Richard B. Lehman "Dick"

Age 77, of Franklin Park, PA, formerly Dover, DE, died on Wednesday, May 31, 2006.

Born May 29, 1929 in Johnstown, PA, the son of the late John A. and Ethel (Kocher) Lehman.

Dick enjoyed a fulfilling career in aviation with the Federal Aviation Administration, the Dover Air Force Base, U.S. Airways, and many consulting positions continuing to advance aviation technology for 48 years.

He was an Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War.

Dick was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather who was very much loved by everyone who knew him.

Dick's deep desire was to pass on a legacy of learning to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Fran (Fusco) Lehman; 2 daughters, Pat Wolf and her husband, Brad, of Franklin Park, PA and Chris Compliment and her husband, Jim, of Franklin Park, PA; son, Rick Lehman and his wife, Debbie, of Boothwyn, PA; 2 sisters, Marge Lehman and Kay (Robert) Holtzman, both of Johnstown, PA; 7 grandchildren, Megan and Michael Wolf, Jimmy, Colleen and Kevin Compliment and Ricky and Ryan Lehman.

Also survived by many loving extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Louise Lehman and Betty King; and brother, Robert Lehman.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 5th, at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Mars, PA.

Interment with military honors was in Holy Savior cemetery.

In honor of Dick's lifelong love of learning, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Richard B. Lehman Education Fund, payable to Brad Wolf, 1660 Oakleaf Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Walter Thomas Nelson

Age 72, of Greensboro, NC, died Saturday, June 16, 2006, at his residence.

Thomas Nelson was born in Kilgore, TX on July 18, 1933 to the late Walter and Floy Chinn Nelson.

Mr. Nelson attended elementary and high school in Kilgore and Kilgore Junior College where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Scholastic Fraternity.

He then attended the University of Texas where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1955 and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Following his graduation Mr. Nelson began his career with E.I. DuPont in Orange, TX.

He joined the U.S. Navy, earning his wings on December 7, 1956 and flew AD5N aircraft, the last of the Navy's propeller driven dive bombers, off the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga.

Mr. Nelson received the Navy Commendation Medal for the rescue of crewmen from aircraft ditched at sea.

He often described this period as 4 of the happiest years of his life.

Following his military service.

Mr. Nelson returned to DuPont and was transferred to their headquarters in Wilmington, DE.

After several years as a mechanical engineer the company transferred him to Shreveport, LA as a salesman in their plastics division.

Mr. Nelson later returned to Wilmington as a Profit Center Manager for the remainder of his career.

He was had oversight responsibilities for products such products as Stren fishing line, Neoprene, Teflon and Nordel.

Mr. Nelson retired from DuPont in 1990 and then began a career with FMC Corporation as a consultant.

Thomas Nelson was an experienced pilot with over 3300 hours of flight time.

In addition to his Navy career as a pilot he was also a commercial pilot certified in both single and multi-engine planes, as well as a certified instructor in primary, commercial, instrument, and acrobatic flying.

In Greensboro, he was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist church.

Thomas Nelson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Johanna Johnson Nelson of the home; daughters, Paula Nelson of Summerfield, NC, Pamela Tsai and her husband, David, of Raleigh, NC and Patti Nelson and her husband, Brian Ault, of Elverson, PA; brothers, Robert Nelson of Kilgore, TX and Richard Nelson of Kerrville, TX; grandchildren, Alan Harrington and Sara Harrington; and great-grandson, Bryce Thomas Swanson.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm today, June 19th, at FORBIS AND DICK, North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC and other times at the residence.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Kilgore cemetery, Kilgore, TX.

A memorial service will also be held at a later date at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to either Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2600 Pisgah Church Road, Greensboro, NC 27455; or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 650 West 168111 Street, New York, NY 10032.

Anne O'Connor

Age 87, originally of New York City, NY, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, in the Gilpin Hall Nursing Home.

Anne retired in 1951 as an executive secretary for Newsweek magazine.

Her husband, John F. O'Connor, died in 1976.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary A. O'Connor of Wilmington, DE and Ellen C. O'Connor of York, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning, June 20, at 11 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Shipley and Weldin Roads, where friends may call after 10 am.

Interment will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA.

Donald A. Murtha
Optician

Donald A. Murtha, a longtime resident of Wilmington, DE, died of cancer at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL on Monday, April 18, 2005.

Mr. Murtha owned and operated Continental Opticians in Wilmington for 25 years and is past president of the Delaware Society of Dispensing Opticians.

His 12 years of Army service included a tour in Vietnam during which he dispensed replacement eyeglasses for frontline troops.

Mr. Murtha is survived by his wife, Emily, of Pasadena, FL; and several children from a previous marriage, Douglas Murtha and Florence Mundy of East Brunswick, NJ, Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Murtha, U.S. Army and Susan Bandrowsky of Bear, DE.

Also survived by his brothers, John Murtha of LaPlata, MD and Paul Murtha of Wilmington, DE; and sister, Eileen Savinski of Pittston, PA.

Preceding Mr. Murtha in death were his sons, Donald Murtha and David Murtha; and his sister Nan Cylc.

A memorial service will be held at 8 pm on Monday, April 25, at the MCCRERY FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville, where friends may call after 7 pm.

John H. Bauer

Age 77 of Millsboro, DE, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service 11 am, Saturday, June 17, Hollywood cemetery, Harrington Milford Rd., Harrington. Arr. by MELVIN F.H.

Robert Francis Daniels, Sr.

Age 69, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at home.

Mr. Daniels proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Marine Corps and the Army.

He retired from MariTrans, a marine transportation company in 1991.

A member of the Moose Lodge of New Castle and NTA, he enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, golf and traveling. He especially enjoyed camping in Chincoteague, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, B. Lee Daniels; 2 sons, Robert F., Jr. and Tania and Thomas E. and Eva; 1 sister, Elizabeth M. Webb of Ft. Walton, FL; granddaughter, Ashley N. Daniels; and grandson, Matthew E. Reynolds.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2006, at 12:30 pm at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Hwy. and Duncan Rd., where friends may call after 11:30 am. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, his family would like donations to the Moose Lodge of New Castle, 621 N. Dupont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720.

Ruth T. Craig

Mrs. Ruth T. Craig, age 96, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Regal Heights in Hockessin, DE.

Born in Chester, PA, on March 12, 1910, Mrs. Craig was the daughter of the late Walter Tonge and Cora Siple Tonge.

She was employed for many years as a professional secretary at the former Richmond Radiator in New Castle, retiring in 1972. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Craig had been a member of the Salem Homemakers Club for 20 years.

Her beloved husband, Edwin S. Craig, died in 1984.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol C. Reed.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Craig of Newark; daughter, Virginia C. Watts of Greenwood; sister, Elviere T. Ward of Newark; son-in-law, Edward F. Reed of Newark; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 31 great great grandchildren; and 3 great great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 22, 2006, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 10 am.

Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
