He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughter, Reneé M. Hicks; his son, Christopher Hicks; 4 brothers, Charles, Wayne, Glynn and Alvin; 1 sister, Linda Kenyon; and 1 grandson, Ryan Harper.

Age 45, departed this life June 8, 2006 at home. Beloved father of Ray James Banks, III and Dominick R. James. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Mr. James had worked as chief custodian at Newark High School. Carol Anne Maclary (Hargreaves)
Age 57, beloved wife of Kenneth E. Maclary for 29 years, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at home in Hockessin, DE.
Born on December 3, 1948 in Paterson, NJ, she was the only child of Charles and Lois Lookhoff Hargreaves currently of Calabash, NC. She graduated from Kinnelon High School in 1966, received a Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg State College, PA in 1970, and earned a Master's of Education from Widener University, PA in 1992. She taught physical education at Oak Grove Junior High from 1970-1978 and at Conrad Middle School from 1978-2000. She is remembered fondly by her many students and particularly by her hockey players. Carol had been involved with the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization in many capacities. Beloved by both titleholders and local contestants, she was a member of the Board of Directors since 1988. She held the positions of treasurer, secretary, business manager and Executive Director, culminating in her being named Executive Director Emeritus in 2004. Following her retirement and before her illness worsened, Carol touched more lives positively by volunteering herself in the mentor program at William C. Lewis Elementary School in Wilmington. The fruits of this involvement are borne out by the recent letter she received from one of her students in which she profoundly asked, "I wonder why God takes the people you love?" She was renowned for her numerous craft projects often made as gifts for her many friends. Carol also greatly enjoyed her visits to Broadway. the duPont Theatre, and her sailing trips to ME as well as numerous others trips with friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon, June 15, at 3 pm at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Burial will be private.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, June 14, from 6-9 pm and on Thursday afternoon from 2-3 pm.

Gilmore J. Reed, Jr.
Age 68, was called home unexpectedly on Friday, June 9, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 with honorable discharge. Gil was a professional truck driver for over 40 years and retired in 2000 after 38 years at Johnson Controls and as a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was a recipient of many safe driving awards and accolades. As an avid stockcar/NASCAR fan he traveled the circuit in the 1960s and 1970s. He also enjoyed watching all levels of football. Gil was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his father, Gilmore J. Reed, Sr.; brothers, William Reed and "Pop" Paul Manlove. Survivors include his loving and devoted best friend and wife, Mary; his mother, Josephine Manlove of Odessa; children, Paul J. Reed of Bear, Kelly Stanley (Mark), John J. Reed (Valerie) of Middletown, Crystal Angle-Condron (John) of Magnolia and Sue Hunt (Van) of Smyrna; grandchildren, Lauren and Morgan Stanley, Mitchel and Samantha Angle, Elijah, Jeb and Ethan Hunt, Daniel and Robert Edwards; siblings, Paul Reed (Marlyn), Carolyn Aikin (Harry), Mary Craig, Clara Reed, Gilda Foraker (Sonny) and Sarah Moody; and many longtime friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE, where family and friends may call 2 hours earlier. Interment will be in Delaware Veteran's Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

Laura E. Green
Laura E. Green, age 90, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, died on Friday, April 21, 2006.
Miss Green spent her entire career working for the W.T. Grant Department Stores.
She was one of the first women to work in management for the chain, and her first store was in Dover, during World War II, when many men were involved with the war effort. Her career was a prominent part of her life, and she managed W.T. Grant stores in DE, NJ and PA. Miss Green was a member of the former Silverbrook Methodist Church on Lancaster Ave.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Reba Donovan Green; and is survived by 4 nieces; and 1 nephew.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, April 26, at Silverbrook cemetery.

Ray E. Hastings
Age 64, of Laurel, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, DE. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer II in the United States Coast Guard, retiring in 1979. He also owned and operated Town and Country Produce for many years. He recently worked for Sussex County Senior Services in transportation for the Cheer Center in Greenwood. He was a member of Portsville United Methodist Church. Ray loved gardening and sports, particularly, baseball and football. Ray especially enjoyed coaching his daughters basketball team the "Sussex Academy Lady Dragons" to a great season.
He was predeceased by his father, Floyd P. Hastings and a brother, Floyd "Buddy" Hastings. He is survived by his mother, Anna Marie Dodd of Denton, MD; his wife, Shelley Matthews Hastings of Laurel, DE; 1 Son, Ray Micheal Hastings of Greenwood, DE; 2 daughters, Tracy Propes of Greenwood, DE and Courtney Hastings, of Laurel, DE; 1 brother, Paul H. Hastings of Bridgeville, DE; 1 half brother, Dicky Dodd of Denton, MD; 1 half sister, Norma Jean Johnson of Dover, DE; and 6 grandchildren, Apryl Diamond, Melody Diamond, Joshua Propes, Christopher Hastings, McKayla Hastings and Megan Hastings, all of Greenwood, DE.
A funeral service will be held at the HANNIGAN-SHORT-DISHAROON FUNERAL HOME, 700 West St., Laurel, DE, on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 11 am. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening, from 7-8:30 pm, at the funeral home. Rev. Ronald Wuest will officiate. Interment in Odd Fellows cemetery, Laurel, DE.

Etta Lynn Edwards Hitchcock, age 34, of North East, MD, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family and close friends, on Thursday, April 20, 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Hitchcock, Jr.; mother, Connie Sumner Edwards, Elkton, MD; siblings, Allan Edwards, and Randy Edwards, both of Chesapeake City, MD, Owen Edwards, Camden, DE, and Susie Moore, Elkton, MD; many nieces and nephews; and a great-niece and great-nephew.
Funeral service will be 2 pm, Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at HICKS HOME FOR FUNERALS, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD. Visitation 6-8 pm, Tuesday, April 25, at the funeral home.
Joseph P. "Jay" Martindale
Mr. Joseph P. "Jay" Martindale, age 40, of New Castle, DE, died suddenly on Thursday, April 20, 2006.
Born in Wilmington, on August 2, 1965, Mr. Martindale was a graduate of William Penn High School. He was a welder by profession and had been employed with Sheet Metal Contracting. A devoted family man, Mr. Martindale greatly enjoyed gardening around his home, cooking special meals, and spending time in the sunshine.
He will be lovingly remembered, by family and friends, as a unique man with a distinctive and interesting personality.
He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Lorraine Johnson Martindale; 3 sons, Joseph R. Martindale, Christopher C. Martindale and Steven A. Martindale, all of New Castle; his mother, Dolores Grissom Schaffer of Newark; and his sister, Debbie Dills of New Castle. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Martindale.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 12 Noon.
