John H. (Harry) Holman,
retired from G.E.
John H. (Harry) Holman, 76, of Kennett Square and formerly of West Chester, Pa. and Rehoboth, died Thursday, January 27, 2005 with his loving wife of 54 years at his side.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1928 in Chester, Pa., and was the son of the late James J. and Eliza (Morgan) Holman. He graduated from St. James High School, served in the U.S. Navy and then graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in 1952.
He married the former Elizabeth (Betty) McKinney on September 16, 1950 and they had five children.
Mr. Holman worked at First Westinghouse and then for 32 years at General Electric Co. in Valley Forge where he was a technical writer. He retired in December 1988. He was a longtime member of S.S. Philip & James Parish. He was a Knight of St. James.
He was preceded in death by a son, James J. in 1991; two brothers, James and Robert Holman; and a sister, Mary Holman.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Adams and her husband Glenn J. of Augusta, Maine; and three sons, John J. and his wife Cathleen of York, Pa.; Christopher and his wife Janet of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; and Thomas E. and his wife Ann Marie of Toughkenamon, Pa.. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Kathleen Holman; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at S.S. Philip & James Church, Exton, Pa.

Martin A. Wells,
self-employed farmer
Martin A. Wells, 88, of Lewes, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at home.
Mr. Wells was born in Angola, the son of the late David Alfred and Ollie Mitchell Wells.
He was a self-employed farmer in Sussex County for many years and had also driven a bus for the Cape Henlopen School District. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Milton Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada E. Collins Wells, in 1999.
He is survived by a brother, Richard Wells of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Milton Wesleyan Church, Milton, with burial in Whites Chapel cemetery , Milton.

Mary Huffman,
Columbia Gas employee
Mary Huffman, 93, of the Kutz Home, died Monday, March 21, 2005.
Mrs. Huffman was born June 6, 1911, in Terra Alta, W.Va. Mrs. Huffman worked for Columbia Gas Co. in Charleston, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dailey Kelly and her parents, Grant and Jane Kelly.
She is survived by her son, Richard Huffman and his wife Alice of Lewes; two grandchildren, Kelly Chen and Richard Huffman Jr.; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Darley and Naammans Road, Wilmington.

Alice Marie Jones,
Mrs. Fields’ baker
Alice Marie Jones, 84, of Lincoln, died Friday, March 25, 2005, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.
Mrs. Jones was born June 7, 1920, daughter of the late Leslie and Sarah Clementine (Dill) McFann.
She served her country during World War II by working in munitions plant in Delaware.
She was a baker at the Mrs. Fields Cookie Co. in the Dover Mall for the past 10 years.
She was an active Cub Scout leader for Pack 307 in Lincoln in the 1960s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Jones Jr., in 1980.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Pat Jones of Lewes; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Bettyann and Bob Tice of Lincoln and Shirley Alice and Stuart Kelly of Takoma Park, Md.; a brother, Jackie Moore of Milford; five grandchildren, Jim Pettit, Stephen Jones, Chuck Jones, Andrew Kelly and Leslie Kelly; and a great-grandson, Jason Kelly.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, in Milford Community cemetery.

Dorothy Jane Jack,
retired from hospital
Dorothy Jane Jack, 88, died Thursday, March 24, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Mrs. Jack was born in Wilmington on Aug. 6, 1916, to Charles and Bertie Mitchell. She retired from the Wilmington Medical Center in 1979. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Brandywiners.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Jack, in 1965; and her sister, Gladys Brooks in 1960.
She is survived by her son, William H. Jack Jr. and his wife Gail of Kirkwood, Pa.; and her daughter, Violet Jack Chilcoat and her husband Bruce of Rehoboth Beach; her grandchildren, William H. Jack III and his wife Kathleen of Jamieson, Pa. and Tracy Harris and her husband Evan of Marblehead, Mass.; and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, March 29, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, with a service to follow at noon. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery , 33rd and Market Streets, Wilmington.

Mary J. Duffy Maucher,

Mary Josephine Duffy Maucher, 65, formerly of Wilmington, died suddenly Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Virginia.
Mrs. Maucher was a loving wife, a loving and supportive mother and a doting grandmother.
She attended St. Anne’s School and was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and Goldey Beacom Business School. Her lifelong love of learning led her to study nursing and theology and she also pursued her artistic talents by taking painting and drawing classes over the years. She was also a dedicated volunteer.
She professed and practiced the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. She was a very active member of her parish, where she served on the RICA committee, was a Eucharistic minister and ministered to the sick and served as a lector.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lawrence, of Reston, Va.; her daughter, Kathleen Fish and her husband Art and their children Charlotte and Aidan of Salem, Ore.; her daughter Jennifer Maucher of Charleston, Va.; her brothers, Martin Duffy and his wife Nancy of Rehoboth Beach, John P. Duffy and his wife Geraldine of Freehold, N.J., Marcus C. Duffy Jr. and Judy Ackerman, both of Wilmington; her brother-in-law, Kenny Rhoads of Wilmington; her husband’s sisters and their spouses, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and County Sligo in Ireland.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, in St. John Neumann Church in Reston, Va. Burial will be in Cathedral cemetery , Wilmington, at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 30.

