, on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at 11 am. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the New Castle City Historical Society, 2 E. 4th St., New Castle, DE 19720; or the Sierra Club, 85 2nd St., 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105-3441.

Age 49, of Bear, DE, died June 14, 2006.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Red Lion Evangelical Free Church, 1400 Red Lion Dr., Bear, DE.

Hazel Ann Ennis

Hazel Ann Ennis, of Bear, DE, suddenly passed away on Friday June 9, 2006, at her home in her 41st year of life.

Hazel was born in Elkton, MD, daughter of Dorothy Ann Mayle and the late Daniel E. Atwell, and made DE her home for the majority of her life. Hazel was office manager for Ennis Electric for many years and prior, she was a private duty certified nurse's assistant.

Hazel's husband of 14 years, Howard "Bud" Ennis, passed away March 14, 2006. She is survived by her son, Nathan Ennis, and his fiancée, Erin E. Bader, of Bear; Hazel's fiancé, John A. Teefy, of Bear; and brothers, Russell A. Morris, of Bear, and Michael E. Kep-linger, of Elkton, MD.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of Hazel's family.

Robert H. Groff

Age 79, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, after an extended illness.

Mr. Groff was born and raised in a rural community of Lancaster County, PA. After graduating from Penn State University in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mr. Groff joined the Bell System (later Bell Atlantic). He spent 25 years working for Bell of Pennsylvania and 13 years at Diamond State Telephone in a variety of managerial positions in customer service, construction, engineering and public relations. His last assignment was in the Office of the President of Diamond State Telephone with responsibilities involving budgeting, construction programming, and financial and service analyses. He retired from Diamond State in 1989. Mr. Groff served in the U.S. Army Occupational Forces of West Germany in 1945-1947. He also served as a First Lieutenant in the 45th Infantry Division, Signal Battalion from 1952-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service for the latter tour.

Mr. Groff is survived by his daughters and son, Tracy Groff Self, Audrey Lynn Wiggins, Kyle Laning Groff, Susan Lee Groff and Lesley Joy Lyons; his sister and brother-in-law, Arlene G. and Wayne O. Schreiber; his sister, Joan M. Scheafnocker; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Bruce Groff.

Private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Robert H. Groff to Spectrum Ministries, Inc., PO Box 17447, San Diego, CA 92177-7447 Attn: Robin Clement.

Fred E. Morrison

Age 69, a 42-year resident of Claymont, DE, and formerly of Twin Oaks, PA, died on Sunday, June 11, 2006.

Mr. Morrison had been a self-employed electrician for 30 years, retiring in 2001.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, W. Alfred Morrison. Survivors include his wife of 48½ years, Marie A. Wholahan Morrison; 1 daughter, Jean M. Lee, of Claymont, DE; 1 son, Fred E. Morrison, Jr., and his wife, Bonnie, of Middletown, DE; mother, Velma Sweed Morrison, of Wilmington, DE; and 1 grandson, Jesse Morrison.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 am on Wednesday, June 14, at the MORELAND-PAGANO FUNERAL HOME, 825 Main St., Trainer, PA, with interment in Edgewood Memorial Park, in Glen Mills, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heartland Hospice, 261 Chapman Rd., Ste. 100, Newark, DE 19702.