Doris Carrie Carey,
Milford homemaker
Doris Carrie Carey, 76, of Milford, died peacefully at her residence Friday, March 25, 2004 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Carey was the daughter of the late Rodney Wilson and Carrie Lena King Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Conklin Carey Jr., in 1991 and a son, Roscoe Carey III, in 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Margie J. Lokey, of Crossville, Tenn., two sisters, Lenora Webb and Kathryn Coverdale, both of Milford; six grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday March 30, at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, where friends may call on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Johnstown cemetery , Greenwood.
Francis R. “Pat” Bray Jr.,
retired from IBM
Francis R. “Pat” Bray Jr. of Fairfax, Va. and Rehoboth Beach, died at his beach home on Thursday, March 24, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pat was the son of the late Francis R. “Buddy” Bray Sr. and Dorothy V. Bray.
Pat was born in Washington, D.C. and as a teenager moved with his family to Fairfax, Virginia. He was a graduate of Gonzaga College High School and George Mason University. During his career, Pat was employed by IBM, mostly in the Bethesda, Md. office. He retired in 1995 after 29 years of service.
Pat was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active in St. Edmond’s Parish at Rehoboth Beach. Pat’s strong interests were in history and genealogy. He was chairman of the Fairfax County History Commission, president of the Northern Virginia Association for History Inc., vice president of the Historical Society of Fairfax County, and the State Registrar for the Society of the War of 1812. Pat was also vice president of the Fairfax County Genealogical Society and very active in the Sons of the American Revolution. He organized the Washington Chapter of “Black Tie”, an international men’s social and philanthropic group and served as its president. He was also chairman of the Gamma Mu Ball in Washington, DC.
Pat’s interest in genealogy continued when he moved to Rehoboth Beach permanently in 2002. As a certified genealogist, he started a genealogical group at the Lewes Public Library, conducted workshops and, in a variety of other ways, helped many people trace their family origins.
Pat is survived by his devoted sister, Elizabeth Ann Bray of Fairfax; loving nephew, Patrick Buckley Bray and his wife Julie Elizabeth; a beloved niece, Catherine Arundel Bray; and loyal canine “Tigger” as well as family and many friends in Washington and Rehoboth Beach.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Ave, Vienna, Va. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 313 Second Street, SE, Washington, D.C., followed by interment at the Cedar Hill cemetery , Suitland, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Francis R. Bray, Jr. Memorial Fund, Class of 1957, Gonzaga College High School, Nineteen Eye Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
George W. Scott,
retired truck driver
George W. Scott, 60, of Millsboro, and formerly of Reading, Pa., died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
He was born in Williamsport, Pa., the son of Walter Scott and the late Margaret Vanetta Scott.
He was a retired truck driver and most recently worked for Hocker’s in Ocean View.
Along with his father Walter, he is survived by his wife, Marlene J. Scott; a son, David Scott; a daughter, Melissa Scott; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Lynn DeFrees.
A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.

Willie “Britt” “Rev.” Wright,

Willie “Britt” “Rev.” Wright, 89, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Buffalo.
Mr. Wright was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Leary, Ga., the son of the late Louis and Josephine Cochran Wright. He moved from town to town before settling in Buffalo.
He held many jobs to make sure his family was supported.
He has always been called “Rev.” because of his love for the Lord, whom he accepted as his personal savior many years ago. He was a wonderful father, an excellent grandfather and a loving husband.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church in Milford, a member of the Landmark Baptist Tabernacle of Milton, a member of Holy Temple, pastored by L.A. Spight, a member of Pillar of Truth, pastored by his son, Henry Wright, and a member of New Life Center, pastored by Robert Wahler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years, Laura Johnson, whom he married in 1932; and five children, Elizabeth, Willie, James, Roland, Fellow Jones and Mary.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Louise Blackmon Wright; 12 children and their spouses, William and Inez, Annie Mae and Joseph, Matthew and Jackie of Delaware, Johnny and Embrella of California, Jessie and Carolyn, James and Diane of Maryland, Everline and Patrick of Florida, Ernest and Roxann, Henry and Lewanda, Katherine and Charles, Thelma and Wardel and Ernest, better known as Bubba; four stepchildren, John, Edward, Olivia and Viola; two adopted sons, Edward Butler and Oscar Macklin; 75 grandchildren; 161 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward, of Georgia; a sister, Mary Smith of Rochester, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and spiritual children who called him “Dad.”
Services were held in Buffalo.
Theresa A. (Lawless) Neicen,

Theresa A. (Lawless) Neicen, 67, of Millsboro, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md.
Mrs. Neicen was born in 1937 in Paulsboro, N.J., the daughter of Blanche Lawless of Pennsville and the late Leonard Lawless. She resided in Pennsville, N.J. until 1999, before moving to Delaware.
Theresa enjoyed playing cards and slots. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 28 of Delaware and chairman of the pinochle club.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward Neicen; and her four children, Mike, Steve, Tracey Neicen Mowers of Pennsville and Tim of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Chad Neicen and his wife Lisa of Goose Creek, S.C. and Steve Lyn Neicen of Pennsville, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Preston and Chloe, also of Goose Creek; a brother, Joseph Lawless and his wife Judy of Pennsville; several nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 1, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Long Neck, Millsboro. Burial was private.
